Aurora
Aurora yawned as she sat up on the bed. She let her arms stretch above her head and looked over to the empty spot next to her. She remembered how Matteo layer beside her last night, or more in particular how she stayed in his bed. Just thinking about the event that had transpired had her face set ablaze.
She was a bit disappointed that he wasn't next to her anymore, but she looked out the window and saw the sun already peaking through his curtains. It must have been late in the morning and he had left to do whatever it is he does away from home.
Another day without him, she thought. With that in mind she got out of bed and left the room. She was going to do what she does everyday by first going getting to the kitchen to see Malinda. Before she could do that she had to do her business in her bathroom and freshen up.
Aurora brushed her teeth and did her business but didn't seem to want to get dressed just yet. Leaving on what she had slept in being a royal blue silk set Matteo had gotten for her, she walked to the stairs. As she came around the corner she could hear faint voices, those belonging to men.
With confusion and not being able to comprehend what they were saying she descended the stairs. The closer she got to them the louder their voices had gotten, and the only thing her ears had caught was Matteo's voice.
He sounded really angry and resorted to speak in his language so she couldn't understand him. When the people finally came into view she took in all familiar faces and did not bother to hide her presence. It was indeed Matteo but he had his back facing her, but she knew it was him.
The other man in the room who stood at the opposite end of the room, glanced over Matteo's shoulder and their eyes locked. She felt her body light up with joy the moment she saw him and she could see the surprise in his eyes when he saw her.
"Aurora." he grinned.
"Chandler!" she exclaimed.
Ignoring the surprised and angry looking Matteo, she waltzed past him and moved straight into Chandler's awaiting arms. The two hugged and she realized how much she had missed him.
"I missed you darling." he said. "You haven't been to work in quite a while."
Aurora pulled a bit to the back, sighing. "Matteo said I c-couldn't work anymore."
Chandler looked behind her. "Did he now?"
She nodded her head. "I really want to go to work but he said I can't."
"Why would he say that?"
Aurora was pulled back harshly, knocking into someone's chest. Her eyes grew wide as she peered up at Matteo, his jaw clenched and his eyes hard staring at Chandler. She was so small that she had to crane her neck just to see his jawline.
She tried so hard to ignore the burning feeling of his hand on her waist, keeping her flush against his body. She knew her cheeks were stained with red due to their close proximity and she tried her best to keep her breathing steady.
"Chandler, I believe you were just leaving. Isn't that right?"
His voice took her back to that day in the restaurant. The day she caught Matteo nearly killing Chandler and the time they spent together in the office. She was so frightened by him and just hearing his tone made her think that he could be angry.
Chandler smiled. "I was but then I realized just how much I missed Aurora. I would like to spend the day with her, if that's okay with her."
Aurora opened her mouth to reply but Matteo spoke up.
"No."
Aurora pouted.
"I wasn't asking you now was I?"
Matteo held her closer to him. "I don't fucking care. She is not going anywhere with you."
"What are you, her father? She can make her own decisions. What do you say, Aurora?"
Aurora opened her mouth to reply but like the first time, Matteo had once again chimed in.
"Leave right now. Giuro su Dio che ti ficcherò una pallottola nella gamba, cazzo." (I swear to God I will fucking put a bullet in your leg.)
Chandler smirked at Matteo. She wondered what was so humorous that Matteo said to make him do that.
He took a step forward, the smirk still plastered on his face. "La piccola puttana non sarebbe molto felice se la sua amica si facesse male, vero?" (The little bitch won't be very happy if her friend got hurt, now would she?)
Whatever Chandler said was not very amusing to Matteo because what he had done had shocked Aurora to the core. She was harshly moved to the side but not with such force that had her toppling over.
Matteo had shoved her behind him and with a swift movement took out something from his back pocket. Her eyes hadn't clearly seen what it was, but there was a black object in his hand and it was raised to Chandler's head.
Aurora peaked under Matteo's arm, looking to see what was happening in front of her. Aurora froze and her heart dropped at the familiar scene which had appeared in front of her at the restaurant. Her heart hammered against her chest at the sight of the gun pointed at Chandler's forehead.
"Cos'hai detto?" Matteo said. (What was that you said?)
Aurora couldn't move. Her body was frozen to the ground, trembling on the spot and not being able to form any words.
Chandler's smile widened. Instead of showing an ounce of fear or bafflement, he smiled.
"You are really sensitive when it comes to her, huh?" he teased.
Matteo didn't answer him. There was only a clicking sound that could be heard, and it came from the gun. She didn't know what it meant but for some reason she didn't like it.
Chandler laughed. "Le stai finalmente mostrando il tuo vero io. Mi chiedo quanto tempo passerà prima che scopra la verità e ti abbandoni." (You are finally showing her your true self. I wonder how long it will be until she figures out the truth and abandon you.)
"Lasciare." (Leave.)
"Aurora are you seeing this? He is threatening to kill me just for wanting to spend time with you. He's crazy."
Aurora felt like she had just snapped back into reality. She blinked and looked between Chandler and Matteo. Chandler looked as if he was enjoying this moment which she couldn't quiet understand. She couldn't see Matteo's face since his back was still turned to her.
She finally digested what Chandler had said and she took a trembling step backwards. Trying to create distance between her and Matteo.
"M-Matteo?" her voice quivered.
It was as if her words had fallen upon dead ears from how there were no movement from anyone in the room. He continued putting the gun at Chandler, but the only thing different was that she could see Matteo's hand slightly tremble.
"Matteo, w-what are you doing?" she asked, feeling as if she could cry any moment.
"Stay out of this." he said.
She shook her head. "No. I can't let you hurt him."
"You heard her." Chandler said.
Matteo pressed the gun harshly against his forehead and he instantly flung his hands up in mock surrender.
"Matteo p-please." she felt the tears begin to fall from her eyes.
"Do you hear that, cousin? The girl is begging you to stop."
Cousin?
Did Chandler just call Matteo his cousin? She had no idea that the two were related but thought they just had some bad history together. She was surprised to know that they were cousins.
"I already warned you to never go near her again. I hate repeating myself." Matteo said.
"And I already told you," he took a step closer towards Matteo, "Qualunque cosa tu abbia, io voglio." (whatever it is you have, I want)
Aurora screamed when Matteo grabbed Chandler's neck, in a quick motion slamming him against the wall. She could see how much of a grip he had on his neck from the way Chandler pried to get his hand away from him.
"Matteo!"
He ignored her and continued choking his cousin.
"Signore, the door was unlocked and I let myself-"
Aurora looked over at Reggie with teary eyes. Behind him walked in another man who was with them that day at the restaurant. They both stood baffled as they took in the scene before them.
"Shit." the black haired man cussed as he marched over towards Matteo.
Reggie, the blonde one who came over the night she stayed at Matteo's house walked over to her. She began to cry as he checked up on her, asking if she was okay. She didn't respond to him.
Her eyes were glued onto the commotion that was happening in front of her.
"Matteo basta." the dark haired man said. (Matteo that's enough)
He began to pull Matteo away from Chandler but it seemed that his ulterior motive was to truly kill him. It was a struggle to have Matteo let go of Chandler but after battling with him for a while, he finally let go.
The man mumbled some words to him but she couldn't understand them since they spoke in their language. Chandler started violently coughing and Reggie walked over to him.
She wrapped her body with her shaky hands. Reggie pulled Chandler up after yelling something in his language to him, managing to get a slap to the cheek in as well. He not so gently shoved him to the front making him leave with Reggie pushing him whenever he would slow down.
She couldn't fathom what had just occurred before her. Matteo for some reason in rage attacked Chandler for something so small, just asking her to hang out with him. She didn't understand why he reacted that way but he scared her.
She glanced at Matteo and the dark haired man who was still talking in their own language. He had his palm against his forehead and his other hand resting on his waist, he must be frustrated. Matteo however was looking at her, his eyes blank and his face wiped of any expression.
She saw the gun still in his hand and when he looked down to see what she was looking at, she sprinted away from them.
"Aurora." he called behind her.
She ignored him and ran all the way back to her room. She made sure to lock it so that he couldn't come in.
As soon as she felt a bit safe and secured she started crying. She fell backward onto the bed landing on her butt, pulling her knees under her chin. What she saw today was truly terrifying and she realized just house much of a stranger he was to her.
Kitty meowed as if sensing something was bothering her. The car tapped her leg with its paw grabbing her attention. Through her teary eyes she saw her cat looking up at her with big black eyes, like it was asking what was wrong.
"Oh Kitty." she whispered.
All she knew was that she might be regretting ever wanting to stay here.
