Aurora

There was whispering going on.

She didn't know where it came from but she grumbled to herself and pushed herself against his body. The whispers had turned into a squeal, followed by a bit of loud whispering. She couldn't make out what the hushed conversation was about but she found it a bit annoying.

She felt Matteo move next to her. "What the fuck is going on here?"

She heard the whispering stop and someone cleared their throat. "Rise and shine, Mr Bossman."

Reggie?

"This was just too cute. I mean she slept on you like a little kitten and it was just so adorable." she heard Cordelia say with excitement in her voice.

"Get out, both of you."

They whined. "I need a picture for my Instagram. The fans need to know if Marora became a thing."

"Marora? Seriously?" Cordelia asked.

"What? It's a cool ship name made up by yours truly."

"Get out." Matteo said to them.

Aurora smiled to herself before she felt herself fall back asleep.

She had joined them later in the morning after she had freshen up. There were a lot of questions that demanded answers from Aurora and she felt like she wanted to disappear. Reggie was adamant on knowing what exactly happened on the night of Matteo's birthday and it was clear that Matteo was irritated at their constant questioning.

"So, when is the wedding?" Reggie asked casually.

Aurora giggled at his silliness and Matteo deeply sighed.

"You idiot." said Cordelia. "They just started dating and it is way too early for that."

"Well you better get a move on. I want a nephew who will be as strong and handsome as me."

Aurora blushed and Cordelia rolled her eyes, as well as her brother. "If they do have a child, it will most likely be a girl. I want to take my niece shopping and we can gossip about boys."

"That child will be miserable." Reggie said.

Cordelia pinched his side. "What the hell, woman."

"She will only be miserable because she has an uncle who looks like a rat with rabies."

Reggie gasped and the two began arguing amongst themselves. Aurora was truly captivated by how an argument started by something so silly as them having children. Aurora looked over to Matteo and she saw him staring at the two with a look of boredom and she inwardly smiled at that look he gave.

"So, Aurora. Tell me about how Mr bossman asked you to be his lady. I honestly can't imagine it so I need a full description on how it went down." Reggie asked as he moved a bit closer to the edge of his seat.

Aurora felt her heart sink. Her lips twitched to move into a frown.

She looked at Cordelia who sipped on her coffee as she looked away to the side. Cordelia knew that Matteo and her were not a couple but it felt awkward to let Reggie know in front of everyone that they were in fact not dating. He seemed so excited to hear the news, news that was not true and the truth was going to be a bit too hard to say.

"Uhm." she stuttered, looking anywhere but at Reggie.

"She's not my girlfriend."

If it were even possible, she felt her chest hurt with an immense amount of pain from what she had heard. It did not appeal to her that words could ever affect someone that much that it would cause physical damage to the person. The words were so blunt, so carelessly told in a way that had her eyes brim with tears.

The room was silent.

The two people sitting across from them had not said a word. How could they even respond to that?

"Oh." that was the only reasonable response to something so dull and disappointing.

Reggie had appeared awkward after saying that and even he gave Aurora a sad look in return to what was said.

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

She was surprised at the tone that Cordelia used. Seeing her this upset was beyond her character but she ignored it, looking to the side she tried to ignore the hurt evident on her face.

"Are you fucking serious right now, Matteo?"

"Excuse me?" Matteo asked, confused.

"How the fuck can you even say something like that? What is wrong with you?" she snapped at him.

Aurora wiped her tears. "Cordelia." Cordelia looked at her. "It's fine. Please stop swearing."

"Aurora-"

She shook her head as she got up from her seat. She mustered a fake smile on her lips. "I-I just need a minute."

She knew she would start crying if she stayed a bit longer.

She quickly glanced at Matteo, her heart hurting to see the confused look etched on his face. He was confused. he looked as if he did not understand why the mood had dampened and why anyone of them was upset.

He hadn't realized what he had said and what he had inflicted on her.

Cordelia got up to go with her but she stopped her.

"I just need to be alone. Please?"

Cordelia looked at her with sad eyes before she disappeared to her room. She just wanted her Kitty right now.

Aurora dabbed her swollen eyes with the wet cloth and looked at herself in the mirror.

Bits of her hair began to untangle themselves from her two braids on her head. Her eyes had been swelled up from all the crying and the white in her eyes had been covered with a lush color of bright red. Her small nose was painted with the soft color of the shade of red from all the sniffling and wiping from the tissues.

She felt pathetic from crying so much from something so minor yet it had hurt her to an extent that she felt an overwhelming feeling of sadness. No matter what Matteo could say to her, his words had a deep and emotional effect on her that no other person could have. This was one of those moments where she wished that was not the case and she wished that he did not have such an effect on her.

It was frustrating but in all honesty, the feeling she had for him was the reason he could impact her life greatly.

She didn't want to back down to see them. She felt embarrassed to face them again and she especially did not want to see Matteo.

"She's not my girlfriend."

She knew she was not. Yet, the way he could carelessly say it to anyone as if she meant nothing to him hurt her so much.

She heard the door open and she felt her hurt flutter when she heard him call her name.

"Aurora?" he softly called for her.

She ignored the fuzzy feeling in her stomach and did not answer him.

The faucet was still running and that was the reason he came to the direction of the bathroom. She didn't look at him when he appeared at the door and she didn't look at him when he appeared next to her. Although he was causing warmth and comfort to spread through her body, she was angry at him.

"Aurora." he said her name.

She continued to ignore him.

"Aurora, will you look at me, please?"

She almost did what he asked but continued to not look at him.

He sighed. "Will you tell me what happened? What was it that made you so upset, hmm?"

He didn't even know what bothered her and she felt even more irritated. She thought that he had come to her to apologize but he didn't even know what he did wrong.

She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I don't feel like talking right now." she said, her voice barely audible.

"How should I know what is wrong if you won't talk to me?"

She shut the faucet and placed the cloth onto the counter. She ignored him as she passed him and walked into her bedroom.

"Aurora, I'm talking to you." he said, a bit more angry this time. "Did I do something wrong?"

She sighed to herself. "Just leave it, please."

He stepped towards her. "No. I clearly did something wrong and I want you to tell me. Cordelia is already upset with me for I don't know what."

"She should be." she muttered to herself.

Matteo wiped his face with his hands. "Can you just fucking tell me what the fuck is going on? This is really starting to piss me off."

She felt her body heat up with anger.

"You really don't feel even a bit bad of what you said?" she asked him.

Matteo furrowed his brows, looking confused. "What did I say?"

She shook her head as she scoffed to herself. She could feel herself wanting to cry once again and she hated herself for crying over something so small.

"Forget it, please. It's not that big of a deal anyway." she said the last part more to herself.

"It is a big deal if you and Cordelia are upset about it. She said I need to apologize to you and left without telling me why. Aurora, just fucking talk to me, baby."

Baby.

"Can you stop!" she felt the tears slip from her eyes. "Stop messing around with me. I don't like it."

He looked at her in shock, not expecting her to yell at him like that. She surprised herself as well but the way he was, it angered her so much.

"What am I to you anyway?" she whispered, closing her eyes as her body shook.

"What?" he whispered back.

She shook her head. "Please, just leave."

He didn't move and she continued to cry. She didn't want to see him right now, she felt so confused and hurt and having him there in her room just provoked those feelings even more.

"Aurora-"

"Matteo, leave, please."

When he still didn't move, she looked at him. "Go." she told him.

He looked at her for a few seconds, and she hated herself for wanting his arms around her. He gave her one last look before leaving her room.

Leaving her alone to cry to herself.
