Matteo
It hadn't been less than a second and he heard the soft sound of her feet hitting the floor as she followed behind him. He resisted the urge to smile due to the fact that it took one word for her to follow his order.
So responsive.
Matteo noticed that his men had watched him in disbelief as he walked away with the little girl behind him. His men must have thought that he was going to harm her, something that they had done in the past where they harm victims who saw what they did. It wasn't something new to the gang to see Matteo torturing an innocent man or woman, but what was new was that he let her off the hook.
Aurora however was someone he could not see laying a hand on. A vile act like that would eat away at his brain, for even considering touching her in such a way. He knew that it would be wrong of him to do something like that to her, but Matteo was not a soft person. A lesson has to still be taught to the girl on who she would he dealing with, adding Chandler into the equation.
He had to know how she knew him.
Matteo thought about that as he entered his office. The reason why he had a secluded area in the building was because he owns it, along with several other buildings that belong to him. Matteo had many connections with most of them resting on his father's name, but this restaurant was started by himself. He had built this restaurant from scratch and from the money that he had earned, which only a few people know about.
Matteo is a really simple person outside his line of work. The work that he does excluding the business of the mafia, Matteo is a man who owns several companies. If he was not working in the mafia, he could see himself earning a decent amount of money from how he is going about right now.
Matteo entered his office, having the girl follow him inside before closing the door. The office was a resemblance of his true nature, everything about the interior was dark from the walls that surrounded them, to his darkened mahogany desk situated at the window. The entire design was created by him, something that Matteo enjoyed doing which was creating things from scratch.
After he closed the door, Matteo walked over to his desk. His steps were in a strange way slow yet the way in which he walked looked like an officer who arrived to question a suspect. His hands in his pockets and his head hung slightly low. There was a dangerous aura that fogged up the office and it was something he was capable of doing in a natural way, being able to scare off people without even doing anything.
He had not looked at the girl yet who he still remembered was with him in the room. He could tell that she was nervous from the way she kept shuffling on her feet in the centre of his room and how she kept playing with her fingers. Seeing her fidget like that agitated him, it somehow ticked him off but he remained calm sensing that she was just nervous.
Something a lot of people felt when they were near him.
He came to a stand still when he approached the front of his desk, in a calculating manner he turned around to face her. Matteo then leaned against his desk, taking his hands out of his pocket he now folded them against his chest resting his right arm on his arm against his body.
He now began assessing her once again as he absentmindedly rubbed his slight stubble with the tips of his fingers, his eyes drinking in the sight of the small girl swallowed by the dark environment of his office.
He saw that she wasn't looking at him. She kept looking at the ground which made her look even smaller than she was from her shrunken shoulders and he couldn't come to terms with the immense amount of fear she felt. He noted that she was a timid girl amongst the crowd, someone who did not get out much often.
His eyes drank in the sight of the little frightened girl, how her fingers were tightly clutching the hem of her dress and he even noticed how her frail body shook.
Matteo felt his blood rush to the lower part of his body as his eyes zeroed in on the almost absent clothing she wore. The dress squeezed all of her assets as if it was consuming her body, it looked so tight on her but it hugged her figure just right. She was gifted in all the right places, with her tiny waist and her breasts looking good.
He began to think about other men with their hungry gazes all focused on Aurora, and for a reason he did not know, he became angered by that thought. It didn't sit well with him that other men could be watching her with those filthy thoughts embedded in them.
Matteo however did not care, he wanted the girl to have her eyes on him instead of the ground.
"Look at me." he said.
Matteo's lips itched to stretch into a smile as he saw how quick the girl was to look at him. There was no hesitation in her actions resulting in Matteo feeling a sense of pride in himself from how good she was.
Good girl.
Before he could open his mouth to further speak to her, she beat him to it.
"I-I'm sorry sir! I didn't mean to enter without permission. I didn't know t-there was another section to the cafe, I r-really thought it was a second bathroom. I won't tell anyone about what I s-saw but please don't hurt my friend."
Even though she raised her voice in obvious panic, it sounded like a mouse had just spoken to him. He could tell she tried to stand up for herself yet she lacked the necessary confidence one would need for themself, her voice being too soft for her own good.
Matteo's jaw clenched as she spoke about Chandler referring to him as her friend. An innocent little girl like her couldn't possibly be friends with a cunning boy like Chandler.
"How do you know Chandler?" he asked her.
"I met him at the cafe. We b-both work here." she answered him, her eyes wavering from his intense gaze on her for a moment.
Matteo hummed in response. The thought of this girl working in the same place as his shithead of a cousin did not sit well with him. Out of all girls, Chandler had to become friends with this one. He was not fond of the idea of the two of them possibly becoming even more closer than they already are, because he knew the ways of his cousin.
That asshole won't even think twice about crushing this girl.
However he couldn't help but feel better once he learnt that this girl was working for him. He had never seen her working here before and he was glad that he showed up for the first time in months to this cafe.
It seemed that she didn't know who truly owned this cafe and he was pleased to know that she was set on thinking Aunt Jocelyne was the owner. He wasn't going to tell her, yet.
"How d-do you know him?" she asked him, her voice very careful as she asked him that.
Matteo kept quiet as he didn't feel the need to owe her any type of explanation, not that he was entitled to do so. There was also the thought at the back of his mind of letting this little girl not know anything connected to any of his business. He was more concerned over the fact that Chandler could have her tangled into every dirty work that he is doing.
"Will you let him go?" she asked him, with a hint of hope in her voice.
"No."
Aurora gasped lightly. "B-but his my only friend. He has d-done nothing wrong to me or anyone. P-please sir, could you let him go?"
"Please sir."
Matteo inwardly grunted as he heard the little girl beg in front of him. He couldn't physically stand there before her while she pleaded with him with her eyes on the brink of tear, her mouth forming a slight pout and her soft voice muttering little pleas to him. Matteo found it hard to look away from her, she had him captivated by an innocent act.
He needs to get a grip.
"Hmmm. Why should I?" he spoke in a low voice yet laced in his words was menace. He spoke in a way that held a sense of humor in them even though it was a simple question, his voice was taunting.
He noticed that she was hesitant to answer as her mouth opened and closed, trying to figure out an answer to give to him. He thought that there was nothing that she was going to respond to him with, but oh was he wrong when she replied and it had Matteo chuckling but not in a good way.
"He's a g-good person."
He let out a dark chuckle. A quiet yet menacing chuckle. "Good? You are an imbecile if you ever believed that Chandler has the mentality of a normal man."
He noticed how she flinched at the insulting term he used but it was not aimed at her, yet she took offense. He could easily formulate the conclusion of this girl being as sensitive as a toddler being picked on by bullies.
He was getting riled up by the fact that not only were they discussing his poor excuse of a cousin, but also the displeasing thought of this girl defending that bastard. Matteo found it difficult to understand why she was attached to him in the possible short time that they knew each other.
He began to lose his patience when it came to the time he would finally kill Chandler.
"You are not good either." she muttered.
Matteo made a sound that agreed with her accusation as he was not affected by what she said.
"Y-you are worse."
There was a pregnant pause between the man and the little girl infront of him. Matteo had his eyes slowly narrowed at the frail lamb stood before him, with his hand twitching at the need for an urgent slap. His body was frozen to the floor, his posture rigid as he stood watching her in a clueless state for his sudden silence.
"Ripetilo?" (repeat that)
His voice.
His voice was even lower than it was before due to the trembling anger that could be heard if he raised his voice at her. There was a sudden shift in the air as his mood began go darken with every second that passed between them, while he stood staring at the girl he wanted to teach a lesson to.
"You want to repeat that, little lamb?"
Pushing himself off the desk, he started making his way toward her in a slow and steady pace. After a little while he was finally stood before her, his large frame even more threatening as he looked down at her.
Glazed doe eyes looked up at him and he almost smile at the beautiful fear laced in those eyes of hers. He was a man who fed off on fear, he thrived for the fear of others.
"What's wrong?" he chuckled darkly.
His nostrils began to flare as he kept stepping forward while Aurora backed away from him. He could not help but enjoy the moment as he scared this little lamb in front of him, the shake of her body and the little whimper that left her mouth when he neared her.
He fucking loved it.
This was who Matteo was.
He was a monster. A monster who had no remorse who what he inflicted on the victims he had given a merciless death to and the people he had ruthlessly injured. He could care less if they were women or children, if they had done him wrong he wouldn't blink before he snapped them in half. Matteo was a man who was raised to never consider the emotions of other people and to never show mercy.
He could care less about morales. All Matteo cared about was inflicting the pain on those who have done bad to others, and adding more to the pain and distress they have caused. Matteo in his own twisted way enjoyed the great satisfaction he brought on those, by simply behaving in a sinister way.
There was a natural way in how he did things. The way he was raised determined the type of man his father was. His father was a man of great respect, but he was the devil in disguise. Matteo however had no intention of being like his father, yet everything he did was a replica of what his father did when he was his son's age.
None of them cared about the people they hurt.
Placing both hands on either side of her head he dipped his head in the gentle slope of her neck. Inhaling a deep breathe, his nostrils were immediately filled with the scent of strawberries. Such a sweet smell that it sent a satisfied growl to erupt from his throat, causing the vibrations to sent goosebumps to awake on her skin.
Matteo asked in a mocking tone, "Scared?"
He could see her body quivering underneath him, like a trembling leaf she shook. It was a vile act to any humane person to find sorrow in watching a person shake in fear, but Matteo's smirk widened.
"Are y-you going to kill me?"
Matteo's lips brushed against the shell of her ear as he whispered the words, "Should I?"
He was not one to play around with his victims or anyone for that matter. He was a very impatient man and did not enjoy the conversation between him and the people he was about to end. Yet he couldn't bring himself to stop conversing with this girl he had in his grasp, not physically but Matteo had a forceful pressure with him that had people stuck in his presence. No one dared to even bother to escape him as they faced their punishment once he grabbed hold of them.
There was something joyous about the way he teased her. It was as if her life was dangling in front of him.
"A m-monster."
His body went rigid when his ears failed to capture the words that left her lips.
"Hmm?"
Teary eyes met with his. "You're a monster."
He moved a few inches away from her, his brows dipping low to mimic a confused comical expression. Even though he backed away from her, the close proximity still had the girl cowering in fear.
"I haven't even done anything, agnellino." (little lamb)
The girl sniffled. "You h-hurt my friend. Only monsters hurt innocent p-people."
Matteo's fingers captured a lock of the girl's luscious hair. Twirling it between his fingers, he examined it as it was something that captured his eyes the first time he saw her.
He was quiet for a while and the silence that hung between the two of them was unsettling, but only according to the one. For a while he toyed around with her hair while the girl whimpered in front of him, but Matteo was one to never consider another's people. He let her cry silently to herself, her cheeks turning into a rose color from wiping her face too many times.
After some time his hand fell limply to his side, and he stepped away from her. His face became void of any emotion as if he had not interacted with her in any way.
"You and your friend..."
He studied her face one last time before turning his back on her, "are to leave this building."
Hi author here. The book is back up because I felt like writing again and I missed writing these two characters. How do you like Matteo so far?
Let me know what you think :)
