Matteo

A week.

She hasn't eaten anything for an entire fucking week.

Was there no one who was taking care of her?

Matteo was angered by the reality of the absence of any meat on her bones. Aurora had a beautiful figure, gifted with a good set of assets and delicious curves. But the more time he spent watching her, the more he could see her body looking frail and thin.

He remembered last night when he saw her small figure swaying in the dark of the night, only the slightest light of the street light giving him an idea of who it was. He had seen her come out of the cafe and trying to be as discreet as he could, watch her walk home.

There was no way he was going to have her walk home alone, knowing of all the dangers there were lurking in the shadows of the night. She was a young girl, beautiful too, who was walking alone at night. He kept following her to make sure she would not run into trouble.

If Reggie and Vincent saw what he was doing, they would have never let this memory slide.

It was a good thing that Matteo had decided to take it upon himself to watch her arrive safely at home. However plans have changed when he saw her movements began to mimic the ones of a drunk person, having too much alcohol in their system. He was confused as he saw her stumbling around thinking that she might be intoxicated, but something didn't look quite right to him.

The moment he saw her clutch her head he knew something was off and started walking towards her. That was when she fainted and not knowing where she lived, he took her back to his place.

He set aside some clothes for her to wear. His clothes to be frank.

Matteo had never brought a woman home before, he never wanted to bring a woman home but oh how strange this was. Given the circumstances of why she was here still didn't change the feeling of something strange settling in his chest.

He ignored it and decided to tell his maid to prepare something for Aurora while she was in the shower. While his maid was busy making dinner and Aurora was on the shower, he decided to check on what his men were up to.

He called Vincent and after a few rings he picked up. "We are at the shipment pickup, boss. The Russian's are arriving in about ten minutes to deliver our packages."

Matteo smiled slightly at the immediate news Vincent had spilled. He was deeply impressed with how much of a good second in command Vincent was, and he was a damn good one at that.

"Fammi sapere come va." he told Vincent. (Let me know how it goes.)

"Yes boss."

Matteo ended the call and checked on his emails. It was just another night of handling workload, making sure that everything was in order. He was a fucking lunatic when it came to checking on his stock every minute of the day to ensure that not a single thing was missing. He was very possessive over the things he owned, the main one being weapons which the Italians had most ownership over.

Many of the other mafia leaders seek partnership with Matteo from the hefty amount of weapons they held in their grasp. It didn't do much for them to give up their weapons since all the other mafia could do was trade them with coke and other sorts of drugs. Over time it became boring to just be supplied drugs all the time and that was when Matteo to shut down all trading with his mafia.

He couldn't care less about the loss of drugs. Weapons were a crucial thing in the mafia world, and until he gets something more valuable to trade then the weapons are his.

Matteo wasn't always absent in his workplace, he just preferred working alone with no disruptions. Everyone under him knew of how reserved Matteo was and the kind of guy he was, always working on the sidelines and controlling his mafia but he was a very good leader.

He looked down at his watch on his wrist and saw that it was quite a while that Aurora had been in the shower. He didn't ponder on it for too long since it was understandable that she might not be familiar with his bathroom.

He heard someone clear their throat next to him and peered up to see Aurora standing opposite him. He was a bit surprised at how stealthy she was that he didn't even hear her footsteps or notice her presence until she cleared her throat. His eyes scanned her body as he drank in the sight before him of her wearing his clothes.

She was so fucking tiny.

The sweater that he borrowed her had reached her knees and she discarded the pants that he had given her to wear. Even though his sweater sat just above her knees, he still got the pleasant view of seeing her long legs on display. It was an adorable sight before him to see how good she looked in his clothes with her damp her flowing down the sides of her face.

She really was a beauty.

He hadn't realized that he was staring at her the entire time without saying anything to her. The silence between them thickening.

Say something to her you fucker.

Matteo cleared his throat. "Hungry?"

Aurora gave him a small nod, her gaze still focused on the floor. It didn't sit well with Matteo to know that it was all she did whenever they were near each other. He hated when she shrunk whenever he came close to her and looked as if she wanted go run away from him whenever she saw him.

Matteo led her to the dining room just in time to see Malinda setting the table. He sat down and Aurora joined in, sitting next to him. Matteo thanked Malinda and she just gave him a slight bow before disappearing.

Matteo saw her eyes widen as she took in the sight of all the different sorts of food displayed before her. It was as if she had never seen food in her entire life and for once, he felt a bit sad for her.

"Eat." he told her.

She shakily picked up her fork and started poking the food. He kept a stern look on his face when she looked up at him and deciding it was futile to go against his order, she hesitantly placed a piece of chicken in front of her mouth.

After a few seconds she gave in and started eating. As soon as he decided to dig into his meal too his movements froze when he heard the slight moan Aurora released when she tasted her food.

It wasn't meant to give the wrong impression because she was just enjoying her food, but that sound was anything but innocent to his ears.

"I-I don't remember the last time I had s-so much food."

Matteo looked at Aurora and saw her eyes began to fill up with tears. There was a faint smile on her face but it was a sad smile, and it was something that got him feeling bad for her.

As much as he wanted to say something to her, he didn't. It wasn't that Matteo was bad at conversation, he was indeed, but he didn't like showing comfort towards others. He didn't grow up showing an ounce of affection and felt it would be useless to fake his affection for her.

Matteo couldn't help but ask her a question that kept bothering him. "Where is your family?"

Aurora was quiet for a while and he knew he must have touched on a sore topic. He remembered that she told him about Jocelyne, the woman who managed his cafe for him and her bitch of a daughter. Aurora said that she was the only thing she had that came close to being family, but he wanted to know about her actual family and where they were.

"I don't have family." she whispered.

He didn't want to go further into the topic and Matteo wasn't pleased when he saw that she hadn't even finished half of her plate. "Eat more."

She shook her head. "I-I can't."

"Aurora."

"I'm full." she whined.

He sighed. "Two more bites and you can have cookies."

"R-really?"

He gave her a nod in response.

He saw her excited grin on her face and she immediately dug into her meal. He was surprised to see that she had eaten a bit more than what he vouched for. He mentally praised her in her head but found himself saying,

"Good girl."

Her cheeks turned pink at his praise and Matteo inwardly smirked at the effect his words had on her.

Matteo and Aurora were sitting on the couch, Aurora happily digging into her cookies and Matteo just watching her. She would once in a while sip on her glass of milk and stuff her mouth the cookies, the sight being adorable to his eyes.

He wanted to know more about her.

There was still no care in his heart for Aurora. He saw her as just another woman and a woman who just worked for him in his cafe, but there was a feeling of wanting to understand this girl. A young, little girl like her who appeared to be broken but had herself well composed to cause an illusion that she was okay was a mystery for him.

He never forgot their moment in the park when she had confided in him and told him nearly everything about her. He knew a part of what she was going through and what she dealt with, but he knew at the back of his mind that there was a shit ton more to her. There wasn't a need to want to know more about her but to calm his racing mind, he wanted to do it for interest sake.

"Good?" he asked her, referring to the cookies.

She gave him a toothy grin. "Good."

There was a loud bang on the door, which was soon followed by a couple of more bangs. There was a type of rhythm to it that Matteo could immediately pinpoint who the fucker was that was banging like a psycho against his door.

Aurora perked up, her face alarmed by the sudden noise. Matteo told her to stay calm and made his way to the door. He braced himself for the moment he would open the door by inhaling a sharp breath and then he opened it.

"You know I think it's unfair that you allow Vincent to have a spare key and not me. What is this favoritism, brother?" he heard a complaint just when he opened the door.

"What do you want, Reggie?" he asked annoyed.

Reggie smirked at Matteo. "Is that anyway to greet your favorite person in the whole wide world?"

Matteo had to calm himself down before he found himself punching the annoying brute in his face. He was in no mood to be entertaining Reggie's childish shit especially when he had Aurora sitting in the other room of his house.

Matteo gave Reggie a bored look. Reggie sighed. "You need to learn how to let loose, you're always so cranky. Anyway-"

Reggie maneuvered himself through the opening under Matteo's arm. "-you up for a drink?"

Before Matteo could respond, Reggie was already walking in the direction of his lounge. It was the place where there was a shelf filled with his favorite assortment of wine but the problem was, Aurora was sitting in that same lounge.

He didn't want Reggie getting the wrong idea but that was too late because he soon heard a loud screech coming from the lounge.

"What the fuck?!"

Oh boy.

Guess who decided to do a double update... he he he
