Together Morgan and I dozed on and off for a while. The mid evening sky was starting to turn colors and I knew we were getting closer to sunset now after a bit of the sun landed in my eyes for a bit too long and woke me up. Morgan still hasn't moved an inch from where she rolled on top of me after we finished and I didn't want to wake her up but I was starting to get painfully hungry and I needed to use the bathroom.

Carefully, I started to run my fingers up and down Morgan's spine and increase the pressure of my touch to rouse her from sleep. I watched as Morgan's body started to wake up and I couldn't help but smile when I saw her forehead scrunch up before moving her face directly into the sun beam that's coming in from the window. Morgan instantly groaned and rolled back to her initial position before slowly opening her eyes to find me.

"That was mean." Morgan pouted and I couldn't help but give her a kiss on the forehead to stop her from pouting.

"You moved your head not me, but while I have your attention, if I don't use the bathroom within the next few moments, I might actually explode." I said softly.

Morgan groaned and rolled off me freeing me from the bed and which I quickly got up from and ran off to the bathroom to relieve myself. While I was in the bathroom, I took a few minutes to clean myself up and couldn't help but notice all the bite marks along my neck, chest and hips. One on my right hip just above another scar was in the shape of a heart and I couldn't help but feel my eyes water. I tried not to stay in the bathroom for much longer after I wash my face and brushed my teeth.

I didn't bother going back into Morgans room right away. Instead I went down the hall to my own bedroom and pulled out some clean pajamas and put them on. Just as I was finishing up I turned to leave my room and found Morgan staring at me. She only pulled on a pair of underwear and the rest of her body was on full display.

"I was thinking about making breakfast for dinner, any chance we have eggs?" I asked walking up to her.

"Yea I got some the other day when I got back. Get started, I'll be down in minute." Morgan said as I wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Yes ma'am." I said and leaned in to give her a kiss. The kiss had all the passion in it and I couldn't believe how lucky I am to have this women love me back.

When I pulled away Morgan gave me a small smile before moving out of my way. I gave her a kiss on the cheek before walking downstairs to the kitchen. I was able to find everything I needed for pancakes and eggs and quickly got to work making a tall stack of pancakes before I started on the eggs. Morgan only likes scrambled eggs so I made a large batch for the both of us to share. Just as I was putting the plate on the table, I heard Morgan walk into the kitchen and turned to find she put on some clothes, much to my disappointment, wearing an army green sweatshirt and a pair of shorts. After I pulled the pan from the burner and turned off the stove, I walked over to the table and watched as Morgan grab us both plates and utensils before sitting down.

After grabbing the syrup, butter and two bottles of water I joined her at the table and together we started to take down the feast I made. We both ate in silence, both of us still in our own little worlds for the moment. As we finished up our food we cleaned everything up and put all the dishes in the dishwasher before settling down on the couch together.

"Did you know?" Morgan asked after we've been settled for a little bit. The question came as a little bit of a shock as it broke up the quiet moment we were in. The actual question had me a little stunned and I pulled Morgan a little closer to me before responding.

"No, I only found out when I walked into the office this morning with Major. She said that you were selected from the pool of intel specialist because of your previous combat experience and also the fact that we've worked in that world together." I said.

"That's pushing six years ago Dani." Morgan exhaled.

"I know. Major told me that rank isn't going to matter if we actually get deployed there. You're just going to be another member of my team. She was actually really pushy on that front." I said.

"If we are going into the middle of a warzone, I'm going to be following your lead regardless. That is your area of expertise Daniella." Morgan said and turned her head to look at me.

"Okay, tomorrow at 12:00 we are meeting with the team in our cages. You need to come with us because I want to outfit you with everything you might need. You'll also be code name Gold-13 officially. When we get to base tomorrow, I'll give you a team roster file so you can get to know who does what on my team." I said.

"That's fine. I'll need to see my CO tomorrow anyway to get everything he wants me to take over there anyway, anything else you think I need to know about the mission?" Morgan asked.

"Not right now no." I said thinking I covered everything I needed to tell Morgan.

"So then how about you tell me about the rest of your time at home." Morgan asked and I couldn't help but sigh.

"It was hard. Mom and I emptied dads office then the four of us went to the condo and went through some stuff. I mainly just collected the stuff from my room to bring it all home. Then I cleared out dads gun safe, took home two of his guns, they are in the truck along with mine. Also took some dads clothes because it somehow felt like he was hugging me when I put them on. I also have the letter he wrote to you in my bag along with the jacket he wanted you to have." I said and cleared my throat to try and get the lump out.

"We should probably get working on bringing all of that inside don't you think?" Morgan asked.

"Yea, but there is something else I need to talk to you about." I said and pulled away from Morgan. I doubted she would want to touch me while I told her about what else happened at home.

"I finally got the chance to talk and clear the air with Mallory. While we were talking, we did kiss once. For me, it was like finally getting to close the chapter that was our relationship and I wanted to tell you before things went any further with you because you deserved to know." I said looking down at my hands, not wanting to see her reaction.

It was silent for a few moments before I heard movement. I didn't want to look up to see Morgan walk away so I just kept my head down. But I was surprised to feel Morgan's hand land on my chin and pulled my face up. Once my eyes met hers, Morgan sat down on my lap, straddling me.

"We both had flings while we weren't together and I'm not going to fault you for having them. Mallory was apart of your past, a huge part of it and I know how important that talk was for you both. As far as that kiss, I'm not to concerned about it because look where you are right now, home, with me in your lap." Morgan said.

I couldn't help but lean into her space and press my forehead to hers. The urge to kiss her again is so strong it's taking everything in me to hold back.

"We are about to go into a warzone Morgan and we have the chain of command to worry about. If someone finds out about this we both could be reassigned. I can't stand the thought of having you sent to work with another team on a different base." I confessed the fear that I have been trying to keep at bay.

"I know. We only have another two days here then we are going to be shipped off. Even if someone does find out, it's too late to find replacements who are mission ready to handle something of this scope. We will just continue to keep this private, no sneaking around behind closed doors when we get there because we don't know who will be lurking around the corners. We will worry about everything else when we get home, together." Morgan said trying to sooth my fears.

"Okay" I nodded and leaned in to finally kiss her. It only took a few seconds for her to response to my kiss and things were getting heated again.

I pulled away and sat back on the couch when I needed some air. As much as I would love to go for another few rounds with Morgan right now, I needed to bring my stuff inside the house.

"Hey, we can continue this in a little bit. Can you help me bring everything inside?" I asked drawing circles on Morgans hip.

Morgan only nodded and slowly hopped off my lap. She held out her hand and together we walked to the interior garage door. I propped it open while Morgan went inside and dropped the tail gate. Together, it took us about ten minutes to bring all of the boxes inside and up to my room. I left my gun case in the bed of the truck as I knew I needed to bring it with me to base tomorrow. With everything in my room I looked around and knew I wanted to unpack this stuff now.

"I'm going to start going through this now, I'm not going to have the time to do it tomorrow." I said and turned to face Morgan.

"You want help?" Morgan asked.

"I can do it myself, thank you. I'll come find you in a little bit okay?" I said.

"Yea, take all the time you need. I'm going to start getting some stuff together myself." Morgan said and gave me a smile.

I nodded and started on pulling out the new guns from the case I brought home from dads house. Once I stored those in my gun safe, I grabbed a knife and opened up one of the boxes. The first box I opened was the one that held dads shadow box and flag. I sighed and brought both of them downstairs. I had to put them down stairs because I couldn't look at them in my room while I'm unpacking otherwise I wouldn't be able to get through them.

I was able to make quick work of the rest of the boxes and when I finally finished, I grabbed dad's camo jacket and letter that's addressed to Morgan and walked to her room. Morgan was just sitting on her bed looking down at her phone when I walked in. Quietly, I sat down next to her. Morgan leaned into me and finally put her phone down.

"You done yet?" Morgan asked.

"Almost, I wanted to give these to you." I said and held out the items dad wanted her to have. Morgans entire demeanor changed and I could see the tears welling in her eyes as she took the letter from my hand. I placed the jacket around her shoulders as she stared down at the letter for a few seconds before she sighed.

"I'll come find you when I'm done reading this." Morgan said not taking her eyes off the letter.

"I'll be right down the hall when you're done." I said and kissed the side of her head to leave her too it.

When I got back into my own room, I pulled my own letter out of my backpack and sat down on my bed. I took a few deep breaths before opening the envelope and pulled out the letter. The letter wasn't long, just one side of a piece of lined paper, written in black ink and dads messy half script.

I know a day will come when you are going to read this. I hope it isn't any time soon though. You just got promoted to lead your own Ranger squad and I couldn't be prouder of you Dani. I hope it is everything you wanted it to be, something you worked hard for every single day and you got all on your own.

But I want you to know that the Army isn't the be all, end all. There is life outside of it. I know you don't think there is life outside of the Army but I promise you there is. I want you to have a beautiful and full life, with a wife and maybe a kid or two that won't have to worry about you being killed on the other side of the world and come home in a box.

I never learned that lesson with your mom and it's the biggest regret of my life. I know that I shouldn't have, but the Army became my life because I let it. It doesn't have to be the same way for you. So enjoy your time but don't take another long term contract.

I know your start in the Army was rocky. I saw it in your face when I dropped you off at the base for boot camp. Then I started to see you come alive when you started to live with Morgan. I knew you two became battle buddies from your letters then when you came and asked for some help for a deposit on a house, I thought you two were together. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin it but then I found out that you guys were only just friends. I hope by the time you read this letter that that has changed. You two care so deeply about each other and the only two people who don't know that are you and Morgan.

Learn from my mistake Daniella, go and get the girl then hold onto her and don't let her go. Once you have her and the future is secure, get out of the Army. There are plenty of other jobs you can do with your experience. So go get her Dani, don't wait.

Take care of Dominic, make sure the kid says on the straightened arrow, well if he isn't straight that's fine as well, shit, you know what I mean. He's your little brother Dani, always protect him.

As for your mom, make sure you tell her how much you love her every time you speak to her. She deserves that for all we put her through. I know Peyton is there to protect her heart but if she breaks it and I'm not around anymore, you have my permission to do anything you need to remove Peyton from moms life.

I love you with everything in my being Dani, love dad.

My breath caught in my throat as I finished reading the letter. I let it fall to the floor and just put my head in my hands. Tears were once again flowing from my eyes and I just hoped that they would stop some time tonight. Just when I thought I finally shed all of the tears I had for dad, they were back again.

"Fuck" I said through a sob and tried to wipe away the tears coming from my eyes. I closed my eyes and took a few breaths and when I opened them again I found Morgan standing in front of me with tears running down her cheeks.

"Come to bed with me, please." Morgan said barely above a whisper. I could only nod and followed after her back to her room.

We both got ready for bed quickly, only just realizing the late hour now. I made sure I had an alarm set for tomorrow morning to give us enough time to get to base then striped out of the pajamas I put on, only leaving my boy shorts on before climbing into bed. Morgan wasn't long behind me after she shut her bedroom door and the turned the lights off.

Once Morgan got into bed I pulled her into me and she put her head on my chest. My mind was still turning about the contents of the letter and I couldn't help but pull Morgan in close to me.

"After my contract is up, I'm done." I said feeling the weigh on my shoulders slowly start to lift.

"What are you going to do?" Morgan asked.

"I still have two years left on my contract so I have time to think about it, the only thing I'm sure of is that I just want to be with you." I said. I felt Morgan kiss my chest.

"I love you Dani." Morgan said.

"I love you too Morgan." I said and finally felt my brain start to settle down as sleep came over both of us.
