I'm not writing a prologue ..





I woke up to my alarm going off and I quickly shoved it to the ground not wanting to hear it anymore.

Damn that's my third one this week and it's only Thursday but I'd say we're making progress.

I slowly got up and went straight to the bathroom so I could shower.

Her outfit..



Imagine what you want ..

Once I got out I did my morning routine which consisted of brushing my teeth, doing my skin care and I'm sure you know what else goes down.

After that was all done I made sure i had everything before walking downstairs and out the door.

I put my hand on the tablet and heard the door lock so me being satisfied I went to my motorcycle.

Let me introduce myself.. I'm Janessa. There's not really much to say exactly in this moment but eventually you'll learn more about me.

I'm currently heading to school. I graduated high school at 15 and the only reason I go is so I don't get in trouble with the law.

I'd clearly be able to get myself out of it but honestly who wants to go through all that.

< about 10 mins later >

I finally made it to school and of course everybody watched so I'm assuming they have nothing better to do per usual.

I got off my bike and started walking only for my best friend Diana to run up to me.

" baddie per usual " she said kissing my cheek and I looked at her outfit.

" thank you and look at you " I said with the same energy and she flipped her hair.

" aww you're sweet " she said with a smile and we began walking.

I know you're probably wondering where my daughter is and she's with her dad. It's his week to get her and he's like thirty minutes away.

Then Stephanie wouldn't be coming today or tomorrow because she's visiting family in another state.

" I'm ready to get this day over with already " Diana groaned and i nodded in agreement.



" So how's the case coming? " I asked Katherine.

" it's going quite well father " she said and it went silent.

When we ate breakfast it was always either formal or silent.

Every now and then some of them would pitch in a conversation but I guess todays not that day.

My phone rang and I looked at the number before answering it.

" what do you want and how did you get my number? " I asked coldly.

" I'm kina moore with child protective services and I'm calling you about a girl we have here " the lady said.

" what does that have to do with me? " I asked impatiently.

" According to dna test she's the biological daughter of you and Margret raines.. this is Joseph Raines right? " she said which made my heart drop.

" What's her name? " I asked.

" Janessa " the lady said and I felt the burning sensation of tears ready to hit and pushed it back.

" Yes I'm Joseph but how do I know you're telling the truth and that this isn't some sort of prank " I said angrily and they all looked at me.

" Sir dna doesn't lie and you can come down here to see for yourself " she said.

" Where is there? " I asked feeling skeptical.

" Baltimore Maryland "

" I'll be there soon " I said and hung up.

My thoughts ran wild.

I mean could it be her? The lady sounded serious and part of me believes her.

I instantly grew happy and I know I shouldn't get my hopes up as usual but something tells me this is her.

" Father what is it? " my eldest said snapping me out of my thoughts and I looked to see them all staring at me curiously.

" I just got a call that they have a girl in Maryland and according to dna she's my daughter " I said and some looked angry while some had tears.

" oh come on don't tell me you're falling for this again " Jamie said with a scoff.

" something tells me this is her " I said and Katherine stood up.

" I have a case " she said walking away.

" I'm going to my room, have fun " Jamie said walking away.

" I have patients to attend to " Nathan added on after a few seconds and left.

So now it was just me and my two oldest.

" We'll come with you " Simon said also standing up.



< 3 hours later >

* RING! *

Ah and there's the bell. Two classes down and like 3 more to go- yay!

That was totally sarcastic.

Anywho..

I grabbed my backpack and exited out the classroom only for my name to be called on the intercom.

" JANESSA RILEY TO THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY! "

I groaned and walked to the office with a emotionless face on.

Honestly that face is always on and if it's not then that's very rare.

.. and don't ask me where I got the last name Riley from.

After walking down the hall I eventually made it to the front office door.

I kicked the door open and walked in not missing the sigh from the principal.

" Don't get mad because what did you expect when you called me in here. " i said coldly and sat down.

" There are some people here who have something very important to discuss with you that unfortunately you need to hear " the principal said standing up.

I rolled my eyes and turned the chair so that I was facing whoever they are.

I saw three men in expensive ass suits, a woman and a male police officer.

This should be interesting..

I watched as the principal left out and the air was just silent so I talked.

" you pulled me out of my wonderful learning for this so i'd love it if someone talked " I said oh so sarcastically.

" Hi I'm Kina Moore and I work with cps " the lady said making me roll my eyes.

" who snitched.. " I asked which sounded like a statement and she looked at me confused.

" I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean.. " she trailed off confusingly.

" I'm sorry then I don't know what I mean either " I said shrugging my shoulders.

" I'm Officer Thomas and I'm sorry to tell you this but unfortunately your foster parents have died " he said with pity and i internally smirked.

" I'm so sorry to hear that " I said blankly and everybody looked at me weirdly.

" to the orphanage i go " I said with a dramatic sigh and stood up.

" Actually that's not the case " the woman said and not gonna lie I was confused but I didn't show it.

" well I'd love for you to hurry up and get to the case " I said emphasizing the word case.

" I'm your biological father and I'll be taking you in " the older guy in the suit said and I looked him up and down.

I saw a gun in his waistband.

So then I turned to the other two men and looked them up and down also seeing a gun in their waistbands.

I noticed the one with green eyes try to hide it but he clearly failed.

" I'll take the orphanage for 200 " I said looking at the lady.

" He signed the papers so you have to go with him until you're 18.. " she said softly.

" but that's about a year away " I said coldly.

" If you need anything you call me " she said giving me her card.

I put her card in my pocket and the other dude spoke.

" I'm you're oldest brother- Jeremy "

Then the other one spoke.

" I'm your second oldest- Simon "

" Good for you " I said getting up and walking out of the office.

I pulled out my phone and texted Diana to meet me outside as I started walking towards the front.

When i got outside I went straight to my motorcycle and turned it on.

I looked around and saw two suvs- damn the people aren't even discreet.

I got on my motorcycle and drove to the front of the school so I could wait for her to come out.

After a few seconds she came out running and put her hands on her knees while breathing hard.

" bitch I'm tired " she said making me laugh.

" it's not funny man " she said and walked up to me.

" so what's up? " she asked leaning on my motorcycle.
