Ashlynn's POV~
I sat at the table, my mind trying to figure out why in the hell did she bring that stuff in her bag to the ball.
I know the only reason she must have these here was if the Spanish were planning an attack tonight.
But why? What benefit could they possibly gain by attacking these people?
Unless it's a distraction.
Uh oh.
I texted Ace to insure that security was tight at all the bases tonight, even though I was pretty sure they weren't gonna attack our warehouses.
They were gonna attack the Dobrev mansion.
Everly probably knows and has most likely seen that I keep my laptop in my room along with some of the drives and disks.
It appears to be a normal MacBook to binge Netflix and shit, but it actually contain about half the information of our shipments, dealers and mission reports in general. So yeah, basically they're important. Like, REALLY important.
Even though they're kept in a very secure place and are encrypted by the safest secure system ever created, they can still be destroyed physically.
And that could do a lot of damage as it has some of our most important contracts and files. If Everly really was working with the Spanish, then that was probably the place to start.
Maybe they had a hunch that I was doubtful of her.
I mean don't get me wrong, being the paranoid person I am, I never fully trusted her but I never showed it though.
How could she possibly know that I was suspicious of her?
Keeping those thoughts for later I decided to go with my gut for the time being..
Just as I was thinking of an excuse to leave, the two faced bitch beat me to it.
"Tonight's been great but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to leave now. I have a shift in the morning and I can't be late for it. I'll see you guys tomorrow though" Everly announced and got up, picking up her bag as she kissed Jeremy goodbye.
She smiled at me and waved, while I did the same.
Don't want her getting suspicious just yet.
Being paranoid really payed off, huh?
After me and Jeremy watched her get to her car and drive away, the music suddenly stopped and the lights went out.
Obvious enough?
A few men wearing the identical robber masks barged in and started firing around. Some of the people started screaming while the others took out their own weapons and started shooting back.
I took cover under one of the tables as I unstrapped my own gun from my leg. Jeremy looked at me with raised eyebrows, as if asking something.
"Please tell me you have a gun on you" I narrowed my eyes.
His silence was enough of an answer so I passed him one of mine after sighing in disappointment.
I don't have time for this right now.
During the crossfire, I nudged Jeremy and whispered him to give me the keys of the car in which we came.
Gosh the one time I didn't come on my own bike.
"What" He whisper-yelled with his eyebrows knitted together.
"Give me the damn car keys"
"Why, you wanna run away from the fight? So much for being an undefeated assassin" He scoffed, shaking his head in my direction.
I swear to god if I had the time right now, I would have punched him.
Actually, screw that, I did punch him.
Right in the jaw.
It didn't only feel so good, it even made a satisfying crack sound. It was like music to my ears while he clenched it and groaned in pain.
"I wasn't asking" I narrowed my eyes as he hesitantly reached his hand towards the inner pocket of his coat and pulled out the keys.
I snatched it from his hand and got out of my spot, running towards the nearby windows and ducking or jumping over all the bullets that were being fired at me.
I opened the window as fast as I could and jumped out. Thankfully, the hall was on the first floor only, so I did a backflip mid-air and landed on the ground perfectly, without dying or getting injured.
Nope, I definitely broke my ankle or something.
I've had a lot of experience in jumping out of windows on missions here and there on as it is quite awesome really. It feels so badass and makes one hell of an exit, leaving everyone stunned. Besides, I'm good at it. And doing it in a dress? I couldn't think of anything more badder.
But one should really think about jumping out of a window while wearing pencil high heels.
I know, I'm pretty stupid.
I ran off towards the car, not dwelling on the ankle for too long. Just as I put the keys in and turned on the engine, the door of the passenger seat opened and Jeremy got in, panting and sweating and looking like a lost little kid.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I hissed, narrowing my eyes at him for what felt like the thousandth time.
"I wanna go along wherever you're going" He said, waving his hand around and still trying to catch his breath.
"How did you even get here so fast" I asked, reversing the car to get it out of the parking and out on the road.
"I followed you, but definitely broke like my whole body while jumping out of that stupid window. And even though you're wearing heels, I have no idea how you ran so fast towards here" He explained, putting his seatbelt on and hissing in pain when the belt made contact with his ribs.
I rolled my eyes and sped off towards the house.
I drove the car at the highest speed possible and took a sharp turn, which caused Jeremy to hit his head on the window so hard that I wa pretty sure that he would get a minor concussion or something.
I don't even feel bad.
"Um, Ashlynn have you ever driven a car before?" He swallowed and asked me nervously, after observing my .... well ....amazing driving skills.
Note the sarcasm.
"Not really, No" I shrugged truthfully.
His eyes widened as he yelled "PULL OVER RIGHT NOW"
"Stop yelling, I have sensitive ears. And no, I'll pull over when we reach there" I stated, really enjoying his horrified state.
He sat back in his seat, holding the safety handle so harshly as if his life depended on it.
Well it most likely did. I really need to get car driving lessons.
"Where are we even going?" He muttered after a few minutes.
"Your House" I kept the answer short and simple, leaving a million questions inside his head.
"What! Why?" He yelled again.
"Because it's gonna get attacked" I said casually, as if it was no biggie.
"WHAT? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?"
Did he really not listen to the part where I said I had sensitive ears?
"Gut feeling. Also I'm a genius, so yeah" I shrugged, shooting him an annoyed glance.
"So you're telling me that we left everyone back there with those stupid attackers with the big guns just because you had a GUT FEELING?" He scoffed.
"Are you doubting me right now?" I spoke, giving him a threatening look.
He gave me a look which said 'you can't be serious' but I chose to ignore it and just raised an eyebrow.
"Besides, no one asked for you to come. If anything, you're probably just gonna be in my way" I sighed, rolling my eyes again.
Dumbass.
We reached the Dobrev mansion and jumped out of the car, only too see all the guards already passed out or dead.
We took out the guns and weapons which were hidden all over the car. I told him to make sure he doesn't make a sound and just follows my lead.
I headed in, keeping my gun in front of me and my eyes roaming everywhere, to find any smallest movement.
I was fully on high alert, while Jeremy looked like he was about to cry.
How these people run a Mafia, I will never understand.
After walking through the lobby, we found a bunch of guards in the living room. All of them were wearing the same robber masks.
I told Jeremy to stay in his place as I snuck upto them. There were about five men so it was quite easy to take them all out. I kicked one of them in the chest, which sent him crashing towards the ground as I elbowed the one who was trying to attack me from behind.
Both of them passed out on the ground as I shot the other three before they could even move or comprehend what was happening.
I continued walking towards my room as Jeremy ran and caught up with me. If he didn't look traumatised before, he definitely did now.
"Why are we going to your room?" He whispered when he finally understood where I was headed to.
"We are not going anywhere. I'm going to my room and you're gonna stand outside on guard duty."
"What- no- NO" he whisper-yelled.
"Well there's no way I'm letting you inside my room. Might as well just be a little helpful while you're here. Even though I highly doubt you'll even be able to stand up straight in front of them" I rolled my eyes as I reloaded my gun and shot a few guards who were blocking the staircase.
When we finally reached my room, I saw about a dozen guards standing in front of the open door. Another dozen were in the room, looking through the cupboards and drawers.
I rolled my eyes as I took off the security of my gun and pointed it towards one of the head guards who was standing in front of my room. Jeremy was standing right behind me as all the other guards circled around us, their guns pointed straight at us.
"You guys really should learn a thing or two about privacy" I sighed, shaking my head in disapproval.
They said nothing and just cocked their guns, pointing them all directly towards the both of us.
"Rude." I shrugged casually as if this was not at all bothering me.
It wasn't really. I'm way past the point where being surrounded by a bunch of guns scares me.
"Ashlynn I really think you should stop talking. We are surrounded" Jeremy whispered as his mouth trembled and his hands shook. He looked as if he was shitting himself.
"Excellent. We can start attacking from any direction" I explained, a small smirk making its way onto my face.
"Now when I say to start shooting, do it" I whispered.
"Wha-"
"Start shooting" I ordered before even giving him a chance to disagree or panic.
I rapidly shot about four guys before Jeremy finally got his shit together and started firing as well.
One of them lunged towards him while I took the others down.
The guards who were inside had now also come out to see what the commotion was all about.
I was running out of ammo so decided to use my dagger and knives. I stabbed about half of them while pinning the others down with throwing knives.
Anyone who tried to sneak upto me didn't only end up dead, but with an ugly broken face too.
When will these people even learn.
After everyone was down, I looked behind to see Jeremy still fighting with that one guy who attacked him back when we were surrounded.
You've gotta be kidding me right now.
The guard looked new and inexperienced which is why Jeremy wasn't dead on the floor right now.
While he was busy, I snuck into my room and grabbed my stuff from under the tile, yes I have a secret compartment in the flooring, and transferred everything into a backpack.
As I got out of my room and shut the door behind me, I saw Jeremy take one last swing towards the guy before he passed out on the ground.
Jeremy threw his hands up in glee, happy and proud that he took out the one guard but his eyes widened when he saw all the bodies passed out on the floor around him. Courtesy of yours truly.
I raised a bored eyebrow and sighed, making my way downstairs as he followed me, bombering me with questions as to what I'm doing and practically jumping up and down while blabbering over the one guy he took down.
Can I pull his toung out yet?
As I reached the front door, I saw a black car with tinted windows waiting outside the mansion. Jeremy gave it a suspicious look as I walked towards it and opened the back door. Shoving the backback into the back seat, I gave the driver a curt nod as he bowed his head in respect, sending a sharp and calculating look towards Jeremy, who was standing behind me, but clearly in view..
I texted Ace prior leaving the ball to send a car to collect all the stuff to bring it back securely to the safehouse. There were a bunch of other guard cars surrounded all over the building but as our trusted driver took off, they all followed up behind him, one after the other as a security measure.
".........Where are we going now?" Jeremy asked slowly, as we watched all the black cars drive off in perfect sync and I walked towards my bike to get back to the ball.
"To the ball ofcourse, I'd never miss a shooting like that."
Soooooooooooo............ another crappy chapter? Check.
I know I know I haven't updated in AGES, but hey! you can blame that on high school. I know that really isn't an excuse, but school has really been too much recently and the little time I do have, I have absolutely no inspiration to write anything. I think everybody has that phase, so I'll try to get better.
Besides, I've been kinda sick throughout the past month like on and off you know. It's not exactly fun but you gotta do what you gotta do right.
Then There's also a lot of stuff been happening like at my house and shit but whatever I'm not gonna get into that. Instead, I have some newssss.
So, I've been planning to write a new book once I complete this one because I'm not gonna be one of the authors who abandon their books to write something else.
Let me know If you guys will be interested in that. It'll be more exciting, fun and even more badass than this one. Or well, atleast I'll try to make it be lol. And unlike this one, it'll have a love interest so please let me know what you prefer! Because as much as I'd like to write the story, I'd love to have your say in it so you can enjoy reading it as much as I will while writing it. Don't get me wrong, there will be cliffhangers and plot twists and everything, but still I'd love for you to participate.
But I will not be uploading that book anytime soon because I wanna write some chapters prior to updating it because I don't wanna leave it hanging like this one.
Remember when I used to update this book like literally everyday? Yeah, good old days.
As for the next update, I'm not even gonna pretend that I know when that will be lol. I'll try my best to write the next one as soon as I can, but no promises really, because clearly I can't keep them lol.
Anyways, if you've come this far, You have no idea how much that means to me and I honestly love you so much and hope that you have a wonderful day/night.
