Karasuna POV

*has a violent fit of coughs*

"Karasuna-san!" my assistant exclaimed worriedly, and handed me my medicine.

"I don't have much time left. This body is too frail." I rasped. "I need that rejuvinating drug."

"I'm afraid that's impossible. The creators of the drug have all but perished, and Sherry betrayed us." my assistant pointed out. "Apotoxin is far from perfected."

"Then we must recruit other scientists at all costs to continue the development of Apotoxin. Order Rum to send out a talent search." I instructed.

"Right away, sir." my assistant replied.

"In the meantime, please show me the list of Apotoxin victims." I told my assistant, who handed me a file. "Shinichi Kudo and Mary Sera are marked deceased, but their bodies have not been identified yet?"

"No, not yet sir." my assistant replied. Unbeknownst to Karasuna, Vermouth marked both of them deceased.

"There's one more place I would like to investigate." I told my assistant to take me to Sherry's previous cell.

"It's quite puzzling how she escaped." my assistant said. "The door was locked, and only a child could squeeze through the vent on the floor."

A child's body.... I have my theories but I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes.

Kaiya POV

(the next day at school)

"Eh? It was Shinichi who solved the case?" Ran exclaimed.

"Yeah, he did." I affirmed.

"According to Detective Takagi, Conan-kun phoned him and he deduced the case immediately." Sonoko elaborated.

"But still, what did that person mean by 'we'll see each other soon'" before we left?" Ran asked.

"Alright, everyone be seated." our Sensei entered the room. "I would like to introduce someone who will be joining our class, Sera-san!" Sera entered wearing the standard Teitan High blazer and skirt.

"I'm Masumi Sera. Nice to meet you all." Sera bowed.

"Sera-san is a girl?!" Sonoko and Ran exclaimed in disbelief.

"What a coincidence we are all going to the same school!" Sera plopped her bag on the desk next to mine and gave a toothy grin.

"Yup!" I gave her a close eyed smile. A total coincidence for sure.

The other students began to ask Masumi about her hobbies, and she introduced herself as a Jeet Kune Do user and a female detective.

(after school)

"Ne Kaiya-chan you like biochemistry?" Masumi peeked into the organic chemistry book I was holding in the science section of the library. "Oh isn't that the science competition flyer the teacher handed out today?" she pointed to the paper next to me.

"Yeah, I want to participate in the competition! I wonder who it's hosted by though." I studied the flyer.

"What type of drug design are you working on?" Masumi suddenly became very interested in my work. Phew my other notes on Apotoxin were in my backpack. Haibara wanted me to do some research for her since she couldn't access the high school library.

"I'm not quite sure yet, but I'm just reading about proteins." I answered. "I do have to come up with an idea soon though, because for whatever reason, there is only a short timespan before the project entries are due."

"What about a drug that de ages people! I bet the girl that lives in Professor Agasa's house would know." Masumi replied with a toothy grin.

"Hehe she's still in grade school so I doubt so." I said nervously. "Anyways I'll see you later Masumi-chan. I have to go check these books out." I walked to the counter.

"Wait, Kaiya-chan!" she chased after me after I placed the books in my backpack. "Why don't I give you a lift back home on my motorcycle?"

"It's alright, my house is walking distance." I reassured her.

"It's no trouble at all! Besides, once you see my motorcycle, you won't be able to resist riding it." she beamed.

I gasped in awe at her motorcycle as we entered the parking lot. "You've got to teach me how to ride it someday."



"Come on, hop on." Masumi grinned and handed me a spare helmet. "Just tell me the directions to your house." I felt the wind blow through my hair as we rode the motorcyle.

When we arrived there, Masumi pointed to the house sign, "This is your house? It says Kudo here."

Oops, Conan told me not to bring her to his house..."Yeah the Kudos are family friends and they let me stay here for a while since my parents are overseas." I explained. "Thanks for the ride, Masumi!" I waved goodbye and went inside.

"I'm home!" I called.

"It seems that girl is good friends with you." Shuichi observed.

"Yeah her name is Masumi and she's new to Teitan High School. She's like a female version of you." I laughed. "She loves murder mysteries and is proficient at Jeet Kune Do."

"She's really grown up." Shuichi said to himself with a slight smile. "Despite the circumstances, I'm glad my sister is back in Japan." he told me.

"You guys are siblings? I see the resemblance now." I feigned surprise. "It seems that she knows about Apotoxin though...she was asking me about the drug when I was researching for my science fair project."

"I want to keep her out of it as much as possible." he said.

"I see. I'll do my best to keep her safe as well." I said in understanding.

Masumi POV

As I turned on my motorcycle, I saw the curtains of the Kudo house move slightly. I thought Kaiya was the only one living in that house?

Kaiya POV

"Say, Yukiko-san, do you know how to ride a motorcyle?" I asked her during dinner.

"Of course I do!" she said proudly. "I have my own motorcycle in the garage after all. I'll teach you how to ride it."

"Really?!" I gasped. "Yesss!" I pumped my fists happily.

"Just be careful Kaiya... Yukiko can be quite a reckless driver." Yusaku said.

"What did you say, Yusaku?" Yukiko turned to him. "I'll have you know that I'm an excellent driver!"

"We have different standards of good driving." Yusaku shrugged.

Shuichi and I just sweatdropped at them.

"Here's the books you wanted, Ai-chan!" I took out the materials from my book bag.

"They will be quite helpful." Haibara nodded thanks.

"Wait... what is this?" I motioned to her laptop screen. "Is that your previous data on the Apotoxin drug? I thought Kudo-kun said you destroyed the data last time you encountered Pisco."

"I couldn't bring myself to destroy the work I spent years on." she admitted. "But keep it a secret from Kudo-kun. If he keeps pursuing the Organization so recklessly, he'll put everyone around him in danger." she warned.

I'm afraid the everyone has already encountered the Organization in one way or the other...

(a week later)

"Ruff Ruff!" a fluffy white dog suddenly jumped on me as I walked on the streets.

I pet the dog. "Hi there! Did you get lost?" I saw that it had a collar so it must belong to someone. "Well it's going to rain soon. Do you know how to go home?" I asked the dog. It wagged its tail and started running off. I chased after it to an apartment complex. "Is this your home?" we stopped in front of an apartment. The dog barked in affirmation.

"Haro! There you are! Furuya-san is going to be so angry if he found out that I lost you." a man with glasses ran up to us. He paused when he saw me. "Who are you?"

"I'm Kaiya. I was on my way home when this dog jumped on me." I motioned to Haro.

"Kazami, what was that commotion?" Amuro came up the stairs. "Kaiya-chan?" he asked when he saw me with Haro.

"Amuro-san, I didn't know you had a pet!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, I found Haro on the streets so I decided to give him a home." he replied.

"Haro is so cute!" I pet Haro.

"He seems to like you." Amuro observed. "In this case, would you mind watching him for me once in a while?"

"Well.... I'm more of a cat person... but since Haro is such a good boy I don't mind looking after him sometimes." I replied.

"Amuro-san, I can't button up Haro's poncho. I think he needs some new clothes." I told Amuro.

"It can't be! I got it just a week ago." Amuro said. He looked at Haro. "Could it be that Haro gained more weight?"

"We could try putting him on a diet maybe?" I suggested.

"I tracked all his meals but it seems like he gained even more weight." Amuro looked at his laptop screen in confusion.

"I'm sure Kazami-san and I followed all your instructions carefully and walked Haro everyday." I mused. "Haro... is there something you want to tell us?" I narrowed my eyes at Haro.

"Ruff ruff." Haro just wagged his tail innocently at us.

"I guess there's one more thing we can do." Amuro suggested.

"He's eating his meals properly." Kazami observed. We put up cameras around Amuro's apartment.

"And neither you nor Kaiya-san fed him anything extra." Amuro finished.

"Everything seems normal to me." I said as we watched the video. "Wait look, Haro is pushing a chair in the direction of the fridge!" I exclaimed.

"There's no way he can open it right, Fury- Amuro-san?" Kazami asked. Amuro shook his head.

"He opened it?!" We all exclaimed as Haro jumped onto the top of the fridge and opened the freezer.

Amuro facepalmed. "That was the ice-cream Azuza-san gave me. I should have known Haro would eat it."

"At least it wasn't chocolate-flavored." I sighed in relief.

"Oh Haro! You look so healthy again!" I bent down and pet him when I saw Amuro walking Haro.

"I had to seal up the fridge to prevent this from happening again." Amuro explained. "From now on I guess I have to be mindful of what's in the fridge." he sighed.

"He sure is a lot of trouble!" I laughed. I took my phone out of my pocket when I heard it ring and stepped away to take the call. "Ah yes, I'm on my way home Yukiko-san. Subaru-san said he will return later though."

Amuro POV

Subaru-san? He's yet another mysterious person who suddenly appeared. He resembles that man.... Shuichi Akai.
