Conan POV

"Uncle, is it just me or does Ran-neechan seem more happy than usual?" I asked Kogoro. Ran was humming and fixing her hair before she left the agency.

"Let's go brat." Kogoro said as Ran left.

I glanced at Kogoro in surprise. It was one of those rare occasions when we both thought alike since I planned to follow Ran as well.

"We're following Ran. Perhaps that detective kid Shinichi is seducing her." Kogoro explained.

How dare that Shinichi seduce Ran! Wait no that's no possible, I'm Shinichi! Then what's making Ran so happy?

Kaiya POV

(at a restaurant)

"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Ran apologized, running towards our table.

"Oh no worries, we just arrived at the restaurant ourselves." Sonoko reassured her.

"I'm so excited for the trip to Kyoto!" I squealed. I've never been to Kyoto before.

"I know right!" Ran smiled. "Luckily we bought these traveling pamphlets from the bookstore."

"We should make a list of places to visit!" Masumi suggested.

"Look, the Fushimi Inari Shrine... the Kiyomizu-dera Temple... Kinkakuju Temple... I want to visit all of those!" I exclaimed as I flipped through the pamphlets.

"We can't forget to visit the sweet shops!" Sonoko reminded us.

"Of course!" we all enthusiatically nodded in agreement.

"Oh maybe we'll meet Okita-kun again." Ran said.

"He's so talented in Kendo!" I gushed (hey don't blame me for fangirling... kendo is cool). "You should have seen him spar against Heiji last time when we went to watch Heiji's tournament." That was quite fun, except that there was another murder again... *sigh*

"And maybe we might run into Shinichi-kun by coincidence!" Sonoko said.

"I feel bad about leaving Conan-kun at home with dad though." Ran admitted.

"Ah! Isn't that him, the four-eyed brat?" Sonoko jumped up from her seat and pointed to the counter seats behind us. We turned around to see Kogoro and Conan.

"Did you guys follow us here?" I crossed my arms.

They rubbed their heads sheepishly.

Afterwards, there was another murder and Masumi cracked the case with ease.

************

"What is it, Kudo-kun? You look like you have something you want ask me." I said to Conan.

"Well uh... I really want to go on the school trip." Conan replied.

"You need the antidotes right?" I guessed. "For those, you have to ask Ai-chan."

"She wouldn't give me it when I asked... she doesn't trust me after what happened in London." Conan told me.

"Hmm maybe you could try to get Ai-chan into a good mood, and she would be more willing to give you the antidotes." I suggested.

"The only thing that gets her in a good mood is Fusae brand items though." Conan complained.

"Use your head buddy." I laughed at him. "There's a Tokyo Sprits game right? She'll definitely be a good mood after that!"

Or so we thought...

************

(in the Kudo mansion)

"Akai-san, is something the matter?" I asked him when I saw him observing outside through the curtain.

"There's a familar car outside, and the owner has been observing the house for quite a while." Shuichi replied.

"Oh, it's Amuro-san!" I peeked outside to see a white Mazda RX-7, belonging to none other than Tooru Amuro.

"He's probably investigating the place more after the events at Raiha pass." Shuichi deduced.

We then heard the doorbell ring so Shuichi put on his Subaru disguise. I opened the door to find the Detective boys.

"Ah Subaru-san, Kaiya-neechan we were wondering you could drive us to the beach." They explained that Haibara lost her Higo strap and it was likely at the beach.

"I have some errands to run, but perhaps someone else can give you a ride." Subaru led the kids to Amuro's car, effectively diverting Amuro's attention from the house.

************

"What happened to her?" Subaru asked as we entered Agasa's house. We saw Haibara in a state of shock.

"She lost her Higo cellphone strap." Agasa told us.

"That would explain it. She's a huge fan of Higo." I carried Haibara to the sofa. *gently shakes her* "Ai-chan are you alright." *no response*

"Well I have no doubt it will be found. Afterall two of Japan's brightest minds are on the task." Subaru said. I nodded in agreement.

Eventually Conan (with the help of Amuro) found the Higo strap, and Haibara gave him an antidote since she was in a good mood.

************

"I can carry the extra antidotes, but there's no way I can bring you back to Tokyo without suspicion if you revert back to Conan during the trip." I explained.

"Let's talk to Heiji then. Maybe he can come to Kyoto as well." Conan suggested.

"Kudo, I know we're buddies, but I'm telling you I have school that day." I heard Heiji complain to Conan over the phone. "It would be difficult for me to come to Kyoto."

"Kudo-kun let me speak with Heiji." I took the phone from Conan.

"Hey Kaiya, what's up?" Heiji asked. "Don't tell me you also want me to come to Kyoto too?"

"Come on Heiji." I tried to convince him.

"You both are so insistent." Heiji sighed.

"Agh Heiji you dummy, don't make me say it outloud. I can't help Kudo-kun if he reverts back to Conan because umm... uh...I can't enter the boy's dorms... it would be awkward." I managed to explain.

"U-uh yeah umm o-okay point taken." Heiji finally realized. I facepalmed at his level of intellect when it comes to things like this.

***********

"That was painful..." Shinichi sulked as he came out of the restroom in his adult form. "Eh... Kaiya?" he asked in surprise when he saw me peering closely at him.

"I've heard rumors that Kaito Kid looks like you." I explained. "I'm trying to picture you but with Kid's hair."

"Oi don't tell me you're a Kaito Kid fan." Shinichi complained.

"Why not?" I shrugged. "He's quite cool! And he did save from that exploding train, so I owe him one. You must take me to one of his heists!"

"You both should get going or you're going to be late." Haibara told us. "And Kaiya make sure Kudo-kun doesn't do anything stupid this time."

"Meh knowing Kudo-kun, he probably will." I laughed at Shinichi's annoyed expression. "Alright, to Kyoto we go!" I pumped my fists enthusiatically. "Ran will be so excited to see you."

***********

"Shinichi, I missed you!" Ran hugged Shinichi when she saw him.

"Oh my goodness, Kiyomizu-dera temple is so pretty!" I squealed. The temple had a platform overlooking beautiful scenery.

"And we get to spend a week here!" Ran agreed.

"Have you responded to Shinichi's confession in London yet?" Sonoko asked Ran.

"N-no not yet." Ran blushed.

"Then you need to do it, Ran! You should kiss him at the Kiyomizu butai!" Sonoko chirped.

"Are you really Shinichi Kudo?" Masumi pinched Shinichi's cheeks to verify he wasn't wearing a mask. "Do you remember me?"

"Y-yeah." Shinichi said. "I remember we met on the beach, 10 years ago."

"Has it really been that long though?" Masumi asked doubtfully.

We toured the city and enjoyed some fruit sandwiches, and we also met some famous celebrities who were filming a Tengu movie in Kyoto. However, due to Shinchi's murder magnet, there was another case involving Tengus at the dorms and in the city.

Masumi, Shinichi, Heiji, and I then worked together to crack the codes in the case.

********

(in Kyoto)

"Heiji, your phone is ringing." I tapped his shoulder.

"Oh no, it's Kazuha!" he looked at his phone with a scared expression.

"Is something the matter?" I asked in confusion.

Heiji cleared his throat and answered the phone. "Hey Kazuha -"

"HEIJI!! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Kazuha shouted loudly over the phone, causing Heiji to flinch.

"I told you I have a cold so I'm missing school today." Heiji pretended to cough.

"You're lying ya know, Heiji." Kazuha said annoyed. "I see you on the TV in Kyoto."

"What?!" we all turned around to see a TV new anchor broadcasting the incident with the Tengus.

"U-uh I'm in Kyoto right now to get some medication." Heiji tried to come up with a plausible excuse to tell Kazuha.

"Oh no, Kudo-kun, you can't be seen right now!" I panicked and pushed him towards the inside of the crowd. Heiji placed his cap over Shinichi.

*Back in Kiyomizu-dera temple*

"Yeah, Ai-chan, everything seems fine so far, his antidote hasn't worn off yet." I facetimed her.

"Record the window of effectiveness of the antidote." Haibara instructed. "Kaiya?" she called when I started to space off.

"S-Shinichi..." I stared ahead of me when I saw Ran kissing Shinichi in front of Kiyomizu-dera temple. Haibara gasped as she saw it through the background too. Aww I'm so happy for them, they're so cute together!

However, the moment was short-lived as Shinichi suddenly gripped his chest in pain. "S-sorry Ran, I'll see you later." he apologized and ran towards the building in the temple.

"Are you alright?" I asked in concern.

"I-I'll be fine, but d-do you have another antidote?" he asked me though clenched teeth.

"Kudo-kun, you can't take an antidote until 8 hours later!" I reprimanded him.

Shinichi shrunk back to Conan and Heiji took him back to Tokyo.

*********

Masumi POV

"Yeah, mom, there seems to be a medicine that can restore your body." I answered her call.

"Then we'll do whatever it takes to find the inventor of this antidote." mom replied.

I glanced over at Kaiya talking to Ran. Perhaps Kaiya knows who invented the antidote.

Kaiya POV

*next day*

"There's a crowd of reporters outside the school!" Ran gasped as we looked through the window.

Oh no, Shinichi must have gotten spotted on the news!

"Matsuki-san" the principal suddenly entered our classroom and called me. "The reporters seem to be looking for you." "M-me?" I turned in surprise but followed him to the entrance of our school.

**********

"Matsuki-san how do you know Shinichi Kudo?" a reporter thrust a microphone towards me.

"When was the last time you saw him?" another pressed.

"U-umm I don't know what you are talking about." I tried to answer. "I really don't know where Kudo-kun is."

"But he was clearly standing next to you in Kyoto!" a reporter insisted.

I had to think of something on the spot.

"You must have seen his doppelganger!" I lied. "He's a kendo player." I showed them a picture of Okita, since he happened to look a lot like Shinichi. Satisfied with my answer, the reporters finally left. I sighed in relief.

***********

"Kudo-kun, you should be more careful, mister!" I scolded Conan when we returned to Agasa's house.

He wore an embarrassed expression,"Yeah Haibara gave me an earful already. But it worked out in the end since my parents convinced the girl who took a picture of me to keep it out of the spotlight."

"You're lucky your parents care about you so much." I smiled softly. Yusaku and Yukiko were really good people.

"Still, I can't believe someone would claim to be the #1 Kudo fan." Conan said, clearly annoyed.

"Well, I already know who's your real #1 fan." I shrugged nonchalantly.

"My real #1 fan?" Conan looked at me in confusion.

"Why, it's Ran of course!" I grinned and Haibara stifled a laugh at my declaration.

"Oi Kaiya, cut it out!" he blushed.

Kuroda POV

"Shinichi Kudo and Kaiya Matsuki... interesting...." I glanced my phone screen.
