Kaiya POV

"I need you to draw attention to the wine glasses." Conan whispered. I gave Conan a look of confusion but decided to trust him.

"Oh no!" I exclaimed dramatically, accidentally spilling some of the wine from the bottle to draw attention to the table.

"Are you alright?" Saguru turned to me.

"Y-Yes, at least none of the glasses spilled." I replied. He suddenly paused at the table when he got to eye level of the drinks. After a moment of thought, he smirked.

"Did you figure it out, Saguru?" I blinked.

"As I suspected, this is clearly a murder, not a suicide." Saguru announced.

"But forensics said-" Takagi began.

"Eh?! Most of these glasses are empty except these two." Conan said childishly.

"Look at the level of those two glasses on the table." Saguru explained.

"They're the same level!" Sato noticed.

"He's right." Takagi agreed.

"It would be so easy to mix the glasses up, wouldn't it Kaiya-neechan?" Conan asked me.

"O-Oh that's right! If one of the glasses belongs to the victim, the culprit could have easily switched glasses after putting poison in their own. " I explained following Conan's logic.

"Why should we believe these kids?" Mr. Lopez questioned.

"I'm on the phone with Yusaku-san, and he said the same thing." I pointed to my phone.

"You mean Yusaku Kudo is also solving this case just from a phone call?!" Takagi asked, just asked shocked as the other guests.

I made eye contact with Saguru. "I know they've already cracked this case. You can trust them." I smiled.

"They do have a point through. The victim wouldn't have noticed if the liquid level was about the same." Sato agreed.

"How was culprit able to do the switch without anyone noticing though?" Takagi wondered.

"By approaching Mr. Richmond under the pretense of sharing a smoke." Saguru deduced. "Isn't that right Mrs. Miller?" he announced.

"Earlier, you mentioned you weren't a smoker, but you did smoke today right?" I pointed out.

"How dare you accuse me!" she retorted.

"I was just-" I began, before Mrs. Richmond moved in front of me slightly. It was as if... she was protecting me?

"Dear, please calm down." Mr. Miller told his wife.

"T-That doesn't prove anything." Mrs. Miller insisted.

"Forensics will be back with the fingerprint analysis of the cups soon, if you still insist." Sato said.

"I-I couldn't bear that thought that Mr. Richmond was given a promotion instead of my husband." Mrs. Miller admitted tearfully.

"You should go clean the stain on your sleeves in the restoom." Saguru told me, offering me his jacket to cover up.

"I feel bad for staining such a nice dress." I worried. Afterall, the Kudos gave it to me...

"Don't worry, it will wash off." he reassured me.

"Oof!" I exclaimed, accidentally bumped into someone while running to the restroom. I looking up in surprise to see one of the men with the crow mask, the tall lanky one.

"Excuse my clumsiness, bumping into you again." I apologized.

The man nodded, indicated it was alright before checking his watch again, causing my eyes to narrow. It seems like he was waiting for someone.

Not a moment later, the older man with the crow mask exited the restroom.

"Sir, let's make our departure for tonight." the younger man said. "Is everything alright sir, it's been quite a long time since you came out."

The older man replied indistinctly, but wore a slightly confused expression.

"Sir, it's no time for jokes it's quite late already." I heard the younger man state.

*****************

Both of them admittedly scared me for some reason, but I couldn't just run away when he needed medical attention.

"Please wait, I think something's not right with your friend." I told the younger man urgently.

"Can you follow my finger with your eyes?" I asked the older man. He seemed to have a previously injured right eye from the looks of it, but his uninjured left eye was unfocused.

"We need to call an ambulance, I believe your friend may have had a stroke." I pulled out my phone.

"I'm sorry, I can't allow you to do that." he stopped me.

"But he needs medical care." I insisted. "Based on what you said, he has amnesia and his gaze is unfocused, all signs of a partial stroke. There's only a 3 hour window to administer treatment. You mentioned that he was gone for a long time right? Assuming the stroke happened just now in the restroom-"

"I trust your word. Are you perhaps training to be a doctor miss?" the younger man interrupted.

"No, it was just a random fact I heard from my friend who knows all sorts of things." I explained, unsure how how to reply. Haibara certainly had a lot of medical knowledge that she often shared with me, but for obvious reasons I wanted to avoid mentioning her.

"My boss prefers the utmost privacy, but I will have him checked out with a private physician immediately." the younger man replied with an air of seriousness.

"Sir-" I began before another voice addressed me.

"Ah Kaiya-chan would you like some help getting the stain off?" Mrs. Richmond appeared.

"Oh umm that would be lovely." I replied. But I as turned around, the two men were nowhere to be seen. If only I weren't distracted...

"I have this stain remover handy" Mrs. Richmond pulled out a small pen-like object.

"It seems to be working really well!" I exclaimed happily.

Kaiya POV

"Were you able to get the stain off?" Saguru asked as I returned to the table.

"Most of it because Mrs. Richmond helped me." I replied.

"I am impressed though, Yusaku-san had the same deductions just from listening into a phone call." Saguru turned to Yusaku.

"My Yusaku is always impressive." Yukiko beamed.

"You're not bad yourself." Yusaku told Saguru.

"I honored. That's the highest compliment I can get from a renowed detective and mystery writer such as yourself." Saguru told Yusaku.

"There's no need to be so formal." I laughed at Saguru. "Just ask him for an autograph already."

"I'll bring my books to get them signed sometime." Saguru agreed happily. "If you'll excuse me, I need to discuss matters with the police." Saguru explained, taking his leave.

"Shall we head home now?" Yusaku asked me. Agasa had already left with the detective boys home.

"Eh? Where's Conan?" I looked around after saying bye to Saguru.

Kaiya POV

"Conan there you are!" I exclaimed as I saw him head towards the parking lot.

"Mr. Cassel intends to keep this incident hidden from the news so he wants Mrs. Richmond to sign this agreement." Conan said. "I saw her enter the parking lot."

"Mrs. Richmond!" we called as we saw her walking towards a parking spot. "Sorry to trouble you again, but Mr. Cassel would like you to sign this apparently." I handed her the paper from Conan.

"Kaiya-chan get away from her!" a car pulled up and Jodie ran out of it.

"Jodie-sensei what do you mean?" I blinked. "If this is about the case, Mrs. Richmond wasn't the culprit."

"I guess there's no point in hiding it anymore." Mrs. Richmond smirked and removed her disguise to reveal Vermouth.

"If you're here then what did you do with the real Richmond couple?!" I turned to Vermouth.

"The FBI got a tip that the Richmonds were on vacation, but somehow they accepted the invite to the party so we figured something suspicous was happening." Jodie explained.

"That's true they're on vacation, so it was easy to steal the invitation from their mail." Vermouth replied.

"Which other members were with you?" Conan asked. " The victim was one of the members of the organization right?"

"It was unfortunate that he met his demise. We couldn't complete our mission afterall." she shrugged.

"The mission...?" I wondered.

"The FBI will take you into custody this time Vermouth." Jodie declared.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that." Vermouth grabbed me in a chokehold, pointing a pistol at me. "I would advise you not to come closer."

"Release her at once!" Jodie pulled out her own pistol.

"Kaiya!" Conan trained his tranquilizer dart at Vermouth.

"Wait! Don't shoot!" I told Jodie. "It's safer to let Vermouth leave or the Organization will get involved further and endanger others. The case has been solved anyways, and no one will know about the Organization if it is hidden from the news."

"Still I can't forgive her, she murdered my father" Jodie exclaimed, her voice wavering.

"We have you cornered." Camel appeared from behind. "Let Kaiya go" he ordered.

"Camel-san, it's alright, put your weapon down." I tried to diffuse the situation.

"Hmph" was all Vermouth replied. In a swift motion, she thrust me towards Jodie and hopped on her motorcyle.

"You're not hurt are you Kaiya-chan?" Jodie and Camel worried, checking me for injuries.

"Yes I'm alright, Vermouth wouldn't have hurt me anyways." I reassured them.

"I won't let her get away next time" Jodie grit her teeth.

"There's something sticking out of your jacket pocket." Camel pointed out to me.

I reached into my pocket to find a note hastily written in code. Did Vermouth slip this in my pocket?

Wakita POV

I felt much better after being put on medication. It turns out I really did have a partial stroke, and I was treated in time so it was nothing too serious. That girl Kaiya Matsuki... she has become more and more interesting...

Kaiya POV

(at the study)

"We brought coffee." Yukiko and I entered the study where Yusaku and Shuichi were working.

"Seems like you both have been busy." I looked at the numbers on the screen and numerous scratch papers.

"We've compared the code to the encryptions that the Organization has used before but no match." Yusaku explained.

"Perhaps it's a code that Vermouth herself designed." Shuichi suggested. "Did Vermouth mention anything out of the ordinary?" he asked me.

"Nothing in particular, but only other time I spoke with her was when she help me remove the stain on my dress. I checked the mirrors and was surprised to see that most of the stain came off." I recalled.

Shuichi and Yusaku exchanged glances. "Did you say mirror?"

I nodded, confused.

"If you reversed the code partially - " Shuichi realized.

"and shifted the alphabet, you get the final message." Yusaku continued. It read "Absinthe - target Cassel."

If that was the case...Vermouth's acting was truly exceptional...to be able to pretend to be a bereaved widow a moment's notice...

"Now if only we knew more about the people you saw at the event." Shuichi sugggested.

"I've been working on some sketches!" I beamed, showing them my sketchbook.

**********************

Shuichi POV

Yukiko tucked Kaiya into bed as she fell asleep working on the sketches, and reentered the study. "Kaiya's already asleep, don't stay up too both of you."

"Unfortunately it might a be longer night dear." Yusaku replied. "We're combing through the security cameras at the venue for the Richmonds."

"But more importantly, the two men that Kaiya described seemed to evade the cameras skillfully so there's not much of them." I explained.

"Perhaps this might help?" Yukiko showed us Kaiya's sketchbook. As always, her pictures were detailed. "We could compare them to the images from survelliance."

"I'll try enchancing the zoomed in images." I agreed. "Chances are they will be blurry, but it might provide us with some hints."

Yukiko nodded. "Even with disguises, people tend to wear valuable things to them."

"Look at this ring on the man's hand. The symbol looks familar doesn't it?" Yusaku clicked on a photo. A faint letter K could be seen.
