Kaiya POV
I felt a slight drizzle and realized that it started to rain as I walked along the street.
"Kaiya! Rena Mizunashi is one of them." Conan ran up to me with his cellphone in his hand. He must have heard Rena dial the seven children's song.
"I know Kudo-kun. We have to follow her." I said urgently and we got into Professor Agasa's beetle. Haibara and Conan started talking about Rena.
"That sure was lucky to grab them by the tail." the Professor commented.
"No it's the opposite of that. It's the worst luck." Conan corrected. "If they find the tracker and the wiretap mic it's natural to think that someone set them up."
"The first person they would suspect is Kogoro-san." I continued.
"Hey-hey you don't mean?" Agasa asked alarmed.
"There's no way to deny that Kogoro might have listened to their converstion." Conan said.
"And when that happens they will silence him and everyone else around him if needed." Haibara finished with a grim expression.
"But what I don't understand is why she would ask for Ojisan's services." Conan commented.
She wants to find her brother...
******************
Conan was listening intently to his earpiece as we followed them to the parking lot.
"Where's Eddie P.... Do you know who DJ is?" Conan asked. Haibara didn't know but she started describing the other possible Black Organization members.
"She's going to meet someone underground.... in that building's parking lot!" he pointed. "Hakase, Haibara! Wait here!" Conan ordered and we both got out of the car. Conan crashed into someone.
"That's far enough cool kid!" Jodie posed.
"Jodie-sensei! What are you doing here?" Conan said shocked.
"The FBI has her eyes on her as well. Ever since Vermouth disguised herself as Dr. Ariade, she has been visiting the hospital often." Jodie told him and they continued chatting. I looked at our surroundings. Then I saw Rena's car approaching.
"Guys hide!" I called. We all got in the car in the nick of time while Agasa pretended to fix his car. As he was driving, Jodie explained that Rena would be interviewing three first time candidates running for a seat in the House of Representatives (Eisaku Tokiwa, Junji Sendou, and Yasuteru Domon) and Conan told her that he placed a microphone and tracker on Rena's doorway and it accidentally got stuck on her shoe. Conan also told her about DJ and Eddie P and we tried to figure out what those stood for.
******************
"Are you saying that DJ stands for Jack of Diamonds?" Jodie asked.
"Yeah those guys must use trump cards to name their targets." I affirmed.
"And since diamonds mean fortune or money then that person must be the son of a wealthy politician, and if he get elected, he'll be a second generation Diet member with a legacy!" Agasa reasoned.
"No not prince or son. The jack in the cards means the courtier or the knight." Haibara said.
"But he's the only one who's rich." Agasa pointed out.
"True, diamonds mean money, but astrologically diamonds have properties of the earth. That means their target must be Domon Yasuteru. The character 'Do' expresses earth." Conan explained.
"Domon Yasueru" Jodie muttered. "a righteous man whose frequent, radical speeches against crime and terror on TV and newspaper had earned him high respect."
Haibara found the phone number to his office and handed the phone to me. "Eh? You don't know? What do you mean, was he was supposed to be at golf?" I exclaimed.
Jodie grabbed the phone from me. "Then call him and tell him not to go! Someone is after his life." she said urgently. "Wait wait!" Jodie said but the man on the receiver hung up.
************
Conan answered a phone call from Ran, making sure to use the right phone. "Eh Ran-neechan! Sorry I can't talk now we are going on a ride with the Professor."
"Ran-chan don't worry he's with me. Sorry we have to go now!" I spoke into Conan's phone and he hung up.
"Oh cool kid it's like you have a split personality." Jodie observed and Conan realized something.
"Hakase turn left on that corner and get on the highway!" he shouted.
"But if we get on the highway we will get further way from the TV station." Agasa said confused.
"Don't worry we're going to beat them to that place." Conan smirked.
"Don't tell me.." the Professor said.
"I've figure it out! The place called Eddie P is Hyde Park!" Conan exclaimed.
"But how did you get Hyde Park from Eddie P?" Jodie asked.
"I realized that when you said split personality, Eddie was short for Edward." Conan explained.
"Oh? Edward Hyde..." Haibara said.
"From the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? The protagonist had a split personality right?" I questioned. I've read that book in English class before.
"Edward is Hyde's name in the book, thus Eddie P means Hyde Park." Haibara told us.
"But I'm pretty sure there is no parking lot." The professor pointed out.
"No they said hunting grounds, and Hyde Park used to be a hunting ground for bears and boars." Conan said and listened looked at his tracker glasses again."Hakase hurry!" Conan urged.
**************
I left the car with Conan and Jodie when we arrived and we followed Rena to the park.
"Where is he?" I asked as we ran.
"90 meters left!" Conan told us. We saw a crowd of people around Rena with Domon Yasueru. Bypassers were also asking Domon for autographs.
"We have to find the snipers." Conan said and we looked around.
"They might be worried about the rain." I thought aloud.
"On the rooftop!" Conan pointed out.
"And the other one must be under the water tank." Jodie stated.
"We can't get involved carelessly. If gunfire breaks out it might hit those fans." I said.
"Hey Sensei do you have a gun with you?" Conan asked.
"I have it just in case, but..." Jodie told him.
"And a silencer? And Kaiya-neechan do you have your tasers?" Conan asked. I nodded.
*************
"Okay Jodie-sensei 3,2,1 go!" I said and we each shot a nearby fire hydrant, causing both of them to explode, making it look like rain.
"It's raining for real." Jodie commented as the people in the park began to pull out their umbrellas, obscuring the snipers' views. As Rena started walking, her shoe fell off and Conan ran to pick it up.
"She saw us!" Jodie whispered.
"Kid" Rena said as she grabbed the shoe also. "Did you follow me here?" she asked and placed her hand above Conan's shoulders, touching his cheek. I could feel the tension in air.
"No-no. It was a coincidence." Conan stuttered and froze.
Shoot I better do something. "Conan-kun I told you not run off. Sorry Rena-san." I ran to him as Jodie hid behind the trees.
"It's alright. Thank you. Really. I owe you one for picking up my shoe kid." Rena said and she went off. Conan sighed in relief.
"Hey director can I have someone substitute for me for the interview? My throat hasn't been feeling well these days." I heard her say.
***************
"You were seen by that announcer?! Did she find out that we were on her trail?" Haibara scolded Conan.
"No I think we managed to deceive her ... she didn't notice the transmitter and listening device either." I replied.
"Then why didn't you retrieve them then Conan-kun? You could have said there was something on the sole of her shoe. " Haibara crossed her arms.
"Yeah I thought about doing that but there was something strange about her..." Conan said.
"But thanks to you we can continue our pursuit. There seems to be more to their assassination plot afterall." Jodie interjected.
"Moreover is he okay? He's being trailed by the TV crew he brought along with her, right?" Haibara asked.
"The crew aren't part of this! She purposely made an excuse so that she can act independent from them." Conan told us.
"I think they are regrouping now to decide on their next move. Anyhow just leave the rest to the FBI and you guys go home in this beetle. I'll be borrowing this kid though." Jodie winked at Conan.
"But how, even without a car?" Agasa asked.
"No problem, because my boss hired a chauffeur for us." Jodie said happily as James's car pulled up next to us.
"Are you coming with?" Conan asked.
"No I'm going home. But good luck Conan-kun." I told him. Conan would be able to handle this so I didn't need to get involved. I walked a little bit before calling a taxi.
*****************
"What? They are targeting Mori-san now? I got it Conan-kun! I'm close to the detective agency anyways so I will get him out of there." I told Conan through our call. Hopefully I don't change the plot too much...
"Mister please stop here!" I told the taxi driver, and paid the fees. I got out of the car quickly and ran to the detective agency, where he was watching the horse race. "Mori-san! We have to get out of here!" I shouted.
"Kaiya-chan? What are you doing here? Don't bother me. I need to finish watching this. Let me know when Ran comes home and don't bother me. This is the 11th win starting from the first race! Do I have have the god of horse racing on my side?" he turned to the TV again. Buzz buzz. It suddenly turned off and Kogoro banged the TV. "What hey! This damn TV always breaking down on me at the most crucial moments." he cursed. My eyes widened. The Black Organization is here already but Kogoro doesn't look like he wants to go anywhere!
The phone rang as Kogoro sat down on his desk and pulled out his earbuds. "Dammit the next race could mean a perfect 12 race win for me! The odds of the last race are... I don't have time for this." He started to put the phone back on its receiver.
"Wait Mori-san could you pass me the phone then?" he handed to me and continued listening to the radio. "Conan-kun hurry they're here."
I pulled my hood over to hid my face and went to the window and saw black silhouettes across the agency. I closed most of the blinds in a hurry.
Thump! A soccer ball hit one of the windows I didn't get to yet. "Hey who did that!" He opened the window and yelled.
"I'm sorry I kicked the ball too hard. But how was the horse race? You were listening to that weren't you?" a voice called out. It was Conan.
"Why you..." he looked at Conan angrily.
Phew, crisis averted. I ran downstairs to Conan. "Nice save. It's the first time I've seen your soccer skills." I told him.
"Yeah but Ojisan is mad now hehe" he said as we looked at the broken window.

Vermouth POV
"What an obedient man." Gin smirked.
"He and the girl turned around when I blasted off his antenna." Chianti commented.
"He has something in his ear." Korn looked through the lenses of his rifle.
"He's probably listening to the wiretap he planted." Vodka said.
"Who's the girl helping him? Can I kill her?" Chianti eagerly asked.
"Just wait Chianti. Then we should do as he wishes and let him hear our voices. Don't even move. I have my back in your sight and I have a question I want to ask you before I put some ventilation in your back. It's about your relationship with Sherry. This tracker and wiretap of yours are very similar to the one's that we found on her. You can't deny it's just a coincidence." Gin drawled into the microphone.
"Damn I can't see anything since the blinds are closing. That girl must be Sherry in disguise. Can I kill her?" Chianti jumped to conclusions.
"Are you sure that's Sherry?" I asked and crossed my arms. I'm pretty sure it's not Sherry.
"Quiet Vermouth." Gin snapped at me. Hmph how rude of him. "Kogoro Mori I'll give you 10 seconds. If you feel like answering take your hand off that earphone and raise it in the air." he spoke into the microphone again.
Chianti and Korn cocked their guns.
"10, 9, 8, 7 ..." Gin started counting down. Silver bullet-kun what will you do now? Thump a ball hit the window and a boy yelled something about a horse race.
As expected of the silver bullet. "Heh it looks like he had nothing to do with it." I smiled.
"Kill him along with the girl and the kid." Gin ordered.
"Gotcha! Punishment for the suspicious huh bro?" Chianti sneered.
This is bad. I need to divert their attention away from my silver bullet. "Hey wait! He has deep ties with the police. Killing him like this without any conclusive evidence..." I started before Gin cocked his pistol at me.
"You are talking too much Vermouth. Is there something between you and that detective?" He demanded.
"My my if there was what would you do?" I retorted and pulled out my own gun. He can't do anything to me after all.
"Heh doesn't matter. Whoever set up this thing was careless and left his fingerprints behind. After we kill him, we can just search for the people around him and figure out who is behind this." he replied.
Swish. The microphone was suddenly knocked out of Gin's hands. We turned to look at the building where the bullet came from.
"Impossible that's 700 yards away!" Vodka noticed.
"From that building at 8 o'clock!" Chianti shouted.
"Gimme that!" Gin grabbed the rifle from Korn. "Akai Shuichi..." He almost dropped the gun as another bullet shattered the rifle lenses and grabbed his shoulder in pain as more shots hit him.
"Let's high tail it!" he declared and started walking away.
"But what about the detective?" Korn asked.
"Forget about them!" He growled. Ah the other silver bullet from the FBI...
In the car, I managed to shift Gin's suspicion from Kogoro to the FBI.
"Fine I'll leave him and the boy alone since he seems to be your favorite detective. But Vermouth I want you to investigate the girl. The boss seems to think she is working with the FBI and she most likely set up the trap." Interesting...

Akai POV
"Here this is Rena's schedule." the teenage girl showed the boy a table on her phone and he used his bowtie to change his voice to Rena Mizunashi's and asked for an extended holiday.
"That boy again. Who is he?" I asked Jodie.
"He's my favorite." she smiled.
"You're obsessed with him Jodie." I sighed. "And the girl? How did she get involved?" I questioned.
"Cool kid said she ran away from them." Jodie responded. Just like Akemi tried to huh...
