We set up our lights and I sat back, grabbing some snacks. One leaned down and took a chip. I laughed and pushed his hand away. "Get your own food, One." He raised a brow at me. "Rude." I held my middle finger up at him. He laughed and lay back.

It was near the night and Twelve and Ten had already fallen asleep. I felt One's hand fall into my hair gently. "Care to join me up here, Gaol?" "I don't want to now." "Mhm." There was a moment of silence before I climbed up beside him. "How are you feeling?" He asked gently. I leaned against the wall, hugging my knees to my chest. "My heads a whirl," I admitted. "The entire things last night-" he nodded his understanding. "You don't need to talk about it if you don't want to," he said softly. I paused and nodded, leaning back and looking down. He took my hand and we sat in silence for a few moments. "Are you tired?" "A bit," I said quietly. He nodded and jumped almost silently down. "Get some rest then." "Alright." I yawned and lay down. However I couldn't sleep. After a bit, I heard One mutter something. I leaned over the edge. "You can't sleep?" He asked softly. I shook my head. "No. You?" He smiled a bit. "Obviously not." He stood and climbed up beside me. We sat next to each other and, after a moment of silence, I whispered, "it's my fault they're dead." He looked at me. "I was home. And I saw it all happen. I hid." "Your parents?" He asked softly. I nodded. "And my little brother he-" I broke off, rubbing my eyes. "He survived. I hid with him. I chose his life over my parents but he still died not even a month later from a disease and the doctors didn't even know what it was." One took my hand softly. "My best friend-" "Shh," he said softly. "You don't need to go through it all again." "Please. I need to say it," I whispered. He nodded and I took a shaky breath. "My best friend and I went out. I didn't take her home because I was in a rush for a date and she told me she'd rather walk. She was mugged and killed." I shook my head, tears falling. "It's my fault One. They always die and it's always my fault." He pulled me into his arms and held me tightly. "It's not your fault. You saved your brothers, and you never knew what would happen to your friend." "But it is my fault." He shook his head, holding me tight to his chest. We sat in silence for a few minutes before he let me go. I sat up against his side, leaning on the wall. I wiped my eyes and took a deep shaky breath. "Why couldn't you sleep?" He hesitated. "I..." he ran a hand through his hair. "I can't ever sleep after a mission." I squeezed his hand tightly. He sighed softly. "It's hard. But I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I made someone else do it." I put my head on his shoulder. "Why stay," I whispered, "if you can't handle it?" "This is my home."

I realized I had drifted off at some point. We hadn't spoken more but sat in silence. When I woke up, I realized Ten and Twelve were already awake. And One was asleep, his head on mine. I blushed as Ten shot me a knowing glance. I shifted and One was immediately awake. He yawned and I straightened, rubbing my aching neck. His face grew red as Twelve piped, "good morning love birds!" "Shut up Twelve," he said stiffly, rubbing his neck as well. "Goodness that was an uncomfortable way to sleep." I didn't even meet the eyes of the others, my face hot. "Way to keep it a secret," he added in a whisper. "Hey, you should've woken me up." He smiled a bit. "You're adorable when you sleep." He leaned down and kissed my cheek then jumped down. "Look you two. You tell anyone and I'll kill you both. Got it?" "Yes sir," Twelve said quickly and Ten nodded. I pulled off One's sweater and jumped down and handed it to him. "Here's this back." He laughed. "Keep it Gaol." I grinned and slipped it back on as the truck slowed to a stop. The door opened to reveal Blade. "How was the trip?" "It was fine," Twelve said, hopping out. I followed with Ten and One, who stood behind us. The bunker doors open and Sixteen was the first one out followed by Eleven. Sixteen ran up and hugged me. "Hey! How was it?" She asked grinning. I laughed and hugged her back. "Absolutely awful and amazing at the same time." I saw Eleven embrace Ten as she buried her face in his shoulder. I heard her talking in a whisper. "I missed you so much," Seventeen said. "Three has been awful the last few days and I was the only girl around for her to torture. And with Blade not here, Two and her have been regulating things. Two I don't mind he's kinda h-" "Wait a second for me to catch my breath!" I laughed. "You two enough chit chatting get this stuff inside we've been out here long enough," One said sternly. I quickly started grabbing my stuff. Seventeen helped me carry things down with me. I came back up alone for the last load and One was waiting. He stared at me for a moment then leaned down and kissed me on the lips. I grinned and kissed him back. He wrapped an arm around my waist and I looped my arms over his shoulders. After a moment he let me go. "I-" "Get your stuff and get inside, Twenty One," he said quietly. I smiled and pecked him on the lips one more time before grabbing my stuff. I caught a huge grin and a slight blush before I went inside.
