Adam ducked and leptt to the side as Kazna raised her shadow spear. The bolt of energy shattered off the shadowed shaft of wood, and went sparking across the ground like so many fizzing fireworks. Crystals popped and fractured from the heat, and the sharkworms retreated back into their hole with the eruption of noise and light.

Celex was speaking in his original language now, the words sounding strange and malformed coming from his human tongue, but Adam understood the gist of it.

The Celzex language was very prolific in its use of insults and curses. In english there are only a few to choose from, but there were plenty of other languages that seemed to elevate cursing to an art form.

If that was the case and cursing was an art, that Celex was Picasso.

"Celex!" Adam shouted, but the man either didn't hear him or didn't much care, and lobbed another bolt of energy at the mad Drev.

She blocked this one too, sending more sparks ricocheting off the ceiling, causing the entire palace to tremble. Watching the floor, Adam certainly didn't like the way the ground moved watching as more crystals split.

"CELEX!"

The man snarled again, ignoring Adam, his mind overtaken by a rage that had long simmered in the back of his mind. Inside his head, where the telepathic link gave him access to the room, Adam was surprised to feel a wash of hatred, and anger well through him from the other man that was underwritten by a multitude of other emotions. He was angry that he had been taken when he died, He was angry for what she had done to Kelly, and

He was afraid.

That was what surprised Adam most.

Celex wasn't afraid of anything as far as he was concerned, but he was near terrified of Kazna, terrified that she would drag him back to the darkness and do to him what she had done to kelly, to pull him apart piece by piece until there was no identity left in him. All of this time and Adam thought the man was barely bothered by what happened to him, but it seemed that there were some more deep seated issues that he was unaware of despite their mental connection

He wasn't going to get Celex to stop.

In that case, he might as well join in.

Adam reached down to his side, grabbing his retractable spear from the holster and flicked it open. The long metal shaft expanded to just a few inches below his own height, and with a flick of a button it crackle with energy. Sunny had made this spear, and it was only fair that this would be the weapon he should plunge into her heart.

Kazna had risen from her throne and with a roar she charged across the floor at Celex stepping over the twitching body of the Theocrat as she did, but her charge never made it to the technicolor man as Adam came barreling in from the side shoulder checking Kazna low in the hip. She staggered and lost her place tripping over her feet.

Adam grunted in surprise.

He had forgotten just how damn big the bitch was, nearly twice his own height and built like a tree trunk. Even with his armor, and the Steel eye exoskeleton, he could feel how solid she was through all of it. She turned her golden eyes upon him, and in that moment he had the overwhelming urge to pluck them from her face.

They reminded him too much of Sunny, and this pathetic excuse for a mother didn't deserve any part of it.

She snapped her spear around in a sharp arc, but Adam caught it on the shaft of his spear. The impact was incredible, jarring through his suit and into his arms sending vibrations through his entire body. He skidded back across the floor, his feet leaving furrows in the crystal.

"Weak!" She knocked the tip of his spear to the side with one end of her spear, and attempted to impale him with the reverse spike on the other end. He dodged to the side and stabbed inward under her guard, but she was faster than he anticipated, and ducked to the side, trapping the shaft of his spear against her armored body. She could easily disarm him this way, and both of them knew it, but this wasn't just any spear

This was a spear that Sunny had made.

Adam toggled the switch, and a massive burst of electricity expanded outward, sending a visible arch of blue lightning from the spear and into her armor filling the air with a fizzing pop like the crackle of a tesla coil. Whatever kazna's armor was made out of, it clearly wasn't an insulator causing electricity to arc from metal to skin. Seeking ground through Kazna's bare feet.

She screamed and jerked away breaking contact from the jolt of electricity and staggered backwards, smoke rising from her body, this time from his intervention instead of her own ambient shadow, and Adam could not help feel a burning sense of satisfaction watching the spear that Sunny had built sting her mother.

Now sting was an accurate term, usually a conductive force like that would have been enough to cause cardiac arrest, but in Kanza it seemed just to have pissed her off, but that didn't matter as, just as she was raising her spear for another strike, Celex came barreling in again energy crackling around his closed fist punching her with all the force he had.

Maker vs mortal was no contest, and Kazna was sent rolling across the room sending bits of crystal flying and leaving a furrow in the floor.

She hit the far wall and grunted, but lifted her head immediately golden eyes burning with hatred.

She looked towards Adam, "That's fine, you may have bright your maker sidekick, but so did I." And then out of seemingly nowhere Celex screamed, and Adam turned to find Everette had snuck up behind the emperor and leaped on his back, sinking rotting blackened teeth into the flesh of his neck.

Celex tried to throw him off with a burst of energy, but the Maker was immune.

The floor around him fractured.

Adam wobbled holding his hands out to either side as he watched a delicate hairline crack appear at the center of the room, only to begin spreading outward.

Celex threw Everette from his shoulders, golden Icor pouring down his neck, but everett was back at him again.

The momentary distraction would cost Adam deerly, and in that moment he felt a terrible impact as he was thrown backwards, slamming into the already weakened crystal, causing more cracks to appear.

He looked down to find Kazna's spear.

Inside his helmet warning lights blinked redundantly alerting him to a breach in his armor.

But luckily the spear had not' gone very deep stopped by multiple layers of armor and padding.

Kazna stood over him, and with a grunt she bore down on the shaft of the speer.

Adam cried out in pain as metal bit into his flesh, but he wasn't going to stand there and wait.

He would get no leverage with his own spear but turned and stabbed Kazna straight through the foot with the retractable blade in his armor. Kazna roared and he attempted to hamstring her like he had done once before.

Cutting the tendons in the back of her legs to cripple her until the Void granted her her feet again.

She leapt back withdrawing her spear with an arch of his own crimson blood, but clearly he wasn't the only one who had been granted a memory.

Kazna screamed and lunged forward.

Fealty, and the iron eye suit were in full combat mode now. Adam could feel the whirring of his body as it came to life. His mechanical eye dimmed his surroundings pulling away the saturation so he could focus only on his target.

To the side of them Everette threw celex through a crystal pillar causing it to erupt in a spray of diamond crystal that filled the room. Kazna launched for him, but he battered her attack aside. They exchanged another flurry of blows, red and orange blood spreading and mixing on the ground at their feet as crystal continued to fracture and crack.

Inside his head there were no thoughts, only images.

Kazna came in again, exchanging another flurry. Adam stepped forward but at the last moment the floor beneath him caved slightly and he fell out of balance, she took advantage, ducking behind him and throwing the shaft of the spear over his head and in front of his neck. He jolted backward pinned against her body as she began to apply pressure to his armor. The plates around his neck were smaller and weaker than those on his chest or arms, to allow for more flexible movement,

But they were also more breakable, and through the padding he could feel a terrible pressure.

She was stronger than she had any right to be.

Powered by the void, and all her attention pointed to wanting to crush him like a soda can.

He struggled and she squeezed.

He grabbed at her spear and tried to force it away, but he couldn't gain enough leverage to push against her.

Fealty whined.

She pressed down.

Metal screeched, and Adam gasped for air as his own armor bit down upon him.

"I will enjoy killing you, and once I am done, I will rid this world of the abominations you and my daughter have spawned."

Kazna might have won this fight.

Might have just beaten him.

If she hadn't made that one crucial mistake.

Threatening his children.

His son kay,, and the unborn daughter, or who he hoped was a daughter, that he had planned on meeting some day, who he was already attached to even though he probably shouldn't have been. Kay's face flashed through his mind, a baby face and large green eyes . he tried imagining them wide with fear as Kazna came for him, and in that moment the maker lent his body strength.

His poor weak physical construct, the prison in which his anima was held snapped, and gave Adam a gift it only reserved for special occasions.

Inhuman strength.

Adam roared, the steel eye armor roared, and Kazna roared in shock as adam pitched forward, and with all his might he flipped Kazna over his head, all one ton of Drev Chitin and armor coming to crash down on the fractured crystal floor. The eruption was a lud one heralded immediately by an eruption of steam, as the floor shattered and Kazna plunged into its boiling surface.

Adam began to fall too, but just as his feet dipped into the roiling surface he engaged his jetpack.

He couldn't afford to hit that water.

Not now with a suit breach.

The floor below him vanished taking with it the body of the theocrat and any evidence he might have used for the zealot

And then the entire structure began to shake and crumble.

Great chunks fell down from the ceiling to impact the ground, shattering anything else that remained. Overhead the entire building began tumbling down around him. Adam couldn't see celex and everett anymore but he trusted the emperor to take care of himself and fired up his jetpack.

He could see no eits so he simply ducked his head and hoped for the best.

With a great impact and a rush of crystal he burst through the top of the building and into the sky which was now dark with the night. Shouted voices and confused thoughts hung around him in the air, and he spotted the Zelots lingering on the bridge and watching in horror as their cathedral crumbled into the midst of the boiling lake.

Adam had a feeling that this was not going to be good for intergalactic relations.

Even worse if his suspicions were true.

He glanced down into the dark bubbling water.

Kazna certainly wouldn't die that easy.
