The human body is a marvel of engineering, now that is generally up to the individual to decide how to marvel: perhaps it is awe at the natural beauty and power that the human body can produce, perhaps the marvel is wondering how such a slap dash construction of bone and flesh operates without collapsing into a pile of mush since the human spine is a waiting disaster, and human feet are a crime against nature making humans basically a jenga tower full of meat juice.

But perhaps that's not the point.

Ever find it interesting how, watching animal documentaries, the workers are always so concerned with making sure the animals don't get stressed? Specifically birds and some reptiles can just straight up die when placed under stress, but when it comes to humans you'd be hard pressed to kill one even under the most stressful of life events.

Hard to say what causes this.

Perhaps being one of the weakest predators on a deathworld forces you to get used to being at the bottom of the food chain. Perhaps it's something else but either way, the human body has always been asked to do a lot, and sometimes it even does more than what it is expected to do.

At least that's what Krill thought as he sat in a spreading pool of blood watching Adam's heart beat onward despite bottoming out blood pressure. It was a valiant effort, a valiant effort that, with every pump of his heart, was only spilling more blood onto the floor. Now, Krill had been prepared for this, of course, and had brought some blood with him, hidden and stored away inside his medical supplies, he was't stupid.

But pumping him full of blood wouldn't matter unless he could stop the bleeding which still coursed out of his now open wound. Mitzen had cut the shaft of the trident a good few feet down. Now at Kazna's height this still left a good portion of the trident intact, but it was now light enough that Krill felt confident in his ability to remove it. Blood red light slicked the shaft of the spear turning actual blood black. He was able to slip his tools in through the open wound and gently manuver the barbs out of the flesh. Using all four of his arms to gingerly do the procedure, he was able to cover the barbs and pull the trident out handing it to Mitzen who carefully set it aside as more blood began welling up from the wound.

Below the blood, Adam's skin was pale and cold, growing colder bare chest barely rising and falling with breaths that were growing more and more ineffective by the minute.

All of this as a whirlwind of chaos went on behind him, a tableau of combat painted in red.

Or perhaps it was wrong to separate the two events, as even as he worked, a body crashed through the space right over Krill's head kicking up a wild gust of wind , only to land on Adam's discarded pile of armor and go rolling across the floor sending armor pieces scattering in all directions. Krill ducked and shouted, Mitzen gave a cry f alarm before diving to the side.

Sunny skidded across the floor and came to a slow stop face down against the dark marble, but it didn't take long before she was moving again, bracing her hands against the stone and shifting her spear to one of her other hands. She raised her head displaying half of her helmet, which had been shattered by an immense impact, leaving one of her golden eyes to glitter from the rift.

She pushed herself from the ground and got to her feet quickly, raising her voice in a deafening yell as she charged past them and back into the fray. Maverick and Ramirez dueled with Everette side by side, their two human bodies barely a match against a corrupted maker all while Sunny and Celex took on Kazna.

Celex leaped from the darkness, grabbing kazna around the throat and letting off a discharge of golden light that ripped the shadows from her body and sent them spinning across the room. She spun in a circle, elbowed Celex in the face, throwing him to the ground and raised her spear just in time to catch Sunny, again. They clashed twice before Kazna ducked low trying to Sweep Sunny's legs, but Sunny simply jumped forcing the butt of her spear into Kazna's open temple.

On the other side of the room Ramirez moved into a flanking position behind Everette and as Maverick ducked, he shot Everette straight in the back, right between his shoulder blades. The shot didn't kill him but everette gave a roar of pain ad spun on ramirez. He cut downward with his spear, and ramirez flung himself to the side avoiding an impact that cracked stone and surely would have broken bone.

And at the center of it all, Conn sat cross legged and floating gently in the air, his eyes closed, his robbins billowing softly around him in a nebulous sort of cloud. Kazna staggered from another of Sunny's onslaughts, batted sunny away with one hand and drew back her first.

Sunny was knocked to the ground with the force of Kazna's punch to the chest and was forced to roll quickly away as Kazna stabbed downward, barely avoiding the spear as it impacted the ground, once, twice, three times. Kazna was ready to give a forth attack when Celex tackled her form the side again forcing his hand into her face to discharge yet another burst of golden light.

Kazna screamed as flesh sizzled.

Sunny was on her feet again.

Running towards her mother who batted Celex away.

Shadows ran like a torrent across the room, back towards Kazna where they pooled and rolled up her body.

At the top of the room Conn frowned deeply and slowly opened his eyes turning them to look at Adam who lay prone and cold on the floor as Krill worked to keep him alive. The pale skin of his bare chest was almost entirely coated in a layer of blood now, his armor pieces scattered across the floor.

Everett ducked past Ramirez's guard slamming a fist into his waiting chest and causing the metal to cave in with a sharp crunch. Ramirez staggered back a look of surprise evident even on his helmeted head as he fell to the floor. Maverick screamed in rage and charged him, alone now.

Sunny spun a series of complicated moves that resulted in her scoring a sharp hit to Kazna's upper chest, but it came at a severe cost. Even as Sunny's spear entered her flesh, Kazna reached out and grabbed Sunny by the throat, spinning and throwing her to the floor with a sickening thud.

Conn closed his eyes again, focusing.

Kazna backhanded Celex as he ran forward throwing him to the ground and leaving him there as she came towards her daughter, who lay on the floor now recovering from a daze. Sunny's spear had fallen somewhere during her tumble and now lay glittering with its pearly white sheen as Kazna reached down to scoop it up. The spear looked small in her massive hand, almost like a child's toy as she came to stand over Sunny.

She looked the spear over with some measure of amusement before drawing her arm back and reading the spear, aiming at the junction between Sunny's Skull and spine.

She said nothing.

No witty remarks or last words.

Simply an execution.

And that's when three obsidian prongs ripped through her chest showering the ground in orange gore as she staggered back with a scream, shadows exploding from her body again and thrown across the room. Overhead the glowing red light burned harder and brighter, filling the room with light and causing the shadows to shrivel and writhe on the floor where they died under the slowly growing intensity.

And at the far end of the room, Adam straightened himself from a crouch, blood dripping from his outstretched fingers, from whence the trident had sprung. In The now stark light, his face was ghostly pale, his upper torso streaked in crimson. He wore armor only from the waist down now bare chest and rms exposed to open air, SE exosuit whirring with eager hunger at the prospect of combat.

Kazna staggered back another step, eyes wide.

Krill and Mitzen started on in awe as Adam took one step forward and then another stepping out of a puddle of his own blood.

His one green eye began to glow with a burning intensity.

Continued to trickle its way down his chest.

"HOW!" Kazna demanded.

Adam paused tilting his head as if he was examining a particularly interesting bug.

He glanced downward, eyes falling on his chest which dripped blood down his front.

With a look of almost annoyance, Adam reached up with one pale hand. and without warning, jammed his fingers into the open wounds. The sound was sickening, loud in the echoing room as he dug his fingers deeper into his own flesh, blood welling up and around his hands and dripping onto the floor. The fighting had gone silent, all of them watching in shock.

Adam didn't take his eyes away from kazna as light began to build up around his hands.

Inside the wound flesh sizzled and blood began to boil.

Adam's mouth twitched as smoke curled up from the interior of his wounds filling the room with the smell of cooked meat. He brought his hand from the wound now spattered in gore and plunged his fingers into the second opening, repeating the process two more times before finally withdrawing his hand.

Mitzen looked as if he was going to be sick.

Adam then reached up and placed his hands over the wound seering the flesh closed and cauterizing the wound shut allowing no more blood to flow,

Kazna leaned against the far wall, grasping the shaft of the spear and gasping in pain.

Adam gave her a cordial smile, "I thought it was only fair I leveled the playing field." Blood still continued to drip from his body as he stepped forward over the open floor. The room was still silent, he kept his eyes on Kazna, "That was pretty badass wasn't it? Hopefully this fight will manage to be as Cool as Obi Wan and Qui Gon Vs darth maul."

He continued to walk forward slowly, tracking bloody footprints over the floor as his skin began to burn with white hot light Impetus or Adam it was hard to tell. He sneered, "Unfortunately for me, I am getting more Vader vs kenobi in Episode IV vibes, though in this metaphor I am Vader and you are kenobi, and you just stand there while I kill you." he said reaching down and pulling his waiting collapsable spear from its hip holster. It snapped to life with a sharp pop, and he spun it once.

Kanza snarled, hands gripping the shaft of the spear, "Do you ever shut up."

Adam grinned at her, pearly white teeth shimmering in the burning light from above, "No, it's all part of my boyish charm."

And then Kazna ripped the trident from her chest with a scream and an explosion of orange gorewich spattered the floor, before turning and hurling it at Adam at speeds which were clearly beyond natural law.

Even so Adam dodged lazily, almost contemptuously to the side, batting the trident away with his own weapon, at speeds that were clearly inhuman.

There was a burst of sparks and a mild eruption as the trident impacted the ground, and then shattered into a hundred different pieces sending splinters outwards to pepper all of them where they sat.

Adam shook his head.

"Going to have to try harder than that."

Kazna screamed grabbing Sunny's discarded spear from the floor and raced towards Adam.
