The three rookies, aka Shinra, Arthur and Shin, are now in Asakusa to receive training.
Why, you ask? Well, this was a decision made by Obi and Konro for Shinmon Benimaru to train them in order for them to gain experience.
And yes, Shin was not happy as he had been awoken way too early for his taste.
"This is Shinra from the 8th! Is anyone there?!" Shinra shouted to no one in particular.
Suddenly, Shinmon was now behind him with a piece of wood.
"If this was combat, you would've already died." Shinmon commented. "You're here to have me train you, right? Don't let your guard down."
"Dimwit-" Before Arthur could continue belittling Shinra, he was hit in the forehead with a bamboo.
"I told you. Don't let your guard down." Shinmon warned.
"You two are the dimwits." Shin shook his head with folded arms, stifling back a yawn.
Shinmon looked back at the three, now with an irk mark on his forehead.
"Come with me." was all he said as he started to walk away. -----------------------------------------------------------
Now, the three were in an open area, openly facing the strongest fire soldier.
Shinmon had suddenly lifted his arm, making Shinra and Arthur tense up. When he only scratched his head, the two eased up with a sigh of relief. Shin on the other hand was more focused on the cloudy sky, which he found beautiful. He was so engrossed in it, he didn't even hear what Shinmon was saying.
It was only the sound of combat that shook the boy out if his daze.
"Eh? They're fighting." Shin scratched his head while half-heartedly watching the fight.
The duo were constantly getting bested by the captain, unable to land a clean hit as he just kept on defending with his bare hands.
"Shin, what exactly are you doing? Come at me." Shinmon said at the boy who was blankly staring at the three with dotted eyes.
"Ah, my bad." Shin started to get a little serious, suddenly disappearing from everyone's sight.
Shin had aimed a punch at Shinmon's shoulder, which the captain had blocked. This went on for what seemed like forever when Shinmon suddenly stopped the rampaging Shin.
"You're not using your pyrokinesis. I thought I told you to fight like I'm out to take your life." Shinmon frowned, stretching his sore limbs which had taken powerful blows during their fight.
"If I did, I might actually kill you." Shin sent a slight smirk, irking the captain.
"Tch, that's enough." Shinmon said, stopping Shinra and Arthur who were planning to use Shin as their distraction for an attack.
"What? Already?" Arthur asked.
"Your aptitude is okay, but you're not about to land a hit on me." Shinmon clarified, ignoring the glares from a certain long haired boy."Your attacks have no element of surprise. You're lacking something. A finishing move."
"A finishing move?!" Was what Shinra said, before getting brutally kicked in the face by Shinmon."I told you not to let your guard down!"
"Think of something that can utilise your speed." The 7th's Captain said.
"Leave it to you, Captain Shinmon. You're the best at noticing these things." A familiar figure revealed himself.
"Huh?" Shinmon ominously replied.
"Oh hello, I am Company 8's gate-crashing forensic science team, Viktor Licht." Viktor introduced himself to the captain of the 7th. "I've thought up a way to power-up Shinra."
Jet propulsion, was what Viktor had suggested. You see, by converging flames into one direction, the propulsive force will be increased. By compressing the emitted flame, burst firepower can be increased. Yes, this was Viktor's explanation.
Shinmon used his own fire to demonstrate how it works, amazing Shinra.
"Right now Shinra, your flames wastefully spread out in many directions. By simply consolidating them, your theust will increase that much." Viktor explained.
'Compressing my flames... what exactly would that do to my abilities?' Shin was lost in his own thoughts, willing to give it a go himself.
"Shinra, keep practicing your finsihing move. Arthur, your ability is your finishing move. Spar with me and let's train your fundamentals." Shinmon informed the two, looking towards the daydreaming Shin. "Shin, I have no idea what any of your abilities are, so you are free to do the same as Shinra."
Shin hesitantly nodded. It was time to put his theory to a test. -----------------------------------------------------------
Now, Shin was working on his ability, finger gun.
You see, Shin plans to compress his flames so that when he uses finger gun, he does not have to worry about the surroundings being damaged as much as it used to. However, there was a problem.
'How do I compress it...?'
Shin looked over at Shinra, who was doing some weird ass hand sign before the flames under him exploded, making him fall back.
"Hand sign? I already have one." Shin made his hand into a shape of a gun, while he used his other as a sort of 'controller'.
"If I use one hand to control the flames and the other to produce it, would I get the feeling of compression?" Shin muttered in thought.
Shin looked at his surroundings, noticing that it was actually quite spacious. If he lowered his firepower, he would definitely be able to cause minor damage to the buildings. ----------------------------------------------------------- Viktor looked at Shin in amusement. 'Looks like he has found another way to do it.' He smirked.
"Ah, Viktor. What exactly is Shin doing with his hands like that?" Konro asked the scientist curiously.
"From what I'm seeing, he's planning on using his 2nd and 3rd generation pyrokinesis to compress his flames." Viktor explained.
"S-Shin is a hybrid?! So he's just like Waka?" Konro nervously scratched the back of his head, looking at the boy. -----------------------------------------------------------
Aim at the ground. All Shin needed to do was aim at the ground with a lower amount of firepower.
"Fire gun: firepower 4%." Before the flames were released, Shin quickly used his other hand to tighten the flame.
"Bang." A straight beam of fire came out of Shin's finger, making contact with the ground. As soon as it did, Shin was sent flying up at least 30 metres from the impact alone, making everyone's eyes widen in surprise.
Shin landed on his two feet, looking at the big crater he had created with slightly widened eyes.
'I didn't use much firepower, yet it was still this powerful?' Shin thought, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Shinra quickly ran to his friend with sparkles of admiration all over his face. "Shin! How did you do that?! That was absolutely amazing!"
"Uh... I dunno. I'm still working on it." Shin shrugged, getting straight back to his thoughts. -----------------------------------------------------------
Everyone's eyes widened as they saw Shin getting shot up to the sky.
"He managed to get a sense of it in his first try, what an absolute monster." Viktor sweatdropped, looking at the boy who was casually poking the crater he made.
"Amazing... That much power from a tiny attack?" Konro commented, sweating in utter disbelief.
'What a monster. Why is he even here if he doesn't even need training?'Shinmon, who now had his attention on Shin, thought. Honestly, just his combat skill alone was able to do more damage than Shinra and Arthur's combined attacks, which had surprised Shinmon from the start. Not like he'd ever admit it. -----------------------------------------------------------
Now back to Shin, who was deep in thought yet again.
'The feeling of the flame compressing... I actually felt it.'
Shin produced a large amount of fire, slowly using the feeling he had experienced just now to tighten it's flame.
Surprise surprise, it actually worked.
And with that, Shin was yet again in the air, falling towards the ground with full impact, before casually getting up again as his barrier had prevented any injuries.
'I've never tried this before, but if I apply compression to two finger guns, wouldn't I look cool?' Shin smiled abit at the thought, letting his childish side take control. He had always enjoyed detective movies since young, and every one of them always had someone who would dual wield guns. It was where he got his inspiration for 'finger gun', after all.
"Double finger gun: Fire power 4%" Shin aimed at the sky so that it wouldn't do any damage on the area. After all, two finger guns meant double the power.
"Bang."
The attack was so powerful that everyone had to hang onto something to avoid being shaken to the ground. Yes, the impact had caused a mini earthquake.
"Damn it, don't destroy my town, you damned brat!" Shinmon shouted in annoyance.
"Ah, sorry." Shin smiled to himself, proud of the outcome of his finalized ability.
Now, 'finger gun' no longer shoots fire balls, but concentrated beams of fire. This will decrease the amount of damage to the surroundings while also increase the attack potency against an enemy. Though, the shockwave was definitely still a problem, a problem that Shin could not control.
'Shockwaves won't destroy anything as long as I minimize my firepower.' was what Shin thought of to feel better about his progress.
'It's amazing how Shin could do it so easily without any techniques, and on his first time as well.He must have an amazing control of flames, probably the best I have ever seen.' Viktor smirked to himself, realising what a freaking monster company 8 has gotten their hands on.
'It really was worth it staying here then.'
