Right now, Sho and Shinra were both in an Adolla Link. This made Shin heave a sigh.
'Damn...I know those two haven't met in ages, but how many times are they going to link up with each other?' Shin looked back towards the area he was explicitly aware of. 'Those people...are they still here?'
When their link was severed, Sho was in tears while Shinra was gently embracing him. This made Shin's heart pound as he stared at the unfamiliar sight infront of him.
'For some reason, my body wishes to be embraced by such warmth too. Is this what they call "love deprivation"?' Shin smacked himself in the face with his two hands, feeling his face heat up slightly. 'That sounds so dirty, I'm ashamed of how far I've fallen.'
Shin was too distracted by his mentak breakdown to realise that Shinra had accidentally been stabbed by Sho's sword, and that another girl had popped out if nowhere.
"Ah! Shinra!" Viktor screamed, making Shin snap out of his bullcrap.
"Eh? Who the heck is that chick?" Shin stupidly asked, making Viktor deadpan.
"Oh,my. It looks like he couldn't control his speed, and ended up stabbing himself." The mysterious girl cooed creepily, making Shin's face twitch in disgust. "Shinra Kusakabe bears an Adolla Burst. We can't have him dying on us. I'll withdraw with him."
'Ah... I'm dying... my self-disgust is eating me alive.' Shin started walking towards the three.
"Don't get near them, they just reunited after so long." Shin said with a disgusted tone, mostly directed to himself. Right now, he was directly facing the girl, shielding both Sho and Shinra from her. "If you do that... I don't care if you're a girl, I'll beat you up."
"S-Shin?!" Shinra tried to get up, but wasn't able to as his wounds were too deep.
"Ah...right. There's a more important question I want your answer to.What exactly do you plan on doing with the Adolla Bursts? It's annoying when you guys can't seem to keep that topic to yourselves." Shin asked as he lazily rubbed the back of his head.
"The great Cataclysm, 250 years ago, seems to have been a misfire. By gathering Adolla Bursts, we're going to kick-start the great Cataclysm once again!" Haumea proudly explained, making Shin tilt his head in confusion.
'Cataclysm? I remember it being mentioned in one of the lessons back at the academy, but I never listened to any of the details.' Shin thought, sweating a little as he was struggling to keep up with the sudden history class.
"Why are you telling them about it?!" Another stranger yelled out from behind the pillar.
"Ah, oopsies. No matter, they won't be able to stop us anyways." Haumea stuck out her tongue, making Shin grow an irk mark.
"Now then, let us quickly retrieve Shinra Kusakabe and get out of here!" Haumea happily skipped towards Shinra, before she was stopped by Shin grabbing onto her arm.
"Damn, you're really annoying, just get outta my sight." Haumea sends an electric current towards Shin in an attempt to control him, but it failed. 'Eh? My electric current isn't passing through.'
"Such pointless attempts." Shin throws the girl harshly into several pillars, to which Haumea had managed to stand back up while dusting her clothes.
"Wow~! What strength! I rather like forceful men, so why don't you just beat me up more?!" Haumea prepares to fight, but before either of them could cross-swords, Sho had appeared infront of Haumea.
"Tell me what happened 12 years ago." Sho said, to which Haumea had declined before going to attack again. When Sho attempted to use his 'severed universe', Haumea was not affected by it and had used her elctric current on him, taking control of him.
"Sho!" Shinra shouted, making Shin start running up to the two in an attempt to save Sho. As he raised his fist to attack Haumea, she had controlled Sho so that he would stand infront of her, making Shin stop immediately just as his fist was inches away from the boy's face.
"You...!"
"Oh my, you wouldn't want to hurt your beloved friend's brother, would you?" Haumea teased the young man, making Shin absolutely furious.
'I can't... I'll hurt him. I'll hurt everyone. I must control myself.' Shin was trying so hard to control his killing intent that he was on his knees, panting heavily. 'This damned woman...'
"Hahaha!" Haumea laughed with glee as she watched someone she considered a monster fall to his knees, eyes glaring at her like she was nothing but pure scum. "How amazing! Show me more of that expression!"
Shin never got angry in public. It was something that no one has ever seen before, some even say he's an empty shell. But in truth, if Shin ever got mad, he would always isolate himself in his room, away from anyone else as he tried to contain his emotions. The moment Shin felt an unbearable sense of anger,he would always be out of control, making him all the more dangerous for people around him.
But now, the amount of anger he was experiencing was so huge that it was impossible for him to even stand from how much his body was shaking. His head was starting to hurt as his eyes felt like they were bulging out of his skull. He even took off his barrier so he could start banging his head on the floor.
'Ah... It hurts so much. I've never felt this before, no matter how much external damage I'm causing to myself, it just won't disappear. It's like my body's on fire. Someone stop me, before I kill everyone here.' Shin's eyes start to tear up, making Haumea smile sadistically as she watched the man infront of her fall apart.
"What's wrong, hm? I didn't know you were so fragile~ want me to make you feel better?" Haumea decided against controlling Shin as she found beating him to a pulp and hearing his screams much more amusing.
"Ah... I can't anymore. Let got of Sho... or else I'll never forgive you...!" Shin desperately tried to reach out to the boy despite his detrimentally weakened state. Right now, Shin's body was fighting back it's own urges, using much more energy than when it was when fighting anyone else. That was how strong Shin was. The only person that could possibly stop him was infact himself, and it's taking a heck lotta effort. This was exactly why Shin thought emotions were such a pain, because it literally felt like his skull was getting ripped apart. But hey, everyone has their own limits.
Haumea suddenly used her electric current to control Shinra, putting him next to Sho. She then removed the sword from Shinra's body, making him bleed out infront of Shin's eyes.
"Fine, fine~ You didn't want me ruining their little reunion right?" Haumea continued to provoke Shin, making the two hold each other's hands. "See? They're so happily together, they're even holding each other's hands so lovingly! Isn't that adorable."
Shin snapped. His eyes suddenly glowed a deep red as he ran towards Haumea in speeds even she could not see, catching the girl off guard as she was sent pummeling down the ground. Shin covered his fists with flames, continuously punching the girl so brutally that Yona, who was still hiding behind the pillar observing the whole thing, was so terrified he pissed himself. Yona immediately got himself up and ran out to get back up.
"I'll kill you. I'll kill you. I'll kill you." Shin kept on repeating without any emotions in his voice, which contradicted the punches that held so much anger. In fact, the attacks were so strong, that up above the Nether, there was a huge earthquake that shook the Earth to it's core.
"Hands of the flame god, firepower-" before Shin could use what he called his 'finishing move', he was struck in the neck by someone, making his vision slightly blur.
"Who-" Shin quickly sent a punch towards the individual who had struck him, but it was easily blocked as his body was slowly falling unconscious. However, it wasn't going to be easy stopping him when he's lost his mind.
Shin shakily stood up, panting heavily as he focused his sight onto the now unconscious Haumea before turning back to face his other 'opponents'. When he turned to look at who had attempted to knock him out, instead of the white-clad he thought he'd encounter, Company 8 was standing infront of him.
"Y-You guys..." Shin grabbed his head, trying to regain his thoughts as his mind was still taken over by his bloodlust. "Get the fuck away from me, you idiots."
"Snap out of it, Shin!" Obi screamed to the boy, making his head hurt even more.
"Sir... I don't think Shin is in a right state of mind." Hinawa hesitantly took out a gun, in the case of a worse case scenario. "We must take both Shinra and Shin back to a hospital. They are both in critical conditions."
'Eh...Shinra?' Shin looked back towards Shinra, his eyes widened in horror.
"S-Shinra!" Shin tried to run towards Shinra, but before he could his legs had given out, making him fall face first on the ground. However, Arthur had already ran towards Shinra, carrying him back to Company 8's side. Suddenly, multiple men dressed all in white appeared, making company 8 tense up as they prepared for an incoming attack.
As Yona and his back up looked at what state someone who owned an Adolla Burst, Haumea, was in, retreating was the only thing in their mind.
'Damn it... there's no way I can fight them all by myself, especially not with that monster!' Yona panicked, referring to Shin when he thought of the word monster. He signalled two people to pick up both Sho and Haumea, all of them quickly disappearing out of sight.
Shin could only watch helplessly as Sho was taken away by the white-clad, not even being able to stand as his body was slowly giving out.
The next thing he saw after that was all black. -----------------------------------------------------------
'Ah... What the hell? I'm falling. Maybe I should've at least used one of my abilities.' Shin sighed, almost wanting to self-oof after remembering what had happened. To say that he had held back was an understatement, considering that bitch was using his friend and friend's brother as her meat shield, but even that was able to knock her out of her state of mind. Before he had fallen in his comatose state, he had made sure to absorb the elctric current inside of Shinra to make sure he wouldn't get controlled while he was resting.
'Anyways, why am I even conscious? Aren't I asleep right now?' Yes Shin, you are in your mind. Suddenly, a soft voice interrupted his thoughts.
'My baby boy, you've grown so much.' Huh? Who the hell is that? Shin looked up, observing his memories. He first saw a middle-aged woman, black hair, blue eyes. Resembled him in almost every way, it almost freaked him out.
'Who the hell are you, my mother? Get outta here, it's my mind.' Suin tsked, folding his arms as he closed his eyes trying to fall asleep, failing miserably of course.
'My son, you've found out about everything, huh? I've had to abandon you in that wretched academy, yet even that was futile. I shall show you your memories, and only you will decide what to make of it.' The woman solemnly looks down on the 18-year-old, as if the only thing she felt was regret.
Suddenly, Shin was transported into a room, inside a baby crib of all places.
'Is it just me or have I grown a million times shorter.'
"Ah, my baby!" The same woman from before cried tears of joy as she hugged Shin tightly with both arms.
'So she really is my mom.'
"Honey! He really took after me!" The woman happily bragged to her husband, who couldn't even see how the baby was even his considering he only took after his mother. The man had White hair and glowing red eyes, tan skin and all. One could even mistake him as a handsome vampire.
"Dear, how about you stop rubbing it in." The man folded his arms with a pout, though it was only seen through Shin as he too did that.
'Poker face, pouting, folding arms. That's my father alright, I guess I got his personality.' Shin unconsciously smiled at the foreign affection he was getting, which made the baby in his mother's arms smile as well.
"Oh my! He smiled, honey! He smiled! He's going to grow into a handsome young man, just like you!" Shin's mother's eyes teared up, seeing the baby she vowed to spend the rest of her life with. Even Shin's father couldn't help but let out a little smile, further convincing Shin that he was indeed his father.
"He really is beautiful, dear. He's got your looks, after all."
'Man, so mooshy, I wonder if this is how people really act with the ones they love.'
"So, what name shall we have him to have?" Shin's father asked.
"Ah, I was just thinking about that! How about 'Shin' from my name, Aoshin. And 'suke' from yours, Yusuke!" Shin's mother excitedly suggested, eyes sparkling as she stared at her husband for affirmation.
"Shinsuke Hitoka, then. It's perfect." Shin's father chuckled slightly, pecking his wife on the cheek as they both couldn't help but stare at their little package of joy.
'Eh...Why is this making me so emotional?' Shin scoffed, holding back the tears he didn't know existed in him until before.
"Yusuke! Your stare is too scary, you scared the poor child!" Aoshin scolded, worriedly patting the crying child's tummy, trying to calm him down.
'I'm crying... aren't I.' Shin wanted to die. He never liked showing his emotions, he always thought it was embarrassing. Yet, here he was, infront of two grown adults, crying his eyes out. I mean, he was a baby now, so it was okay right. Right?!
Shin was now watching from afar, as he watched his parents play with his five-year-old self.
'Ah, this is when-'
Suddenly, toddler Shin shot out a large fireball while playing as a mini spy, shocking his parents as the whole abandoned factory was burnt to ashes.
"Hahaha! He's too cute with his little 'bang!'!" Aoshin happily carried toddler Shin into her arms, ignoring the fact that he had blown up a whole building.
Yusuke only sweatdropped, running towards the two as he engulfed them both into a hug.
Shin had thought that this was a gesture of love, but he quickly retracted that thought when the ground suddenly violently shook. Shin stared at the giant hooded figure, confused as to who it was.
Toddler Shin just childishly pointed at the figure, still giggling. "Mommy, Daddy? Who's that? She's big and dresses funny."
The two turned around, cautiously staring at the all too familiar figure infront of them. None of their eyes burned.
"Why are you here?! I thought I've killed you, and yet you still show yourself!" Yusuke angrily shouted towards the figure, while Aoshin covered her toddler's ears and eyes with her body, she too was glaring at the figure.
'Who is that? She seems awfully familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time.' The original Shin thought.
"Your child... hand him to me." The woman only pointed to the toddler in Aoshin's arms, making Yusuke all the more furious.
"Don't you dare touch our son, I'll end you!" Yusuke cursed, getting ready to attack when he suddenly stopped.
"Yusuke!" Aoshin cried, helplessly gransping onto her child as she watched her husband slowly getting torn to shreds.
"You are no longer a threat to me... After years of not fighting, your skills have gotten so rusty. While I on the other hand, have only grown stronger and stronger." The mysterious figure said with a sly smile. "Hand over the boy with the ashen flame, now."
Aoshin immediately took action, surrounding her and her son in her own constant heat manipulation barrier.
"You possess the ultimate defense, while your husband possesses the ultimate offense. Now, it resides in that boy, stronger than it ever was in his own parents' body. The flames have taken an obvious liking to the child, for not even the Adolla Burst and 4th generation hurts him. It's extremely sickening for such a weapon to be out of my hands." Before the figure could take the boy, toddler Shin playfully shot a figergun at the woman, surprising hurting her.
"Heh heh! Mommy look! I shot the bad guy, so will come back, right?" The innocent 5-year-old boy childishly said, still hung up on his fantasies that could never happen.
Aoshin gently stroked her baby's hair with tears in her eyes threatening to drip out. "Daddy will never come back, but don't worry. I will protect you with my last breath."
The hooded woman irked at the damage toddler Shin's flames caused to her body. The flame was something even she who is the 'Sun God' could not comprehend. The only flame she could not control, his flame.
While the hooded woman was distracted, Aoshin quickly took out three golden rings, putting it on her son's arms and neck. She quickly teleports them to a fire force academy.
"Shinsuke, my dear. Your father and I will not always be by your side, that we will always protect you."
"Eh? Shinsuke Hitoka is never scared of bad guys, so don't worry about me. Once you're done with your mission, you and daddy will be beside me, right?"
"..." Aoshin couldn't bear to lie to her beloved son, as she knew she was never coming back. She held her son lovingly for the last time before hesitantly letting go.
"Mommy will go know, Shin. When I do, please go inside that building over there," Aoshin pointed towards the academy, which toddler Shin nodded to. "and tell them your parents' names. They'll help you while we're gone."
"Okay!"
That was the last Shin ever saw either of her parents. -----------------------------------------------------------
"Ah..." Shin's eyes couldn't help but tear up. "Mother..."
"Yes, my son. I've always been in your mindset ever since I had passed away." Aoshin explained, which Shin calmly listened to. "You don't know, Shin, but your barrier actually far exceeds mine. It not only blocks fire, but everything else as well. Nothing which threatens your safety will ever pass through your barrier, even sound and light. Not even the Adolla Burst affects you, which is why the Evangelist is so invested in you."
"So, that hooded woman was this 'Evangelist'?" Shin asked as he tried to rub his tears away, to which Aoshin nodded solemnly.
"I do not have much time left, so I'll regrettably have to cut to the chase. Shin, the flames inside you are the 'Ashen flames'. They are flames that burn everything in it's way, even a being out of human concept can be hurt by it." Aoshin suddenly smiles. "The flames love you, Shin. You too need to love them, not fear them. When you connect with your flames, it too will recognize the ones you love and trust as someone not to hurt. In other words, it will not hurt anything besides your enemies. The three golden rings I have given to you are your staff as your firepower is too strong for a human body to control all at once. It will definitely be of help for you. If you wish so, it can even change to any form you wish it to be."
'Ah...Man thats pretty cool.'
"You must go now, Shin. You're slowly waking up. Do smile more and express more of your emotions openly, you take after your father when it comes to personality after all. You can only grow stronger from now on so as to protect not only you, but your friends." Aoshin smiled lovingly at her son, slowly disappearing from Shin's sight as his eyes finally open.
