"So, how was it?" A man in a white jacket suit, red-white striped shirt asked, referring to another man in the room with dark purple hair, a fedora, an eye patch and a cigarette in his mouth.

The fedora man, known as Joker, chuckled.

"The thing I asked you to make for me actually worked, though I almost got caught in the process." Joker reminisced, piercing blue eyes that stared right into his soul was all he could remember, it really sent chills all over his body. This intrigued him.

"Ah yes. I have looked into the company that was helping with the scene, Company 8 ,with the Devil's feet." The jacket man , known as Viktor Licht said, taking out a handful of documents and placing them of the desk. " It seems that we have found something more interesting than ever before, a hybrid."

Viktor pointed directly pointed to a document with the name 'Shinsuke Hitoka'. Ah yes. Joker remembered that piercing gaze, something that he had never seen before. The eyes of a predator, aiming to kill it's prey. How scary, how delightful.

Joker took two documents off the table and stared at them intently. With one named 'Shinra Kusakabe' and the other named 'Shinsuke Hitoka'. What will happen next?

-----------------------------------------------------------

It was the day of the rookie games, and Shin just wanted to go back home.

Right now, Shin was following both Arthur and Shinra along the area, not quite sure as to how he was supposed to act. So he acted like he always did, carefree and lazy.

Shin had on what he always had on, along with the gold rings that served as a limiter of sorts. For the enemies though, not so much for Shin himself. He had no problem controlling all his firepower at once, however he would definitely burn someone alive just by removing one of them, so he chose to keep them all on today, and every other day.

"Shinra, Arthur." Shin poked the two, making them both turn to him with confused expressions.

"Let's walk around." They all agreed on the idea, hence leading to the situation now.

Shinra met a girl named Tamaki Kotatsu, who seemed to be in Company 1, with a rather weird first impression. But Shin didn't really care.

Shinra had gone off earlier as soon as he saw the captain of company 1, so it was only left with Arthur and Shin.

When Arthur first met Shin, he had mistook him for a girl due to the beautiful long hair and pair of blue eyes he owned. Due to this and finding out he was a boy later on, Arthur strived to become Shin's friend, so he could boast about his bravery and strength to a princess of some sorts, which is quite unfortunate for Shin. But he relented.

Shin thought Arthur was an obnoxious weirdo at first, but when he found out that it was just Arthur being Arthur, he didn't really find it a problem anymore, befriending the strange fellow and forcing himself to stay awake during their little story sessions.

"The Rookie games are about to begin! All participants, please put on your turnout gear and gather at the meeting area." The speaker announced.

"Arthur." Shin poked Arthur's soldier, to which he got responded with a nod.

-----------------------------------------------------------

As the examiner was explaining the rules of the game, Shin was practically day dreaming, not finding such an irrelevant talk to be important.

"Ready and..."

"Start!"

With that, Shin immediately clinged onto Shinra as he propelled up into the building, leaving most of the other applicants there.

"Thanks for the ride, Shinra." Shin casually spoke, while Shinra was struggling with the weight of his friend passenger. Shinra only nodded with a wide grin.

When they both landed, Shinra took the lead, calling out for anyone who is alive, with Shin following behind.

'He seems to be in a hurry, I should probably just follow along.' Shin thought, nodding to himself in thought.

Suddenly, the two had reached a room, which had a familiar heat signature from before, for Shin of course.

"Ah. It's you." Shin pointed to the man, who was busy putting away unconscious bodies of examiners (?).

The man, Joker, looked at the two, before focusing on the piercing blue orbs of Shin.

The man smirked, now looking at Shinra.

"Yo, I took care of the people who would get in our way, Devil's footprints (feet , whatever)" Joker smirked.

"Would you like to know about what happened 12 years ago?"

Ah. This was a personal time for Shinra. Shin knew he shouldn't interfere in this battle as he was sure Shinra would do anything for such important information, so he did the most logical thing as someone with no significance to the situation. He sat at the side, watching intently.

"Shinra. Hurry up and beat this guy up. I'm tired." Shin said, looking at Joker dead in the eye with a serious glance.

"Dont pull that powder explosive stuff again." Shin said, pointing at Joker's pockets. This surprised Joker.

Shinra, being the righteous guy he is, only focuses on the two men defeated by Joker, hence leading to the battle they are having right now.

Shin observed the mysterious man's fighting skills, concluding that he was just playing with Shinra at this point. Shinra was not going to be able to beat this guy with how he is right now.

No matter how many kicks Shinra threw at the man, they were not effective. Shin wanted to step in, but found it in himself to allow Shinra to settle the burden of his past by himself.

Just in case though, if the man was gonna pull the whole "explosive powder' on Shinra, Shin was ready to step in.

The man took out a jar full of silver powder, this was Shin's time to intervene.

"Shinra." Shin tapped Shinra's shoulder, surrounding Shinra with a temporary constant heat manipulation barrier.

BOOM!

The parts of the room which had powder exploded seconds after it was released , sending huge shockwaves that shook the whole building.

However, to Joker's surprise, the two men were perfectly fine. Joker turned to Shin with an unreadable expression.

"It looks like I'll have to get rid of you first." The man said, before disappearing, reappearing again infront of Shin.

For Shinra , Joker disappeared for a second. But for Shin, the man looked like he was running towards him, so he easily knew where he was going to attack. However, Shin didn't even bother to dodge, as the attack did not even pass through his barrier anyways.

Shin pointed a finger at Joker.

"bang"

BOOM!

Even when Shin was holding back 95% of his firepower, the building still shook tremendously from the shock wave, walls and the ceilings were slowly about to crash down. They should've made a stronger building. Tsk.

"What strength... Is this the power of a hybrid?" The man gawked, holding his bleeding shoulder from the impact.

" I guess. I dunno." Shin shrugged. This really wasnt his true power at all. Heck, this isnt even the full power of one of his skills. Shin was both baffled and extremely disappointed.

If it wasn't for this game, he would've surely increased his firepower up by 5% to finish of this man in one go, but it would risk everybody in the vicinity, including company 8, Arthur and Shinra. Shin doesn't want that.

Shin let out his finger, absorbing all the fire in Joker's fire cards, which had been thrown yet again.

'Oh. Cards huh?' Shin tilted his head, looking at the now ordinary cards on the floor.

"Now," The man lets out all the powder in the jar. "let's see you save all of these people, hero." The man said, before disintegrating into smoke.

With this much powder, it was pretty apparent that this room was done for.

Shin did want to absorb it, but realized that it may actually explode within his body, causing a sad death. So he chose the next option, escape.

"Shinra. Use your feet and grab onto the two guys down there." Shin pointed to the two unconscious men " I'll make a hole in the ceiling.

Shin just sends a small fire sphere at the ceiling with so much preciseness it cleanly cuts a large enough circle for exit.

Just like that, the two left the building, flying down to the ground with the two unconscious men.

The rookie games definitely ended with a bang.
