~°°~you're mine till the end of time~°°~
Few miles away from Abuja, Nigeria. 18th January, 2022. 8:10pm.
Tauhida sighed again for the hundredth time since she was left alone and threw another pebble to a far distance. She was very bored out of life itself because no one was sitting to chat with her again, she enjoyed their company.
Just then, she heard the sound of a car driving into the field so she took her attention there. She stared as two people stepped out of the car and just like that, she recognised one of the two people.
"Ya Imran" she squealed standing up from her spot to run to his side which got his attention and everyone else as they all came out to receive any new orders that was gotten from the base.
Imran looked at his sister as if she'd grown two heads while the others looked at them as if they were aliens. "What are you doing here Tauhida?" Imran asked after she embraced him. He was already thinking that maybe his sister followed him to camp which is crazy but very possible since he knew how mad she could be at times.
"Ask your major" she said searching him with her eyes and when she found him, she rolled her eyes. "He was the one who mistook me for a terrorist and forcefully dragged me to this place. I was going to be taken to the base tomorrow if not for Allah loves me so he sent you as an angel to save me" Tauhida explained but Imran was still confused.
The possibility of Sayf going to his house to bring his sister there was 0%.
"Ask her what she was doing alone in the forest" Sayf said making Imran to turn to look at his sister again, she took that as the cue to explain
"We came to a fun camp with my friends and then we went treasure searching. I lost my bracelet when we got back so I had to go back to look for it, though I found it but I lost my way so I kept walking deeper into the forest, I was exhausted and very hungry that my stomach started grumbling. Immediately he saw me, he decided I was a terrorist so he brought me here" she explained.
"So stupid of you to go out in the forest alone when you know you don't know the way back and where is your phone?" He asked Tauhida. "I left it behind" she sighed.
"Ya ilahi Tauhida, you just keep on surprising me, you should have brought your phone along, I know you'll find signal at some point, but you didn't" he scolded.
"Ya Imran stop scolding me mana, I was going to cry myself to sleep fa because I thought that was how I will spend my life in the prison as I don't have anything to defend myself. And it's not like I did it intentionally" She ranted.
"Next time don't do it again, since I won't be everywhere to save you. Major, she's my blood sister so she did nothing illegal, I can assure of that" Imran said looking at Sayf who just nodded at him, he was standing with his hands in his pockets watching their little drama just like everyone else and he found the drama enticing.
"Captain your drama is funny" Zanna said chuckling a bit at them and just like they were waiting for their lead, they all laughed except Tauhida and Sayf. Tauhida was pouting while Sayf was keeping his usual emotionless face.
"Anything from the base?" Sayf asked when their laughter subsided. "Oh yes major. Our yearly vacation will start from 15th February, we are to report back to the base on that day so as to pass over the duty to the Chain team. And also on the same day, the general will be coming back from Portugal so we'll have to receive him from the airport before everyone starts his vacation" Imran explained at attention and Tauhida found that charming, she could think of her prince charming at that point of time.
"Ok then well done, I will be in my tent" Sayf said turning to walk back to his tent but he turned back.
"On a second thought, I'll be in your tent for squatting, let her stay in my tent for the night before we send her home tomorrow" he mentioned and walked into their tent. "Yes major"
"I think I will get married during this vacation" Zanna said immediately after Sayf disappeared into the tent. "I was also thinking about the same thing" Jabir also said making them to laugh, Tauhida just stared at them like the strangers they were to her.
" I'm sleepy" she pouted to Imran. "Stop pouting Tauhida and that is where you'll sleep for the night" he said pointing at Sayf's tent making her to giggle quietly.
"Good night ya Imran, I'm sorry I can't gist with you" she said as she started walking away.
"Dama I wasn't intending on getting a free headache while listening to your ranting, just go and sleep" he said and she eyed no one in particular. "As if, good night everyone" she shouted the latter which didn't remain unheard to Sayf who smiled at that.
"Good night" he whispered to no one particularly but he knew he wanted to say it to her.

The next morning, Tauhida woke up very early thinking that she was the first to wake up. But who was she kidding, they are soldiers and they probably were trained not to sleep at night. She prayed her subh namaz and laid down again thinking maybe she might fall asleep again but she didn't. She missed her phone and the TV, she couldn't believe she survived a whole day without the two.
She turned for the hundredth time on the mattress when she sighted a book which looked more like a dairy, she had wanted not opening it because she might read something she isn't supposed to but curiosity killed the cat.
She stretched her hand, reached for the book and took it. She sighed at how beautiful its cover was, it was blue in colour so it had to be beautiful. It was embedded with small white sparkly pearls or so she thought because when she looked carefully, it was a writing. "Sayf" was designed on the cover with pearls.
She went ahead and opened it as she awwed at the handwriting which was beautiful, more beautiful than hers which she calls the best of all, heck more beautiful than her father's, because he had a very beautiful handwriting, so clean and accurate. She cleared her mind and started reading from the first paragraph, that was when she confirmed that yes, it was a dairy.
"I wonder how people feel around their parents, I wonder if they ever think of loosing them, I wonder if they are ready to face the future without them. But it's not like I lost mine, they're still there. But I wish it's otherwise, the pain of knowing they're alive but not able to go and meet them is not one I wish to keep experiencing. I wish to get myself out of these shackles of life, go and embrace my parents. I wish to forgive them and move on. I wish to run into their arms and cry because they're the only ones I have to ever run back to, but I can't, the first step is the hardest which I still can't do"
Tauhida read as tears swell up her eyes, she was on the verge of tears because she was already putting herself in his shoes. She could never imagine a life without her parents, not even one of them but here he is living alone, not having the courage to run back to them.
"No, I am not alright, I tried to be but all in vain cause it's not working. They see me as a bore, an arrogant one, a snub but I'm neither. My lifestyle doesn't allow me to be free around them, those wounds deep inside my heart are what hinders me from being free outside my door. I'd rather not get used to other people the way I did to my parents, I'm really afraid of being dumped again, I don't think I will ever live with that pain in my heart"
"So selfish of me to have wanted her happiness. Her happiness made her beautiful, I wonder if I have the same amount of happiness, where will I be now. Probably in my mother's arms. But I do not ask for more, half of the happiness shown on her face will be enough for me to break those walls down. Nothing pains more than not having anyone to share your problems with, At least someone who'll walk me through the bright morning and also walk me through the dark side of the night, but not even a single person".
"Assalamu Alaiki, food is ready, come and eat" She heard a voice call so she cleared her soar voice and replied with a yes. Her eyes were already red with tears. Yes, she cried at his words.
She looked at the book one last time before returning it to its place. "Last last, the arrogant major is a struggling soul. And he has a girl in his life, so interesting" she said wiping her tears with the intention of continuing to read it later after her breakfast.
She stepped out and joined the others as they ate breakfast chitchatting, except Sayf of course. When they were done, she was going to go back to the tent and continue what she started when a voice stopped her.
"Get in the car Tauhida, I'll take you home now" Imran said making her to turn to his direction, he was already by the side of the car. Yes, she was happy that she'll leave that place but she really wanted to finish reading his diary.
And that was how Imran took her back home safely and her family were glad she was safe because they got the news of her disappearance the previous day.
