~°°~Be the star in somebody's night~°°~
Ahmadu Bello way, along city park, Wuse 2 Abuja, Nigeria. 2nd January, 2022. 6:49 am.
The room was perfectly clean except the bed on which she just woke up from her sleep on. The wind twirl through her window as the sun rays followed its lead, the beautiful flower which she kept on her window widened to the sudden sunlight and remained beautifully as she adjusted her position on the bed inhaling a deep breath.
She got off her bed with a taslim to her prophet Muhammad SAW and went directly into the bathroom. She took a soothing bath and brushed her teeth whitening them as though new.
She stepped out of the bathroom after wrapping a medium-sized towel around her body before she sat on the stool in front of her dressing mirror to dry and stretch her hair.
Just then she heard someone barge in and without doubt, knew who it was. She lifted her head and looked through the mirror as her sister settled on her bed.
"Knocking would have been okay if you didn't want to say the taslim" she said with sarcasm laced in her voice.
"Su knocking Manya, when did you start respecting people's privacy that I'll respect yours by knocking, we all know who the master of barging into people's room is. Just yesterday you, Tauhida Al-amin Borodo littered my whole room in my absence so drop it" her elder sister with two years said bringing out her phone from her pocket to type away.
She was wearing a pink blouse and blue pants and she also wrapped blue head supporting her long hair, not as long as Tauhida's though.
"Whareffer (whatever)" she said ignoring all the bad stuffs she said about her. All she did was be creative in her room but there was her sister, talking as if she turned the room upside down.
She continued with what she was doing until she finally finished. It had been long ever since she took care of her hair so she felt satisfied about what she did to it.
She stood up from the stool and headed to her wardrobe scanning for the right attire for the day.
She settled for her best attire.
She picked the olive green abaya because it was one of the lightest, she wouldn't want to stress herself since she wasn't going anywhere after all.
"Adda Rumaisa nikam I'm going downstairs for breakfast" she said trying to head to the door while she put on the black cap on her head. She had no idea where the Abaya's veil went to so she had to put that instead.
"It's not yet 7:30 so the others won't be there, we have to wait" she informed her. Tauhida being Tauhida jumped on the bed near her sister to look for trouble just like how she does everyday.
"Adda Ruma na, kinsan miye? (You know what?)" She asked trying to get her attention as she was still on her phone.
"Miye ne Tauhida (what is it Tauhida), stop disturbing me please" she said not taking her eyes off her phone. "Really, I'm trying my best to keep you company as my humble guest but you're ignoring me?" she said silently enough for her to hear her.
"Ok then tell me what's the problem" Rumaisa voiced finally dropping the phone aside. "Yauwa you know what?" Tauhida asked adjusting her position excitedly.
"If I had known would I have minded to listen to you?" Rumaisa chimed with a hiss. "Oh right sorry" Tauhida apologized with a chuckle.
"Now get this, I dreamt of a very handsome prince, he came in a car with his guards leading him into a mall. We met there and he decided to make me his wife at first sight so he took me along with him" she narrated with so much enthusiasm and Rumaisa couldn't help but hiss trice.
"I should have known you were going to say something stupid, does this even make sense to you?" Rumaisa said and outwardly rolled her eyeballs .
"Adda Ruma this is not stupid, I'm talking about my prince charming here" Tauhida voiced trying to look serious. "That's how you'd end up marrying Audu, abeg gerrarahiya (get out of here)" Rumaisa said lightly pushing her shoulder.
"Haaaaaaa!" she gasped placing her hand on her chest dramatically. "How could you? This is an automatically generated insult" she said feigning hurt.
"When will you leave for school again?" Rumaisa asked again. "Wow just wow" Tauhida clapped, dramatically again. "Adda Ruma you barged into my room, insulted my prince charming which is as good as insulting me and now you want to send me out of my own room?" She said still being her dramatic self, disbelief clearly in her voice.
Rumaisa shook her head not knowing what to do again. The only person that would always fit with Tauhida's nagging was Ya Imran, he was the only one who could teach her a lesson anytime she messes around with him, perks of having a soldier as your brother.
"And yes, I don't have lectures today so I'm gonna be home all day, and tomorrow too since it's Sunday" Tauhida explained to her.
"Hmm I see, let's go downstairs, it's 4 minutes to 7:30. Also remind me not to come back to this room again if that's how you'll keep saying unrealistic things" Rumaisa said standing up from the bed and heading to the door.
"Sure sure! Gani gani gani gani gani gani gani gani ....." Tauhida sang feeling energetic as always.
"Tauhida you're not still young fa, you're 20 for a reminder not 2" she complained for the umpteenth time in that week.
"Adda Ruma, how do you make happiness?" Tauhida asked holding her waist with both hands. "How will I know?" Rumaisa shrugged.
"By staying crazy of course, crazy people are happy people" she said acting all smart. "That's a crazy logic and you're crazy" Tauhida said shaking her head as if tired of her nagging already, well the morning just began.
"Exactly, that's why I'm happy while you......" She said laughing. "Kutt how dare you" and Rumaisa started running towards Tauhida as they head down the stairs.
Just then, Tauhida bumped into something or rather someone. Rumaisa also immediately halted on the spot noticing the person there while Tauhida raised her head to see the intruder.
"Ya Imran!!" Tauhida squealed loudly jumping on her brother's shoulder. Both of them had no idea he would be home that day. Rumaisa also joined as the three hugged the living daylight out of each other, so much for being siblings.
"You two get heavier everyday wallahi, you don't intend on breaking my shoulders do you?" Imran said smiling widely at no one in particular and they immediately parted when they heard him make that sentence, they laughed.
"Haba haba, as strong as our soldier brother is, I think you can carry 10 of our kinds at a time" Tauhida said also smiling at her brother. "That case is when I'm trying to commit suicide so no thank you" that made them all laugh again.
"Ya Imran when did you return from camp? you didn't even inform us" Rumaisa complained pouting. "Don't pout, you don't look good with it, and I wanted to surprise you hence hid the fact that I'm coming. Sadly, I will be here just for four days, we will posted again in four days" he said making Rumaisa to pout deeper while Tauhida joined her in pouting.
"Four days saikace rowa, warrisdis Dan Allah (Four days as if being stingy, what is this for Allah's sake)" Tauhida Said frowning deeply. "You should be thankful, we were given three days as the posting will be on the fourth day but our major asked us to stay until the fourth day so I'm leaving as early as 5:30 that morning" Imran explained to them.
"But that is just not fair, what if you had a family?" Rumaisa asked being naughty. Believe it or not, she also was as childish as Tauhida just that she knew when to stop being childish while Tauhida didn't.
"But I don't, do I?" He asked smiling. "Well it looks like you'll, do you see the way my brother is becoming more handsome these days, girls will be drooling " Tauhida said as a mischievous smile crept on her lips, Imran laughed at her statement.
"Just what makes you think I want a girl who will drool over me as a wife. I prefer someone who I will win by heart not looks" Imran said and Tauhida nodded her head in understanding.
"Chab, Nikam Idan ba prince charming ba Sai rijiya (if not prince charming then I prefer falling in a well)" Imran laughed at that while Rumaisa shook her head in disbelief. "Wallahi ya Imran you should knock some sense into this girl, she has no work except to talk about Prince charming shamelessly in front of her elder siblings" Rumaisa reported.
"Thank God you said siblings, you guys are my siblings not anyone else's. If I don't tell you about my prince charming who will I tell, neighbours?" Tauhida asked naughtily.
"You see Koh ya Imran, that was exactly the same reason I was chasing her around earlier, she just keeps criticising me as if I'm her mate" Rumaisa reported again.
"We talked about this Tauhida, you agreed on calling her Adda and also giving her the respect she deserves so stop criticising her" Imran warned sternly to which Tauhida nodded and muttered an 'ok'.
"Now let's go for breakfast, Maiyyi and Abba (their mother and father) might be there already waiting for us" Imran said to cheer up the conversation. "Aye aye soldier" Tauhida saluted as the three laughed walking away to the dining area down the stairs.
~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~
They reached the dining area chit chatting and truly, their parents were there. The two girls bent down respectively and greeted their parents.
"May Allah bless you all, I see you found them" their father whom they call Abba said to Imran as they all settled on the dining set chairs . "Fighting as always" Imran laughed as Abba and Maiyyi joined him.
"They never listen when I tell them not to fight, I wonder if they will still fight after our death" Maiyyi said smiling sadly. "Haba Maiyyi, don't talk about death now" Rumaisa chimed in.
"Exactly my thoughts, our Maiyyi Is not that old is she?" Tauhida also talked asking no one in particular. "She is not" both Rumaisa and Imran said in unison.
"But she'll be in a few years to come" Maiyyi said to her children. "That won't stop us from loving you will it?, Especially me" Abba said and everyone in the dining room awwned.
"This is the type of prince charming I want, caring and handsome not grumpy and rude" Tauhida voiced serving Imran food on his plate. "I'm telling you Abba, Tauhida wants to get married before anyone in this house. Prince charming is possessing her brain cells" Rumaisa said munching on her already served food.
"She'll have to wait because my dear sister, you're not getting married before me" Imran said taking a sip of his tea from the mug.
"You guys should allow my auta to rest. I was like her when I was her age, your dad became the prince charming of my life. And you Imran, you want to get married but I guess it is to this house that you will be married to, for Allah's sake you need a girl for marriage" Maiyyi said being serious on her last statement.
"He's still young ai, I married you at 32 and he is still 27, he will bring a girl soon" Abba supported his child "But nevertheless, whenever Tauhida brings forth a husband before you, then I assure you that you'll have to see her children first before yours" Abba laughed while they all joined.
"Well Ruma is close to that since she'll be gone in few months, but Tauhida...... I don't think so, she's busy dreaming about guys that don't exist" Imran laughed.
"They do exist! You should know that since you're one of them, a handsome soldier" Tauhida seethed filling her mouth with food as she said the last two words which made everyone to laugh.
"Believe me Tauhida, our brother is the only handsome soldier in Naija" Rumaisa started. What she said wasn't entirely false.
"And by the looks of it, someone will choke very soon" Rumaisa said clearly referring to Tauhida. "You mean me Adda Ruma?" Tauhida asked pointing at herself. "I didn't even call your name Tauhida" she laughed making Tauhida gasp while all the others laughed at her childishness.
