~°°~Being with each other is mending their hearts~°°~

Gwarinpa, Abuja, Nigeria. 6th March, 2022. 7:56am ~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~ It is said that some things never change but it seemed like everything changed in Tauhida's life. Every minute of her life seemed new, not like the ones she used to live. It was like she was just born into the world.

Everything was gradually making sense again, her life which turned against her was gradually turning to face her once again. The four days she had spent with someone who was a stranger to her gave her a hope on what she didn't know.

He knew just how to make her forget everything even if it was for a split second. She weirdly looked forward to their conversations everyday because he found his way to comfort her in just four days, she wouldn't wish for more.

Sitting in her room reading a book, Tauhida received a conference call from her squad.

"Hey there!!" Humaira said through the phone. "We wanted to inform you so you prepare something nice for us" She added. "We are on our way insha Allah" Xeexee squealed making them to laugh while Tauhida smiled and she inhaled deeply enough to their hearing.

"we'll take that as an okay, buh bye" They said before finally disconnecting the call.

Tauhida's squad tend to give her such calls ever since she got married. They knew she wouldn't be able to reply them as before but also knew she loved the conversations they have whenever they have those conference calls.

Just after Tauhida dropped her phone back on the table, she heard a knock before the door jeered open, it was Sayf.

He moved forward into the room searching for only God knows what with his eyes, going corner by corner. Tauhida kept the confused face while she looked at the person who was acting as if he owned the room. From what she knew, nothing of his was in the room.

She stood up and picked her phone before moving to where he was, she touched him by the shoulder making him to turn before showing him the screen. "What may I ask, are you looking for?" It read.

"Never mind what I'm looking for, I just know it's somewhere here" Sayf replied and continued his searching.

Tauhida was curious to know what he was looking for so she didn't give up. "Just tell me, I might know where it is" Tauhida typed. "Yeah right, you are the only one who knows exactly where it might be. I'm looking for that" Sayf replied "what?" Tauhida lipped. "That" Sayf said again, she threw the confused look once again but didn't type nor lip anything .

"Your smile" Sayf added making Tauhida to scoff before smiling "Yes yes yes, there it is" Sayf added making Tauhida's smile to turn into a blush.

She quickly turned and sat back on her bed ignoring him. Sayf followed her and laid on the bed, his head on her laps.

"Hey get your head off me, they're heavy" Tauhida typed. "Have mercy, I'm kinda tired" Sayf said before he closed his eyes shut, because he didn't want her to type anything again. From the few days Tauhida had lived with Sayf, she understood him to be a very stubborn somebody, more stubborn than she ever was.

"Do you hear that?" Sayf asked after minutes of silence, Tauhida thought he was asleep. He opened his eyes to meet Tauhida's questioned look before adding "The pattern of your heart beat" Sayf said.

"Stop behaving like a vampire, I never heard of anyone who could actually hear other people's heart beats without a stethoscope" Tauhida typed.

"I'm after all Tauhida's prince charming so you don't expect me to be like those normal people out there" Tauhida decided to ignore that and keep quiet. Sayf also didn't say anything afterwards as they maintained the silence.

"How have you been doing?" Sayf finally asked. The main reason he came that morning was to ask about how she was doing but he was afraid of doing so because he knew she would lie about it.

"I'm fine" Tauhida typed just exactly what Sayf thought she would reply with. He sighed deeply before saying "I'm fine too, thanks for asking" Sayf made up his mind even before they got married that he would make her happier than she ever was, and he would make her to learn to love him back. It sounded like a load shit of work but he promised to spare no effort in seeing that it became possible.

"Help me count" Sayf said after a while, he liked the silence because it enabled their hearts to converse with each other but he also knew it makes Tauhida to remember things she didn't want to so he decided to make them count to a thousand to keep Tauhida busy.

"1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,..........." Sayf counted loudly while Tauhida murmured without a sound being heard. She knew what he was trying to do so she obliged, mainly because she also didn't want to be going back to the awful images she got to see. Luckily for her, they didn't hunt her dreams whenever she's sleeping.

Minutes of counting, the ringing of Sayf's phone interrupted. He took his head off Tauhida's lap and sat straight before picking up the call. "Hello, Morning sir" Sayf greeted, Tauhida knew that wasn't a good sign for her. "Sure sir, yes sir. Long live democracy" Sayf said before disconnecting the call.

Sayf sighed before looking up to Tauhida whose eyes were on him throughout the phone call. He didn't say anything but Tauhida knew what he would say so she immediately started shedding silent tears.

Sayf shifted his hands to her face and cleaned the tears on it as more rolled over the cleaned spot. "Please, don't cry" He pleaded but she wouldn't listen.

No sane person would be fine after knowing someone dear to them will go some place dangerous. She might as well try to calm down if it was just him but it turned out the whole team will go, so Imran was going too.

"Where will you go?" Tauhida typed. "Niger, I will just spend a day or two" Sayf replied. "I thought you are on vacation?" Tauhida typed. "We get to go on emergencies even during vacation, don't worry yourself and await my return okay?" Sayf replied but Tauhida shook her head, she wasn't convinced with what he said.

Sayf sighed again looking through his lexicon so he will find something to say which could convince her.

"Roohiie listen, look in my eyes" Sayf said holding her carefully by the shoulder and she moved her eyeballs to look directly into his.

"If I ever die, then it will be by your side insha Allah" Sayf said. Even though it sounded itchy but she saw that he meant it, his eyes said it all. "Now promise you won't worry too much until I come back" Sayf added. Tauhida nodded.

"Alhamdulillah" Sayf said before they both stood on their feet, Sayf held her hand into his as she cleaned her tears up before they exited the room.

They stopped by briefly to inform Ruha and Malika before she escorted him to his car.

Finally saying the last farewell sentence, he kissed Tauhida on her forehead before driving out of the compound in his car. It was the first time he passed that type of gesture to her, he would hold her hands and hug her but never kissed her whether on the forehead or cheeks. Tauhida found herself in tears once again as she managed herself back into the house. ~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~ 1:11pm.

"Adda Tauhida, you have guests" Amani informed Tauhida after coming into her room. She was still on her prayer mat since after her zuhr prayer because she needed to ask her lord to protect her brother and husband.

Tauhida nodded and gestured her to bring them inside and she did just as she was shown.

Her squad came in shortly after that and waited until she completed her prayers. Tauhida hugged each one of them before she sat with them on the bed and then they started conversing on things they knew would cheer them up.

Tauhida wanted to resume school that week because it turned out she was missing a lot. Gladly, she had someone else to partner up with her on that. Humaira too haven't resumed school since after the incident so they both needed to find a way to catch up before exams season.

Humaira, Xeexee and Husnerh made sure to divert Tauhida's attention from worrying about anything. They did a good job at doing that and also cheering her up, something she could do only in his presence.

The three left way after asr prayer by 5:54pm, they gave Tauhida some gifts which included shoes, watches and accessories. They claimed that they haven't given her any wedding gift and thus gave the gifts to her to compensate for that.

Tauhida didn't eat lunch because she had no appetite. She decided to join and help in preparing dinner after her squad left, it was definitely better than sitting idly with nothing to do.

Even though she found out the maids were almost done with everything, she helped nevertheless after much persistence.

She engaged herself with eating, praying and reading the holy book throughout the night. When it was time to force herself to sleep, she played the recitation of surah baqarah to help her sleep.

Normally, it was Sayf who recited it himself until she falls fast asleep before he leaves for his room to sleep, but that day among the days they've been married was different.

It took long enough before she was able to fall asleep, with Sayf being the last person on her mind.

Tauhida believed in love, but was not able to embrace it. Sayf believed in love but was not able to share it. They both believed in love and all they needed was for love to believe in them, and when that happens they will be just fine.
