~°°~Don't let your past kill the future~°°~

Nigerian police divisional headquarters, Jabi, Abuja, Nigeria. 17th March, 2022. 11:52am ~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~

Iman, the one person who made Sayf to kill his future for a moment. She blocked everything good in his life and killed his happiness completely, in the most painful way at that.

Sayf and Tauhida sat in a room a bit similar to the one they talked with Marwan in, waiting for Iman to be brought in.

"Who are we going to meet?" Tauhida asked, she couldn't help it but ask. "The one person you should know about, the one who conspired with Marwan to kidnap you" Sayf replied. "My first love" He added. Even though it hurt Tauhida to hear that, she didn't allow it to bother her at all. What mattered was the fact that what she'd hear might not be a good one to her.

Tauhida just decided to nod her head and anticipate for the arrival of her husband's first love and it didn't take long before Iman was dragged into the room by a police woman.

"You have just ten minutes to say whatever you want to say, not more than that" The woman said unknowing to her that if he wanted, he'll spend hours talking to Iman and no one would say a word.

After all, he was the only major who exalted in his duties and was respected by all. Who with one statement his fate will be changed and it will bring him back to office rather than staying in camps and going on dangerous operations.

The police woman excused them afterwards and closed the door behind her.

"Are you here to make fun of me handsome?" Iman asked, how could she be so annoying with just a sentence. "Watch it Iman" Sayf warned but it didn't affect her one bit. She was the only person who had never been afraid of Sayf because she believed the love he had for her wouldn't let him hurt her.

"I'm not here to listen to your rantings, just wanted to check out how miserably you handled your life. You still do not realise what you've caused upon yourself but you will when you get what you actually deserve" Sayf blurted.

"I know you can't handle a solo Sayf, you need me so you won't let anything happen to me" Iman said, she was hellbent confident about something that doesn't even exist.

"That's where you're right Iman, but guess what, you're not even in the list of people I'll ever consider playing the band with. But her...." Sayf started as he slid Tauhida's hand into his "My wife, someone infinity times better than you in all aspects. She'll be with me and not choose me over anything like you did, she'll love me more than you ever did to me just like I do to her and guess what bilhaq I hate you now with every fibre and organ in me" Sayf completed, Iman was already fuming with an unseen anger.

"You disgust me Iman, everything about you does. But yes, I'll always find your life interesting because it is very entertaining to watch someone's life getting ruined just like you enjoyed watching yourself ruin my life. It is what you caused yourself so deal with it and enjoy the prison life" Sayf said before standing up on his feet, Tauhida's hand was still in his as they walked out of the room together.

They left Iman behind with a world full of agony and regret, she never realised how big she had messed up until that one day and she couldn't point out exactly why.

Sayf and Tauhida went back home without a word exchanged even though they held each other throughout the ride. They went into their rooms and freshened up the stress they carried with them especially Sayf who didn't get to take a bath for days.

After a while, Sayf decided to go to Tauhida's room to complete what they started initially. He needed to tell her everything.

He found Tauhida wrapped in a bath robe with a wet hair also wrapped in a medium sized towel to soak the water.

"Masha Allah, alhamdulillah and subhanallah" Sayf muttered and that was only when Tauhida noticed his presence in the room. "This is called trespassing" Tauhida rolled her eyes before sitting on the stool by her mirror stand.

"I can't trespass in my own wife's property" Sayf said taking a seat on the bed there. "Whatever" Tauhida said and continued with what she was doing even though his presence was making her not to do many of the things she should be doing.

"Let's talk Roohiie, come sit" Sayf said making Tauhida to move to where he sat down, she laid on the bed and placed her wet head on his lap facing the other side of the room.

"What are you curious about?" Sayf asked, he knew the answer but wanted to hear it from her. "Iman, the beautiful mysterious girl in your life" Tauhida replied. "You think?" Sayf asked almost scoffing but stopped himself from doing that.

"Yes she is beautiful. I'm sure she's the lady you talked about in your diary" Tauhida replied. "What, no!!!" Sayf quickly said. "No?" Tauhida asked. "Yes no, that was you I was talking about and how on earth did you read my diary when you've never been to my room?" Sayf replied and asked at the same time.

"I read it the very first time we met, at the camp. You know, when you lent me your tent" Tauhida replied. "That wasn't actually the first time I met you, I met you way before that but that's a story for another day and also we'll sit and read everything in my diary again after I tell you about the first time I saw you" Sayf said.

"Okay then" Tauhida shrugged. "Now, Iman" Sayf started bringing back the serious atmosphere.

"We first met when I was promoted to captain which was 5 years ago. Her father was the general as of then so she was present when I was promoted. I found her interesting and somehow, we managed to pull off the friend zone. After that, we go out together, shopped together. I even helped her play guys and when she's ready to dump them, I'll gladly act as her boyfriend as the fool I was. We were the best of friends in just a matter of two months. It was after those two months I guess when the unfortunate event of her father's death happened so she went back to her uncle's house to live with them. She became a totally different person even though she was still cheerful but she totally stopped meeting any guy nor trusting them, it was just me and always had been me. It took us 3 years, 3 good years to confess the love we had for each other after we have known almost everything about each other including our families and relatives.

"That was when Iman showed me that she wasn't who I thought she was. About two months in our relationship, Iman showed up one day at my house crying her heart out. She didn't say anything to anyone and kept crying while holding a paper. I was absent for the moment and when I came back, I found her in the parlour with my parents. That was the first and last day my father slapped me, right on the face, the right side if I didn't forget because he was a lefty.

It was then I got to know that Iman brought a report to them that she was pregnant and I was the reason behind it. It got me angry so much that I got into a fight with my parents and even her because when I couldn't contain the anger, I slapped her until she was on the floor. The slap I did to her earned me my second slap in my entire life, but that time it was from Mami. She was angry because she thought I maltreated the mother of my child. And that was it, my father declared I was no more his son for whatever reason and he chased me out of his house for something I never did. That day, I closed my heart for whatever good that might come to me, I never let anyone in again, I forgot how to forgive and also how to smile because I got betrayed by the only woman I've ever loved in my life" Sayf narrated.

He paused a bit to know if Tauhida had a comment but she was eager on hearing the end of it so she remained silent.

"It was after I met you and my father's death that I reconciled with my mother and family. But then everything about the family was already out of place that my own stepmother attempted killing my father, even though she wasn't successful but the pain struck his heart and he died of a cardiac arrest.

Mami also narrated to me how they got to know about iman's facade. Ever since she came to this house, my father asked her to live with us but she kept insisting on getting money for their welfare. It took my mother two months to understand that she was faking the pregnancy so she did something that made Iman to shout out to everyone that she lied about it just to get money. She thought they would give her enough money thinking she'll cater for their grandchild but no one did so and she got tired of being confined to a room all in the name of care.

My parents couldn't do anything because regret was killing them right inside that they let her get away without saying a word to her. That was when they started searching for ways to find me but as they were late, I was too far from where they could find me. I lived for two years with no purpose or destination all because of being betrayed by the one person I loved, that too because of money" Sayf completed, it was really great to finally say it all out to Tauhida. Now he didn't have anything he was hiding from her again and it was a relief.

Tauhida didn't comment about what he said but rather "Pain makes us stronger and love keeps us together, everything else doesn't really matter. I love you Sayf" Tauhida said not knowing that statement meant a lot to Sayf. He wanted her to say something that will assure him of not being a reason for her agony and she did.

He held her face up straight with two of his hands before moving his lips to hers and taking it into a deep passionate kiss which she reciprocated. It was that kiss that confirmed to both of them that they cannot live without each other no matter how hard they tried.

Breaking the kiss, Sayf completed the promise with words of seal "I love you too Roohiie".
