"So we're not going to talk at all about where you've been all night? I've been waiting for you, you know that?"
I regretted the moment I got out of the shower. Luna stood opposite the door, leaning against the wall, her arms folded across her chest.
"What do you want me to say?" I slipped past her with a towel on my head.
"I don't know, maybe the truth?" She followed me into the living room.
"I met an old friend." I shrugged my shoulders.
"Eris." She said disappointedly. "You don't have any other friends besides me."
"Ouch?" I frowned at her.
"It is not my fault." She put her hands in a defensive gesture and walked over to me as I sat down on the couch. She slowly sat down next to me and rested her head on my legs while looking at me. "You know I love you, but it's just the way it is."
"I got into a little trouble, that's all."
That is, if almost visiting heaven counts as a small problem.
"Normally I would have believed it if it wasn't for you."
This is starting to be an uncomfortable conversation, but only for me. "And will you tell me what Theo was doing here?" She immediately looked somewhere other than at me, and I knew I had won this time.
"I don't know where he came from." She looked at me innocently. "It's a good thing he was here, isn't it? He saved us."
"That still doesn't explain why he was here."
Luna mumbled something under her breath, but she couldn't be understood at all.
"Can you speak louder?"
"He came to tell me that he still... ."
"Don't even dare to finish that sentence." I interrupted her. "What the hell Luna? He broke your heart."
"I know, but..." She stopped and started playing with her fingers. "I love him, Eris."
"I can buy you a dog if you want someone to love."
"Ha-ha-ha." She sat down and stayed next to me. "Eris I..." She didn't finish again.
"Luna, why do you have remorse and guilt written all over your face? What have you done?" I frowned at her.
She muttered something under her breath again.
"Luna." I warned her.
"I gave him another chance."
"Luna!" I screamed. "You told me you would never go back to him."
"Look, you can't blame me. I really love him. You don't know what it's like."
Ouch. That hurt a little.
"And neither do you. He's your first boyfriend and everything else, you don't know what you're feeling."
"Well about that..." She laughed nervously.
"Luna he is your first isn't he?" I got my answer just by looking at her face. "Oh my god, how many?"
"Three or four." She looked at her hands.
"How did you..."
"I was experimenting at the time. I got out of the assassin organization and wanted to try everything."
"I left as well and look at me. Do I look like I'm even thinking about guys?"
"But the difference is that you can't flirt."
Ouch, again.
"I do!" I defended myself, even though it's not really true.
"Okay, quick question. A man sits down next to you at the bar and offers to buy you a drink, what do you do?"
"I'll break the glass on his head." I answered her immediately, without thinking and regretted it in that second.
"You see my point?"
"Fine." I said frustrated. "You can do whatever you want, but if he breaks your heart again, I'll be the one to tell you, I told you so."
She rolled her eyes before answering me. "He won't do it again."
"We will see."
"If you go threatening him, he might do it." She reached for the TV remote and turned it on. "And I wanted to ask what Charles was even doing here. We didn't have time to talk about it." She turned on the movie but stopped it to give me her full attention.
"I don't know." I told the truth. "Who knows what goes on in the heads of people like him and why they do what they do."
"So the conversation was that bad."
"A little bit."
"Do you want to talk about it?" She bumped into me gently with her shoulder and gave me a reassuring smile.
Do I want to tell her that the moment I saw him I wanted to kill him, but also to hug him? Do I want to tell her that the whole time I had a stone in my throat, through which I could barely speak? That I started to feel something for the first time in years?
"No, that's okay." I gave her a fake smile. "Let's go see something. I'm not in the mood to do anything today."
"Did you see..." She stopped. "Of course you haven't seen it. It's called Harry Potter and they are one of the best movies ever made."
"They are? So there's more than one movie?" I raised an eyebrow.
"They're not that long."
You never know you've made the biggest mistake until the consequences come.

"Luna?" I whispered so as not to wake her up completely. But the thing is that she didn't wake up at all. I wanted to ask her if she was planning to sleep on the couch today.
It was a little after two in the morning when I turned off the TV and brought her a blanket. I threw it over her and put a pillow under her head so she wouldn't wake up all broken in the morning.
I headed to the kitchen for water, but somehow found myself on the roof of Luna's apartment, leaning against the edge and looking up at the night sky.
I didn't care if I was cold. I guess I just wanted to be alone for a while. Breathe. I feel like I'm suffocating everywhere lately. I can't get rid of it.
It's like someone is holding a cloth over my mouth and nose, it's impossible to breathe. Like someone was squeezing my lungs, before they got any oxygen.
And there is a stone in my throat that I try to swallow and talk to despite it.
I don't know what's happening to me.
Everything was easier while I was with the white snakes. I received orders and carried them out. No questions or emotions. I just did what was necessary and it was done.
And now?
Now there is no one to tell me what to do and I am lost. I'm slowly starting to realize it.
I know what they got me into was not good. But my life had some meaning.
I can't find it now. How do I even begin? Luna adapted quickly, but she and I are different.
And how am I even supposed to adapt when Nyx is still part of my life? So many problems and I have no solutions.
To make matters worse, I signed an agreement with the devil, a.k.a Killian. I have no problem finding someone he is looking for. It will be easy. But the thing is that I should have left and he prevented me from doing so.
And the psychopath who drove us and the car into the water knows where Luna lives. Plus, she and Theo are a thing again. They might hurt her, and that's the last thing I want.
If only I could talk to someone. Without regretting saying it.
Looking at the sky, my gaze fell on the bandana, on my hand. "You should have been here." I whispered. "Everything would be different. I wish you were here."
And here it was again. A stone in my throat that I couldn't swallow.
"Was I dreaming or did I see you get out of a cab? What the hell happened to your car?"
Tired and slightly devastated, I finally got back to the villa, where Sebastian immediately welcomed me with a "warm" smile.
"Hard night." I waved my hand at it.
"Obviously." He laughed. "Simon is in the study. He's been waiting there for a minute."
"And where are the others?" I looked around and didn't see anyone anywhere.
"Finn left about half an hour ago. Kai ran into some trouble at a business in town and Theo's been locked up in the gym for a few hours now."
"Good to know." I walked past him and patted him on the shoulder for a job well done. The villa is standing, so that's a good sign.
"I'm glad you finally showed up. I thought I'd be eaten by that dog of yours before you came back." Simon welcomed me.
"Good morning to you too." I walked past him and sat down at the table.
"You look terrible."
This is nothing new. I can only imagine what I look like.
My white shirt is all crumpled and I got rid of my jacket yesterday when I drowned my car. I tried combing my hair with my hands, but it didn't look the best either.
"To what do I owe your visit?" I went straight to the point.
I need a cold shower and at least half an hour of peace.
"Ever since you told me about Abraham, I became interested in him. I tried to find him, but it's like he disappeared off the face of the earth."
"Maybe that's because he's locked up down at my place." I leaned back in my chair and crossed my arms over my chest.
"What?" He looked at me in surprise.
"He's just a henchman. I'm trying to find out who he works for. He hasn't said anything yet."
"So what are you planning now?"
"I hired a white snake." I said proudly.
Since I can't call her because my cell phone is at the bottom of the harbor with my car, the only way I can get through to her is to go see her in person.
But before I stop there, I need to talk to Theo. I still don't know why he was with them yesterday.
"A white snake? Are you crazy? Didn't you listen to what I told you?"
"She can do her job." I acknowledged.
"Oh yeah, and she'll kill you in the process." He snorted. "Please tell me she's not the one from the bar." I didn't even have to answer for him to continue. "You do realize what she's doing here, don't you? It didn't occur to you that she's here to kill you?"
"If she wanted to do that, I'd be dead a long time ago." Finn too.
"Did she cast a spell on you? She winked with those beautiful eyes of hers and you suddenly lost your mind? What's wrong with you?"
"What the hell do you mean?" I frowned. "You think I have something for her? You're crazy. She works for me because I hired her. There's no other reason. And I don't have anything for her. I don't need to be in more trouble than I am." I explained to him, but I don't think he understood.
It's funny. Does he really think I have a thing for her? She is unbearable. The only reason why I'm connected to her in any way is because I need her to work for me one more time. Then she can go anywhere she want. It won't be my concern anymore.
"Do you really think it's a good idea to work with her?"
No. "Yes."
"Fine." He took a deep breath. "I respect your decision and I will support you."
"I don't need it, but thanks."
"Of course."
"Is there anything else? There are other things I need to take care of." Such as a shower.
"No." He stood up and buttoned his jacket. "I'll call later." He didn't need my help leaving.
Sebastian stopped me on my way to the room, but I told him to save it for later. I need at least half an hour to feel human again.
