"Hey you!" I yelled at one of Killian's brothers and walked over to him.
"I have a name, you know that?"
"Of course I know." I know he has a name. But what is that name, that is the question. Killian, Finn, Kai and the fourth one. What is the name of the fourth one standing in front of me right now? I do not have the slightest idea. "Have you seen Killian?"
"I think I saw him go to his room, but it's too early for him to go to bed, so I'd be careful when you open the door so you don't see anything you don't want to see. But if you do want to see something, my room is always unlocked." He winked at me and I was puking inside.
"Not even in your dreams." I shuddered in disgust as if a chill ran down my spine and started walking towards the rooms. One of them must be Killian's.
I walked past my room. Since Kai isn't at the villa, because he had to work outside of town, I can't catch him doing anything. I don't even need to check Finn's room, which is across from me, since I know it's his.
The fourth brother is somewhere other than in his room, so I won't catch him either. That means nothing can go wrong.
I went from door to door and did not forget to knock. I really don't want to catch him doing something.
We all know what this "something" means.
After knocking and hearing no voices, I peeked in and shouted his name.
"Here!" I finally heard him and entered the room.
As I headed towards the next door behind which his voice came from, I didn't forget to look around his room.
His big bed looked comfortable and I had the greatest desire to jump on it and spread out on it.
To my surprise, he had a small library and even a small plant. At the foot of the bed was a small bed that belonged to Odin.
A small lamp on the bedside table was the only light there was in the room, apart from the one coming from under the door.
I carefully opened the door and looked inside. A beautiful dark bathroom appeared before me.
Everything was shiny and it didn't look like there was even a speck of dust.
My gaze fell on Killian kneeling in front of the tub and Odin standing in it.
"I was planning on giving him a bath, do you want to help?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Of course." I smiled and walked over to them. I petted Odin and knelt on the ground.
"Did you need something or were you just looking for him?" He nodded his head at Odin.
"No. I mean, yes." I corrected myself.
"So which one is it?" He laughed at me.
"I came to ask about the woman. Val." I specified.
I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me. I have a feeling inside that I can't even explain properly, but it annoys me. I still don't know who she is.
"What about her?" He frowned.
"They threatened her too, so it would probably be best if she came and was safe here, don't you think?"
"I think she'd be in more danger here. Don't worry, I've made sure she's safe. I've sent another dozen guys after her to keep an eye on her. She must text or call me every hour and call if she doesn't like something. She'll be safe." As he spoke, he turned on the shower and aimed it at Odin, who didn't mind at all.
"Are you sure? Shouldn't she come here after all?" What's wrong with me? Why am I even asking this? Is it because I want to know who she is?
"Yes I am." He laughed. "I won't let anything happen to her."
That hurt for some reason.
After a moment he turned off the shower and asked me to hand him the shampoo I had next to me so he could use it on Odin.
At the first touch, the shampoo started foaming and we both started washing him.
"Is Val your girlfriend?" I blurted out of nowhere and mentally slapped myself.
"My what?" Killian wondered. "No." He started laughing.
Why is he laughing?
"She's my...she's my sister." He quieted his laughter, but he didn't stop smiling.
Sorry, what?
"Sister?" I looked at him in surprise. "You told me you didn't have any other siblings."
"No, I told you I didn't have any other siblings you needed to know about. You didn't need to know about her." He shrugged.
"Wait, does Luna know about her?" Because if she knew, she would've told me, right?
"No one knows about her, we're trying to keep her as far away from this as possible. Theo is under orders not to tell anyone, so I don't think she knows."
"Then why did you tell me?"
"And why did you tell me about your family? It looks like Luna doesn't know about that either."
When did he talk to Luna? And since when are the two of them friends?
"I don't know." I looked at Odin just so I wouldn't have to look at him and meet his gaze.
"You'd like her. You'd definitely get along. You're quite similar. She's got crazy ideas too."
"My ideas are not crazy." I defended myself.
Although, maybe some crazy ones have formed in my head throughout my life, and maybe I managed to fill some.
"Whatever you say." He laughed and I felt chills all over my body. I stopped myself from shaking.
What is happening to me?
"And you're done." He said after washing the shampoo off of him.
Odin didn't move the entire time. I remember our dog had a problem with water. Looks like Odin is different in this.
"We should dry him off." When I said that, we started to get up at the same time and it was too late when we realized how close we were suddenly standing.
If there was a barrier around our bodies, we would break it for each other right now.
I swear I could hear his heartbeat at the moment.
His chest was rising rapidly, as was mine.
I couldn't take my eyes off him and it looked like I wasn't the only one.
All I wanted to do right now was touch him. Would he push me away? Would he tell me not to touch him? Would he let me touch him? And would I let him touch me?
His gaze looked right into my soul. He could see everything and I wouldn't even object. I lost myself in his eyes. And I didn't care if I never got out of them.
I swallowed hard when I noticed that we were getting closer.
I felt his breath on my face and that's when my heart felt like I was running a marathon.
Our lips were millimeters apart, and god, how I wanted him to kiss me.
But before our lips touched, drops of water fell on us, snapping us out of the moment.
Odin shook off the excess water, alerting us to his presence.
I immediately took a few steps back and regained my composure.
What did I even think I was doing?
Still slightly surprised, I looked at Eris, with whom we were separated by millimeters a few seconds ago.
Did that really happen?
"I...." She spoke first. "I'll let you finish it." She pointed at Odin. "And...and then...I just..." She didn't finish. She started walking towards the door and was out of it faster than I could even register what was happening.
I heard her slam the door to my room, and that meant she was gone.
Come to your senses Killian. I said to myself, but I couldn't move.
What the hell happened?
*****
I tossed and turned in bed most of the night. It was impossible for me to sleep.
When I saw it was something after four in the morning on my watch, I put on sweatpants and went to the office.
I only lit a small lamp on the table and another one next to the window. A big light would only disturb me.
But I would have to actually do something to get disturbed.
I sat over my laptop and documents, but I didn't touch anything.
My head was somewhere else.
I let out a frustrated breath and threw the pen I was holding onto the table. I pushed myself from the table a little bit.
I tilted my head sharply until I touched the back of the chair and closed my eyes. I ran my hand over my face until I ran my fingers through my hair.
What is happening to me? Why can't I focus on anything? Neither for work nor for sleep. This has never happened to me.
I took a deep breath and exhaled heavily. There's only one way out of this, and I need someone to tell me what it is.
I reached for my phone and went to my contacts. I stopped at her name and dialed the number. It rang a few times before she finally picked up.
"Killian?" She said in a sleepy voice. "It's four in the morning, is everything alright?" I could hear the worry in her voice.
"Sorry Val, I just needed to talk to someone."
"No, it's okay. Give me a second." I heard movement on the other end of the line and her muffled voice. She came back to me in a few seconds. "So what's going on?" She said a little louder.
"I don't know." I breathed heavily. "I don't know what's happening to me."
"That would be the first time. You're the one who has the answer to everything." She laughed.
"Not this time. I can't sleep or work. I don't know where my head is." It will be three days already. I couldn't sleep peacefully not knowing what happened to Eris. But now that she's here, I can't sleep either.
"Not to brag about my wisdom, but I'm sure your head is right on your neck."
"You know what I mean."
"I know." I heard her laugh again. "I think I know perfectly well what you mean." She could be heard smiling. "Is your head with a certain person? A woman perhaps?"
"I....I don't know." I exhaled helplessly.
"It must be really bad when you seek help from a little sister. If you want help from me, I need words from you other than I don't know. Can you arrange it?"
"It's complicated."
"Nothing is complicated unless we make it complicated. You already woke me up, so make it worth it."
I told her how we met. How she threatened Finn. Our first agreement, and also the second. I suggested that she had a difficult past. I didn't forget to mention her injury and my help, how I didn't hesitate, and I didn't even know why. How she helped me after the fight with Finn. And finally I mentioned that we almost kissed.
She didn't say anything the whole time I was talking. I was starting to worry that she might have fallen asleep, but she finally spoke.
"This sounds more interesting than those soap operas on TV." She laughed.
"Thanks, that really helped." I rolled my eyes.
"Come on Killian. Don't tell me you don't know what's going on. It's obvious. You like her."
"What? No." I frowned. "I don't like her. I think. Shit." I grabbed my head. "I don't know what to do."
"You want my advice? Be yourself. If something happens, it happens. If not, then no. Her loss. It's clear you like her, so go for it. What do you have to lose?" Myself. "You, of all people, deserve to be happy. After all you've sacrificed for us, you deserve it. If not with her, then with someone else."
"Everything was easier when she wasn't in my life. Life was a lot easier."
"Life is always easy, we make it difficult for ourselves."
"When did you eat all the wisdom in the world?"
"A few years back, why do you ask?" She laughed. "But really, Killian. If you think you'll never be happy, you never will be. I know you don't like taking chances, but maybe this time, try it. Just once."
"And if it doesn't work out?"
"Then you call me again and I'll be glad to have you talk to me. Maybe I'll come and bake something to make you feel better."
"One of your famous cakes?" I smiled.
"Only for you."
"Thank you, Val. For everything."
"Of course. I'm your favorite sibling, after all. I have to keep that position before someone else tries to take it from me." She laughed.
"That will never happen, I assure you. I'm sorry I woke you up."
"I'm not. It was nice to hear your voice again. Take care and be careful. Good night big brother."
"Night, Val." I hung up and breathed a sigh of relief.
All right. I can handle it. Just be yourself.
It can't be that hard after all.

Val is a good sister.
Hope you enjoyed. <3
