I can't believe it actually worked. I was slightly surprised to see Luna and Lyssa walk out of the building with another woman they were holding.

But I didn't say it out loud.

I noticed that the other woman had some silver cloth wrapped around where Lyssa had the chip.

"It's blocking the signal from her chip." Lyssa said as she noticed my confused expression.

"Why not just cut it out?" Lyssa froze at my question.

"We might need it." Luna spoke.

In that case, it's good that the walls in the basement are thick enough to block every little signal.

"We should go, maybe she didn't come alone." Lyssa started walking with Luna to the car.

"I didn't see anyone here." I assured her.

"That's the point. They're not that easy to see. Let's get out of here."

They both loaded her into the car and we sat down without saying a word. I was in the passenger seat and Luna was driving.

In the mirror I noticed Lyssa, lost in her thoughts.

She is not the only one.

I didn't like this plan and I never will.

We locked the woman under my villa and Luna made sure she was properly tied up so she wouldn't escape.

I ran into Lyssa as she headed to her room. "Do you have a minute?" I stopped her.

"Yeah sure. What's up?" She looked a bit more tired again, but I could see she was trying to hide it. There is something different about her. And I don't know why, but I don't like it.

"How are you?"

"Fine." She shrugged. "We got Nyx. Now it's just about getting something out of her or using her as bait. Either way, it's the first step of many."

"If you are feeling well, I wanted to ask if you would like to go somewhere with me tomorrow." As soon as I finished I realized that it sounded like I was asking her out.

"Like a da..."

"No." I interrupted her. "That sounded wrong. I need to go to Nashville tomorrow for a meeting, and since I didn't have time to find another escort, I thought you would go."

"What type of meeting?" She frowned.

"It's not exactly a meeting, but I need to get a few people on my side, and what better way than with a woman by my side."

"Is it a formal event? Dresses and suits? Expensive jewelry and the overall stench of money?" She raised an eyebrow and I just nodded. "I don't like dresses."

"It's just for a few hours."

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"I spent the whole day with you while I was supposed to find a suitable escort, you don't have much of a choice." That's a lie. I have numbers in my cell phone for such occasions. Not that I would ever use them.

I have never needed a woman by my side at an event until now. The truth is, that I actually want her there.

"I don't have a dress." She crossed her arms over her breasts.

"My sister has a million of them here."

"I don't know how to dance."

"I don't plan on dancing." I argued with her.

"There may be people out there who will want to kill me."

"That makes two of us." I smiled. "We can argue here for another hour or two, but we both know now that I'd win. You also need sleep, so if I were you, I'd just accept that you are coming with me tomorrow and go to sleep. It's easy."

"With you?" She snorted. "Nothing is easy with you." She turned on her heel and continued on her way to her room.

"Be ready at three!" I shouted after her and only saw her show me her middle finger.

At least I know she heard me.

*****

I was waiting for her at exactly three in front of the villa, leaning against the car and watching the front door. I checked my watch a few times before the door finally opened and Lyssa walked out.

She was wearing sunglasses so I didn't get a chance to see her eyes. However, I noticed her pale skin. Does it seem to me or does she look worse than yesterday?

She was holding a bag in her hand, which I assume contained clothes from Val's wardrobe. She and Luna spent some time there in the afternoon.

I know this because Theo walked behind my ass for several hours because he was bored. Now he has a job to interrogate Nyx or whatever her name is. But I highly doubt Luna will let him do anything. She looked pretty pissed off as she went down to her cell.

"Ready?" I opened the passenger side door for her to sit down.

"As much as possible." She gave me a tired smile and got into the car without another word.

I went to the other side and sat down. I noticed that her eyes were closed and her head was supported by her hand.

I quietly turned on the radio so she wouldn't be disturbed by the sound of the engine and started the car.

It didn't take long before we stopped at the private plane and got on it.

I wondered why she didn't lie down on the couch, which was a few meters away, but sat on a seat and slept. At least I think she was asleep. She didn't say anything, and since I was across from her, I couldn't see through her glasses.

Sometimes her chest rose faster, and sometimes too slowly. She looked like she was in pain. I wanted to ask her about it when we landed, but kept my mouth shut.

Neither of us spoke for almost three hours. Even when we were heading to the hotel to get ready.

I ordered two rooms for us, which were already ready upon our arrival.

I thanked the woman at the front desk and continued to the elevator with Lyssa on my heels. She stood next to me with her bag in her hand and waited carefully for the elevator doors to open again. I gave her the card to open the door to her room.

I showed her her room and told her when she should be ready. She just nodded and disappeared into the room.

I stood in the corridor for a while. Thinking about what had changed.

I feel as if she is moving away from me. Putting some distance between us. I also know that something is wrong. But why can't she tell me what? Everything would be easier if she just told me straight up.

I feel like I'm dying. Which is funny, since I really am dying.

I spent the night trying to get out of Nyx what kind of poison it was so I could find an antidote. But she didn't tell me anything. She just laughed in my face.

And when I woke up in the morning after about half an hour of sleep, I was devastated.

In the afternoon, Luna dragged me into Killian's sister's closet, where she forced me to stay until I found a suitable dress. You can imagine the suffering I went through. At one point I wished the poison would work faster.

The journey to the hotel was not difficult. I feel like I fell asleep on the plane for a while. Either way, I'm not ready to join the society.

It's probably the first time I've put on so much makeup to cover up my tiredness. I don't like the feeling of wearing make-up, but for tonight I'll take it.

I owe it to Killian. Whether I like it or not.

I looked at myself in the mirror for the last time and realized that I don't look bad at all. Even though I don't like wearing dresses, I can't stop looking at this one.

It was as black as night. Deep neckline that showed the perfect shape of my breasts. Long sleeves that covered my snake tattoo. A slit on the right leg that went high up my thigh and a silver belt that managed to hug the dress in the perfect places.

I thanked God that Killian's sister had feet like mine so I could borrow heels. Even though I don't like them, I found some that made me feel good.

They were black as a dress, with a pointed front.

I felt confident, but at the same time I was afraid that I would collapse somewhere. I'm hoping for a miracle that it won't happen.

My jaw almost fell to the ground when I opened the door to see Killian in a suit.

I've seen him in a suit many times, but never once was this one.

It was black like my dress. Jacket, shirt and trousers. All black.

Two buttons on his shirt were undone, giving me a view of his chest. At that moment, I didn't know how it was possible that I was still standing.

But what I do know is that if we go into a room together, we will attract a lot of attention. Whether that's good or bad, it's up to Killian to decide.

I looked up at his face only to see him studying me and swallowing hard.

I'm glad I'm not the only one staring.

"You look..." He cleared his throat. "Good." He finally said.

"I wish I could say the same about you." I laughed. I hope he understood that I was joking. But when I noticed his smile, I immediately realized that he understood.

We walked into the elevator without saying a word, and then the awkward silence began.

"So..." "I wanted to..." We both started at the same time and immediately laughed.

"You go first." Killian offered me.

"No, no, it's cool. Go on." I didn't stop smiling.

"I wanted to ask," please don't ask how I'm doing, please "if you don't mind me calling you Lyssa." Oh thank god.

"It's cool. You can call me whatever you want." Although the name Lyssa sounds erotic from his mouth and I don't mind it at all. "I gave you my name, and it's up to you what you do with it." I shrugged my shoulders.

"All right." He nodded. "And you wanted..." He waited for me to answer him.

"About this event. Who are you trying to impress?" I raised an eyebrow.

"A lot of people." He laughed and then we heard the ding of the elevator.

We went out and walked past the reception to the outside, where the car was already waiting for us. We got in and I don't even know how, but we got to our destination.

Before I could get out of the car, Killian opened the door for me and offered me his hand. In other circumstances, I wouldn't want it, but it's possible that if I tried to stand up on my own, I would fall.

I accepted his hand with a smile and we started walking towards a huge building that was lit up, there were guards everywhere.

He pulled out two invitations from his jacket and handed them. Then they let us in.

The moment I walked in, I knew I didn't belong here. It doesn't matter what I'm wearing. These are not my people.

Most of the people here were old. Expensive jewelry that didn't even look good, but was reported to be worth an incredible amount. Everyone had a tailored suit, even the waiters.

The golden chandeliers overhead screamed even more. I really wonder if it's real gold, but who wants chandeliers made of gold?

Rich people who don't know what to do with money. That's the answer.

"It will be fine." Killian said as he must have noticed my concern. "We won't be here long. I'll try to take care of it as soon as possible and then we can go back tonight so you can go back to Nyx."

I just nodded to him and we walked to the main room.

At every second step, I noticed how people were looking at us. For the first time in a long time I felt uncomfortable. The thing is, I don't know if they're really staring or if it's just my imagination. Right now, I don't really believe in myself.

I felt a hand on my lower back and my gaze shifted to Killian, who wasn't even looking at me, but was leading me somewhere.

More precisely to someone. An older guy who couldn't stop staring at my cleavage, even though it's obvious, by the ring, that he has a wife and probably kids.

"Mr. Acker, welcome." His voice didn't match his face. While his face screamed that he was over sixty, his voice seemed almost childish. It was unpleasant. "And you are?"

"My plus one." Killian spoke.

"I can tell, she's a good catch." He winked at Killian and I wanted to throw up.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that Killian's jaw clenched. But why, I don't know.

"Go look around." Killian leaned over and whispered in my ear. "Smile so he thinks I'm flattering you." I obeyed him and smiled. "Don't do anything stupid." His lips accidentally touched my ear and I froze for a moment. At least I think it was an accident.

I came to my senses as quickly as possible and left them alone. I headed to the first table that was not occupied and stood next to it. Why are there no chairs? Do they expect that these old people will not need them?

I looked around the room and noticed Killian still standing where I left him. From this distance, I could admire him even more and be sure that he wouldn't catch me. In all the time with that nasty guy, he never smiled once, but when someone else came there, he even shook his hand with a pleasant smile.

I don't know who he was trying to impress, but I hope it's the second one, because the first one doesn't look the happiest.

"Eris?" I heard a woman's voice that seemed familiar.

No. Not again. Not here.

I took a deep breath and tried to push this voice out of my head. This is not a good time for me to start freaking out or whatever.

But later I found out that it was not a voice from my head, but a real person.

"Amira?"

*****

Oh yeah love this ending. Sure you you all do too.

For those who don't know who Amira is, she was a MC in Enemies at first sight.

Hope you enjoyed. <3
