My head was killing me.

It was hard for me to open my eyes, let alone move.

I can't remember how I got to bed, but I don't really care.

I heard voices that seemed close, but I couldn't understand a word. The longer Itriedto come to my senses, the louder these voices became. I don't know who they are, but they might as well go talk somewhere else because my head is going to explode.

"I can't tell you for sure what it is. I've never seen anything like it. It must be some man-made substance designed specifically for this. I want to help you, but this is beyond my power." I finally recognized the words and the voice that belonged to the doctor who treated me once before.

"You can't somehow slow down those effects to give us more time to find an antidote?" Another rough voice, which I knew better. Killian.

"Anything I can give her will backfire on us and only hurt her. I'm sorry. I can try to find something, but by the time I get any results...it will be too late."

"How much time does she have?"

"I guess about..."

"Enough to shut you both up." I interrupted them, and with that their gazes were drawn to me.

I slowly supported myself with my hands and leaned my back against the head of the bed. I feel like I've spent all my strength I have left for just this move.

"I'll try to find something." Said the doctor, who immediately left the room with his black briefcase.

"What were you thinking?" I shifted my gaze to Killian, who was looking at me disappointed.

"If you're going to lecture me, keep it. I know exactly what you you want to say."

"You don't." He said harshly. "I can't believe it." He snorted. "I don't know who's more stupid. You, who didn't tell anyone you were dying. Or me, the idiot, who thought, you trusted me enough to confide in me about something like that." There was also pain in his voice. "I feel like it's me." He began to back up until he turned and walked out the door, leaving it wide open.

So that was easy.

I opened the metal door to find Luna standing a few feet away from Nyx, arms crossed over her chest.

"You have something?" I stopped next to her.

"She hasn't opened her mouth. Yet."

"She woke up."

"Is she going to be fine?" She looked up at me.

"She will. After we get answers from her." I nodded my head at Nyx.

"I already told you, honey, I don't have the answers. Looks like your friend is running out of time." Before she could even smile, Luna's fist landed on her cheek, almost causing her to fall to the ground along with the chair. She spat out blood before speaking again. "If you want to blame anyone, it's you." She was looking at Luna.

"Me." She snorted. "And why is that? Initiate me with your next bullshit."

"If she hadn't had that chip in the first place, she would never have been in this situation. Did you never think of why you don't have one? After you ran away like the biggest coward, they shoved it into all of us as an insurance."

I looked at Luna only to see that she had no emotion on her face.

"I wanted to get you, so I've been looking for you all these years. Every time there was a trace, it suddenly disappeared. But when I walked into the bar and saw you sitting there with Eris, it hit me. She was covering for you all this time. She buried everything about you. And look how you repaid her. She's going to die now."

With the last sentence, another fist flew towards her, this time it was mine. I grabbed her by the neck before she could fall to the ground.

"Now listen to me, you bitch." I said between my teeth, but no more words came out of my mouth.

"I'm listening." She smiled.

I stepped away from her and walked outside the cell where the guards were standing. Without a word, I took the knife from them and returned to her.

"A knife? I like this even more." She spoke, but I did not perceive the meaning of her words.

"Killian, what are you doing?" It sounded like Luna wanted to stop me, but she didn't. She just stood there and watched my next steps.

I put the knife to Nyx's neck, but didn't press. "I'm going to enjoy this." I slid the blade of the knife up to her hand, a few centimeters above the chip, and began to cut.

Blood started pouring down her hand and fell on the chair, later on the floor.

"Killian, you're going to kill her." I heard behind me, but I didn't stop.

I went a little deeper with the knife, and that's when Nyx started screaming. "Son of a bitch!" She tried to move, but she only hurt herself.

When her hand was open enough, I dropped the blood-soaked knife on the ground and entered her wound with my fingers. More blood began to flow from it.

She tried to kick off the ground with her feet as I ran my fingers through her hand. I felt the metal and slowly pulled it out which she didn't like. More curses came out of her mouth, directed at me.

When I saw the chip already on the surface, I pulled it out completely and threw it on the ground. Destroying it with my heel.

With blood on my fingers, I crossed my arms over my chest and stood next to Luna. I looked over at Nyx, who had sweat on her forehead and a pretty pissed off expression.

"So about the antidote." I started. "You should start talking. You don't have long." And neither does Lyssa, I have to get it out of her as fast as possible.

"You fool. There is no antidote." She spat. "You can't save her. No one can."

I deserved everything Luna told me. Everything she called me out for. She was angry and furious. I've never seen her like that before.

I tried to convince her that I had good reasons for not telling her. But the truth is that I had no reasons.

It's too late to tell her now.

I also tried to joke, but that didn't help the situation. Maybe it made it worse.

Her last words, which she said to me with tears in her eyes, were, I don't want to lose you. I don't know what I would do then.

I also wanted to cry at that moment. She cares about me and I do too. But this time she can't save me.

My only regret is that I didn't stop the White Snakes.

Long after I'm gone, they'll be kidnapping little girls and training them. It's sick. If I only had realized it sooner, everything would have been different. Why was I so naive?

I reached for a glass of water on the bedside table, but a man's hand stopped me. I looked up at his face and froze.

"You look pathetic." He snorted.

I looked directly into his green eyes. "No. No. You're not here." I closed my eyes. "You're dead." I said in a shaky voice before clutching my head and wishing him away.

"Not a nice way to welcome a brother, don't you think?"

"You are not here."

"But I am. Right here." I felt a hand on my shoulder and shook it off. I opened my eyes and noticed he moved away. "You see." He pointed to himself. "Right here.

His hair was straight and slicked back. A sharp jaw with stubble on it that looked exactly like the last time I saw it.

Although he looks like my brother, that's not him.

"You're dead."

"And whose fault is that?" He raised an eyebrow.

"It's not him. It's not him." I repeated to myself.

"You should stop, it's getting annoying. Really annoying."

"Go away. Please." I whispered.

"Then where would all the fun be?" He laughed. "Come on little sis, we had so much fun together. Don't you want to do that again?" He walked over to me and sat down. He placed his hand on the right side of my body, trapping me between him and the bed. "Or have you already forgotten? Someone saves your life and this is how you repay them. You forgot them?" He tilted his head to the side.

"Please, stop." I felt tears running down my cheek.

"I saved you only to have you die a few years later." He snorted. "So useless." I felt his hand on my face.

Why can I feel his touch? It's just a hallucination. He is not here. He can't be here.

"If only you had a goal in life. But you don't have one. Because you don't live. Sad because you have no one? Weak because you can't let go of the past? Desperate because now no one tells you what to do? Like I said, pathetic."

"My brother would never say that." I tried to get him away from me. I dug into his chest and tried to push him away.

"Look at you. It's a good thing you're not Laurent anymore, it would be a disgrace to us all."

"No! Get out! Leave me alone!" I screamed at him desperately. "Go away!"

"Go away!" I heard her scream again as I entered the room.

But she didn't shout at me.

Her head was in her hands and her eyes were closed tightly. As if she was trying to get away from something.

"Leave me alone!" With another scream from her, I ran to her and grabbed her shoulders.

"Lyssa. It's okay." I tried to calm her down.

"No! Don't touch me." She shook my hands.

"Lyssa, it's me. Killian. Please open your eyes."

I noticed tears on her cheek and sweat on her forehead. She still wasn't relaxed, and she didn't want to open her eyes.

Who the hell does she see?

"Please." I insisted. "It's okay, I promise. It's just me. Just me and you, no one else." I grabbed both of her hands and felt them relax.

I slowly put them down on her bed and cupped her face in my hands.

"Please." I begged her when she still didn't open her eyes. "It's me. Your Killian." I wiped the tears from her cheeks and she slowly opened her eyes. They were full of sadness and pain that broke my heart. "I'm here." I reassured her.

"It was so real." She said in a shaky voice, shedding more tears.

"It's gone now. No one will hurt you. I promise." I looked her straight in the eyes so I could give her all the reassurance she wanted.

"Please don't leave me alone." She whispered and wrapped her arms around herself.

"Don't worry. I'm not going anywhere." I let go of her face and lay down next to her. I put my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to me.

Lyssa rested her head on my chest and I felt her tears as they seeped through my shirt. I could feel her shaking, trying to hold back tears.

"It's okay. You can cry. I'm not leaving."

She touched my t-shirt with her hand and squeezed it tightly before she started to cry really hard, uncontrollably. Her breath caught in her chest and more and more tears fell on my shirt.

"You're safe." I noticed her nodding. "And you'll be fine. I'll find a way to save you. I won't give up. Just hold on. Hold on a little longer." I gave her a kiss on the hair. "I know you can do it. I don't think there's anything in the world that can stop you. We both know you're a fighter."

There were times when all I wanted was for her to disappear from my life. But now? I won't let her. I don't care what it costs. I have to help her.

If Nyx isn't the one with the answers. Someone in a higher position than her must have them. I think I know someone like that.

And if what he said is true, he won't let her die.

"Hold on a little longer, Lyssa. For me."
