"Look who finally woke up."
And I thought I knew how to pretend to be asleep.
"How did you know?" I raised my head to him, which was resting on his chest.
"Maybe it will be because of that hand." He nodded his head at my hand, which by some miracle got under his shirt and ran over his stomach.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I smiled but left my hand exactly where I had it.
"Sure." He laughed. "You look better. How are you feeling?"
"Like I slept for two years and my legs separated from my body." I said into his chest.
"And how well do you remember what was happening around you?"
"It's mostly scraps of images and no sound even. So I'd say not much." But what I do know is that Charles was here. That was the first thing I remembered. And the second was Lukas. If Killian hadn't come, I don't know what would have happened to me.
"Wait, so you don't remember what you told me?" I heard in his voice that he was smiling.
"Um, what did I tell you?" I slowly looked up at him.
"Nope." He tried to hold back his laughter. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing." He bit his lip, stifling another laugh.
"Killian, what did I say?" I took my hand out from under his shirt and sat down.
"They were your last wishes so I'll keep them to myself."
"Killian Acker, what did I say?" I reached for the pillow and hit him with it.
"Looks like you won't find out." He didn't even have time to finish and the pillow flew towards him again. At that moment, he started laughing non-stop. He even grabbed his stomach with one hand, as if it started to hurt after a while.
"It's not funny!" I rose to my knees and stretched myself back with a pillow. But I didn't anticipate that the pillow would pull me down with it, so I landed directly on Killian, who immediately fell silent. At least it silenced him, right?
"Your strength is returning. I don't know about your stability though."
"Maybe it was my plan. It silenced you, didn't it?" It certainly wasn't my plan, but it's not the worst.
I mean look at me, I'm on Killian.
"You really do look better." I felt his hand on my cheek and he pushed a strand of hair away from my face and put it behind my ear.
We're way too close for him to touch me like that. This is going to go badly. Or good. Really good.
"You don't look the worst either."
I smiled, and he did as well.
"Killian." I said breathlessly as our faces started to come closer.
Was this my plan? I hope so.
"Lyssa." He said my name as breathlessly as I said his, only a moment before our lips connected for the second time.
His lips were soft and warm. Our eyes completely closed with pleasure. And I want more.
I ran my hands into his hair, while his hands managed to get me fully on his crotch so I was straddling him. Then they found their way onto my back and he started to pull me close to him as if he didn't have enough of me.
Unknowingly, I moved my pelvis, rubbing against his crotch, causing us both to moan.
I have to say, I have never heard a more beautiful sound than his moans.
I did it again so I could hear him, but this time he bit my lip as if it was a warning. If only he knew that I like it even more.
"And you were dying, huh?"
We both pulled away from each other and shifted our attention to the two figures in the doorway with their arms crossed over their chests.
Without another word, Kai reached out to Sebastian, who took money out of his pocket and handed it to him.
"And that's supposed to be what?" Killian said next to me.
"I knew you bringing her water meant something." Kai winked at me and turned on his heel. He began to walk away while Sebastian stood in the doorway.
"You owe me twenty bucks." He pointed at Killian before closing the door behind him and leaving.
I looked at him confused and started laughing when our eyes met. I rolled off him and landed on the mattress.
"I won't even ask." I grabbed my stomach to calm myself down.
"That will probably be for the best."
*****
Dying sucks.
I felt like a stranger in my own body until I took a shower.
When I returned to the room, Killian was still sitting in bed with his cell phone in his hand.
I enjoyed looking at him while he was somewhere else.
His hair was a mess, but he had never looked better. He reached with his hand to his chin and scratched it thoughtfully.
His chest heaved slowly and his black t-shirt wrapped around the muscles in his arms, which tensed as he ran his fingers through his hair.
He looks like a model.
I leaned my shoulder and head against the door frame. I bit my lip to hold back a smile.
I remember what he did for me. I may not know everything, but I know enough to know that he cares.
He was by my side more often than I expected.
I don't know what that feeling is in my chest when I think about him, but I like it. It's such a warm and pleasant feeling.
One that I haven't felt in a long time. As if I felt safe with him.
Is it good that I feel this way? Because I think I care about him. And when I care about someone, things don't go well with them.
But I can't help it.
I look at him and feel as if time has stopped for a moment. As if nothing around mattered.
I feel alive.
For someone like me, feeling alive means everything. It means I have a reason to live. I never thought Killian would make me feel this way.
"You should stop looking at me like that." Killian snapped me out of my thoughts. How long did he know I was here? He didn't even look up at me.
"Or what?" I challenged him.
He slowly turned his head and looked at me so intensely that my knees almost gave out.
"Nothing." He smiled and returned his gaze to his phone. But I could see that he was thinking about something. I feel like we're thinking the same thing.
"Coward." I whispered, but he heard me and immediately looked at me again.
"What did you say?" He frowned.
"Nothing." I bit my lip.
He pushed back the duvet and stood up. He started walking towards me, and with every step he took, a chill ran down my spine.
He stopped right in front of me and only now did I realize how much taller he was than me. It was intimidating, but I liked it.
"Don't hide something like that from me again. Please." He was carefully examining my face. "Ask for help when you need it. You don't have to do everything alone."
"If I get used to help from others, what will happen when I don't have anyone? Who will help me then? I have to rely on myself. I have to believe that I can do it on my own."
"I'm not going anywhere. So please ask for help when you need it."
"Okay." I nodded.
"You promise?" He raised an eyebrow.
"I promise."
"That's what I wanted to hear." He smiled and grabbed the back of my neck, pulling me closer and connecting our lips.
And it was here again. A warm feeling in my heart that I never want to get rid of.
He slowly pulled away, a smile still on his lips. "We have to go see Nyx. This will wait."
"So you prefer Nyx over me? Good to know." I closed my face, offended, and stepped away from him.
"Are you jealous?" He frowned, but there was a smile on his lips. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer until I hit his chest with my hands.
I don't think I'll ever have enough of his touch.
"Oh come on." I snorted.
"You're jealous." His smile grew even bigger. "You look cute when you're jealous." He brushed a strand of hair from my face.
I don't even know when we got so close. When did all this happen? And why do I not mind at all?
"And you'd look cute with a black eye." I winked at him and he just laughed.
He gave me a quick kiss on the lips before turning and walking over to the table by the door. He took something from it and turned to me. It was a small vial with a black liquid that looked like poison.
"What is it?" I frowned and walked over to him.
"Antidote to that poison from the chip."
"Are you telling me I drank that?" I took it from his hand and looked at it.
"Yeah. But don't worry, this isn't for you. It's for Nyx."
"Why?" I looked up at him.
"I might have cut a chip out of her arm." He shrugged.
"You did what?" I sounded more accusing than I intended.
"I needed a way to save you, but it didn't help. She didn't know anything about the antidote. When Charles was here, he left it here for Nyx. I don't know how he knew she was here. He said we'd need her. It's probably a good time to give it to her."
"I'll talk to her." I turned on my heel and started to walk towards the door when Killian stopped me.
"You're not at full strength yet."
"And yet, I'm able to bring you to your knees. Move, Killy."
"Lyssa." There was a warning in his voice, but I focused on how he was saying my name. How can something so simple be so sexy?
"I'll be careful." I could still see the disapproval on his face. "I promise."
He exhaled heavily and started walking towards the door in front of me. He muttered something under his breath, but it was impossible to hear him.
I followed him to the underground without a single word. He unlocked the metal door and walked in, with me at his heels.
But Nyx didn't see me right away, so she spoke to Killian. "Hey baby. Did you come to play?"
What the fuck did she just say?
The blood in my body started to boil and for some reason I wanted to slap the shit out of her.
I slipped past Killian and crossed my arms over my chest. That's when Nyx noticed me and looked at me in surprise.
"How are you..."
"Alive?" I raised an eyebrow. "We have a lot to sort out. And you." I turned to Killian. "We'll talk later. You can go now."
"I'm not leaving you here with her."
"Like she could hurt me." I snorted. "Look at her."
"Thank you Eris. You are really nice today."
"Shut up." I pointed my finger at her. "And you out. Now." I signaled Killian who opened his mouth but I cut him off. "Now." I repeated more strictly.
"I'll be outside."
Good boy.
I waited until he closed the door before turning to Nyx.
"You look like you're having a bad day."
"It was better when I didn't see you. How the hell are you alive?"
"Guess."
"Charles." She snorted. "Of course he wouldn't let you die. You were always his favorite."
"Is it me or can I hear jealousy in your voice?"
I had planned on being nice to her, but that went out the window when she started flirting with Killian.
Yes, I'm jealous. Sue me.
"At you?" She snorted. "In your dreams."
"You're not good at lying. You've never been."
"Spare me this bullshit. You're here for something. Talk or get out and let me die in peace."
"Do you think you'll die in peace? Dream." I scoffed. "Your last days will be the worst you've ever experienced. Hallucinations that will seem more real than you think. Paranoia that won't make you close your eyes. You still think it's a peaceful death?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Whatever. You will enjoy it. Seeing me suffer. I know I would have. Too bad I couldn't see you like that."
"You really hate me. And it's not just because I'm your mission. I've never done anything to you." At least I don't remember it.
We didn't really talk much in our mutual time in white snakes. It was always just me and Luna. Nyx has always been against us. She hated both of us since time immemorial.
"Are you just playing dumb or are you for real?" She frowned. "You've had everything handed to you since Charles brought you in. You were the one who passed every test without a problem. The one who was popular with the leadership. Eris, the girl who is an example to you all. Be like her. Eris this, Eris that." She snorted. "We were all invisible when you entered the room. But then you ran away. The perfect and flawless Eris slipped away. This was my chance to excel. To bring you back dead or alive. I would be rewarded. Famous that I got you. Everyone would know my name. Nyx, the one who got Eris, traitor and coward."
So this is true. This is why she hates me. Because I was better than her?
"I hate you." She said through her teeth.
I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came to mind.
I finally moved from where I was standing and headed for the door. I opened them and saw Killian standing there with a security guard.
I took a key and a knife from one of them's belts.
"Lyssa. What are you doing?" Killian tried to grab my hand but couldn't.
I went back to Nyx and started taking her handcuffs off. I put the knife at her feet, which I also untied.
Without hesitation she grabbed the knife and brought it to my neck. She pushed me against the cell wall.
"Lyssa!" Killian shouted.
"No! Stay there." I ordered him. "This is between us."

Jealous Lyssa/Eris is kinda cute.
Hope you enjoyed. <3
