Berlin-Germany- Main building of white snakes
"Look who decided to show up." As soon as I entered the room, I was greeted with the warm words of Jocelyne, one of the seven people present. Her black hair was tied up high, as always, and she didn't forget to take the bitchy look from her wardrobe this morning.
One wall of the room was covered with glass, through which one could not see from the outside. There was a huge table in the center and chairs around the edges. Six on the right side, six on the left and a single one in the middle, in front of the windows, as far as possible from the door.
"I was relieved of all responsibilities, why not use it for a vacation?" I walked closer to the table and sat down.
"Wasn't this vacation near New York by any chance?" Her annoying voice sounded in the air again.
"And what is to be in New York?"
Eris. That's what's in New York.
I had to get on the first plane when management called me. Thank god it wasn't until after I stopped by Eris with the antidote.
Jocelyne opened her mouth to say something but was overtaken by Donald who was sitting across from me. "Save these games for later. We have other things to do."
"We've lost contact with one of our agents in New York." Angelina spoke up, sitting two chairs away from Jocelyne. "She was tasked with tracking Eris and reporting her movements to us. We haven't heard from her in a few days."
"If I may enter." I interrupted her. "If I remember correctly, I've been withdrawn from everything concerning Eris. Since it looks like she's a big part of this conversation, should I even be here?"
"Everyone in this room knows that you and Eris have an inappropriate relationship. It was necessary for you to step away for a while until this matter is resolved." Elijah joined the conversation.
"So what changed?" I raised an eyebrow.
"She found the chip and removed it. If she's still alive, we don't know where she is or what she's up to."
"That still doesn't explain why I'm here."
"Because you know her best." Elisabeth's first words since I arrived. "What do you think she's planning?"
"How should I know?" I frowned. "I can't predict the future."
"Oh, please, Charles." Jocelyne snorted. "You spent more time with her than anyone else."
"That doesn't mean I know what her next steps will be."
"There's still a possibility that the poison killed her. She had no way of knowing about it, and she has nowhere to get the antidote." Robert spoke.
"We have to count on that she's alive." Donald said.
"In that case, we have a problem." We all shifted our gaze to Frederik, in other words, the boss. "She is a threat that must be eliminated."
"You want to kill one of our best agents?" I know right now it doesn't matter how good she is. They will go after her anyway. It doesn't matter as long as she's seen as a threat.
"We can send more people after her. Someone more reliable than that girl this time." Angelina said. "Maybe a bigger team. Or..."
"What do you think of that, Charles?" Frederik interrupted her. "What should we do?" Everyone looked at me as he spoke.
"So you're asking my opinion now?" I scanned all their faces. "When I gave you a way out in the beginning, no one listened. You're on your own." I moved away from the table.
"Charles." Frederik's voice held a warning.
"You gave her the chip without her knowledge. No one would like that. You want my advice? Hide. I'll do that. Because when she comes, even God won't help you." I started walking towards the door.
"She's alone." Jocelyne's voice stopped me. "We have the whole army. She doesn't stand a chance."
I turned back to them with a smile on my lips. "Your army is chewing gum on her shoe. Like I said, hide while you have time. Don't say I didn't warn you."
"If you walk out that door you will face the consequences, Charles." Donald spoke up.
"You know what I think?" I raised an eyebrow. "That absolutely nothing will happen when I walk out this door." I smiled. "You've pissed off the wrong woman. That's from someone who's had an eye on her for seventeen years and seen what she's capable of." I looked at my watch. "It's time for me to go. I wish you the best of luck, but not even a pact with the devil will help you when she comes for you. And trust me, she will."
And I just hope I can be by her side and see this organization burn to ashes.
The only thing I regret is that it took me so long to realize what was wrong.
I wish I'd realized that before I dragged Eris into this life. I don't think I'll ever forgive myself.
But I can try to win her forgiveness. Whatever it takes.
And I know the right person to help me.
I've always wondered what it's like to wake up next to someone after a night spent together.
But I'll probably never know.
When I woke up, the bed was empty.
I didn't hesitate for a second and got up. I picked up all my things from the floor and headed to my, but not really my, room.
The whole time I tried to think about it as little as possible. Do I regret last night? No. Does Killian regret it? It looks like he does. Why else would he leave?
Just before I closed the door, I heard Finn.
I opened them a little and noticed how he was trying to get into his room. For some reason, he looked like he was in pain all over.
"Finn?" I caught his attention.
"Eris. Shit. You scared me." He ran his hand over his chest.
"Are you okay?" I frowned.
"Of course." He tried to smile.
"You really are a bad liar." I laughed. "Why don't you try again?"
He took a deep breath, but his breath caught painfully in his chest, which he ran his hand over again.
"Roll up your shirt." I motioned to him and he looked up at me.
"I'm sorry, but you're not my type." He laughed nervously.
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow and walked over to him. I rolled up his shirt and my jaw clenched at the sight of his body. "What the hell Finn." I looked up at him.
"Please don't tell Killian."
"Are you kidding? Did you even see your body? You look like you were hit by a car at full speed and somehow survived. What happened?" His surprisingly developed stomach was covered with bruises that were yellow to purple-blue.
"You wouldn't understand." He tore his shirt from my hands and pulled it back down.
"Why don't you try me?" I crossed my arms over my breasts.
"Are you going to tell Killian or not?"
"It depends on what you tell me. How did it happen to you?" I nodded at his stomach. "I thought you talked to Killian about it. You're not supposed to play the hero."
"I didn't play a hero." He said between his teeth. "I'm just...Why should I tell you." He snorted. "You go straight to him and tell him."
And then it dawned on me. "You paid someone to beat you up, didn't you?" Finn's jaw clenched and he looked away from me. "You didn't do it for the attention, you did it for the feeling. Your reaction tells me I'm right."
"If I told Killian or Kai and Sebastian, they wouldn't get it. No one would."
"I do. You let yourself be beaten into a state where the world around you disappears just to be somewhere else. Even if it's only for a moment. Or you like the feeling. While others are high on drugs, you prefer the pain. So which one is it?"
"Both." He exhaled heavily. Without hesitation, I took his hand and examined his wrists. "I'm not suicidal." He yanked his hand out of my grip. "It's different."
"Oh Finn."
"You think I'm crazy."
"No, I think you need help, but you're too stubborn to ask for it." That makes two of us.
"I'm not going to the therapist again." Again?
"I meant from your siblings. They care about you, if you haven't noticed."
"They wouldn't understand."
"You won't find out unless you give them a chance."
"And you gave it to someone?" He snorted. "You were dying a few days ago and you didn't tell anyone. Especially Luna, who is your friend. You should listen to your own advice sometimes. Don't give it to others when you don't follow them." I opened my mouth to say something, but he beat me to it. "And don't say it's different. It's not. You know if you told them, something would change. You don't believe they'll understand you."
"I trust Luna with everything I have."
"Then why didn't you tell me anything?" I heard a voice a few meters from us.
"Why don't you solve your own problems before you start worrying about mine." He whispered and turned, closing the door behind him. And so he left me alone in the corridor with Luna.
"So?" She approached me. "If you trust me so much, why didn't you tell me anything? And don't come at me saying I didn't tell you about Theo just to change the subject."
"What would change if I told you about the chip? You couldn't help me."
"But you could have asked! We could have figured it out together. If Killian's plan hadn't worked, you would have died. And if Killian hadn't called to say he couldn't find you, I would have arrived too late. How can you be so selfish? Do you care about me at all?"
"Are you serious now?" I looked at her in disbelief. "You really are. Wow." I snorted. "Anything else you want to tell me or is that all?" My jaw clenched as I gave her a chance to say something before I started talking.
"I'm the only person who understands what you're going through. We've been through the same thing. Why can't you ever tell me what's bothering you? I want to help you, not hurt you. Why don't you understand? Why won't you let me in?"
"Because you left!" I screamed at her. "You left me there alone!" Luna closed her eyes in surprise. "I made sure no one came after you. Do you really think they wouldn't have found you if I hadn't stepped in? You would have been dead the second you walked out the door. I gave everything I had just to make sure they didn't find you, and for you to survive. I'd be stupid if I messed it all up now. I didn't want to drag you into it, because I know I'll never have a normal life, but you can!" I tried to calm down, but I wanted to tell her everything for so long, and this is not even half of it.
"If I can have a normal life, so can you."
"I can't! What do you think will happen? Do you think they'll leave me alone? It's only a matter of time before they kill me."
"So why did you let Nyx go? She'll bring them right to you. You can't really think she's going to change because of one conversation."
"It's sad that you don't know me well enough to know that I have a plan for everything."
"And what is it like? Or won't you tell me again? I wouldn't even be surprised."
"Don't start..."
"Why?" She snorted. "Why shouldn't I? There isn't a single reason why you can't tell me your plans."
"Because you would stop me!" My voice broke.
"Eris." She looked at me with fear in her eyes. "What the hell are you up to?"
Truth? This is probably one of the worst plans I've ever had.
"I said I would stop them. I won't let any more young girls suffer like we did."
"That doesn't answer my question. What. Are. You. Planning."
"I have to stop them."
"And you don't care if it kills you." She snorted. "You know what? I was wrong, you're not selfish, you're just stupid. And I have a feeling you don't even realize it."
"Leave it alone Luna." I said more calmly. "I'm not asking you to do anything, just stay out of it."
"And if I ask you to leave it at that and try to live a normal life, would you do it?"
"I can't live a normal life, why can't you understand?" I let out a frustrated breath.
"What about Killian? I'm not blind. What do you think he'll say about this plan of yours that will probably kill you?" She saw my face and understood. "You have no plans to tell him." She laughed. "Of course. What did I expect."
I care about Killian. I can deny it all I want, but why? I don't want anything to happen to him, and the fact that I'm in his house right now just puts him in danger. Him and his family.
"If you won't ask for my help, at least you can ask for his."
"No." I answered her immediately.
"Why?"
"Because people who want to help me die. And I don't want him to end up like that."
"You know about him spending days with you, right? He didn't move away from you even when he was going to eat. Once. He left once, and even then he didn't leave you all alone, but sent Kai there. You think he won't try to stop you?"
"Please stop."
"No."
"Luna..."
"No." She said louder. "You're not going to walk away from this. I hope you realize that I'm going to try to stop you. And I'm not going to stop you only then if you kill me. I don't think you went through all that for me, only in the end to kill me yourself."
Why doesn't she just understand that I'm trying to protect everyone? Is it that complicated?
"We're supposed to protect each other, remember? We promised each other when we were kids. To protect each other. You protect me and I protect you. Not just you. I'll help you whether you like it or not."
"I won't let you do that. I bet neither will Theo. So let me do what I do best. Get rid of people."
"She's going to try to kill the management and die doing it. She's clearly not listening to me." Her gaze went somewhere beyond me. "Maybe she'll listen to you."
I didn't dare to turn around. I'm pretty sure I know who's standing there.
"I have to do it." I almost whispered. "Please let me do it. Why don't you understand that I'm trying to protect you? You and your family." I turned to Killian. "We signed a contract that said that, remember?"
"You are so incredibly stubborn. When are you going to realize . . ."
"Leave her." Killian interrupted her.
"What? You can't be serious." Luna argued with him.
"She wants to go, let her. Who are we to stop her? It's obvious she doesn't care what we think. We both know she'll do what she wants. We can't stop her and she doesn't want our help. So what can we do? She already made up her mind."
Even though his words hurt, his look was even worse. As if someone was slowly pushing a dagger into my heart and spinning it while doing so.
"But I want you to think about your plan while I tell you something." He came closer to me. "You're going to leave and die, we both know that. You can't do it alone. And when you die, nothing will change. The organization will continue. Luna will lose her mind and go after them alone. She'll die too. So you're protecting her now for nothing." He shrugged.
"It's not..."
"I'm not done yet." He cut me off. "Either you do it or you let us help you. I understand you don't want our help and you would never ask for it. That's why we don't expect you to ask us. We're helping you whether you want it or not. I don't care if you mind. Don't argue with me, you'll lose. So whatyou think?" He smiled.
I looked between Luna and Killian. "That life was better when you two hated each other."
*****
Okayyy people I need your help with something.
This book has enough chapters to slowly come to an end.
BUT I have quite a lot of ideas for extending it, and I need to know if you want it to be longer or for me to end it slowly.
If you want it to be longer, you need to get ready that this book will have around 80 or more chapters. Also I wouldn't be able to publish more book in the meantime so you'd have to wait longer for the other book in this series.
If you decide you want it to be shorter, you can expect around 15 more chapters. (I'm not entirely sure how much yet.)
I would really appreciate your opinion, thanks.
Hope you enjoyed. <3
