“I was only doing this for your own safety.”
He was exposed so he can't do anything but to tell the truth. Unfortunately, the Prince didn't appreciate his kindness. The man frowned, he put away the letter then meet Sean’s eyes with his own.
“I don't need it.”
He coldly said before he turned and was about to walk away to go on his own when Sean continued what he wanted to say.
“As a General, it's my duty to protect you and protect the future of the Empire. If you go there on your own, what will happen is not impossible to predict. Please wait for the army I was summoning to get here before we took action.”
He was thinking for his own good, why did the Prince can't understand this?
Cariell stopped for a moment and when he thought the other was already finished with his nonsense, he took another step to walk away.
Seeing this, Sean couldn't help it anymore and said.
“If you really can't be stopped from leaving, then please at least bring some of my men with you.”
“I said I don't need it. I have my own.”
Then without waiting for the other party to respond again he finally strode away.
“What are these letters that I saw almost everywhere saying Eugene was caught?”
At this moment, a young man came over and started to question Sean.
Sean gaze down at the paper and the content on it before replying.
“That's true.”
“What?! Then what are we doing dilly-dallying here?! Don't we need to go and save them?!”
A panic flashed in his eyes as he kept asking Sean questions after questions which made Sean, who already felt terrible since the Prince came earlier, felt even more irritated.
The veins in his forehead bulge as he gritted his teeth before saying with difficulty.
“Enough.”
Eins coldly looked at the man in front of him. He wasn't like Cariell who didn't like to speak what’s on his mind, thus he said what he wanted to say.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Isn't this your duty to immediately go there and save people? What? You scared that you might die in that battle?”
“My men and I aren't enough to suppress them. We could go there now and save him, with those people that was also caught with him. But that's impossible, what if we also got caught? And instead of saving them we brought more danger.”
He had a point, Eins pursed his lips and didn't know what to say anymore. But still,
“Then, if you can't go then I will. It was better than waiting then regret later.”
Anyways he wasn't one of Sean’s men, so he could do whatever he wanted without asking for the others permission. Eins turned his back on him and walked away to prepare for his journey.
This was the second time. Sean slammed his hands on the table which made the person behind him to flinched.
He took a deep breath to calm his mood and mind.
At Cariell’s side, he was currently tying his things to the horse he was using when a female voice was heard that came from behind him.
He looked at the owner and saw it was the Princess, she was smiling at him. When she saw him look over she untied two bags from her belt, one red and one blue then lent it to the man and said.
“This was my latest invention, it could make people immediately short of breath after inhaling this, that could start a heart attack and make them die. While on this blue bag was an antidote or something that could make you not get affected even if you inhale the poison.”
Cariell didn't accept it, he looked warily at the woman before he opened his mouth to speak.
“What is this for?”
Hearing this, instead of feeling angry after being questioned for lending a hand, she just raised one of her eyebrows then smile charmingly.
“Oh? Isn't the Prince going to rescue people? As for why I knew about it, I didn't eavesdrop on your conversation with the General, I just heard it accidentally. As for why would I help you, that's simple, I just want someone to die immediately. Because it seems like the poison wasn't enough to stop his ambitious mind.”
Someone? Is it Lynn? Then remembering the things he heard before, Cariell's eyes flashed as he quickly got the bags from the woman's hand.
“Thank you.”
Even though I hate your son, since you're helping me then it's possible to reduce it. Yes, just reduce it a little. This wasn't enough for him to completely forget the hatred he had in his heart in from the past till now.
Cariell got on the horse back and let it run towards the direction that he knew would lead him back to the Palace.
After how many minutes, Eins was running towards one of the horses he was untying the rope when his Mother saw him.
“You're also going there?”
“Yeah”
Eins attention was focused on the rope, as it was tied up in a complicated way which made him, who was trying to speed up things can't untie it.
“Give me that!”
His Mother couldn't help it anymore as she pushed her son aside and untied the rope on her own. It took only a second for her to do that.
Eins got on the horse back then he looked down at his Mother and said.
“I….I need to go to the Ejen Palace…”
The Princess just smiled, patted the horse back and answered back.
“I understand, it seems like the one you like is in there? Are you also saving him just like the Prince?”
The young man on the horse frowned when he heard this.
What does she mean by that? Cariell also went there right now?
“Cariell?”
“Yes, he just left before you got here.”
“Then I'm leaving now.”
“Take care my son.”
The horse started to run, and the woman who was left standing there walked back to the place where people were camping.
Cling.Clang.
A sound of chains being untied was heard in a quiet prison.
“Is it him?”
“Yeah”
Two guys whose body was big took a step towards the youth that was chained in the wall. His clothes were already torn from all the hits he took. Soak by his own blood, dying the cloth in a lovely red color.
They removed the chains that were binding the youth's wrist. As they both took his arms each side they heard the youth whisper but they didn't understand.
“...w…..e…r….”
“What did he say?”
The other guy shrugged and just told the other to just do his job. Today, they will transfer the youth into another prison.
They didn't care if the youth could walk on his own as they just dragged him towards their destination.
A sound of another chain was heard.
Marius, who was relaxing inside the prison, immediately opened his eyes and looked at the source of noise.
Cole also stood up, ready to fight anytime in case it was an enemy. The place was dark, the torch at the side was the only source of light but it still couldn't lighten up the whole place.
The sound continued until they heard a chain fall to the ground. The cell door opened. A foot step inside, followed by another which reveal a young girl in a maid uniform wait-
“Linus?”
Cole asked, his face full of disbelief. He could only guess as it was a little faint and when Linus was finally in the range of the torch light, Cole put a hand on his mouth to support his jaw that was about to fall.
He looked up and down at the young wom- man in front of him then looked at Marius who already stood up from his half laying state then gaze back at the young man.
“I….I didn't know you actually….”
Cole looked up and down again before continuing his speech.
“...had this kind of…..hobby..”
He said it in as low a tone of voice as possible so as not to get heard by some people outside, well, just in case.
Linus was already irritated after wearing the maid uniform, then this stupid man added fuel to his anger which made him walk towards the man then slap his head the back.
“Deserve”
Even though it was so low, in a cell that was so quiet, Cole still heard it. It even came from his Majesty!
His Majesty was actually making fun of him.
“Stop wasting time. Let's go.”
The cold voice sounded, De An, whose existence was almost forgotten made a sound of agreement. Thus, the group of men with a young man in a woman's clothing walked outside the prison cell.
“Eugene?”
When Linus heard the Emperor's question, he sucked in a cold breath before answering. He gripped his knuckles hard that it almost went pale.
“Underground”
The face of the three men who heard this darkened.
“He really wants to meet death.”
Linus knew the Emperor was talking about his Father, so he just shut his mouth and didn't speak anymore.
The atmosphere was tense as they took the way towards the underground prison. Sometimes hiding or just knocking people's consciousness. I mean, what could they do in front of a captain of the Emperor himself?
As long as they weren't outnumbered then it's fine.
“Why don't we put on the guards' clothes?”
The three looked at Linus who suddenly spoke then thought, that was a good idea. Knocking people and hiding took their time so it was better to just be with them.
So the four people slowly and silently drag the unconscious body of the guards and strip them from up and down.
After half an hour of tossing, they finally finished changing themselves. Linius breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but express his joy of finally getting rid of that skirt. That stupid skirt that could ruin his own reputation if it went out.
But thinking, it was only these three people who saw him, he knew they didn't like to talk about people so this matter won't definitely spread out.
The naive boy was still naive after all.
It took them almost how many hours to reach where Eugene was locked up but when they opened the cell, they saw nothing.
No Eugene, not even a cloth or something. The prison room was clean, like it had never been used before.
