HEYYY! So this may be a short chapter but i'm hoping the next one will be much longer. It's sad that we are coming to the end of the story soon. But who knows, I may write a few chapters of my own after the war is over and company goes back home. Hopefully then we will get to see more of (Y/N) and Kili as we won't get to see much of it during the war. Anyways, I'm gonna leave you guys to read this chapter. BYEEE!

———————————————————— I've been sitting on the same rock for almost an hour now, staring at nothing, gathering my thoughts. I had found my Rosa Peace flower in my pocket. It had been squashed and died long ago from being in my pocket all these weeks. I could still smell the freshness off the flower as if it had just been picked. I twisted it around my hands as I listened to the horror outside.

I can hear the screams of the elves and town people from afar and the marching of the Orcs in their heavy armour. I can hear the clashing of swords and the sound of the sword meeting flesh. A single tear slipped down my face. As terrified as I am about going to war I didn't to be sat here whilst others fight our battle. We started this, but Thorin will not let us end it.

We declared war on the elves. The Orcs had been hunting us. We promised lake-town for a share of the riches that lies in the mountain. But we stepped down whilst others fight for their lives. And to make everything worse Bilbo is out there. He may have Gandalf and can fight but on his own but I still worry. One wrong move or one missed look over the shoulder could cost his life. I would rather be out there with him and die with him than hide from my fears and leave him alone.

My thoughts were interrupted by someone. "Hey." It was Kili. He sat down on the boulder I was sitting on next to me. "Hey." I thinned my lips and looked down at my lap."You okay?" "No. No, i'm not okay." Kili wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me towards him. "I can't say everything will be fine, but i'll try my hardest. Hey, I'm pretty sure I could still put that beautiful smile back on your face." He looked down at me as a small smile tugged at my lips. "There it is. That's my girl." Kili gently placed a kiss on my head, I wrapped my arm around his waist and rested a head on his shoulder and tried to block out the war outside.

Kili and I were talking with each other until we were interrupted by an angry Dwalin storming past us mumbling stuff under his breath. "I've had enough of this. I will not hide any longer." Dwalin spoke to himself as he stormed off towards where Thorin was. Confused, Kili and I looked to each other and decided to follow Dwalin.

"Dwalin." Kili jogged up to Dwalin with me not far behind him. "What is it Kili?" Dwalin tried to block out Kili by continuing to walk. "Where are you going?" Kili and I followed beside him, I stayed quiet whilst Kili asked all the questions. "To Thorin." "Why?" "Must you ask so many questions?" Dwalin growled. "What are you going to do?" "I'm going to try and talk some sense into that man. You can come if you wish, both of you."

Dwalin made sure to let me know I could also come along, even though Thorin may not want to see me right now, but what the hell, he was in the wrong and he's had more than enough time to cool off. It was a warning. But I chose to ignore it, if it means trying my hardest. "I'll come." I said. "Me too." Kili added. "Alright then." Dwalin sighed.

We made it to the throne room. Dwalin led with Kili and I on either side of him. I shared a worried glance with Kili before we made it to Thorin. He was sitting on his throne with a blank expression. He looked up when he heard our footsteps approaching.

"Since when do we forsake our own people?" Dwalin questioned. "Thorin, they are dying out there." Kili and I stayed quiet behind him. Thorin inched forward in his chair and his grey eyes looked at Dwalins. "There are halls beneath halls within this mountain," Thorin mumbled "Places we can fortify, shore up, make safe. Yes."

Thorin stood up and walked toward Dwalin. "We must move the gold further underground to safety." "Thorin, listen to Dwalin." Kili spoke up with annoyance in his voice. Thorin looked from Kili to me and back to Dwalin, motioning to him to carry on. "Dain is surrounded," Dwalin said "They're being slaughtered Thorin." "Many die in war. Life is cheap." I opened my mouth to interrupt but I shut it closed. "But a treasure such as this," Thorin continued "cannot be counted in lives lost. It is worth all the blood we can spend."

I scoffed and the attention was brought to me. I could see the fire in Thorin's eyes. "You sit here in these vast halls," I spoke calmly but my eyes were narrowed "with a crown upon your head, and yet you are lesser now than you have ever been." "Do not speak to me, as if I were some lowly Dwarf-lord, as if I were still... Thorin Oakenshield." Thorin chocked on the last part. I was shocked at the sudden emotions coming out of him.

"I am your king!" Thorin yelled as he brought out his sword and swung in the air. "You were always our king," I said "You used to know that once." I walked up the steps closer to Thorin by his throne "You cannot see what you have become." Thorin paused. "Go." "But Thorin-"

"Get out...before I kill you."

My mouth slightly fell open and tears pricked at my eyes. I could tell by the look is his eyes that he will kill me. Tears threatened to fall, before he could see me cry once again I hugged myself and ran away, out the throne room. I could hear Kili not far behind me.

"(Y/N)!" Kili shouted but I ignored him and ran faster, I could hear his footsteps move quicker. My hair was free and was flying behind me, tears fell down my face. I was far from the throne room and now I was running through corridors deep in the mountain.

"(Y/N). Hey, hey." Kili had caught up to me and grabbed my arm. I stopped and turned to him, stains of tears on my face. "What, Kili?" "He did not mean what he said, (Y/N) please." Kili tried to calm me down but it wasn't working. "I miss it, Kili! I miss when everything was normal. We weren't hiding from war, when Thorin, well I thought, liked me, but now he wishes me dead and I just-" My voice broke and my bottom lip quivered "Everything's going wrong...and I want my father."

I sounded like a kid saying that but there is nothing I want more right now than to have my father with me so I know he's safe. I want to know that he is not in the middle of battle and shielded by the wall of stone.

"He did not mean it. He under a dark sickness and he is saying things that are not true. And even if he did mean what he said, I love you and I do not care what he thinks, I will always be by your side not matter what." I looked from the wall to Kili. "You think so?" "I know so." Kili wiped a fresh tear off my cheek with his thumb.

He brought his hand up to my cheek and I rested my head on his hand. I closed my eyes and smiled taking in Kili's touch. "Thank you, Kili." I sniffled. "I hate to see you upset, it makes me just as sad. I will always be here for you, promise me you'll always remember that. I know nothing about this quest has been easy, and you have every right to be upset, but it will be all over soon. And you'll be home and with your father."

Kili held his arms out, open. "Come on." Kili motioned to himself. I quickly walked into his arms and wrapped my arms around his torso. He wrapped his arms right around me and buried his head in the crook of my neck. I buried my head in his chest and absorbed every bit of him. I could smell the leather off his clothes and the metal off his coat. I moved myself so I had my arms around his neck and my face was buried in his wavy hair. He moved his arms around my waist.

We stayed like that for a while. I smelled the cleanness of his hair, even though we haven't been able to wash for days, his hair was soft. I brushed my fingers through his hair until I felt something. I pulled my face away from him and looked at his hair. I felt a chunk of hair and pulled it out from under his waves.

It was his braid. The braid that I did in his hair all the way back in Beorn's cottage. He's kept it in all this time. "You kept it in." I said with a breathy tone. "What?" He slightly pulled away. "The braid. You've kept it in all this way. But why?" I looked up at him with a curious expression.

"I guess it's something that I treasure dearly. After all, you did make it. I will keep it until it falls out on its own. It's something i've promised myself." I smiled and I blushed. I tried to suppress my giggles but a few escapes as I brought my eyes to the floor. "I just put my heart out and your laughing!" Kili said jokingly with a hand on his heart. "Im sorry! But...that's was a bit cheesy." I giggled.

Kili thinned his lips and went bright red, he looked down at his feet. "But I loved it." I pecked his lips. "I love you." "Love you too. Now come on, let's go find the company." He held out his hand. I placed my petite hand in his and we found our way out of the labyrinth of the mountain where we met with the company, two still missing. Thorin and Bilbo.
