Stains of dried tears ran down my face, my eyes still puffy. I was far from Kili now but I told him I would be back, even though it feels we are worlds apart.
We were getting closer to the lake, where I'm guessing our King lies. So much death, in one day. 2 members of my family and my love, taken from me. Just like that. The dwarves were all miserable from the loss of their family members. They told me that Bilbo and Dwalin were safe they were just with Thorin.
We finally reached the lake and by a rock laid Thorin. I brought a hand up to my mouth and sobbed, I honestly felt like I was seconds from throwing up. Dwalin was stood behind Bilbo with his eyebrows drawn together and Bilbo was on the floor by Thorin.
The closer I got I could see the tears in Bilbo's eyes but he was holding them back. "Father." I said, feeling nothing but numbness. Bilbo looked up at me. "(Y/N)." Bilbo stood up and looked at me, I know what that look said. "He's gone, Father. He's gone." I ran into Bilbo's arms and cried. Bilbo rubbed my back and he made a little noise. "I'm sorry, Father. I know what he meant to you." I pulled away, Bilbo looked down at Thorin. "Yeah," he pulled away and sniffled
"He...he was my best friend." I grabbed his arm. "Father." He fought the words out. "Yes, (Y/N)?" I fought threw the pain and gave a weak smile. "I think we both know he was much more than that." Bilbo bit his bottom and it's slightly quivered.
"And I'm sorry about Kili, I truly am." Bilbo said. He placed a kiss on my head and pulled me in for another hug and I sobbed into his shoulder. "Its hurts father..." I sobbed with every bit of pain left in me "Its hurts so much. If this is love I do not want it. Take it from me," I sobbed "Please."
"I know (Y/N)," he swallowed "I know it hurts, dear." He cupped the back of my head and shh-ed me whilst crying himself. We stayed like that for a long time and everyone had tears in their eyes. I slowly pulled away and wiped the tears from my face.
I looked down and twisted with the ring on my ring finger. "What you got there lassie?" Bofur asked looking over shoulder. I paused before answering with a smile. "The future we wanted." The future we could have had.

Everyone has had their moment with their king. I said my goodbye and watched as Nori, the last one to say his last words to Thorin, put Thorin's hand on his chest and closing his soulless eyes. I stood there staring at the floor. There is somewhere I need to be, as if something was calling me, pulling me.
I spun around and jogged away. "Where are you going, lass?" Bombur called behind me. "I'll be back." I mumbled. As much as it pained me to go back and see his lifeless body on the floor I just wanted to spend more time with him, just 5 more minutes. I was basically running until I slowed down. It suddenly hit me that there was no point rushing he couldn't go anywhere, and I think that's what hurt most.
I shivered as the cold winter air nipped at my nose. I was only wearing a skirt and tunic with a corset. My cloak fell off long ago during battle and I didn't want to risk it to get it back. My hands were white and my body was pale which was very contrasting to my face and my body had many bruises and wounds as well as my fresh swollen eye. My nose and cheeks were bright pink and my eyes had a small pink tint from the crying. A tear fell here and there but at this point I felt...empty. Heartbroken. Lonely.
As I turned the final corner I was tied up my hair until I stopped. My hands stopped mid-way whilst making the ponytail. I gasped and dropped my band, my hair flowed down my face and onto my shoulders, eventually falling down to my elbows. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A tear fell from my eye, again. My bottom lip quivered.
Kili.
He was standing! He was alive! I stood there only a few feet away from him, I couldn't believe it. Have I gone crazy? My eyes trailed up his body. He was just barely standing, his knees looked weak. I looked to his chest where the blood was spread across his tunic and eventually trailed up to his eyes. Those eyes I never thought I would see again. He was pale and dried blood was on the side of his face. I watched as his mouth slowly turned into a smile.
"Kili?" I whispered, my breath coming out as a single cloud. Kilis smirk grew and suddenly the blood around my body began pumping my heart as the love was being restored. "The one and only."
"Oh my god." I brought a shaking hand to my mouth as I couldn't fight anything else out but even more tears. It was as if I could feel the life being pumped back into my body. "You didn't think I would leave you, (Y/N)?" Kili said. My heart fluttered at his soft voice. "Kili." I breathed. He opened his arms, waiting for me.
"Come here." I ran over to him and jumped into his arms. He picked me up and spun me around. I buried my head in the crook of his neck with a beaming smile on my face, I wrapped my arms around his neck as he spun us around.
I sobbed, for the pain the heart had been feeling and the relief that has rushed over me. Without my other half I could feel my heart breaking and struggling to function on its own, but my other half is back. He's back. My Kilis back. He tugged me extra tight before putting me down.
I brought my hands to his face and starred into his eyes. "I thought I lost you! I thought you were gone!" I said, tears trickling down my face. He just smiled, he stared at me how he did when he first told me he loved me and that put the pieces of my broken heart back together. "But how? I watched you, you died." I struggled to get the last word out. "Nothing a bit of elven magic can't do."
Kili looked over my shoulder and I turned to follow his gaze. Tauriel. She was a few feet behind us. Her hair was messy and she had fresh cuts. Her hands were by her side and she was watching us. I've seen the look too many times to see she was heartbroken. I let go of Kili and slowly approached Tauriel. She towered over me by about a few feet. I looked up at her with thinned lips.
"Thank you. You don't understand how much you have done for us." I said. She looked down the ring on my finger and I could see the final bit of her heart shatter. She sucked in her breath. "I hope you have a happy life together. I must go. Goodbye, both of you." She turned around and quickly walked out, I didn't get a chance to stop her.
I turned to Kili who looked guilty. "I would have invited her to the wedding, she was gone before I could ask." I said. Kili was looking down at his boots and a grin creeped on his face. He slowly looked up at me. "There's going to be a wedding?" I smiled. "Your alive aren't you? I would hope there would be a wedding." I walked over to him and he snaked his arms around my waist, he knocked out foreheads together and oh my god, it felt like I fell in love with him all over again.
"I would love it more than anything to have a wedding. I'm going to stand at the aisle and watch as all eyes fall on you and your stunning gown. Bilbo is going to walk you down that final distance and we will vow our eternal love for each other." I kissed Kili, slow and passionate. I pulled away. "My One." He muttered into the kiss with a huge smile. I pulled away and squeezed him extra tight before pulling away. "Sounds like a plan. Now," I tugged on his arm "The company will be happy to see their Kili back."
I tugged him all the way to the lake. I paused when I realised who was on the floor, with the company in a circle around him, on one knee. I looked up to Kili who was looking ahead, his face blank. "Kili, I-" Kili let go of my hand and walked forward. All the company gasped as they saw Kili walk past them. They all looked back at me but I gave a sad smile.
We all watched as Kili dropped to his knees in front of Thorin. A knot tied in my stomach. Kili lost two people he loved. He lost his own brother and his uncle. This will scar him for the rest of his life. I followed in the footsteps of Kili and rested a hand on his shoulder. He dropped his head and shook it. "We're sorry Kili. We truly are." Nori said with his eyebrows drawn together.
Kili sucked in a breath and stood up. He rubbed the back of his neck, I could tell he was holding back tears. "Its not our fault. He died knowing he saved his kingdom, he was the best uncle and a loyal king. Thorin and Fili are now resting," he struggled to find the words, his voice breaking "They are now at peace and will be together."
He was right. Fili and Thorin are now resting. They will meet again and watch over us and guide us. Thorin will always be known as a true king and a loving uncle. Fili will be remembered as an heir to the throne and as a loving, loyal and intelligent man and older brother. And now they are at peace...in a land beyond starlight. Beyond this world. Beyond home.
