The mountain seemed almost unrecognisable as we wondered down hallways and walked through large halls to find the dining hall. The mountain just used to be stone and gold but now, it is full of decoration, colour and just a bit more life. I could hear music being played somewhere in the hall, I could hear a flute and violin, they all played together and created a fun and lively piece of music that makes me want to run around and dance, just like back at the masters house all that time ago.
Before we were about to leave Kili's bed chamber I managed to pull him back and let me change, I had been stuck in the same clothes for about 2 weeks. I managed to wash frequently but I needed a change of clothes, the tunic was wearing was covered in dirt and even had a small rip in my side.
Turns out Kili had a huge selection of elegant dresses made for me as well as some other casual clothes like tunics and trousers. However the dresses had the biggest selection, some reminded me of the elves dresses back in Rivendell, I remember telling Kili how much I admired their gowns and I now know that he really listened. But some of the others were like what I wore back in the Shire before I met the company, and they're what I love most.
Since I've never dressed up with gowns like this before I decided to go full out with one of the elven styles dresses. And oh my God I was in love.
(Y/N)'s dress:
We had finally made it to the dining hall. My dress dragged behind me and Kili was cautious not to step on it or trip me up. Kili offered to hold the back of my dress but I said it was fine. The hall was huge, a long table ran down the middle of the room enough to fit the whole company and more. Candles were lit everywhere and banners with dwarfish ruins hung from the ceilings.
I looked to the table where the company were sitting including a few people who I did not know and they were all staring at me. Everyone else was dressed very fancy, even Dwalin.
The colour of my dress stood out from all of the other dark colours of their outfits. The table was yet to be filled with food, everyone had a glass of wine infornt of them, some also with a chalice of water. Bilbo was sat at the table, his hair was neatly brushed and he looked rather anxious, yet excited. As did everyone else. I couldn't help but be curious to what is the special occasion.
"Well how lovely of you to join us! Come here ye love birds" I heard a strong accent at the head of the table and I smiled at the man walking towards us with open arms. Dain.
He wore his usual clothes with a red cape trailing behind him. He embraced Kili is that hug that boys always do and he then turned to me. "You look lovely, my lady." He bowed in front of me, I couldn't help but smile. "Oh, thank you. You look well, my Lord. It feels good to be back." I said. "I do hope you have managed to recover from the past events, I know how much you have gone through." His face was sympathetic "I am well enough, and I hope you are too. It wasn't easy." I don't think i'll ever recover.
Dain exchanged a final smile with me before he stood back up and stepped away as a women approached me. She looked much older than myself but she looked beautiful. Her hair was dark, you could mistake it for black, it was wavy just like Kili's and ran down past her shoulders. She had a few grey hairs but that would change my mind about her beauty. She had a few braids in her hair just like Fili did and she had beads in her hair, I could have sworn Fili wore those exact beads. Who was she? Is she Kili's mother? Oh god.
Her dark eyes softened and creased at the side, her plump lips lifted up into a warm smile. Her face was slim and silky smooth, she had a little bristle but i'm guessing she is a dwarf which is normal. But it was incredible to see. She must be his mother. "Hello, (Y/N). It is amazing to finally meet you." I was about to grab my skirt to curtsy until I was embraced in a loving and extremely strong hug.
"(Y/N), this is my mother, Dís." Kili watched the two of us as his mother pulled away and I think my face had never been more readable. "I don't think you understand how long i've been waiting to meet the young hobbit who has captured my sons heart, he always wrote about you in his letters."
I took a big breath "Kili hasn't stopped talking about you either," I told her "He's always told me we'd get along very well." "And we will," She linked my arm and began pulling me away from Kili over to the table with the dwarves "Come, I've saved you a spot next to myself. We have so much to get to know about each other!"
We sat down at the table. Dís was to my right and Kili was on my left at the head of the table. Bilbo sat in front of me who was next to Balin. It seemed Balin had brushed his beard and wore his fanciest coat. It felt good to all be together again, and now i've met Kili's mother and cousin. And from the stories i've heard they both are absolute warriors, they're stories definitely contrast their warm hearts and incredible humor. I haven't known Dís for very long but I know she is a very strong and intimidating woman, but really she is kind and very intelligent, just like her brother and sons.
Throughout dinner they asked me many questions about myself. They asked me about the Shire and what it was like, I told them everything. Maybe a bit too much, it wasn't until I saw everyone at the table staring at me that I realised I was rambling on. I stopped talking and looked down at my lap. "Sorry." I tried to brush of the awkwardness by laughing. I rubbed the back of my neck. "Don't be sorry lassie," Balin said from down the table "It's good to have the noise back, it's been really quiet lately." The rest all agreed and that made me feel better.
We finally finished our food and I was stuffed. I looked over at Dís who brought her chalice up to her lips. I'm just realising how large her hands were, I also noticed that she had large biceps. She probably more muscle under her dress, I could tell just by her grip of her glass that she is very strong.
As Dís and I talked whilst the plates were being taken away I couldn't help but look over at Kili. He smiled as he watched the two of us bonding. His eyes flickered to meet mine and looked away, it made my heart skip a beat. "So Kili," Dís said to Kili "What are your plans with you and (Y/N)?"
"Well," he cleared his throat as he brought the chalice from his mouth "We plan on getting married in only a few months, that should give everyone enough time to do what they need to do before the big day. And..." Kili braced himself. He looked from me to Bilbo and then back to his mother. "(Y/N) agreed to staying here in the mountain. It was all very sudden but she's sure. Her father Bilbo,"
He gestured to Bilbo who was watching us and my breath hitched in my throat "Is of course open to visiting whenever he wishes," He turned back to his mouth "I know they're both extremely close so we'll work around it." He smiled at me with promising eyes and I believed him.
Everyone turned to Bilbo. "Oh," Bilbo sat up and twitched his nose "Well, I am happy to stay back in the Shire, but thank you for the offer. I feel like it's time (Y/N) has her own space." "Thank you." I looked up across the table to my father and he gave me a knowing smile. "Well that seems lovely!" Dís took another big gulp from her ale before smacking her lips "It's getting late, i'm going to turn in for the night."
She placed her hands on the table and pushed herself off the bench. "Goodnight all." "Goodnight Dís!" Everyone said as she strode out the room with a powerful stride and her wavy hair bouncing behind her on her lower back.
One by one the dwarves began to leave the dining hall and turn in for the night until it was just Dain, Kili and I. "Well, I'm going to bed. Goodnight love birds, don't have too much fun." Dian said whilst winking. "Goodnight Dain." I chuckled as I linked my arm in Kili's. "Night Dain." Kili hit Dain's back as he passed Kili.
The large doors shut behind him and it was just Kili and I. My dress was now really uncomfortable and the heels were digging into my feet, suddenly i'm very fond of my casual tunic and trousers. I used Kili's arm for balance as I took off the heels from my feet, I sighed as I could feel the blisters on the feet, it had been a long time since I had worn heels. "I'm guessing your ready for bed?" Kili said with a smirk. "Yep, i'm exhausted." I said re-linking my arm with his. "Alright, let's go then."

We finally made it back to Kili's bed chamber. I had put my bags in the corner of the room so I had my own little corner for now until I gathered the energy to unpack. Kili sat down on one side of the bed and I sat on the other, our backs were to each other. I took out my earrings and then my hair. My hair fell down to below my elbows, I lightly ruffled it to only brush is back out with my hairbrush. I stood up to grab my things so I could go get changed but I stopped and almost dropped the hairbrush in my hands.
His back was still too me but...woah. Kili had taken off his shirt and I could see his bare chest. I was taken back by him and I felt like an idiot for it. My mouth fell open as he threw his shirt behind him onto the bed. He had many abs and big, strong muscles, I hadn't seen his chest before and I'm upset I hadn't. I couldn't tear my eyes off his chest until he caught me red handed.
"My eyes are up here, princess." I could hear the smirk on his face. I tore my eyes away and looked at the wall. I could feel my face go bright red. "I know that." I gulped. He barked out a laugh "Go get changed (Y/N). Bathrooms over there." He pointed to a door where i'm guess was the room where I could change. I could see Kili's smirk as I quickly walked past Kili, grabbed my night gown and walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind me.
I got changed and came out the bathroom, back into Kili's bedroom. He was standing above his desk, looking at a piece of paper still not wearing a shirt. He had changed his pants, he brushed a hand through his hair before he noticed I was back in the room.
"Everything okay?" I said getting into bed. I pulled the covers over me and was shocked by the softness of the sheets, I could sleep for days in this. "Everything's fine. Just letters from the north saying they won't be able to attend the funeral, they said they are too far and won't make it in time. I've been trying to work things out for a few days but... I don't know." Kili sighed as he climbed into bed with me.
"Everyone across middle-earth and beyond are coming for the funeral." I turned to him and I tried my best to smile for him "It'll be okay, Kili, I promise." I moved up in the bed so I was right next to Kili. He wrapped and arm around me and pulled me even closer to him. I was pressed against his chest and his chin was on my head. " I suppose. So, what do you think of my mother?" He asked smiling. "Oh I love her. I understand what you meant when you said we would get along, she's incredible. And badass, that woman could take on a whole army with a single arm." I felt Kili's chest move as he chuckled.
"Bilbo took the news well. I expected him to react a bit more." I continued. "He's letting you go, he's letting you do what you want. He loves you too much to hold you back." "I guess. I will miss it back at home, my warm bed, my books, my morning tea and just everything beautiful about it." "And I will make sure you get that, I'll get you anything you want and more. I will try my hardest to make you feel at home, I promise." "Thank you." I mumbled as I buried my head into his chest. My eyelids were heavy and every now and then I let out a long yawn.
"Get some sleep (Y/N), you've had a long journey." "Hmm." I mumbled. I fell asleep to the silence of emptiness from the corridors and the echos of Kili's breathing. I pulled the blanket tighter around me when a gust of wind sent a shiver up my spine, my dressing gown was only enough to cover my body, barley enough to keep me warm. Maybe next time i'll have to think ahead about my outfit choices.
It feels good to be home...
