Kaito wasn't able to focus. His eyes kept on shifting to Samantha's lips as she muttered her statement to him. What was he supposed to do next? Kill her? Kiss her? The second option didn't seem too bad. Kissing her would catch her off guard, but killing her would cause a bloody mess. He was too exhausted to do any clean-up.

His time to react was running out quickly, and he didn't have a comeback to her sassy remarks. He felt like he completely lost his game.

"I'm going to ask you one more time, Mr. Takashi. Who are you?" Samantha wrapped her arms over his shoulders. "More importantly, who are you working for?"

"Delete the recording, Samantha." Kaito reached for the device, but Samantha snatched it away before he could grab it.

"Uh uh." She waved her index finger and tapped him on the nose. "I want answers first before I report you to the cops."

"Are you threatening me?" Kaito cackled.

"All I have to do is make sure YOU don't catch me when I run." Samantha blinked at him. "You don't think I can run? Keiji is wild, ask him how many times I've had to chase after him. Toddlers are fast."

"You really piss me off, you know that?" Kaito cracked an angry smile at her. "Just because you heard me say one thing, you act high and mighty—"

"You're stuttering." Samantha sighed in satisfaction. "That's so cute. And your face is turning red! You're getting worked up."

"Give me that recording!" Kaito hissed at her. "I'm not playing games with you. Hand it over before you regret it."

"What are you going to do? Kill me?" Samantha teased him.

"I'm going to break your hand." Kaito quickly pulled Samantha close and twisted her around. She gasped at the action and quickly tugged herself away before ramming her knee into his groin. Kaito blocked it and grabbed her by her leg, dragging it forward so Samantha could lose her balance.

But she caught herself and tugged at his hair, making him roar out in pain. "What are you?! Five? Let go!" He grumbled and grabbed Samantha by her waist.

"You let go!" Samantha exhaled sharply. "Get your hands off me!"

"I don't have time for this crap." Kaito reached for Samantha's hand with the recorder buried deeply in between her fingers. "Give me the recording or I'll snap your fingers in half, Samantha!"

His threat made her angrier so she yanked him by his hair, making him growl. "If you touch my fingers, I'll make sure you go bald you dastard! Tell me who you are working for!"

"Jesus Christ!" Kaito groaned before kicking Samantha's feet off the ground. She released him and fell on her back. Her breath felt rushed when she landed on the gravel.

Kaito crawled on top of her and reached for the hands again, but he let his guard down. Samantha kicked him in the groin, finally hitting him this time. Kaito's voice became strained, allowing for Samantha to roll him off of herself.

She changed positions quickly and crawled on top of him before holding his hands above his head. "Enough!" She screamed and allowed her chest to rise and fall steadily. She needed to catch her breath.

Because of their fighting, her hair had come out of the messy bun and her sweat made her hair frizzy from all the movement. Kaito didn't attempt to remove her from him. She had worn him out as well, even though he held back from using all his strength so as not to hurt her.

Kaito relaxed his body against the dirt ground, and the two just stared at each other, taking deep breaths for what seemed like forever.

"I can't do this anymore, honestly," Samantha mumbled. "You don't care, but I'm so tired. You dragged me thousands of miles away from my home, kept me in this dump of a town! You took my only son away from me, and forced me to work for your mother as a server, all so you could do some dumb mission!" One of her tears fell off her face and landed on Kaito's neck.

"I'm tired Kaito!" She grunted. "I still don't know why you even approached me. Why did you even go as far as letting me have a child with you? Do you understand how sick and disgusting you are for doing that? You've ruined my life!"

"I'm not going to sit here and listen to your sob story—" Kaito started, but was cut off when Samantha shoved her hand over his mouth.

"Shut up and listen for once! If you talk I'll stuff the dirt in your mouth and make you eat it!" Samantha growled more ferociously than ever. "I agree, you should've killed me AGES ago! But this is a new low, even for someone like you! After I found out your identity, what you should've done was gotten rid of me! That's what assassins do!"

"Believe me, I tried—" Samantha grabbed a fistful of dirt and shoved it in between his lips. Kaito spat it out immediately and gave her a murderous glare.

"Are you crazy!?"

"I am!" Samantha snapped at him. "I told you to stop talking until I finish!"

"Did you really have to put dirt in my mouth!?"

"If it gets you to shut up, yes!" Samantha nodded confidently. "Assassins are supposed to eliminate witnesses and targets."

"You don't have to tell me how to do my job," Kaito mumbled under his breath.

"But I soon realized, all your threats were empty." Samantha brushed her hair out of her face. "You not only kept me alive, but you brought Keiji to a safe place. You almost drove me insane, because I didn't know where you took him. And then you brought me to him." Samantha lowered her head ashamed. "And when those gangsters were after you, you protected me from them. You know, I really try so hard to hate you. I hate myself for this, but... I still love you. You've made it so hard for me to hate you. How freaking dare you?"

Kaito huffed out a chuckle. "You love me, huh?"

"I almost killed a man because of you! All because I thought I would lose you. I don't accept what you do for a living, but I didn't want Keiji to lose his father. I didn't want you to die." Samantha sobbed.

"You kill people for a living. But you have been sloppy recently. You didn't even kill those gangsters. You let them live, something about you has changed." Samantha groaned. "Why are you suddenly doing the right thing? Assassins don't spare people." She finished. "So again, I am asking you. Who are you working for?"

Kaito just stared blankly at her.

"You can talk now." Samantha wiped her tears and rolled her eyes at him.

Kaito didn't know what to do. She had figured him out. So should he tell her that he's secretly in cahoots with a cop? "I don't want to tell you."

"Why not?"

"Because I don't trust you."

"I sat here pouring my heart out, confessing my love for you, even after you took me away from my home and I know that you've murdered people. But you still don't believe me?"

"How much do you love me?" Kaito teased her.

"A lot."

"That is a bit dull. Do you love Leo, or do you love me? Are you going to let that love go sour or are you going to keep those pretty lips shut when I tell you?" Kaito smirked. "I want you to prove it to me, and if I feel that you genuinely love ME, then MAYBE I'll tell you."

Samantha rolled her eyes at him. She simply tugged him forward and abruptly brushed the dust off his hair. "Kaito, you are absolutely insane. You say things you don't mean, but you do nice things when no one is watching." She grabbed his chin. "I hate that you smoke, but I appreciate you don't do that in front of Keiji. And I hate to admit it, but even when you're not Leo, you are a great father."

Kaito was surprised at the last part. That was a label he never expected to receive in his lifetime.

"Although you reek of cigarettes and alcohol, and you drive me mad. Sometimes I want to choke you, really. But I do love you." She kissed him briefly and pulled away quickly after realizing she shoved dirt into his mouth. She whimpered and wiped her mouth, but Kaito yanked her back and kissed her again despite her resisting.

"Do you know how late it is Kaito!?" Wilson grumbled the moment he opened his front door. But his heart almost stopped when he saw both Kaito and the journalist, Samantha standing on the other side. He screamed, his voice going higher than Mariah Carey's, and reached for a nearby gun.

"Hold it!" Kaito suspected the confusion and blocked the weapon and knocked it out of Wilson's hand. "Jesus! What are you trying to do? Kill her, Wilson?!" Kaito shook his hand to alleviate the pain. He smacked his finger against the barrel the wrong way, causing him to hurt.

Wilson was at a loss as to what to do. The woman he helped deceived, Kaito's wife was standing at his front door. And he didn't know why.

"It's a tranquilizer gun! I was going to put her to sleep!" Wilson gasped. "What is she doing here!?"

"She knows who you are." Kaito rolled his eyes and motioned for Samantha to come inside.

"How!? I've kept my identity well hidden!"

"I told her, idiot." Kaito huffed.

"Everything? You told her EVERY thing?"

"Yes." Kaito brushed his hair back and yawned. It was still late out, but now that Samantha had put clues together about him, the only thing left was to tell Haruka.

"You even told her about the case you're working on?"

"I haven't exactly disclosed that part yet." Kaito shrugged. "Samantha, this is Wilson. He is a private doctor, and he runs a private practice. But now, he leeches off of me for my money."

"I don't leech off you!" Wilson blushed. "I'm not a leech!"

Samantha stepped forward and placed her hand out for him to shake. "I appreciate you taking care of Keiji. Thank you so much." Wilson took her hand and his mouth dropped at the feeling.

"Your hands are so soft! And your skin is smooth!" Wilson smiled at her.

"Um.. thank you." Samantha tugged her hand away, but Wilson didn't remove his grasp. Kaito snatched his hand away from Samantha's and glowered at Wilson. The look in his eyes was a warning.

"She is so sweet! I wish we had met under better circumstances. I apologize for Kaito's rough behavior. He doesn't know how to treat women properly." Kaito slapped Wilson on the back of his head. "Ow! Don't hit me! It's the truth!"

Samantha tried her best to hold in the laugh that threatened to escape her.

"Anyways, have you told her about Haruka yet?"

"Haruka?" Samantha glanced at Kaito. "Who's that?"

"His father—"

"He is a dastard who gave me the assignment to make my circumstances better." Kaito intervened.

"Make your circumstances better?" Samantha crossed her arms.

"When I went to America, my task was to eliminate a target who posed a threat to one of my clients. But I didn't know that it was a setup. Haruka was the one who arrested me." Kaito explained cautiously.

The client Kaito worked for was a snitch. He was assigned to kill a dean of a prestigious school, but by the time he got to the location where he was to finish his task, the dean was already found dead. The cops had pulled up when Kaito found out, and he was arrested by Haruka himself. For that particular kill, he was framed and imprisoned, but Haruka refused to take Kaito's words to heart since he was known to be a very good liar.

"Being an assassin didn't exactly put me in the right place when I went to court, and the judge contemplated giving me a death penalty. But Haruka was the one who offered me a reduced sentence if I worked undercover for him."

"So... you work for a cop?" Samantha placed her hands over her mouth and a soft gasp escaped her lips. "You're an agent?"

"Not exactly." Kaito leaned against the back of the couch in Wilson's living room. "I work undercover, but I'm not affiliated with any cops," Kaito smirked like the devil he was. "A guy has gotta make money somehow."

"So you're still in cahoots with the Yakuza?"

"I have to be. I can't let the world know that I'm working with a cop, their enemy. There are other assassins in this field who are just as money-hungry as I was. Once the Yakuza realizes that I'm trading secret information, there's a high chance that I'll get a hit put on me."

Samantha groaned. "I never thought about it like that."
