"Get off of him!" Samantha threw herself over Kaito's body. She shielded him and stopped the thugs from hitting her husband. The three thugs decided to leave Kaito and Samantha there, in the rain. "Kaito! What is wrong with you?!" She grabbed him by the wrist, but Kaito shrugged her off.

"Let me go!"

"Why were those guys beating you? What happened? You're soaking, come inside!" She reached for him, but Kaito swung his arm away from her. "Are you... are you drunk?" She grabbed his face and tilted his head.

The smell of heavy liquor-filled her nostrils. Kaito indeed had a lot more drinks than he needed. "It's none of your business." Kaito spat and snatched her hands off him.

"It is my business! You're setting a bad example for Keiji! Coming home drunk is not a good thing for our child to see, idiot!" Samantha searched Kaito's pockets. "Where is your phone?"

"Get off!"

"Where? Give me your phone!" Samantha whined. She wanted to call Wilson or Haruka to take her husband out of the rain and somewhere for him to rest. She didn't want Keiji to see him like this. "Kaito! It's cold and I'm wet! Tell me where your phone is!"

Kaito took off his jacket and tossed it at Samantha angrily, allowing for his long sleeve to get wet by the rain. By this time, the storm had worsened. Samantha struggled to find Kaito's cell as the water droplets pounded onto her hair and skin.

When she finally found it, she covered the screen and opened the phone. "Haruka... Haruka.." She mumbled and looked for his contact name. Before she could call, the phone was snatched out of her hands and thrown to the ground. "Kaito!" Samantha groaned. It was going to be a long night for her.

"What the..." Kaito swung his legs off the couch and examined his environment. He quickly realized that he was in Wilson's apartment. His face hurt and his head was pounding. "Shite." Kaito groaned.

"Good morning sleeping beauty." Wilson spun around in front of Kaito. He was dressed in a baby blue apron and sweatpants. In one hand, he had a mug full of tea, and in the other, he had a plate of toast.

"How the heck did I get here?" Kaito massaged his forehead and grabbed the mug and took a drink.

"You're sweet wife brought you last night—"

"Crap! Samantha!" The memories of him stumbling home drunk flooded his thoughts. "Where is she?"

"She's asleep in my bedroom. You stressed her out so bad that she looked like death. Her skin was lighter than ever, and she was shivering when she laid you out here."

"In YOUR bedroom?" Kaito hissed.

"Relax, I slept at a hotel nearby. I didn't touch her." Wilson placed the plate on the coffee table and laced his hands on his waist. "I let her sleep in, so I cooked. There are some pain pills in the kitchen for your hangover."

Kaito rolled his eyes.

"Do you wanna explain why you went home drunker than a pirate? You know you're an angry drunk, right?" Wilson folded his arms. "You broke two of my vases last night."

"This case is just so frustrating and tiring," Kaito admitted.

"Is it too difficult for Kaito Takashi, the most dangerous assassin in all of Japan to handle?"

"I'm serious, Wilson." Kaito moaned. "I met with Inochi last night, and it didn't go well."

"What do you mean? Isn't he the guy who always welcomes you back with open arms?"

"I don't know how to explain it. Everything feels different now. We were talking, and it only took me a few seconds to realize that he was lying to me."

"Lying to you?"

"He was a lot more defensive than usual. He kept asking me if I was suspecting him of Katashi's disappearance. And honestly, I don't know what to think anymore. Katashi wasn't kidnapped, it's obvious he ran away—"

"A few days ago, didn't you say Samantha saw Katashi?"

"It wasn't him," Kaito grumbled. "I chased him down, but it wasn't Katashi. I'm frustrated because I don't know who that guy was working for."

"We haven't even reviewed the video. With some time, I can enhance the image and identify the man was at Hana's shop."

"Although it'll be helpful to identify that dastard." Kaito pushed himself off the couch. "We have to find Katashi. Inochi is probably out there doing god knows what with my brother."

"But what if Samantha is right?"

"I'm not going to waste my time on a sloppy observation. Samantha's judgment isn't as good as you think it is."

"Excuse me?" Samantha's groggy voice made both men freeze. She sauntered over to Kaito and stopped directly in front of him with the nastiest look on her face. "Is that how you view me Kaito? A woman with sloppy observation?"

"It... came out wrong." Kaito sighed.

"I dropped out of nursing school to become a journalist. I worked my butt off to work at a major Broadcasting company, day and night, slaving my butt off to make stupid articles on YOU. Don't forget punk, I caught you in the act first." She poked Kaito in his chest. "My judgment is not sloppy."

"Your articles have been wrong before, Samantha."

"Wilson, how much time do you need to enhance the video?" Samantha glared at him.

"Oh shite. You heard that conversation?"

"I'll give you 30 minutes to enhance the video and identify the man I saw a few days ago," Samantha commanded, and Kaito opened his mouth to rebuke her, but Samantha shoved her index finger over his lips. "I know what I saw that day Kaito. Don't put my skills down just yet."

"You're not gonna actually do what she says, right Wilson?" Kaito laughed sarcastically. "You only take orders from me."

"I'm not going to get involved between you and your wife's matters." Wilson brought out his laptop from the bedroom and started typing away.

"You've gotta be kidding me," Kaito growled.

~

"Find anything yet?" Kaito leaned over Wilson's shoulder, watching the computer screen as multiple tabs and windows popped up. Wilson smirked and looks at Kaito.

"For a guy who was just doubting his wife, you're awfully keen on wanting results. What's gonna happen when you find out that you were wrong?"

Kaito narrowed his eyes at Wilson and slapped him upside the head. "Dimwit."

"Ow! Samantha! Your husband hit me!"

"And it seems like you want worse." Kaito's threat was venomous. He cracked his knuckles and winked at Wilson, and the action sent shivers down his spine.

"Would you two stop?" Samantha nudged Kaito away. "Your time is running out Wilson, hurry up."

Wilson couldn't believe it. His work was being rushed by two insane lovers. Kaito's threats weren't empty, and Samantha's evil eye was starting to stir fear in his bones. "You two are a match made in heaven." He mumbled under his breath and clicked on the photo.

Finally, the image cleared, and he zoomed in.

Kaito studied the clear image.

"I told you! See? He looks just like you Kaito, but it's obvious he's younger." Samantha slapped his shoulder in excitement.

Sure enough, the man in the restaurant that day was indeed Katashi. Kaito recognized him. "I can't believe it." He gripped the back of the couch.

"You can't believe I proved you wrong? Hah! Who has sloppy and bad judgment now, Takashi!" Samantha laughed. "You owe me one!"

Kaito was overwhelmed with emotion. He didn't know whether to feel angry or joyous. "This doesn't make any sense!"

"Okay, Kaito. Don't be a stick in the mud. It's not that bad to let your wife be right." Samantha frowned.

"No, not that!" He rolled his eyes at her. "He was missing for almost 4 years! But this whole time, he just pranced back into the shop like it was nothing? He wasn't kidnapped, and from the looks of it, it doesn't look like he ran away either! So what the heck am I doing wasting my time trying to find him for!?"

"Kaito..." Samantha placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Wait..." Kaito slapped his fist onto Wilson's shoulder. Wilson wheezed in response. "If that is Katashi, then who did I follow after he left? Play the footage."

Wilson nodded and rewind the video a few times before any of them could spot anything strange.

"There goes Keiji..." Samantha mumbled. "And us..."

"Katashi went to the left... but Keiji is following a man dressed exactly like him across the street." Kaito pointed at the strange man dressed in all black in the video. "This is too complicated."

"Maybe, you should report to Haruka." Samantha bit her lip nervously.

"We should, but there's one thing that's bugging me Kaito." Wilson hummed. "We've established that Katashi came back. But why is he dressed like he's hiding from someone? And it's the exact same type of clothes as this guy. Why are they dressed alike in the first place?"

"Maybe they both have the same taste in fashion?" Samantha shrugged.

"Absolutely not."

"Definitely not." Wilson and Kaito both agreed.

"Geez."

"Katashi doesn't have a specific taste in clothes. I know him better than anyone. He's a kid who likes manga and dresses in long sleeves shirts and sweatpants." Kaito stated.

"It's been how long since you've seen him? He could've changed. None of us are the same as we were years ago."

"I see your point, Samantha. But Kaito is right. Katashi was an extraordinary student and he looked like one. In other words, he looked and acted like Kaito's other alias, Leo Takemi. Minus the long hair."

"Ugh." Samantha groaned. "You don't get it, do you? Are you men really this dense?" She stormed off before the two could respond. The men decided to ignore her and dig for answers.
