The two siblings had just left the basement when they heard the sound of dreaded alarm ringing. Leila froze in her steps. Her grip around Antonio tightened who was also gritting his teeth.
"Do you know the escape route?" Antonio asked with slight difficulty. His breathing was a little fast and with each second, Leila could feel his body gradually warming up.
"E-even if I do, I won't leave without you." Her voice was small but her tone was stubbornly resolute. Antonio could not understand for a moment whether to scold her or praise her.
They stayed quiet.
"Let go." He suddenly ordered.
Leila instantly did that and stepped back, her back pressed against the wall as she watched Antonio worriedly, he was trying to stand straight but his knees remained a little bent.
All of a sudden, Leila felt a strange wisp of wind on her face that made her hair wave. Her skinny and thin face was revealed as the curtain of her hair was lifted.
She only heard a slight grunt of Antonio. Her eyes widened to see a man dressed in similar uniform though with different color 'green', pinned under Antonio's foot. He was holding a dagger in his hand. Leila watched as blood dripped down it before again feeling the same rush.
Her naked eye barely caught Antonio lunging at other man who appeared out of thin air.
"DOWN!" He yelled with his back still to her.
Her body did so instinctively before her brain could even progress this command.
The horror was visible on her face as she found a strange sword like lethal weapon plunged into the wall, at the place where her face was supposed to be.
A tear threatened to drop out of her eye and her throat tightened.
But she held it in.
Antonio had already taken care of the one who used this sneak attack on her.
"Don't...leave my sight." He warned.
Leila looked up at him, watching as more attacks came, this time from each of his side. Her eyes could not keep up with these movements.
Moments later, it grew quiet. There was no more rustling, no more grunts.
"Antonio...!" Her voice grew with concern as her brother fell on his knee and coughed out blood.
Ignoring the massacre below her, she ran to him and held him tightly, not caring as his blood dripped down her neck.
He could no longer hold on. But he still fought through pain.
His one arm went around her back and in an instant, he had her behind him as he sensed one another attack coming again.
This time it was too strong. His opponent was abnormal, the black uniform said so clearly. He did not realize when his side was stabbed, instead he attacked ruthlessly again.
Antonio gritted his teeth as something sharp plunged in his arm. Ignoring the pain, he struggled once again and managed to take this inhumane person down.
This victorious outcome did not impress Antonio, he grew anxious because he could no longer see as blackness surrounded his vision. His body which was warm before felt abnormal chills. He felt pressure filling in his head. His mind blanked after a thought hit him...... 'My body could no longer hold on.'
"ANTONIO!" His right ear twitched as her voice reached him. But it sounded too faraway like underwater. He could not get close....Suddenly it was too quiet and he fell into a deep abyss.
"ANTONIO!" Leila cried out and reached out to grab him, so he would not fall. But she was not able to reach him.
He fell...
"ANTONIO! ANTONIO! WAKE UP! WAKE UP please....Wake up please, Antonio....." Her voice grew softer and she hugged his upper body.
"Please Antonio...Don't die....You can't die...." A sob racked out of her throat as tears rolled down her cheeks endlessly.
The reality was too horrifying. His breathing was too slow, few seconds later, she realized, he could barely breathe. She pressed her ear against his chest.... The beating of his heart was too slow. He was so pale as if his blood had been drained out completely.
'He was dying!'
"Please....P-please...." She cried out her begs.
Suddenly, a thought came across her mind. She looked around the hallway with panic and anger.
"I KNOW YOU ARE LISTENING TO ME!"
Her yell caught Xever's attention who was indulged in watching this whole scene, enjoying every bit of it.
His commendable mercenaries, who were trained as silent yet brutal assassins were all taken down by someone who was barely standing upright. The scene made excitement rush in his veins.
That's why, at last, he especially sent his another soldier, the member of special force number 897 whom he trained trained himself. Antonio managed to take him down even if his foot was stuck in the grave.
This was too impressive and boring. Because at the end, Antonio's body succumbed to injuries and lose of blood.
'He was dying!'
The thought made him smile.
"STOP IT! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS WITH US?! IF S-SOMETHING HAPPEN TO MY BROTHER TODAY, I SWEAR TO GOD, YOU WILL REGRET IT!! YOU HEAR ME?!!"
Xever listened to Leila's screaming while she sobbed loudly at the same time. Dante watched on silently, his face was void of any expressions.
"She's threatening me? How sweet." Xever sneered.
"Now Antonio is out. Go and get her to where I told you. When my dear brothers will come.... There will be two presents waiting for them.... One dead and other broken beyond repair."
Dante froze.
"But she is too young." 'And your sister.' He wanted to add.
"Does it look like I care?" Xever seemed nonchalant. His eyes narrowed...
Knowing what Xever had planned for Leila, this was the first time, Dante ever regretted following him. But he could only bit his tongue and obey.
