Another day, Leila once again was on her way to school. Angelo had given her the lift today like usual. As she stepped out of the car, she immediately attracted attention of the other students who were hanging out in the parking lot. They watched her through the corner of their eyes, whispering among themselves.
Leila had a habit to ignore them as always. She was unconcerned about their views, thus she walked past them in her carefree way.
As she was putting her books in the locker, her eyes fell on Adriano. He was staring at her in an almost unabashed way. The Queen Bee Julia aka his girlfriend was also with him and she was also looking at Leila curiously.
"Is there something I can help you with?" Leila asked directly.
The bluntness in her tone stiffened Adriano while Julia was a little surprised.
Leila looked changed and her aura also felt too unlike as for the past.
"Today is Alexander's funeral. Aren't you going?" Adriano asked.
Leila was completely aware of this topic. The mention of Alexander almost creeped her out all over but she remained calm and collected. He was dead anyway and he can no longer hurt her. But what Leila could never forget was the torture he made her endure, the craziness and that obsession which suffocated her badly.
"Wasn't he your best friend? Instead of pestering me here, you should have been with him in his final moments." Leila smiled politely before shutting her locker loudly, ignoring the silence which hung around the hallway.
She went on her way to the principal office as Jordon had called her earlier, telling her to meet him before the class.
"I thought she changed when coming back to school after two years but in these few days, her return indicates a completely new person." Julia whispered to her boyfriend.
Adriano remained silent.
He did not know from where this certain confidence come from- whether from her kidnapping or her brothers full support with her now.
Adriano was nevertheless happy.
After meeting Jordon who acted nothing but like a concerned father, echoing his worries over and over again, Leila went to her class.
Rest of the day went smoothly. Nobody approached her again. Stares were there all the time but whispers lessened. Not that Leila cared about them.
At the end of the school day, she rushed out and a smile formed at the end of her lips at the sight of her two brothers. One crazy and one painfully sane duo--Luciano and Vincent.
The ride back home was filled with laughter.
On returning home, they bumped their ways into Carlo and Xavier who were also returning back from somewhere.
"This weekend we are organising an event at home...Be ready for that." Xavier informed them.
Taking note of this info in her mind, Leila ran upstairs to change as Luciano promised her an outing to the amusement park. She was excited to spend time with him and have fun.
She changed into her casual clothes and ran back downstairs towards the garage where Luciano and Vincent were waiting. But at the front door, she almost bumped into an unexpected visitor.
It was Andre. The second son of the King family.
He looked down at her coldly.
"Mr. King, welcome." Mia's voice rang behind Leila.
Leila looked back at her.
"Master Xavier is waiting for you in his study. Please follow me, so I can lead you there."
Hearing this, Andre walked past Leila silently. The whole ordeal was not at all strange but she felt weird for some reason.
Leila went outside where she met up with Luciano and Vincent.
"Did you see that bastard?" Luciano scoffed.
Leila nodded understanding exactly whom he was referring to.
"Shall we go?" She squeezed herself between Luciano and Vincent, linking her arms around them, a bright smile plastered across her face.
At the fifth floor, Xavier was standing at the balcony staring at the scene downstairs, a look of emptiness was evident in his eyes. Suddenly, the door opened and Xavier looked back.
"What do you want?!" Andre asked, his tone was filled with impatience.
"Why don't you take a seat? There is a lot that I have to say."
Andre did not look impressed at all.
"My brother died due to your negligence, Xavier."
Xavier's lips almost curled up at his statement.
"Oh... Are you sure you were not happy after hearing about the death news of your dearest brother?"
Andre froze before his eyes turned murderous.
"What the hell did you just say?!"
Xavier looked unaffected at his aggressiveness.
"Why don't I tell you a way with which you can remove your elder brother Francesco out of the way too?"
"Just what the hell are you saying?" The impatience was still there minus aggressiveness.
The sight made Xavier smile.
"The bonus is- You will become the head of the King family. Second is- you won't have to work beneath someone."
Andre stilled before he sat down on the chair and leaned back with a chuckle while his hand covered his eyes. A complete 180° turn in his behavior compared to earlier.
"Your offer sure sounds tempting. But I'm surprised how do you know about this?"
Xavier smiled faintly.
"Not all younger brothers are dumb and loyal like my brothers."
*************
At the hospital, Antonio was also allowed to leave today but before he left, he went to meet his father, Lucifer in his ward.
"I will wait outside." Zach said and left the room after seeing Lucifer once.
"Father." Antonio whispered.
He was surprised when he found his own vision getting blurred at just first glance of Lucifer.
"Ah shit! Fuck there is dust in the room!" He scoffed, cursing and wiping his eyes frantically.
"I have become tough, father. I don't cry anymore... You won't be able to call me crybaby and clingy baby anymore."
Antonio cringed at his own words.
Remembering his childhood, he really was a spoiled brat and turned out to be an asshole as he got older.
He looked at his father again and grinned.
"I have become strong too. But Father, there is something I want to tell you- I had hurt Leila a lot but I am making up for it."
"I have promised myself that I will become a better person and a better brother. So my siblings can truly depend upon me. Because you know I have heard Xavier saying this once that what is the point of being strong if I cannot protect my family."
Antonio's smile was unwavering.
"Xavier is really strong... Much stronger than anyone else. We have a strong faith in him and we have always admired him. I and the rest of my brothers want to become just like him... And, one day we will."
