Weekend was here quicker than Leila could even prepare herself mentally for facing all these people who were invited as guests.

All of them were important figures, including some politicians and well known officers from special forces.

Leila had never thought about approaching them or greeting them, thus she stayed beside her reckless brother Luciano and aloof brother Vincent.

Soon the Silas family arrived and Leila had to go and greet her godparents- Aurelio and Jennet.

After this, she instantly returned back to her brothers. Luciano wanted her to drink wine but Vincent declined in her place and poured her apple juice in a glass.

As she was drinking peacefully, a commotion sounded at the entrance. Leila looked in that direction with a frown.

The King family was here.

She watched silently as they stepped in the centre and immediately drew the attention of everyone.

Angelo approached them and took them straight to the conference hall, connected beside the banquet hall. Leila watched in confusion as few other officers followed behind them.

'Today's event seems very important.'

Before the King family had entered the hall, Helena's eyes had made contact with Leila. She glared at her with a look full of hatred.

Leila stared back at her helplessly while Luciano glared back at Helena, Vincent was relaxed and he stared right at the woman calmly as if daring her to try something idiotic.

When they finally stepped in and the door closed, the trio did not say a word but both of the brothers' actions silently told Leila to be careful but also not to worry too much at the same time.

Leila was feeling tired, thus she returned to her room mid-event. She changed her clothes and dived into her comfy blankets for a nap, when suddenly a knock sounded at the door.

Her brows furrowed and she sat up, before trudging her feet to walk towards the door.

She opened the door slowly and to her surprise, it was Jennet standing at the door.

"Leila... Is everything ok? You left abruptly." The woman asked her goddaughter kindly.

"Eh... I was just sleepy." Leila shrugged before inviting her in.

Both of them sat on her bed. Jennet grabbed Leila's hands in her own.

"Just look at you... You have become too skinny. Leila, you need to take care of yourself."

Leila listened to her concern. A smile unknowingly came across her lips.

"Aunt err godmother.... I'm well.. Please do not worry."

Unknowingly to both of them, time passed quickly. After talking with Jennet, who acted like a concerned mother figure, Leila felt really at peace.

Perhaps, that's what really having a mother was like.

Leila felt instant relief as she shared her worries and experiences with Jennet who listened to her calmly, the hands comforting her never left.

Reminiscing about what occured during her kidnapping, tears gathered in her eyes but she did not cry this time.

****************

By the time Jennet left, the event was close to the end. All the guests had returned, thus Leila made her way out of her room to head to the kitchen with the intention of having some quick snacks.

Never she had imagined that she would come across with the view of her brothers arguing with each other.

Leila froze at the door, watching as Carlo yelled at Xavier with nothing but rage in his eyes. Angelo and Zach were standing beside Carlo in alert as if they feared that Carlo would attack Xavier.

Leila was surprised.

She had never seen Carlo reacting like that.

Antonio was sitting on the couch with a unlit cigarette dangling in his lips. Vincent and Luciano were standing in the sidelines, watching the scene unfold. Leila was quite confused seeing Luciano having a blank expression on his face.

He looked strangely calm.

This was never a good sign. His craziness had already became a normal trait of him. So this calm indicated that something was terribly wrong.

But overall the most surprising one was Xavier. Xavier usually never let his emotions run through but he was always deeply invested whenever it was related to his family. However, today he looked unbothered and careless.

"IF YOU FUCKING DARE TO DO THAT, XAVIER, THEN I WILL LEAVE THIS FAMILY!"

When these words of Carlo reached Leila's ears, she felt like her whole world had flipped.

An eerie feeling struck her suddenly.
