Mason POV
I had to be held by three fucking cops.
I wanted to run to her when I heard fucking Oliver approach her. I was fucking sure it was him. I was ready to leave the principal's office and beat the shit out of him.
I relaxed slightly when he left, but their grip on me never loosened.
The fear I felt was incredibly painful. I never thought that fear could actually cause physical pain, but I guess I was wrong. I felt like I was underwater. I felt like I was drowning. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't fucking breathe.
Listening to her breathing calmed me down slightly, but I could hear that her breaths were fast and shallow. She was scared. My sister was scared, and I wasn't there to protect her. I wasn't there to hug her and tell her that everything would be okay.
I wished that my fingers would turn into claws so I could rip my chest open and let the air in.
Hearing his voice made me and the rest of the people in the room freeze.
It was familiar. So fucking familiar.
But the fear clouded my brain, and I couldn't focus.
She called him Sir. Why didn't she say his name?!
The beating of my heart was so fucking painful. I was sure it was breaking my fucking bones.
When we heard him say the words "my perfect little doll", the fourth cop grabbed me.
Holy fucking shit!
My eyes widened and I stopped breathing.
I heard her gasp.
I heard footsteps.
And then silence.
No!
Fuck no!
The cops grabbed me tighter because I started trashing in their arms.
What I heard next almost made me throw up.
"Put it down, Derek." I heard one of the cops say.
Put what down?!
PUT WHAT DOWN?!
Derek? Who the fuck was...
Holy shit!
The gasps around the room made it clear that everyone figured it out.
"You don't want to hurt her, Derek." I heard the cop's voice.
Hurt her?!
HURT HER?!
NO!
"YOU PROMISED." I screamed. "YOU FUCKING PROMISED THAT HE WOULDN'T TOUCH HER!"
I kicked and punched. I was getting out of here. I was going to get her. I didn't give a shit.
One of the cops grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back.
It didn't stop me from trying to get out of their hold.
I didn't give a fuck. They could break it. I was getting to her. I was getting to my sister.
"Mason!" one of the detectives shouted. "Enough!"
"FUCK YOU!" I screamed.
The cops made me kneel. The four of them wrapped their arms around me, and I couldn't move. I couldn't fucking move!
NO!
She needed me!
She fucking needed me!
I felt something wet fall on my cheek, and a sob broke through me.
Chris kneeled next to me and grabbed my arm. He looked terrible. He was trembling, and I saw tears in his eyes as well.
Jax had his arms wrapped around Hazel, who was shaking and crying silently. Jax was pale and he looked like he was going to be sick.
"Put it down, Derek." I heard the cop's voice again. "Come on. You don't want to hurt her. You love her, don't you?"
He laughed.
HE FUCKING LAUGHED!
"I do love her." the fucker said. "She is my doll."
I was going to throw up.
"Don't hurt her then." the cop said. "Let her go."
"I can't do that." he said. "She belongs to me."
NO, SHE DOESN'T!
She is mine! My sister! My twin! My other half! My best friend!
"Don't do this, Derek." the cop said. "Don't add this to your sentence."
"Do you really think that I am going to jail?" the fucker laughed darkly. "I thought about this. I knew that there was a chance that you would stop me. I knew that there was a chance that you would catch me. I planned this. I do wish that I had more time with her. I prepared a room for her. I made a dress for her. I had other plans, but I knew that there was a chance I would have to adjust. I won't leave this room alive, and neither will she. She is mine in life and in death."
"Derek, no!" the cop screamed before I heard a gunshot.
My whole fucking world stopped.
I heard screams. I heard people shouting. I saw the people around me move.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I fucking couldn't.
Is she gone? Is my beautiful sister gone? Is my best friend gone?
No.
Please, please, please no.
The pain I'd never felt before gripped my insides.
A sob broke through me.
I couldn't breathe.
My vision blurred.
I saw Chris' face in front of me. He was talking, but I couldn't hear him. He grabbed my shoulders and started shaking me.
"Move, Mason!" he screamed. "We need to go!"
Move?
How can I move if she is dead? How will I breathe if she is dead?
"Come on, Mason!" Chris screamed again. "Your sister needs you!"
My sister needs me?
I need her.
Chris grabbed my arms and pulled me up on my feet.
The cops weren't holding me anymore. They weren't in the room anymore. It was just me, Chris, Jax, and Hazel.
"We need an ambulance!" I heard someone screaming through the phone that was connected to the bug in Emma's necklace. "She is alive!"
Alive?
Did I hear that right?
She is alive?
It was more than enough to make me move.
I ran out of the principal's office.
Everything around me was a blur, but I could see people leaving the building with a panicked look on their faces. I could see the cops escorting everyone out. I could see them staring at me as I raced through the halls.
Alive.
That is the only thing that made me move.
I reached the library and barged inside.
"Mr. Richardson, leave!" Perry said immediately.
I ignored him completely and raced to the third aisle on the left.
He grabbed me and stopped me.
"Let me the fuck go!" I screamed.
"You can't go back there!" Perry yelled, trying to pull me away.
"That is my fucking sister back there!" I screamed. "Let me go!"
I stopped trashing in Perry's arms when I saw two cops lead that motherfucker through the aisle.
He was handcuffed. His head was hanging low. There was a fucking gunshot wound in his shoulder.
But if he was shot, then what happened to Emma?!
Where is Emma?!
My heartbeat increased even more, and I almost choked.
I didn't even think about killing the fucker right now.
All I wanted was Emma.
Peters was walking behind the motherfucker. He sighed when he saw me.
"Let him go, Perry." Peters said. "The area is cleared. They are waiting for the ambulance."
I could feel the motherfucker's eyes on me, but I didn't look at him.
I had time to do that. I had time to kill him. I had time to beat the shit out of everyone who put her in danger.
She needed me now.
And I needed her.
I raced through the aisle, almost bringing down the shelves as I passed them.
I made the right turn and froze.
She was laying on the floor, unconscious. The cops were around her, checking her pulse and talking into their walkie-talkies.
I couldn't hear them.
All I saw was her.
I forced myself to move, and I was kneeling next to her in a second. I pulled her into my arms and sobbed.
"What did he do?" I managed to ask one of the cops as I looked up and down her body, searching for injuries.
"He injected her with something." the cop said. "She fainted immediately. Her pulse is weak. The ambulance will be here soon."
I placed her on my lap and leaned her head on my chest. I buried my nose in her hair and let out all the pain I felt.
"Don't leave me, Emma." I sobbed. "Please don't leave me."
I am going to kill you, Derek Wilson. I am going to fucking kill you.
