About five minutes before the dough finished rising, I returned to the kitchen and buttered the sides and bottom of a bread pan.

The dough was taken out of the bowl and separated into 12 equal round pieces. I flattened each piece into rough circles with my hands, dolloped the butter filling into the center of each piece, sprinkled some cheese on top, and folded each circle in half. Each piece was put into the bread pan standing up, and I used the small bit of leftover filling I had to spread on the top of the bread.

"So do we bake it now?" Lionel asked. He came back to help me put the filling in the bread in exchange for more pieces of it.

"No, we have to let it rise a second time," I said, covering the bread pan.

"What!? Why!?" He asked, clearly impatient.

"Don't worry, it will be ready in time for dinner, probably," I said, checking my watch to see the time.

After another 40 minute wait, Lionel again followed me to the kitchen after confirming with me it was finally time to bake the bread.

I let the oven preheat for 5 minutes before uncovering the bread pan and having Lionel put it into the oven.

As the smell of the garlic, butter, and other herbs filled the air, Lionel forced us to head to the garden for some fruits since he was getting hungry. We each pulled a peach off the tree to snack on while watching the bread bake.

30 minutes later, I pointed out the bread.

"It's getting golden on the top," I said. "And it's rising up much higher,"

"I can't wait here any longer," Lionel said, standing up and taking his book. "Call me when it's done! The smell is making me go crazy..."

I laughed at him as he left, and continued on with reading my own book from the library.
