The scene starts off with Sonic and the gang at Seaside Coast. beach. They were having a sandcastle building competition of which Amy was the judge.
Amy began judging as she headed over to Sonic's. "Traditional. Nice, Sonic." She said with a smile.
Knuckles snorted. "How old are our twins? Five?"
Tails looked at him. "I'm eight." He deadpans.
"...You get a free point."
Amy then observed Tails', which looked so identical to Sonic's - albeit is slightly smaller. "Very derivative, Tails."
Sonic snickered. "So much for creativity, copy-fox."
"I can build a better sandcastle than you, Sonic."
Amy turned to Sticks, who was painted in green tribal-like markings with a pair of binoculars, in her own little sand fort. "Sticks, yours just screams fun!"
"Aaaand Knuckles..." She turned to Knuckles and frowned. The red echidna has made merely a small mound of sand and placed a stick in the top.
Knuckles grinned at the pinkette with childish enthusiasm, obviously not noticing the quality difference between his and the others. Amy sighed. "It's so hard to choose a winner."
Carol chuckled. "Did he even try?"
"Apparently not." Cory giggled.
"It probably doesn't matter, Amy." Sonic said.
"Because the beach is the hourglass of nature, and time will wipe clean what we and our hubris have built as everlasting?" Amy guessed.
"No; because of the ginormous storm that's about to hit." Sonic points upwards at the clouds. Dark clouds appear out of nowhere in the sky, blocking the sun and dropping the temperature. A strike of lightning thunders violently from one of the clouds, causing Tails to nearly jump in fright and begins cowering with fear in Sonic's hands.
Even Milla was frighten by the sound and hid under Lilac's seat.
Seeing this, Fiona shook her head. "Bunch of wimps."
"Quick; let's get to my shack!" Sonic cries, standing and holding a shivering Tails.
"You mean you're home that's made of straw with no doors and windows?" Amy questioned with a raised brow. "Yeah no."
"I don't think so." Amy dismisses.
"It's safer in the storm." Sticks says in agreement to Amy's words.
"Is that place up to code?" Knuckles pipes.
"Then it's agreed; we'll go to Amy's." Sonic decides.
Lilac patted Milla on the head and narrowed her eyes. "After what happened to your couch, is that a good idea?"
Sonic nodded in agreement. "Yeah, aren't Tails and Sticks homes stormproof, too? Why does Amy's seem to be the only choice?"
"Her house does look beautiful from what I've seen." Sonia mention. "No offense to your twin, Tails."
"Non taken." The kitsune replied. He could understand why the gang would go to his house and Sticks'... her house is just... not civilized.
The pinkette looks thoughtful at the idea. "That could be fun, I guess. It can be a slumber party! And we'll stay up late, and-" However, when she stopped talking, she noticed that Sonic and the others were gone. "Hey, wait for me!"
The scene changes at Amy's, which is surrounded by the pouring rain. The gang were sitting down on Amy's settee.
"So, it'll be a slumber party. And we'll stay up late, watch movies, eat snacks, play Truth or Dare-" Amy starts to explain, enthusiastically pacing around the room
"Truth! Where are the snacks?" Sonic asked instantly with a smirk.
Amy threw a disapproving look. Does Sonic's twin enjoy annoying her??
"I dare you to get them for us!" Knuckles grinned, reclining coolly into the chair.
Amy sighed. Knuckles is just as bad as Sonic.
"Not sure you guys understand Truth or Dare. But I'd be happy to whip up some hors d'oeuvres." Amy offers.
"You've known them your whole and she still doesn't understand them?" Wave questioned.
Jet shrugged. "It's comedy."
"Hors d'oeuvres? I wanted snacks! I hate this game." Knuckles grouches.
"Here you go!" Amy smiled, assembling a tray of various snacks and placing it on her table. "Quiche lorraine, vegetarian spring rolls, and a delicate assortment of baked Camembert and Brie cheeses on rosemary focaccia toast!" She describes, grandly.
"Yeah!" Everyone cheered and rushed to the table and quickly ate all of the food Amy brought, then swallowed them up simultaneously.
Lilac recoiled in disgust. "Where's D.B when you need him?"
"No!!" Amy didn't care if they were being rude in her own house. She never wants to see that platypus again!
"Yeah, I'm pretty we don't want ot see that guy again." Sonic said in agreement.
"They could've at least saved some for Amy, instead of chowing them down like wild animals." Tails suggested.
"Not bad! Could use some ketchup, though." Knuckles states lazily and Amy groans in frustration.
Another loud clap of thunder was heard, and Tails shrieked, clinging to Sonic. Knuckles grinned at the sight. "Ooh! Lightning phobia pile!"
The red echidna took a leap towards the Sonic and Tails, bouncing off the couch and falling behind it. A second later, something crashed. Knuckles stood up, smiling sheepishly. In his hand was a glass horse. He picked up the other part... a horn. Turned out it was a glassed unicorn.
Lilac flinched. "Let's hope it's not expensive."
"With the house she's living in?? I'm confident it is." Carol stated.
Amy sighed in annoyance. She did her best to keep her cool, which was slowly wearing out "It's okay. A glass horse is just as good as a glass unicorn, right?"
"It's comin' down pretty hard out there." Sticks said, glancing at the window to the torrential rainfall. "It can't get any worse."
"It's time for arts and crafts!" Amy pipes with a smile, happy at the prospect she may just save her slumber party from disasters.
"I spoke too soon." Sticks grumbled unhappy.
"Yes you did." Anti-Tails said.
"Out of ALL the episodes we've watched, this one has to be boring." Scourge retorted.
"Not unless Eggman-" Tails began.
The human genius shushed the yellow fox. "Don't ruin this for me!"
Shadow was inward hoping Eggman would show. He didn't want an episode where a sleep over was taking place.
Soon, Amy is teaching the group how to assemble a wicker centrepiece. "Using a sprig of holly and just a few everyday household items, that you have to special order from a craft catalog, you too can create a lovely rustic wicker centerpiece.
Spade rolled his eyes. "Make up your mind. Which is it?"
"How're everyone else's centerpieces coming along?" Amy looked up and frowned.
The gang were decorating Knuckles, a paper rainbow chain around his neck, holly on his head, and strapping yellow streamers on him and sparkles and glitter.
Cory chuckled. "You look ridiculous."
Knuckle doesn't say anything.
Sonic smirked as he placed a rose in Knuckles' mouth. "And now for the pièce de résistance..." The echidna let out a sneeze, shooting the decorations everywhere.
The echidna rolled his eyes. If his twin was this allergic to flowers, maybe he shouldn't be around nature.
Amy stood up angrily, viewing the mess on the floor despairingly. "Look at this mess you made!"
"Uh, don't you mean, "look at this art we made?" Knuckles corrects, striking his former pose, whilst the others smirk at him.
Amy was starting to lose her patience. "Okay. This is okay. It's time for one of my favorite party activities... clean-up time!"
Everyone flinches at that.
Sonic winced. "Alternatively, YOU could clean it up. They're your guests."
"Guest that made a mess on my twin's floor." Amy corrected.
"Knuckles was the one who sneezed the decoration around!"
"He wouldn't have if your twin put that rose in his mouth." Knuckles points out.
"Then I guess we're all at fault here."
Knuckles glanced at him. "Not really."
"Come on, Amy," Sonic complains, looking crazed with boredom. "We want to do something fun, like pole-vaulting over the couch or shot-putting Tails across your living room..."
"Didn't you and Knuckles already have your fun in her house?" Silver question.
"They're delinquents, Silver. They won't learn their lesson." Blaze comment
"No! You guys have made a big enough mess already. Don't touch anything, don't do anything, just sit there quietly until the storm passes!"
"Why don't you just put on the T.V? That'll shut them up." Spade groused.
"Or she could just kick them out." Shadow suggested.
A ding sound is heard from the kitchen and Amy grin. "Now who's ready for potholders?"
The others groan.
Later, the gangs are sitting around board out of their minds.
"There's got to be something to do around here..." Sonic sighs then absentmindedly opens a drawer and discovers a hand bound manuscript. "Huh?" He picks it up and inspects the cover. "Well well well. "A Rose Without Thorns: a play in three acts." And guess who wrote..."
"ME?!" Knuckles asked enthusiastically.
"No, not you, Amy." Sonic smirked.
Lilac frowned. "I know she's your friend but, isn't that an invasion of privacy?"
"I'm sure Ames wouldn't mind." Sonic protested, by seeing the problem.
The water dragon glanced at the blue hero. "If she wanted your twins to read her private life, sh would've told them by now."
"People can be extremely sensitive when their personal business is invaded." Neera added.
Gong crossed his arms. "If she didn't want her privacy to be invaded, she's doing a bad job." He eyed the book. "I don't see a padlock on it."
"Whatever is in her book it's no business to their or ours to snoop in." Cory came in defense of Amy's twin.
Carol whistled and grinned. "Someone's gonna get a hammer to the face."
Sonic cringed. He hoped his twin would put that book away before Amy comes back.
Sonic clears his throat and begins reading. "An empty stool sits under a spotlight as the lovely, charismatic and super popular Annie Rose appears from the curtain and pours herself a glass of lemonade."
"Annie Rose?? Who the heck is Annie?" Knuckles asked.
"Obviously Amy." Shadow answered, rolling his eyes.
Tails raised a brow in confusion. "So she wrote a book, changing her name in the process?"
"Seems like it." Sonic replied.
Sticks took the book next. "''Twas years since I first met the mysterious stranger, the one with the fur, the color of the ocean.' Sticks looked up from the book and glanced around the room. "Who do we know with ocean-colored fur?"
"Obviously me." Sonic didn't know if the badger was color or just plain dumb. Probably both. "Also the ocean isn't blue. It's silver."
The psychokinesis hedgehog glanced at the blue speedster. "The ocean doesn't HAVE any color, Sonic. It's just water."
"Then what about the black water."
"Same thing."
"Me?" Knuckles grinned.
The red echidna breathes in and out.
"Well, it can't be me. While I am mysterious, I'm more of a royal blue." Sonic said confidently, taking the script from Sticks.
Shadow scoffed. "You?? Royal blue faker??" That blue doesn't look anything like royalty
"What's the difference??" Torque asked, confused. "Isn't there a common misconception that royal blue and ocean blue are interchangeable terms for the same color??"
"Uhhh, English??" Carol pleaded.
Tails sighed. "He's asking if they're the same color."
"Milla hummed. "Well, royal blue is far more saturated, while navy blue is a darker shade. The two colors can look great when paired together as an analogous color combination." She glanced at the blue blue and scanned his color. "However, I think Sonic's is more of a cobalt blue to be."
Tails scanned his brother. "I don't know. He looks more like a sky blue to me." He then asks. "Sonic, what color are you."
Before the blue speedster could answer, Knuckles cut him off. "Who cares? Let's just move on."
Sonic glanced at Tails. "We'll finish this up later, buddy."
"Okay."
"'Sonar enters, pitter-pattering across the stage in his scarlet loafers. Sonar:'" Sonic cleared his throat and began reading. "'Hey Annie! I'm gonna play volleyball. I only play against myself because nobody else can keep up.'" Sonic looked from the script. "See? That doesn't sound anything like me! He's an egomaniac, but without the incredible awesomeness to back it up."
"That's you." Lilac deadpans at the hedgehog's irony.
Sticks took the book. "'Thump, thump, thump. A knock at the door like the sound of someone big and strong, but unable to figure out a simple doorknob. Annie Rose sashays to the door and answers, revealing Shoulders, the hulking dullard of a farmhand.'"
"Me?" Knuckles said, less enthusiastic than earlier.
"'Shoulders strides towards Annie but is distracted by a shiny object.'" Sticks read.
"It doesn't say that!" Knuckles snapped in annoyance. "Gimme!" He took the script from Sticks and gasped at the shiny buttons on the book. He frowned. "Wait. What was I about to do again?"
"To be honest, I thought the badger would be the Shoulders person." Spade admitted.
Tails took the script book. "'But before Annie can reply, a naïve young fox named Taylor enters, cowering beneath the legs of Sonar." Hey, I don't cower!" Tails snapped, and a clap of thunder boomed outside, and Tails shrieked. Tails hurried under Sonic's legs. He growled, glaring at the sky. "Curse you, irony!" He shake his fist.
The kitsune cringed. Amy has a weird taste of naming people.
Sticks once again seizes the script. "'"Just when all hope is lost, enter Twigs, the crazy-eyed feral badger. 'Miss Annie, the robot apocalypse is nigh! I intercepted a transmission from my toaster!'"
"She knows her friends pretty well." Lilac said.
"Creepily too well." Carol points out.
Sticks frowned, putting the book down. "This is just ridiculous! Everyone knows when the robo-apocalypse arrives, it's the can openers that would transmit signals! Toaster!"
Knuckles deadpans. "She says it as if it's suppose to make a difference."
Andy inwardly shrugged. 'Nobody likes Hotel Mario anyway.'
Tails raised a brow. How can manual can openers transmit signals? They don't use electricity.
Hearing something clatter, the gang turned to see a furious Annie-er-I mean Amy Rose glaring at them. "WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING?!" She screamed, marching up to them, "You're reading my play?! That's an invasion of my privacy!"
"We have the right to read it, since we happen to be all the characters!" Sonic defends.
"It's not based on you guys!"
"Theoretically, it is." Tails pointed out.
"Oh, no?" Sticks smirks knowingly. She pulled out a spoon and held it in front of Knuckles, whose face lighten up.
"Oh! Gimme gimme gimme!" The echidna cried, chasing after the spoon. When he grabs it from a smug Sticks, he realises and glares at her sternly. "Oh, and like Twigs isn't exactly like you!"
Sticks leaned against the counters. "She'd be wiped out by the Robo-apocalypse in two seconds, taking advice from toasters! " She hissed, turning to Amy's secateurs. "Can you believe these people?"
"Guys, stop fighting!" Tails cuts in. "Right, Sonic?"
"Was that you talking, "Taylor"?" Knuckles mocks. "I couldn't see you in Sonic's shadow!"
Sonic laughed. "Good one, Knux."
"At least I'm not an egomaniac, "Sonar"!" Tails snapped at Sonic.
"That character wasn't like me at all! He was nearly as awesome as I am!" Sonic brags.
Fed up, Amy glared at the group. "You know what's not awesome? Rummaging through my drawers and reading my personal manuscript!"
"You should've put it in a better spot!" Amy groused.
Tails flinched at their twin's argument. "Everyone is getting more and more annoyed with each other."
"They'' get over it." Shadow assured, nonchalantly.
"When this storm blows over maybe we should all go our separate ways!" Knuckles grumbled at the group.
"Why wait? I'm going to the kitchen, where I will make and consume all the dainty hors d'oeuvres I want. Without ketchup!" Amy snarled, harshly snatching the script away from Sonic and storms off.
"FINE!" Everyone else yelled.
Carol blinked. "Well that escalated quickly."
"It wouldn't have happened if Sonic's twin didn't read his friend's book." Lilac pointed out.
Later, everyone had gone their separate ways around the room, having built their own forts. Sonic's was made from book, Tails' had its own CCTV Camera, Amy was in the kitchen having pilled a bunch of saucepans for privacy, Sticks hid in a large flower pot dressed in camouflage and clutching her pair of binoculars and Knuckles was in a tent made from blankets which collapses as soon as he tries to crawl out.
Rouge couldn't help but giggle. "This has to be the cutest scene in the show!"
Knuckles snarled. "Do NOT call him cute."
"Jealous?" Sonic teased.
"In your dreams, Sanic."
The scene changes to Tails knocking on a door disguised as a pile of books. Sonic pulls them away and gives the fox a superior, snooty look. "What business brings you all the way from Workbenchia to the Kingdom of Television?"
"The new Wolf Sidekick special is about to come on." The fox explained, holding a necklace. "I come bearing this necklace made of the finest paperclips. I offer it in exchange for some screen time."
"Your paperclip necklace pleases me." He snatches the necklace. "I grant you... two minutes!"
Tails smiles slightly. It seems that Sonic is the only one with all the entertainment.
The scene changes to Knuckles, who held a blanket over to Amy's fort. "Lady Rose of House Kitchen, in exchange for safe passage to your refrigerator, I offer you these blankets, that you may be warm."
"Knuckles, don't let the fact that I built my own fort fool you into thinking I'm playing this ridiculous game," Amy grumbled at him.
"Then why did you build it in the first place?" Spade asked, deadpanned.
"To get some privacy away from the others." Shadow answered.
The echidna slumps his arms in annoyance. "Oh come on... I'm so hungry! I'll even eat those horse doctors you force-fed us earlier." He said pleadingly.
"I don't need blankets. It's not even that cold. Go away!"
Knuckles flipped the blanket over his shoulder, grumbling as he walked off.
Amy shook her head. This wasn't going to end...
Knuckles reaches a knob and turns it, which releases cold air from the air condition. Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails are watching Wolf Sidekick on TV. On the screen, Wolf picks a shoehorn out of the box and squeezes making squeaky noises.
"Shoehorn! Hey-oh!" He chucks it behind him then looks back in the box. "Let's see what else we got in here." He rummages in his box and finds a lamp.
Sonic looks at Tails, unimpressed. "You like this?"
"He's so relatable. He speaks for all sidekicks." The fox defends.
"It looks so old-fashioned. How can they be ahead in technology but behind in T.V shows?" Amy questions.
Simultaneously, both Sonic and Tails both start covering their arms and shivering.
"Brr... it's getting cold in here." Sonic says, rubbing his arms.
"Blame my twin." Knuckles rolled his eyes, knowing his double was the cause of this temperature.
Tails pipes an idea. "Maybe I can build some sort of heater back in Workbenchia."
They made it to the kit's fort, but they were stopped by a voice. "Halt! Who goes there?!" It was Sticks'.
"Sticks, get out of my fort!" Tails exclaims in annoyance.
"Not yours anymore. I took it in a daring raid. Actually, no one was defending it. But still, Workbenchia is mine. Now go!" She yelled from inside the fort. She then shuddered. "But before you do, where's the heat in this joint?"
"The heat!" The fox smirks. "Of course! Worry not friends, I know where to go."
They turned to a corner where Knuckles' blanket fort was built. Tails glanced at them. "It'll be a long, perilous journey, so we must make haste." He announced in a princely manner and they took two steps forward and stopped at Knuckles' tent.
"Some journey." Jet mumbled.
"Knuckles, we need blankets. In exchange, I'll let you watch TV." Sonic offers.
"Television! Who needs it?" The red echidna scoffs, poking out his head then retreating back inside.
"None of you would exist without it." Carol comment.
"Don't. Ever. Say. That. Again." Sonic hisses dangerously.
"Come on, Knuckles." Sticks pleaded. "It's cold, and you've got all the blankets."
Knuckles walked out, wrapped in blankets like an ancient Greek tunic. He glared at them. "Fools! Your offerings mean nothing to me! The thermostat is under my control, and only munchies will end this winter. Heh. Who's the dullard now?" He asked with closed eyes. He turned to the group. "No, seriously. I'd like to know."
"You are!" Knuckles, Shadow, Scourge and Spade chorused.
"If you think I'm getting into your little ploy for food you're wrong!" Amy snapped angrily from the kitchen. "Now turn off the air-conditioning!"
"NEVER!" Knuckles cries.
"For too long we've allowed Knuckles to control that thermostat with an iron fist! We must topple our oppressor from his cushiony perch. Join with me! And you'll never want for comfy blankets again!" Sonic hollered, as if speaking to a military army
"FREEDOM!" Tails and Sticks cried, raising their fists. They grabbed pillows and knocked down Knuckles' tent.
Knuckles glared at them. "So, it's war you want, eh?"
"Are they seriously gonna...?" Carol began.
Knuckles brings out his cushion and hits Tails on the head with it. They all engage in a pillow fight.
Cory snorted. "They are."
"So childish." Amy mumbled.
"Eat feathers, numbskull!" Tails yelled.
"I find that offensive." Wave retorted.
"If I can eat feathers, who needs the refrigerator?!" Knuckles responded.
"Excuse you??" Jet sneered. Another smart tidbit from the team idiot.
"Take that!" Sonic smacks Sticks with his cushion.
"Hey, watch it!" She exclaims and they start a pillow fight with their own teammate, chasing each other around the room.
Tails and Knuckles do the same, but Knuckles slips and falls onto a pile of books. Sticks knocks over Sonic's fortress. Meanwhile, they all begin laughing. Eventually, the seriousness of the charade is replaced by joy.
After a few moments of chasing each other with pillows and accidentally knocking down Amy's furniture, the storm was soon gone.
Sonic grinned at the sun. "Hey, the storm's over. Yo, Amy. Let's head back to the beach!"
Amy walked up to join them but frowned at the messy house. "I can't believe you guys. You criticize my snacks but eat them anyway, make a mockery of arts and crafts time, and make fun of my play. And now, you're gonna leave without cleaning up?!"
The pinkette modded. She had every right to be angry.
Amy walked up to the door, jiggling its nob. She grunts in frustration when it wouldn't open. Unleashing her hammer, she bashes the door off its hinges with a single blow and walks calmly out.
Sonic winced. She'd never seen Amy that angry. Her wrath has always been frightening, but she was more disappointed and melancholy. Somehow, that's worse than her getting angry.
"I think we owe someone an apology." Sonic said, turning to the rest of the team, feeling the same guilt.
"Me?" Knuckles asked.
"Amy's right. We took things too far." Tails said.
"No. You think??" Knuckles rolled his eyes.
"You know, Amy's play wasn't all that bad. Actually, I kind of liked Twigs!" Sticks grinned, turning to Amy's secateurs. "And we can overlook the toaster thing as a youthful indiscretion." She added, patting the tool tenderly.
"Shoulders wasn't so bad either." Knuckles said. "I mean, he's no "me". Neither am I." Knuckles hummed, looking up thoughtfully. "Or is it?"
"Yeah. It's almost as if... they were cartoon versions of us." Sonic concludes. He grins in realization."I know how we can make it up with Amy!"
"But not cleaning up or apologizing directly and instead publicizing her play!" Amy groused. "You guys should know much better than this!"
At night, the scene shows Sonic walking a blindfolded Amy to a bench, and he smiled at her. "Come on, Ames. You're gonna love it."
"Unless it's a clean house with an unbroken unicorn, I'm not interested." Amy deadpans. However, as soon as Sonic took the blindfold off, she gasped at the theater stage in front of her eyes. She looked around and saw Bygone's citizens grinning at her, some waving.
Amy's shocked eyes trailed to Sonic, who began the play's introduction. "Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you all for coming to the premiere performance of "A Rose Without Thorns". Written by our very own, very talented, Amy Rose!"
Amy still looked shocked as the audience clapped.
The curtain opened, and Dave, who is wearing an Amy costume and holding a hammer made of cardboard, walked miserably towards a jug of drink. He pours the drink onto his glass.
The pinkette frowned. She knows they're trying to cheer her twin up, but like this?? Aren't there any suitable female characters like Zooey or Perci available. Not to mention, they were too lazy to get a costume designer or even a backdrop.
Dave poured himself a glass of lemonade and recited the lines. "It was years since I first met that mysterious stranger with fur the color of the ocean."
Sonic popped up, giving the actor of Annie a flirty look. "Hey, Annie. I'm gonna go play volleyball. I can only play against myself because nobody else can keep up, but you can watch it if you like. What am I saying? Of course, you'd like to."
Sonic wanted to throw up.
The scene changed to a storm, and Dave drove the ship. Sonic put a hand on Dave's shoulder. "Annie, let me take the wheel. You'll never make it through the storm!"
"A woman could do anything a man can do." Dave wines back.
All the cast stood together onstage, Dave at the front. "And I will sing it from the mountaintops if I have to! This rose has no thorns!" He holds out his arms and the Villagers and an ecstatic Amy applaud and cheer.
The actors link hands in a row and bow in response, then beckon Amy.
Fiona was relieved. "Thank god that's over."
Amy inwardly agreed with the female fox. The scene was a bit... cringe.
The pinkette walks onstage, smiling. "What an amazing reception. I'd like to thank..."
A loud thunderclap interrupts and there is a loud violent crash of lightning. Tails cowers in Knuckles' hands.
Sonic glanced at the others. "Whoa! Who wants to go to Amy's House to ride out the storm?"
"Me?" Knuckles mutters with a smile.
Sonic and the others run off, as do the audience back at their homes before they were caught in the deluge. Amy is isolated on the stage and groans, following unhappily. The screen goes dark.
"So everyone is going to Amy's house??" Tails asked. "Oh boy."
Theo shook his head. "No. Sonic and the gang are. The rest are going home."
Amy sighs. "And after all of that. Wasted." She grumbles and glances at Theo. "How many episodes are there?"
"Two more."
Knuckles perked. "Two??"
Scourge was relieved. "That means we're almost out of her."
Sonic nodded. "Then let's not waste any more time."
Lucy nodded and pressed the button to the next episode.
