"And when I do this?" His hand slipped between my legs and his lips stuck to my neck. "Do you like it?"
This guy is really not good at sexy conversation. "What do you think?" I moaned.
I felt his hand already under the hem of my panties when we both suddenly froze.
"Fuck." I jumped out of bed when I heard the doorbell. "Get dressed." I instructed Jake. Or was it Jace? I can't remember.
"What? Why?" He frowned. "Whoever it is, they'll wait." He said with a playful smile and reached out for me.
"He won't wait." I bent down to grab his pants and tossed them to him. "You have to get out."
"Is he your boyfriend?" He raised an eyebrow.
"What?" I frowned. "Hell no. It's someone worse." I heard the bell ring again. "Shit."
"Okay, okay." He swung his legs off the edge of the bed and started to get dressed.
I'm so incredibly stupid, I completely forgot he was coming.
I put on a t-shirt that had been lying on the floor since probably last Tuesday and a pair of shorts that were lying on the chair.
"I can't find my shirt." I rolled my eyes when I heard him again. He's starting to piss me off.
"Here." I threw it at him. "Stay here." I ordered to him and left my room. I walked through the smaller living room, which was connected to the kitchen, to the door.
The doorbell rang again, and this time there was also a knock on the door. I quickly fixed my hair and opened the front door.
"It was about time." I heard a familiar voice. "Where the hell have you been for so long?"
"Nice to see you too." I laughed. "I missed you big brother."
"Me too." He reached out and hugged me. He squeezed me tightly before I wrapped my arms around his neck. "You look...different. Black hair suits you."
Oh, I forgot. The last time Theo saw me was when I still had my natural blonde hair.
I can't even remember the last time we saw each other in real life. He calls me a few times a year and sends money, that's all our communication.
He never shows up for the holidays, but he texts me and says he's sorry he can't come because of work. Yes, because of work. And what does he do? I don't know. Does he have someone? No clue. Does he realize he has a sister? I doubt it.
I stopped trying to contact him a long time ago, it was in vain. I was wasting my energy. I've come to terms with the fact that once he's gone, he's not coming back.
But now he's here. He called me out of the blue and asked if I had a free bed where he could sleep for a few days. At first I thought it was a joke, but my brother doesn't know what that is or how to even spell it.
I can't believe he was serious. I expected that he would cancel it at the last minute, but it doesn't look like that now.
"Well thank you." I laughed.
"Did I wake you up?" He looked me up and down.
"What? No. No way." I pulled away from him. "It's already..." I took a few steps back to have a view of the clock in the kitchen. "Twelve." I looked at the clock in surprise. "You're late."
"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "You're the one to talk."
"Would you mind if you went around the corner to buy us a cup of coffee?" I said, not forgetting the fact that I have a half-naked guy in my room.
"Right now?"
"Yes." I smiled. "I'll take this from you." I took the travel bag from his hand and put it in the apartment. "Tell Ashley it's for me. She'll know what. Thanks." Before he could say anything else, I closed the door. Maybe it was slightly rude, but I need him gone for a while.
I went to the door of my room and went inside. I found Jake/Jace sitting on the bed, exactly as I had left him. He still had no shirt on, and no shoes.
What was he doing here the whole time? Was he looking at himself in the mirror? He looks like that type of guy.
"You need to get out. Now." I walked up to him and grabbed his toned arms. I now understand why I dragged him here. Wow.
"Are you sure?" He resisted verbally, but walked with me as I dragged him to his shoes, which I buried in his chest.
"One hundred percent."
With his t-shirt and shoes in his hands, he walked ahead of me to the front door.
"You know, you're not like the others I've slept with." He said along the way.
"That's good." I can imagine what kind of women he was with based on where I found him yesterday.
"I'm serious." He stopped just outside the door and turned to me.
He was almost gone. I was so close to getting him out of here.
"You have a beautiful body and you are also smart."
I'm not so sure about that, since I brought him here, but fine, whatever he says. Just please get out!
"We could do it again sometime. I'm not much for relationships, but I'd think about it with you."
"Yeah, sure. I'll get back to you." Not even if there's snow in hell, but keep dreaming, boy.
"Sounds good." He smiled and leaned in to kiss me, but I reached for the handle and opened the door.
Jake/Jace pulled away but stopped when he noticed a person standing in the doorway.
I heard a cough. "My wallet is in my bag." I heard my brother's voice.
Fucking shit.
"See you later, Maya." A half-naked Jake/Jace said as he walked past my confused brother.
"Later, Jace." I smiled at him.
"Jake." He corrected me.
Close one. It was fifty fifty.
"Of course, Jake." I laughed awkwardly. "Later." I looked at his toned back as he left for the elevator. Rather there than on Theo.
"Coffee, huh?" He laughed and walked past me into the apartment.
"Don't judge me." I closed the door behind us. "You weren't any better at my age."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I was a sweetheart." He bent down for his bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"And I'm a saint." I snorted and headed to the other bedroom with Theo on my heels. "The closet is empty and there are clean sheets on the bed." I opened the door and entered the room. The last time I was here was when I was helping Anastasia, my ex-roommate, to pack.
"How long have you lived here alone?" He walked past me and put the bag on the bed.
"A few months. My roommate moved in with her boyfriend."
I think that was the biggest mistake she could have made. Move into an apartment with her boyfriend of two months? It's only a matter of time before they pull each other's hair out and she comes back. Whether they love each other or not.
"So your couch is free." He acknowledged.
"Yes, why?" I looked at him suspiciously. What is he up to with my couch?
"I know it's last minute, but I didn't know he was going to go with me."
"What are you talking about?" I frowned.
He exhaled heavily. "Would you mind if Sebastian slept here?" He turned to me with a pleading expression.
"Who the hell is Sebastian and why is he supposed to be sleeping on my couch?"
"Sebastian Acker." He said it as if I should know who he is.
"If that's not a dog name, my answer is no." I crossed my arms over my breasts. "He can go to the hotel."
"Maya..." Before he could say anything else, I heard the doorbell ring.
"Are you kidding me?" I looked at him in disbelief. "You've been here five seconds and you're already pissing me off." I left the room and headed for the front door.
Maybe I should have let Theo handle it.
I realized this too late as I opened the door and my eyes fell on a guy who had either fallen from heaven or crawled out of hell since looking like this is inhuman.
His hands were almost as big as my head and I'm pretty sure he would have been able to squash it with one simple movement. There were black tattoos on his arms, which I didn't have time to look at properly. I looked up from his chest to his face.
You've got to be kidding me. Oh hell no.
How could I forget that this idiot existed?
Brown hair fell into his eyes, which were currently traveling over my body. He had a slight stubble on his sharp jaw. His mouth was slightly open and his eyebrows rose a few centimeters.
"Well shit." He swallowed hard. "I think I'm at the wrong door." He cleared his throat.
"I'm sure you are." I smiled and tried to close the door. Somebody get this guy out of here.
"Maya, come on." Theo stopped the door before it hit Sebastian's face, and he opened it wide.
"Is this your little sister?" He looked at me in surprise. "Mimi? Is that really you?" He frowned.
I'm not a bad person just because I want to scratch out his eyes and pull out all his hair, am I?
No one had called me Mimi in years and I was fine with it. I hate being called that.
"I have to disappoint you, my couch is not for rent. Looks like you'll have to get a hotel. I'm terribly sorry." I said with a cold expression on my face.
"Mimi Carter." He smiled. Is he stupid or something? Of course he is, why am I even asking. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Maya." I corrected him. "And what happened? I grew up. Maybe you should try it. Best if it's far, far away from Seattle."
"Maya, please. Can you at least try to be nicer?" Theo, whom I had almost forgotten, spoke.
"Look, I have no problem with you staying here." I pointed at Theo. "But he's not staying here." I shifted my gaze to Acker. "This is my apartment, and if you don't like my decision, you can leave with him. Your choice. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get ready for work. He better not be here when I get back." I turned and started walking to my room. I closed the door behind me and stood there for a while while I listened to the voices from the living room.
I haven't seen Theo in a few years and suddenly he's here with Acker? What the hell is going on?
The last memory I have of him is with his tongue around some blonde's neck and his hand under her skirt on the couch at our parents' house while they were gone. It's enough to put me in therapy.
He and Theo were inseparable. They went to every party together and always returned a day later completely fucked up. Acker was not a good influence on my brother. He is the biggest manwhore I have ever known. And believe me, I know a lot of them. Plus, sometimes I look in the mirror.
I never saw him without some woman on his arm. A tight waist, big breasts and a butt that was definitely fake. I'm pretty sure kissing one of them was like kissing a plastic doll. It didn't seem like he ever minded it though.
He looks exactly like he did all those years ago. I bet he hasn't changed at all. He turns around for every skirt he sees.
And now I'm a hypocrite.
As if I don't do the same. But I'm certainly not worse than him.
I have rules and I know when to say no. I doubt he would ever turn anyone down.
After a few minutes, I left the room. To my surprise, I found Acker and Theo on my couch. God knows what diseases it has now. I'll have to burn it.
"I thought I made myself clear." I grabbed their attention when I spoke up.
"Didn't you say you were going to work?" Theo frowned as he scanned me from head to toe.
"Yes, why?" I looked at him confused.
"Nothing, I just..."
"Where do you work dressed like this?" Acker interrupted him.
"Oh God." I rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen, which was on the right side of the front door and opposite the living room where they were sitting.
Yes, I look like a homeless person in big black sweatpants and a black hoodie, but this is not my work outfit. I have it in my backpack.
I will return home when it will be dark and cold, so I have to change clothes there.
And where is there? Eddie's. It's the best bar in all of Seattle. And not only because it pays the staff well.
I've been working there as a bartender since I moved here. It was my first job and I'm still working there.
"So where do you work? I doubt you can pay for all this yourself if you're begging on the street."
I clenched my jaw tight. "Shut your mouth before I shut it for you, Acker." I turned to them.
"Whoa." He put his hands in a defensive gesture. "It was just a joke."
"At least some things don't change. Your humor is as lame as it was years ago."
"Enough." Theo spoke. "Maya, can you try to be nice? And Sebastian, keep your bullshit to yourself. Why don't you try to get along?"
"You're funny." I laughed. "I have to go or I'll be late, when I get back and he's still here I'll kick you both out."
One more since we're only at the beginning ;)
