I never thought I'd end up with someone like Acker.

But I have to say, I don't mind it. Mainly because he's making me breakfast half-naked and I can watch him from the table.

At this rate, I'll have my lips bitten off. But I can't stop.

He looks yummy.

And he's mine.

My boyfriend. For several days already.

I already told Julie, who was even more excited than I was, and promised to come sometime and give her the details.

"I was thinking we could go somewhere."

"In this weather?" I frowned because it's raining outside like it hasn't rained in years and the rain wants to catch up with everything at once.

"I didn't mean outside, but away from the city. It would do us good." He said while putting the eggs on the plates.

"And where do you want to take me, Mr. Acker?" I laughed as he placed a plate in front of me and sat down.

"Anywhere you want." He shrugged.

"Sounds good." I ate the first bite. "Las Vegas can be cool."

"Too many people." He shook his head with his mouth full.

"So if you don't want people, we'll go to the Sahara."

He looked at me irritated and I just laughed.

"We'll think about it when we're full. I can't think when I'm hungry."

"I noticed." I hit him on the shoulder, which made him laugh.

"Idiot." But I couldn't stop smiling.

While we ate we joked like we were an old couple. I can't believe this is the guy I couldn't stand a few months ago. It's unreal.

After we finished eating, we moved to the living room and decided to spend the day there. The weather hasn't calmed down yet and I have a feeling that we won't see the sun today.

Sometimes I fell asleep during the show, and when I woke up, Acker was so distracted that he didn't even notice me staring at him.

I should stop it.

I slowly straightened up, which caught his attention. "Where are you going?" He asked as I pulled away from him.

"Toilet." I laughed. "Calm down." I patted his shoulder and threw off the blanket that he probably covered me with since I wasn't wearing it when I fell asleep.

When I was done, I stood in front of the mirror. I was looking at the person who was looking back at me and I didn't recognize them.

I'm snuggling on the couch with a guy who isn't just a one-off. There is something more between us and feelings got involved.

An unpleasant feeling was hiding somewhere in my chest. It was fear.

I shook my head and pushed myself away from the sink.

Stop thinking about it, Maya. You're happy.

I went back to the couch and into Acker's arms.

"Come on, lie down." He took a pillow from behind his back and put it on his legs, he patted it and I happily lay down. He pulled the blanket up to my shoulders and ran his fingers through my hair.

I think I found my safe place.

"Sorry." He said as his cell phone started ringing and he had to move to pick it up from the table. "Yes?"

I sat down and fixed my hair.

"What, when?" He frowned as if it was something important. "Yes, of course, message me. Mhm. Got it. Thanks." He hung up and I have to say, I've probably never seen a faster conversation on the phone.

"You all right?"

"I asked Lyssa to find Mason." I swallowed hard at his name. "She found him."

"Okay and?" Am I missing something here?

"And?" He raised an eyebrow. "I'm going after him." He stood up.

"Wait, what?" What the hell is that saying?

"I'm going after him." He repeated.

"No, you're not." I threw off the blanket and stood up. "Call the police and let them know, but you're not going anywhere." I walked up to him.

"Maya..."

"No." I interrupted him. "He's dangerous. If he's my stalker, God knows what he's capable of. He's not right in the head."

"Listen to me." He reached for my hand, but I pulled away.

"No, you listen to me. You're not going anywhere. Look outside. You want to drive? You can barely see six feet in front of you. Leave it to the police. I'm sure Mr. Johnson can handle it without you."

"And what are they going to do? What if they don't have evidence? They're going to let him go."

"And what do you want to do? Shoot a bullet between his eyes?" I frowned and his silence was the answer. "Oh God." I ran my hands through my hair and walked to the left and back.

"He hurt you, Maya. He'll do it again if no one stops him."

"And why does that someone have to be you?" I threw up my hands. "He hurt me and what's to stop him from hurting you?" I pointed at him.

Is he really serious now? No, because he doesn't think at all.

"I can take care of myself."

"You can't be serious right now." I shook my head. "Are you even listening to yourself?"

"I will take care of it." He said between his teeth.

"No, because you're not going anywhere!" I screamed, slightly surprising myself. "Something can happen to you and..."

"I'm not Christian!"

That silenced me.

I saw that he regretted those words the moment he realized what he had just done.

"Wow." I snorted.

"Maya..." He walked towards me, but I took a step back.

"No." I shook my head. "You know what? You want to go see him? Suit yourself. And don't bother coming back." I slipped past him and took my car keys from the line.

"Maya wait."

"Screw you, Sebastian!" I turned around at the door. "I told you about him and you..." My voice broke. "Fuck you." With tears in my eyes, I turned and walked out of my apartment. I slammed the door behind me and headed for the elevator.

As the door started to close, Sebastian was just coming out, shouting my name before the door closed.

With tears running down my cheeks, I got out of the elevator and headed for the exit.

"Maya, I don't recommend you go outside in this weather it's..." I raised my hand at the doorman, which silenced him, and ran out of the building into the cold rain.

Within seconds I was all wet. I was right, you can barely see two steps away.

I got to my car and got in. While I was backing up, I saw Sebastian walking out the door.

He's too late

I don't even know where I'm going. I just drive straight. I have the wipers on, but it's raining too hard. It's hard to see and oncoming cars can't be seen until they're right next to me.

The road started to merge, but I saw a sign on the right and knew where I was. I turned right, on the way out of town.

I will stop at some motel. I thought to myself.

I'll wait out this rain there and then go to Julie's. Or to work. Anywhere but Sebastian. Not now.

I trusted him, so I told him about Christian. He has no right to talk about him.

I jerked the steering wheel when a car almost hit me.

Shit, this is dangerous. I should stop. I'm too upset to drive.

I breathed deeply, but I couldn't calm down.

My cell phone suddenly started ringing in my pocket, so I took it out. It was Sebastian. I canceled it and threw the phone on the passenger seat. It started ringing again, but I could barely hear it through the rain hitting the windshield and windshield wipers.

Another tear slid down my cheek.

"What am I doing?" I said to myself.

I shook my head and closed my eyes for a second.

I swear it was only a second.

And when I opened my eyes again, the two headlights of a car were pointing straight at me. Out of reflex, I yanked the steering wheel to the right and went off the road.

The grass was wet and there was mud everywhere so it was hard to brake. But I was lucky, I stopped completely when I hit a tree, the airbag went off and I lost consciousness.

Maya is gone.

She got into the car and just drove away. I know I screwed up, but she said the roads are dangerous herself.

"Come on, Maya, pick up." I walked back to the apartment to get my car keys and follow her.

She canceled on me the first time, but then just let it ring.

"Come on Maya." I entered the apartment and went to the counter where my keys were supposed to be. "What the hell." I frowned when they weren't there.

She took them.

"Shit, Maya!" I slammed my hand into the line and didn't care that I almost broke it.

I dialed her number again but no answer.

What is she doing? It's dangerous. The roads are slippery and you can't even see the road properly.

I wrote her messages, but she didn't even look at them.

Shit. This is my fault.

If anything happens to her, it's my fault. Why couldn't I be quiet? I didn't mean what I said. I didn't want to hurt her, it just came out of me.

"Pick up." I marched around the apartment, one hand in my hair. "Come on." I insisted.

I felt like I couldn't breathe.

I canceled the call and went to contacts. I clicked on Theo's name and called him, he picked up right away.

"Maya is gone." I blurted out. "I don't know where she is. She took her car and left. The roads are dangerous and..."

"Where are you?" He cut me off.

"At Maya's apartment, she also took my car keys. I don't know what to do." I swear I felt my heart pounding in my throat.

"Stay where you are, I'll be there in a minute." He canceled and I was just stupidly looking at the mobile screen.

"Hurry up," I whispered.

*****

I don't know how long it has been. I couldn't keep myself on my feet anymore, so I sat down on the couch.

My leg kept jumping and I couldn't calm down. I called her again about a hundred times, but she didn't pick up.

I jumped to my feet when I heard a knock. I was hoping it was Maya, but when I opened the door, Theo was there.

"Did she pick up?" I could see the concern in his eyes.

I couldn't find the words, I just shook my head.

"Shit." He entered the apartment and took his phone out of his pocket. He dialed some number, I assume Maya's, and waited for her to pick up.

She didn't.

"Where is her laptop or computer?"

"Um, she doesn't have one. The old one was broken and she hasn't bought a new one yet." I got out of myself.

"It probably wouldn't even help. I doubt anything is visible on the cameras in this weather. Shit, Sebastian, what happened?"

"We had a fight and she just ran away." And it's my fault.

"Fuck." His jaw clenched and he took a deep breath. "I almost crashed when I went here. The roads are almost impassable. You can barely see the cars going the opposite way."

"Please don't say that." I closed my eyes and wished that this was all just a dream. Just a nightmare and nothing else.

"What was she thinking? She shouldn't have..." He stopped when we heard a knock on the door.

She's back.

I ran to the door and opened them wide, but this nightmare just got worse at that moment.

"Detective Johnson." It slipped out of my mouth.

"Mr. Acker, right?" I nodded. "We found Maya's car on the way out of town."

"What happened?" Theo spoke up behind me. "Maya is my sister."

"We think she went off the road because of an oncoming car and hit a tree."

"Is she in a hospital?" Theo asked but I just stared stupidly at the guy in front of me.

He wouldn't be here if she was okay.

"We check the roads in this weather in case there's an accident. My colleague found her car and reported it, but..." He shook his head.

"But what?" He asked impatiently.

"She wasn't there. The door was wide open and any traces were washed away by the rain."

She wasn't there.

She wasn't there.

"This is my fault. I whispered and took a few steps back, back into the apartment.

"Sebastian..." Theo tried to catch me.

"No." I pulled away from him. "This is my fault." I said with tears in my eyes.

Sadly this is the only chapter I'll be releasing this week. (15.5-21.5)
