I woke up groggy when someone tapped my shoulder. When I opened my eyes, I saw Francisco.
"Finally, you're awake, sleepy head. We're at the airport, but first, we need to wait for my mom. She's buying water because she's thirsty, I don't want to leave her either." he said coldly. Was he always cold? I just nodded, remembering I didn't have a passport. I was about to ask him about it.
"How can we leave? I don't have a passport," I said. He turned to me, putting his phone in his pocket, crossing his arms, and raising an eyebrow. He was so grumpy.
Ang grumpy naman nitong lalaking 'to, daig pa babaeng buntis o may regla.
"Who says you need a passport? We have a private jet." My jaw dropped at what he said. Of course, they were rich.
"P-private jet?" I asked, incredulous. He just shook his head and took his phone.
What a grump. Was he raised on negativity?
I just searched for my phone. When I found it, I turned it on, and Alicia's messages flooded my screen.
Alicia: Alam mo ba Ate? Kuya Mateo shouted at me because hinahanap kita ang bad niya sakin:(
Alicia: May mali ba akong nagawa, Ate? ayaw mo na ba sa akin?
Tears welled up in my eyes. I wanted to reply to her, but I couldn't. Mateo yelled at her. I took a deep breath to stop the tears that threatened to fall.
"You miss them, that fast?" I looked around to see who he was talking to.
I pointed to myself and stared at him. He raised his eyebrow at me.
"Are you talking to me?" I asked, confused, pointing to myself. He sighed.
"There are only two of us here. Who do you expect me to be talking to? I'd be an idiot if I was talking to myself, right?" he said grumpily, making me frown.
"Why are you so grumpy with me? Hindi naman kita inaano, ang pangit mo," I said, tears welling up in my eyes. I moved a little away from him.
I was about to cry because I thought he didn't like me. I just started playing with my phone.
It didn't take long before Ma'am Mica arrived with food. But there was only one food I wanted to eat: chocolate.
"Ahm, ma'am. Can I have some chocolate?" I asked shyly. She turned to me and smiled, about to give it to me when someone snatched it. I turned to see Francisco.
"No, this is mine," he said rudely. My heart sank. He walked towards their so-called private jet. Tears welled up in my eyes because of that chocolate. Ma'am Mica noticed and panicked.
"Why, Ija? What's wrong? Do you feel sick? Why are you crying?" She asked. I cried even harder, making her even more worried.
"Why, why are you crying? tell me, my god I don't know what to do." napa hawak ito sa noo tinuro ko si Francisco na naka kunot noo itong naka tingin samin.
"I will buy you chocolates. Just please stop crying," she said. So I stopped crying and nodded.
"Okay, po," I said. I saw Francisco get off the plane and walked towards me with a frown.
"Seriously, you cried just because I didn't give you chocolate? Are you a kid?" he asked irritably, making me roll my eyes.
"Bakit ba ang damot at inaaway mo ako? I just wanted some chocolate," I said. I don't know why I'm so moody. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I get grumpy. Maybe I'm about to get my period, so that's why I'm acting like this.
Francisco called our attention. "Let's go. We have to leave. Tita Majika called. She said Mateo is looking for Zylene, I mean Luliana. Mateo tracked our location..." he said. We nodded in response.
They helped me get on the plane. We were ready to leave. It didn't take long before we took off. The flight wasn't that long, only about 14 hours.
I couldn't calm down because it was my first time on a plane. Mom Mica probably noticed that I wasn't comfortable, so she held my hand.
I was like a kid in an amusement park, looking around everywhere because it was my first time experiencing something like that.
"First time?" She asked me, making me nervously nod. She laughed and patted my shoulder.
"Po?" I asked, confused. Why was she patting my shoulder?
"Lie down and sleep. So you won't be nervous. I'll wake you up when it's time to eat," she said. I nodded and leaned against her shoulder. I've been sleepy since earlier, but I couldn't calm down. She was massaging my head, making me sleepier as time went by. Slowly, I closed my eyes.
I was woken up because it was time to eat. But I fell asleep again because I was so tired and I wasn't really hungry. But I didn't want to seem fussy, so I ate a little bit.
We got on a car service going to I don't know where. I was both nervous and excited because I would finally see my Mom.
I was just staring at the woman standing at the door of the house. I couldn't move my feet, even to approach her. It was the woman I saw at the mall, the one they said was my Mom.
"G-Grace, a-anak," she said, tears welling up in her eyes. She ran towards me and hugged me tightly.
My Mom. She was my Mom. I bit my lower lip and took slow steps towards her.
I hugged her back.
"Ikaw ang Mama Loria ko?" I asked her. She nodded.
"I'm sorry I didn't believe you, Anak ko. I'm sorry I didn't know your brother and Dad were on drugs. I only found out they were on drugs when my brother raped me. Dad didn't do anything," she said, making me cry. I hugged her tighter.
"If only I had believed you. Hindi ka mawawala sa akin ng dalawang taon. You wouldn't have lost your memory. I hope you can forgive me, Anak. I wish when I saw you almost naked, I knew what was happening," she said. I nodded.
I remembered that maybe that's what I was dreaming about. I remembered what happened earlier.
"I was just angry. But it's okay. I forgive you. We're both victims," I said. I hugged her again. I turned to Mom Mica, who was trying to hold back her tears. When she saw that I was looking at her, she smiled and nodded. She walked towards us.
"Pasok muna kayo sa loob at d'on mag usap... pero bago iyan mag pahinga ka muna, Luliana at medjo namumutla ka," sinuri ako ni Mama dahil sa sinabi ni Ma'am Mica.
"Are you sick, anak? You look pale," she said, putting her hand on my forehead. But I just shook my head.
"I'm probably just tired from the trip," I said. She nodded slowly.
"Anak, rest first. We'll talk another time," she said. I nodded and she kissed me on the cheek.
"Follow me, anak," she said. I nodded.
"Ma'am Mica, how is Tita Majika? Is she safe there? Was Mateo not hurting her?" I asked her, worried about Mom Majika. We had a connection, even if it was small.
"Ma'am Mica, how is Tita Majika? Is she safe there? Was Mateo not hurting her?" I asked her, worried about Mom Majika. We had a connection, even if it was small.
"She is fine. Mateo didn't hurt her, but if Mateo found out about Majika helping you to escape, I don't know what would happen. Mateo wants to get you in the fastest way. He has a private investigator, but Majika is smart. She can block Mateo's investigator. And Mateo can't hurt his mom. So no need to worry," she said. Even though I was nervous, I just nodded. We walked towards the upper floor. When we reached the third floor, we stopped at a room in the middle.
She smiled at me, gesturing me to enter the room. "This is your room. The first room is my Son's, and the third room is your Mom's room," she said. I nodded and thanked her. She left, and I went inside.
After I took a bath, I laid down to sleep. But I couldn't sleep because there was something I wanted to eat, but I didn't know what it was. So I tried to sleep, but I couldn't. I looked at the clock. It was only 11 pm, so I decided to go downstairs to see if I could find what I wanted to eat.
I was already downstairs heading to the kitchen to look for the food I wanted to eat. I didn't see anyone else. Maybe they were all asleep. As soon as I entered the kitchen, I went straight to the refrigerator.
I cleared my throat. "Pero bakit?" I asked him, confused. He just raised an eyebrow at me.
"These chocolates are mine," he said. My heart sank. I felt like I was about to cry because I really wanted to eat some chocolate.
"Can I have just one?" I showed him my index finger.
"You can't. What's mine is mine," he said. I just nodded and started walking out of the kitchen, tears welling up in my eyes. I walked back upstairs, feeling so down.
Before I could even reach the stairs, someone grabbed the bottom of my shirt. I turned around to see Francisco holding five chocolates.
"Here. Maybe you'll cry even harder and curse me," he said. My face brightened up. I happily took the chocolates and smiled at him.
"Thank you," I said. I think because I was so happy, I hugged him.
"Woah, calm down, woman." He gently pushed me away from him. That's when I realized what I had done, so I immediately apologized.
"Damn," I heard him mutter, but I just ignored it.
He really did seem familiar to me. I just couldn't remember when we met.
I really do forget things so easily.
When I got to my room, I went straight to my bed and opened the chocolate to eat.
I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and turned off the lights to sleep.
"No matter what happens today, your Mom will always be here. I'll protect you..." I heard my Mom whisper. I felt a tear roll down my right cheek.
