Daliah's POV

I was on my way home after delivering the orders and it was close to 12 am. As I was going through the woods, I spotted a man in the middle of the road showing no signs of getting out of my way.

I screeched to a halt but apparently not fast enough, because the next thing I knew is that my motorcycle had bumped into him, and there was a dull thud. I hurriedly jumped off my bike to apologise but I paled at the sight and my eyes widened in horror.

The guy looked like he just came outta WW3!

I took a step back as my hand flew to my mouth. He was unconscious too. I felt a pang of guilt when I realised that was probably because of me. Blood dripped from his head and there were bruises all over his body. I snapped out of my daze and tried calling the ambulance. Keyword tried. There was no signal, courtesy of the clouds being depressed as fuck. Seeing only one option I dragged him to my baby and hauled him over it. Climbing on myself I secured his arms around my waist and raced towards the hospital, sucking up the intense pain in my back due to his chest pressing on it.

I was drenched. The rain wasn't very merciful, but that didn't stop me from loving it. As I sped towards the hospital I felt the guy behind me tighten his arms around my waist but he was still unconscious.

I got off my bike and somehow brought him inside the hospital by supporting his weight on my shoulders. One look at him and the receptionist's eyes widened. She called someone, speaking frantically. A few seconds later nurses hurried in the waiting room with a bed and placed him on it.

"The wound on his head is major so we're gonna have to take him to the surgery ward. Please wait here." one of them said in a calm voice but her eyes were slightly disturbed.

I groaned and plopped down on one of the chairs, falling asleep in a matter of minutes despite my dripping clothes.

Someone was gently calling out to me and shaking my body slightly. Where was I? Who was this person?

I woke up with a start and snapped my head to the nurse who was waking me up. She smiled sweetly, and spoke, "Hello. I assume you are the one who brought the injured man here about four hours ago?"

Four hours ago!!??

I checked my phone and it was, indeed, almost 4 in the morning. I had gotten some sleep so I didn't feel too drained out. I nodded and the nurse escorted me to his room even though I wanted to be far far away from the guy I almost killed.

I pushed the door open and peeked inside. He was still asleep. Good.

"He should be awake anytime now." the nurse smiled. I just nodded back and sat down beside the bed. I looked at him for the first time then. Like, I really noticed what he looks like. He had sharp and raised cheekbones, a straight nose, full lips, and a slight beard. His body was...impressive, I admit. His abs and chest were outlined through the hospital gown and his biceps were straining through the sleeves.

Any other woman would have swooned and blushed and stared and done other disgusting things, but not me. I just observed and looked away hoping he woke up soon so I could get this over with.

My wish was answered for once.

I looked at him as his eyes fluttered open and for a second he looked up in confusion, a slight furrow in his brows. Then his eyes started looking around and when they landed on me he inhaled sharply and scrambled to get farther away from me on the bed. Cute. Wait huh-NO NOT CUTE!

I noticed that his hand went to his hip but then realised the fact that he was wearing a hospital gown. He leaned towards me and fear started creeping in, but I didn't lean away.

"Where the fuck am I, what the fuck happened and who the fuck are you?" he spat venomously.

Woah. Language.

Totally not me being Steve Rogers.

"Well, aren't you just a ball of sunshine." I drawled, sighing when he glared at me. "You are at the hospital, your car apparently did a backflip, and I am your knight in shining armor." I said without flinching even though my fear was growing by the second. His piercing bronze eyes glared at me in anger and accusation.

I sighed again. "I found you on the road in the middle of the woods like something from a horror movie with your car crashed against the tree so I did the obvious thing and brought you to this hospital. A thank you would suffice." I said. He looked confused for a second but that soon shifted into something bitter.

"I remember that my car crashed and I managed to get out and a...bright light was coming towards me-" I scoffed at that and he glared again "-and then I blacked out I think." he said then realization shone in his eyes and he glared at me again, harsher than before. "You're the one who hit me when I blacked out!" he snapped and I spoke, "I did and I'm sorry, ok? I didn't mean to hit you I just wasn't able to see very well because of the rain. It was an accident. Also, stop glaring so much. Your face will get stuck like that." I turned away after saying my last words, secretly smiling.

He didn't soften his expression in the slightest. Then his eyes travelled to his legs and widened. His left leg was plastered and raised. Just then the doctor came in with a clipboard in his hand.

"Hello. My name is Trevor. I performed the surgery on your man here." he said and I almost choked. "He's not my man." "I'm not her man." We both said at the same time, then glared at each other simultaneously.

Troy here - or whatever his name was - just hummed and continued, "He suffered a major head injury, but thankfully nothing is wrong with the bones or the brain. But the femur of his left leg was fractured so he will have to be on crutches for about three weeks at max. There might be a light throbbing pain in your head and your torso because you got pretty serious gashes there." he finished.

The person lying on the bed had an uninterpretable look in his eyes. He just sat in a stiff way against the headboard. The doctor nodded at both of us and walked out. A second after he left the door opened once again to reveal a nurse pushing a trolley inside.

I'm just gonna refer to the person I saved as Guy because he wasn't kind enough to tell me his name and I won't be the one to ask.

She took one look at Guy and her jaw dropped as a blush crept over her cheeks. She closed her mouth and took quick steps over to him, completely ignoring me. How rude.

She smiled at him and dipped a piece of cotton in some antiseptic and slowly walked up to him, puffing her chest out.

Dear God.

Guy glared at her with distaste. She went up to his face and started carefully dabbing the cotton all over it. "Such a pretty face. You shouldn't get bruises." she cooed while I tried to hold in my laughter. 'He literally just has a scratch on his pretty face.'

"I'll...go and pay the bill." I declared and the nurse gave me a once over before turning back to Guy. And I walked out of the room, leaving him with his admirer and ignoring the save-me look in his eyes.

Hehe.

I walked up to the payment desk and tapped the glass, making the lady look up. I handed over the slip Trevor had given me and she typed something in her computer. "You are Ms. Daliah Agosti, correct?" she asked and I nodded. "The cost for the surgery is โ‚ฌ70,000." she said and looked up at me.

I'm pretty sure my shock was there on my face after hearing that amount. I composed myself and cleared my throat, "Ma'am, could you uh- give me a discount?" I tried to reason with her. She looked up at me. "I'm sorry ma'am, we can't." she said gently but firmly.

"Why is it so expensive?" I bit my lip and asked. The lady smiled helplessly, "The cost of the operation is not that expensive, however there are fees for hospitalisation." I furrowed my eyebrows. "So if we don't stay in the hospital how much is it?" She looked down at her computer. "โ‚ฌ30,000." Relief flooded me and I hurriedly spoke, "Oh, then we won't be hospitalised!" She nodded her head and I took out my credit card.

'Ah but it is still so much...'

I tried to ward off my thoughts and handed out my credit card. The woman tried to take it but I couldn't let go. I mentally slapped myself and forced my stubborn hand to let go of the card.

After the payment was done I contemplated whether I should return to Guy's hospital room or just leave. I need to see where he will stay though. I sighed and headed towards his room.

"What did I get myself stuck into." I mumbled dejectedly.
