His mother was unnervingly calm with a small smile prevalent on her face. She looked from her husband to her son, who was seated in the waiting room, her son was there watching blankly at the argument unfolding in front of him. "Please doctor, there is something wrong with my son! When he was born he didn't cry, whenever he gets injured he shows zero signs of pain on his face and in comparison to other children he doesn't experience any kind of emotion! That's not normal at all! How many times do I need to come here with my son, till you people actually do something to fix him!" Jokichi says, he notices the way his father taps his foot against the floor, clearly getting more furious.
His father wore black khaki pants, alongside a dark grey suit with a blue and white striped tie, he continued to argue with the doctor but it was quite clear they weren't getting anywhere in their conversation. People started to look their way, watching as if they were some carnival attraction and his mother just stood there, she was unnervingly calm with a small smile prevalent on her face.
Children tend to dislike loud noises and adults they are supposed to look up to argue, but he was different, he is an Aishi.
His face showed no emotion and his eyes were as empty as his expression.
He stared at the two men, one being his father still arguing and it seemed that he wasn't planning on stopping anytime soon. His mother walked over, she knelt down and placed her hands on either side of his shoulders, her hand trailed down landing in his. She gave him a warm smile, blinking back at him with a sparkle in her eyes, she tilted her head, in the direction off another seating area.
He doesn't speak, he just nods at her.
Every object he passed were taller than him, he was young child at the time, walking down the busy hallway of a hospital, as doctors went to and fro, he heard children crying and screaming since they didn't want an injection. Others, used colouring books and messily covered it in while their parents sighed in relief that there child was finally distracted. He wasn't like the other children and that's all he knew, he felt like an outcast deep down but it didn't stop him from observing their faces, he learnt smiling is linked to happiness, crying is sadness and anger is different for everyone.
A poster catches his eyes, he looks up at it, Ackademi high, a school he's heard his parents went to, where his mother met her true love. By watching his parents behaviour, he's noticed how his mother liked to keep things to herself and so did his father, his father would rather confide in alcohol than his mother. His father is a complete mess of a man, he's been crushed mentally and he believes it's because his father thinks he can't fix his son. His eyes look empty and he looks at his son with a sad smile, he notices the way his father shivers when his mother places a hand on him. He can't help but pity his father.
Your supposed to look up to your father, not look down on them.
He often noticed them arguing, he always observed and watched, keeping out of sight.
His father called his mother all kinds of words in a fit of rage, but froze when his mother sent him a smile. He could see the fear in his eyes as silence was spread throughout the house, his father's eyes widened in fear and he could hear sobs erupt out of his mouth. He would fall to the floor grabbing her light purple apron, begging for her forgiveness as his tears landed on her apron like blood splatters, while wrapping his arms around her waist.
"I'm sorry- I'm so sorry! Please forgive me Ryoba!" His father begged through sobs, clinging to her like some puppy, she simply stared down at him, listening to him beg and plead for her. For a second he saw a dark stare flash over his mother's face, but once he blinked it was gone. Her smile returned. "Oh, darling! This better not happen again, you do know what happens, right?" His mother giggled, combing her fingers through his ink coloured hair, she held his chin and she bent down, leaning closer to his ear.
His father turned fifty shades lighter and he looked as if he saw a ghost, "I'm so happy you apologized, darling! I'm doing this for us after all, you belong to me. Don't. Forget. That." Ryoba smiles, bopping his nose while giggling like school girl, who was madly in love, and patterning his face with kisses. Sometimes, he didn't see his father for long periods of time, he always wondered what had happened to him.
His mother had the ability to read people like books, especially his father but she could do the same with him as well, "Your father has work, sweetheart. As much as it pains me, he has to pay the price!" She spoke, patting his head like he was her dog instead of her child, she knew something he didn't and she cherished his naivety, a hidden meaning was woven into her words, he didn't speak much unless he thought it was necessary.
He would walk around his house, after being awoken by strange noises, with his teddy bear in hand, he carefully travelled down the stairs, the creaks of the floorboards made it obvious someone was walking through the Aishi household. He could hear sounds like mph, it sounded as if something was trapped down there. He started to make small and quiet footsteps etching closer to the basement door, he sensed that he wasn't the only person downstairs as well.
The muffled noises grew louder, he placed his ear against the cold wooden door, something was definitely down there, he went on his tippy toes twisting the door knob with all of his strength yet it refused to open. He stepped back, trying to think of a way to solve this, but his steps were loud and definitely alerted someone.
Arms wrapped around his torso and he was in the air, at this mysterious figures mercy, he didn't know who picked him up but he felt kisses on his forehead as he was being gently rocked side to side, "Sweetheart! It's so late, you should be in bed now. Come, come. Mommy will tuck you in tonight!" Ryoba spoke cheerily, giving him a kiss on the cheek and squeezing him closer to her, "Where you trying to get into the basement sweetheart? You know mommy doesn't want you wandering down there, you'll get to use the basement in the future sweetie! Be stoical, sweetie!" She carried him up the stairs, not letting him touch the floor at all.
"I can teach you many things sweetheart, but I can't if you tired, now can I?" She whispered, tucking him into bed and stroking his hair, her gaze softened as she stared at him, "I don't think I've told you this sweetie, but the women in our family are special." She says, brushing over his cheek, "The women in our family, we carry a condition, that the Aishi family has suffered from for countless years. It has been unheard of for this curse to have been passed to a boy, since we Aishi women have not given birth to a male child." She continued, pulling the cover over Ayato, so he was comfortable.
"That just shows me how special you are, your just like me...One day, Ayato, you will find someone, who will make you complete... Just like I did with Jokichi, there's a school, sweetheart. Called Ackademi high, a cherry tree is there, I confessed to my darling Jokichi and he ruined it..." She trailed off, losing her composure for a moment before taking a deep breath in and the smile on her face returned.
Looking into her eyes were like looking into a brewing storm, you never knew when lightning would strike, and she had a darkness in her eyes that no mother ever should. "I remember, those days when I was young and my life had no meaning, no purpose. I spent my days, dreaming of the one, till he arrived. Soon, it will be your time, Ayato." She places a hand on his heart, she brushes her hand over his, smiling darkly.
"Your heart will know if they are the one for you. There is a reason I called you Ayato, it means colourful winter, my name comes from a blade and so did all the names before mine. Since you're so special, I broke that tradition in our family. Winter can be harsh and brutal yet beautiful. You will show people a ruse, your 'colourful personality', will trick them, sweetheart. Soon, things will all make sense." She kisses his forehead and the moonlight shone through his window, illuminating some of his room, "You and your love will bring an Aishi into the world just like we brought you into the world...Protect your love from anyone else, sweetie. Do whatever you deem necessary."His mother stepped into the darkness, blowing him a kiss from across the room, she opens his door and closes.
He can hear her going back downstairs, maybe she's going to see what's in the basement, after all it was making a lot of noise but the sound stopped once his mother went downstairs. He used his family's computer to type whether jobs can keep you away from home for numerous days, he didn't get a specific answer but he's sure his mother is right and his father will come back soon.
Ayato was left with his thoughts, he did infact dream of his true love and that dream was wonderful, he had been dreaming that same dream on repeat for the past ten years. His life had no purpose without his true love, so he didn't eat much, but he wasn't underweight he didn't see the point in eating and carrying on his life when he didn't have her.
Till she walked into his life, the person who gave him meaning, he had been blinded by chasing love and he fell victim to the thought that Taeko was his possession, when in reality Y/n is. He will do anything for her, there is no one he wouldn't kill or hurt for her. He remembers his mother's words, "If you truly love her, you'll do anything for her."
His corkboard had pictures of his rivals and a huge red circle is drawn around Kokona, oh Kokona, the one who keeps lying to Y/n, poisoning her mind when he's the one that needs to protect her. Kokona is some infectious plague, a parasite that needs to be destroyed, he'll send Kokona to hell and back just so Y/n will never have to hear her utter a word again.
Ding.
He's decided to dispose of Kokona without getting any blood on his hands, he isn't the one after all who will pick up a weapon, he scrolls through their messages, the discussion of rumours, that Kokona goes on dates with older men in exchange for their money. He made Kokona admit it, even though he's already heard her conversation with Saki, he's just making sure she's telling him the truth.
She tells him, her father is in debt and she is trying to earn enough money to help pay his debt, but what Kokona doesn't know is that the loan shark extorting her father has two daughters, who both attend the same school as them and one of two sisters is her best friend Y/n.
He realizes he can use this to his advantage.

"Once you are able to control a person's feelings, their thoughts will follow and soon they will become your puppet." Ryoba say, in a high pitched tone, pretending to be one of Ayato's puppet toys, they were playing a game and she decided to teach Ayato something valuable "But, remember, a puppet's string's can snap, and so can they."
