Here it is.
The day she'd leave Japan forever.
It all felt surreal yet bittersweet at the same time, more bitter than sweet since she believes she could off done much more for everyone she's lost. It also feels sweet as Japan will always be her home, the place where she's made friends and memories that will unfortunately last a life time whether bad or good.
She was unable to sleep last night and Megamo kindly offered to let her sleep in his bed while he used a futon. It didn't help her fall asleep. She retreated to the wooden chair that gave her a perfect view of the vegetation below and allowed her to bask in Japan's beauty before she left.
She always liked to take photos, that's what drew her to the Photography club in the first place, even though they weren't very serious about taking photos despite it being the clubs name. She still felt complete when she was there.
The feeling of being complete has always been a longing for her, maybe it was because of her home life. The absence of a mother, a father and a sister must of taken a toll on her. she always felt like something in her life was missing. So, she tried filling this hole inside of her heart, hobbies, new friends and photos she had of her friends and her so she could convince herself it was enough. Nothing was enough. Her life felt even more imbalanced and ruined when people she cared for were ripped away and it was out of her control.
She never felt so powerless in her entire life, no matter how hard she tried he was always a step ahead of her. She was fighting to demons at the same time him and herself. She persuaded herself that the blame was on her and therefore it was her mission to find this person.
Now, the fact this person might get away scout free leaves a sour taste in her mouth.
She still had puppet strings wrapped around her throat, every action she did didn't even feel like her own. The way his words weaved into her heart and she felt like he was someone she could trust but just like everyone else he pulls the mat from underneath her feet. She sighs, watching the sun rise above the horizon, seeming to be waving at her as it would be the last sunset in Japan she would ever see.
"Goodbye Japan." She mumbled, her heart dropped knowing the clock was ticking and soon she'd leave this place for good and she'd never see her friend Budo or Megamo again. She feels bad, not telling Budo she was leaving, she told him maybe they could work if he waited but she couldn't lead his heart onto a diving board knowing that the last thing she ever told him was a lie.
She heard the rustle of Megamo turning in his sleep and abruptly waking up afterwards, gd sat up straight in his silky blue yukata, rubbing his eyes and blinking as his eyes land on Y/n. Megamo stands up, etching closer to her and sitting on his knees by her side, looking up to her,"Your sad that you have to leave Japan, aren't you?" Megamo asks, Y/n looks away from the ombre of blue to orange and looking into his silver eyes.
"Yes, I am. I feel like I haven't done enough and I can't get justice for them. I've failed them." Y/n says truthfully, her eyes widen when Megamo stands up taking her hand in his with a stern look on his face, his eye brows furried in a rage. "Do not speak lowly of yourself, since this all out of your control. Giving up is helping you fall right into his hands, I can only apologize after seeing the way your father treated you and the fact that your going to be leaving soon." Megamo exclaimed, Y/n nods at his words and begins to get lost in thought, not hearing the rest of his words.
Their hands part, much to Megamo's dislike but he sees Y/n pacing around his room and she begins by saying, "Your right, I'll go to the police station try get someone to go to court on my behalf and if I have time I could say goodbye to Budo in person since I'm not going to school today..." She trails off and continues, "I know this is your room but let me change quickly so I can go, you can come with me if you want."
Megamo answers a bit too quickly, "Yes. I would love to accompany you." They both just stand there in a short silence and Megamo remembers what she just asked him, "I will go now..."
"Thanks." Y/n says, he leaves and she gets started, changing and then waiting outside for Megamo to change, only to notice that girl she saw the other day. What was her name? Ayano? She seemed to be collecting a file from Kencho, she wasn't too sure on what but it's best not to pry into anything she didn't need to, considering she was leaving today.
Y/n was in a cage, getting poked and jabbed at by her thoughts, looking outside the window in Megamo's limousine. Thankfully, they arrived to the police station and she wasted zero time entering the police station to talk to Kenjo. He was standing there in with a mug in hand reading, 'I'll be in my office.' With a police car printed into the mug as well, the person he was talking to noticed her and gave him a pat on the shoulder before leaving. Kenjo waved as he took a sip of his coffee with a smile on his face, "Morning, Y/n." He greets, with such a cheerful tone considering how early it was, she wished she could be that happy right now.
"Good morning..." Y/n replies, with a full empty tone, which he takes notice off, he raises an eyebrow in confusion, "You sound bummed out. What's going on?" Kenjo asks, walking to their typical seating area with him at one end of the table and her at the other. He combs through his slicked back hair as he places his coffee cup down with a light thud and he leans forward awaiting her words.
There was something she just needed to know before she left Japan and maybe he'd be able to help her, "Please Kenjo, I need to know what happened to Saki. I'm leaving Japan today and I atleast need to know what happened to her." Y/n pleads, looking at him with desperation prevalent in her eyes.
"I'm sorry Y/n, I truly am but it's confidential informantion reserved for family only-" Kenjo is cut off by Y/n yet again and he sighs letting her speak over him. "We are practically family! I've known her all my life and I can't rest never knowing what happened to her. I need some reassurance so I don't get my hopes up. This case is ruined and I've lost a second befriend!" Tears spill down her face and conveniently there is a box of tissues in the table, that he slides over to her.
"I would speak for you in your place but legally I can't. You or Saki have to be present in this court case." He states, watching as she blows her nose into the tissue and he wrinkles his nose at the noise, "You know, I would if I could and I hate Ryoba Aishi and ya dah yah my family was ridiculed and sent death threats because of her. I hate them just as much as you and I hate the thought of another Aishi getting away with it all."
"I just don't know what to do... I feel so powerless right now." Y/n says truthfully, slumping down in her seat, with her chin in her hand. "Hey, hey, it's not all hopeless, didn't you tell me about that Horuda girl?" He begins, with his arms crossed and his face unfazed to Y/n's wide eyed confusion, he sighs with an eyebrow raised, "You really did forget you could get her to help you, instead of painting her as the villain. I'm sure she's just a misguided girl and she might come around... Well, probably not-" He laughs slightly at the end and a frown is clear on Y/n's face, he straightens up his position and goes back into professional mode.
"But, we normally keep people in for 24 hours in custody but for crimes like murder and whatnot, it's about 36-96 hours. Horuda Puresu is in custody right now, I'm not really supposed to let you 'interrogate' her but since it's your last day here it's the least I could do." He smiles, Y/n's eyes glisten with hope, she has to hope she can attempt to convince Horuda to testify against him and maybe it will work. Maybe...
Kenjo stands up first and leads the way to the police custody, he fishes around in his pocket for a cold sliver key, twisting it in the key hole till a click is heard and the door opens. Y/n immediately notices the tiled wall, with a small square window, along with a grey phone on the wall and a bed that's practically infused with the floor. She spots Horuda in the corner off the room with her knees to her chest and eyes staring right into her soul, the look of a strong distaste and hatred was burning in Horuda's eyes.
Y/n can already feel her clothes starting to cling to her and the room gives of the sense that it's about to close in on her. She steps into the cell and Kenjo shuts the door behind her, "I'll be out here just in case." He calls, Y/n takes a mental note of that and she walks closer to Horuda, who remains silent with the clear dislike bubbling up instead her. "I just want to say I'm sorry Horuda, and I'm sorry that you got caught up in all this mess with Ayato-" Y/n is cut off by Horuda standing up, eyes filled with a dark empty gaze.
"You would understand..." She starts, murmuring but loud enough for Y/n to hear, "He understands me... He helped me, he's done a lot more than you ever have for me." Horuda'd head tilts as she stalks closer to Y/n, backing her into a corner. "I've been bullied all my life and your sister and her friends never made life easier... You think you're some saint? He has done everyone a favour getting rid of people like her." Horuda spat, with a venom Y/n never expected to come out of her mouth, the quiet loner that no one was even sure had a voice.
"What are you even talking about? Kokona killed... Musume. Not him, I know he's killed people but I know for a fact he didn't kill Kokona. He might have told you things he might have lied-" Y/n's back has hit the wall and as if it was on command Horuda let out an soul shaking laugh. The silence that followed afterwards was deafening, "You really believe Kokona would do it? Without getting a little nug into the right direction?" Horuda's shoulders go up and down as she laughs, then stops giving Y/n time to think.
"He made her do it..." Y/n mumbles, she can hear the ice crack beneath her, she feels numb and she thought she couldn't feel even more numb than she already is. "That's right...When I get out of here, I'll kill you too-" Horuda's sentence is cut short by Kenjo entering the room and pulling her away from Y/n and managing to cuff her aswell. Y/n was frozen, she couldn't even process what was going on around her or when she was guided out off the cell.
He's taken everything from her.
Everything.
She suddenly gives way and she falls to her knees with a thud, she doesn't even cry. No tears can come out anymore after all the tears she's she'd for everyone she couldn't save, she can hear muffled sounds and distorted voice. She feels the hand she felt on her shoulder move, at a rapid pace; she looks up to see Megamo staring down at her and suddenly sound rushes through her ears. Kenjo is stood up as straight as a board with his chin almost pointing to the ceiling and his arms behind his back, since he's in the prescense of a Saikou.
"Y/n, speak to me. What happened in that cell? Y/n?" The sincerity and worry in his tone made her melt in his tight hold as he stroked her hair. He hugged her tightly whispering words of comfort in her ears, just like Kokona always did and she holds him, closing her eyes sinking into his grasp. After a few moments they stand up, Megamo has an arm over her shoulders and Y/n has her head leaning on his; they walk through the police station and everyone present is bowing as they pass.
They enter the limousine, "I hate seeing you like this Y/n." Megamo begins, pulling Y/n close so her head lays rest on his shoulder, "I promise, on my honour as a Saikou, that I will put a stop to that pest once and for all. Do not worry about that vermin, you should focus on using your day off to get everything packed for today Y/n." Y/n nods, falling victim to slumber and Megamo blushes knowing he'll miss her company dearly.
Ayato tucks his actual hair under the wig, it's good enough to be relatively presentable and he brushes off invisible dust off his uniform, while fixing up his tie. His heart thumbed in his chest like a drum being beaten at a rapid pace, today is the day! The day Y/n will be his! He can feel the heat radiating off his face, this intoxicating feeling is pumping through his blood stream.
It's early in the morning and the sun has just began to peek out from above the horizon, Ayato has exited his house, knowing soon it won't just be him alone anymore. Not only will he have Y/n but his parents will be returning from America just in time for them to meet Y/n.
The stench of rotting meat with fruity undertones was a potent throughout the house, despite the air freshener he spritzed throughout his house. He had 12 bin bags near his door and he descended his stairs flapping a bigger bin bag to open it up, to carefully stuff as many as he could into it. Once he stuffed the smaller 12 bags into two big ones, he stretched, rubbing of the sweat off his face. He had to get Kencho to collect these as they were too heavy for him alone to take.
He exits his home, a gentle breeze brushes through his hair, well the wig and the ombre off the light blue and orange immediately made him think off Y/n. The way Y/n makes him react is unimaginable, she is worth everything he's doing for her and no one is getting in his way ever again.
Buraza Town, is bustling with people despite the earliness of the day, his phone screen illuminated his face and Kencho's face labels his eyeballs as he stares down at it. He approaches the alleyway to see Kencho,"It's about time you showed up Aishi. You're lucky I got that driving route for you, you better start sticking to your end of the deal." Kencho spat, tossing the file over to him, Ayato ignored his childish rant, too fixated on the route that could determine whether Y/n would be ripped away from him forever.
He couldn't let that happen.
He wouldn't.
Ayato looks up from the sheet, narrowing his eyes at this grown child still complaining that he had to do work for once in his life by simply getting the route for him. "I don't have time for this, we need to get to Saikou corp so I can get that 'other' sheet that I need in order for my pla to work." Ayato says with haste, already taking the initiative to walk out of the narrow alleyway and heading over to the car.
"I would say lady's first but your not an actual woman are you?" Kencho snaps back, while pettily shoving Ayato out of his way and sitting at the back of the limousine, Ayato's eye twitches and he becomes much more aware of the knife in his pocket. This whole process would be troublesome if he ended up at the back of a limousine with the unheard off CEOs son's throat slit. Though, Mr Saikou would probably be more concerned about the money he'd have to spend to remove the blood stains his son's neck gushed out onto the car seat.
Ayato takes a seat, slamming the car door behind him and they go through the tedious process of transitioning to boat and then arriving to Saikou corp the quicker way. Saikou corp looks just as grand and heavily guarded as it was before, with bodyguards surrounding the perimeter. The bodyguards simply nodded as Kencho passed them as they did before and Ayato was ignored.
"Wait here, I'm going to get that file you wanted since you're too incompetent to do anything by yourself." Kencho scoffs, walking off and leaving Ayato by himself. Ayato's eyes meet hers, she looks perfect... She looks back into his eyes but she doesn't recognize him. They stare into eachothers eyes for a moment, it feels like an eternity yet Kencho interrupts them and he gestures for him to take the file.
He opens it up, revealing a picture of Beruma, it's her file and he needs some insight on her life to convince the world she disappeared with reason...
"How do you like your tea, Beruma?" Ayato asks, with a smile on his face, interrupting their previous conversation about the disappearance of Frueddo Jonzu. "I prefer green tea, I read in a book that it helps with brain functions." She states, waiting on the couch for Ayato to make her tea, "I know that Y/n has done something to Frueddo just to get back at me! If it was my choice she'd be rotting in jail, she also acted so savagely in the photography club. She's a threat and a danger to everyone around her and I'm not surprised that no one feels safe around her yet the school does nothing about it!"
Ayato hums in agreement, which satisfies her for a moment, making her finally stop talking and he slips in an extra addition to her tea, he's sure she'll die for it. He holds the tea cup by the handle, carefully travelling around the couch to give her the cup as much as he'd want to pour it on her and make her skin scaled off like she deserves he places it down in front her. He uses a formerly used pastel blue neckerchief as a coaster for her cup on the table.
She holds the cup up and the steam fogs up her glasses get she persists and blows into the tea, making it ripple as she takes a sip of it. Minutes go by and their conversation progresses, "Would you die to know the truth, Beruma?" Ayato asks, with an eyebrow raised and he leans forward with a 'comforting' smile despite the severity of his words. "Of course! Every... detective wants to...Find out the truth... Yeah, the truth..." Beruma utters groggily, sleep is over taking her and she can barely keep her eyes open but theres one thing she can see clearly.
His smile.
"Isn't that nice to know?" Ayato smiles, there's a certain edge to his tone, something that she doesn't know but he knows very well. "I feel...tired all of a sudden...Dafuni is right... I do need to take care of myself." Beruma murmurs, slowly getting up from the couch, "I need to...go."
"What's the rush? It's not like your leaving anytime soon." Ayato chuckles, he makes no rush to go after Beruma, he sees the colour drain from her face and the realization is like water being dumped on her face. Her movements are corpse-like and she staggers, trying to keep her balance on any near by objects she close to. The door is in reach, it's so close...
A sharp tug on the nape of her collar pulls her back, she loses her balance and the door is out of reach. Thud. Her head hits the oak wood floor boards, her head pounds in an agonizing pain and her vision is clouded, her mind races with thoughts and the adrenaline pumps through her body yet she can't move. "Why are you so scared? Don't you want to know shere Frueddo is?" He laughs, and that's the last thing she ever heard.
"Kencho, I need to ask something." Ayato begins, Kencho rolls his eyes but urges for him to continue, clearly he will withstand anything to get rid off Megamo,"I need your bodyguards to go to my house to get two bin bags I have, it's apart of my plan." Ayato says, Kencho raises eyebrow, folding hid arms while looking him in the eye to see if he was serious or not.
Of course, he was serious, "You don't order me around, Aishi but if this will help getting rid of my 'problem' then I will." Kencho scoffs, clicking his finger, summoning two near by bodyguard's, who presumably heard their conversation as they were already off and out the door, "Me and you are heading down to the driving route and we'll check for the opportunities you can use to... You know what I mean, now come 'Ayano' we are heading to the car." Kencho states, Ayato follows alongside him and soon enough they are parked in front of an abandoned building.
Ayato already has an idea and it involves this building.
"This building is taking up space, it needs to be revamped and turned into something greater." Kencho says with his nose scrunched up due to the very sight of the battered, old and worn down building, that's definitely older than Ayato and Kencho combined. The car, filled with the bodyguards Kencho had ordered to retrieve the bin bags from Ayato's house has returned ; each of them carried two bags each and places them down near Ayato, "Now, what is all this Ayato? What could you possibly need heavy bin bags for?" Kencho quieres, attempting to pick one up and suddenly hearing a crack in his back.
"The bin bags are parts." Ayato replies, in a slightly higher pitch then usual, due to his facade as Ayano, Kencho opens his mouth to say something but closes it, probably fearing what his answer would be. The two approach the abandoned building but pause when a bodyguard rushes over to them, "I have discovered the key to this building in a bush, sir." She bows, presenting the key to Kencho, which he quickly snatches from her and shoves into the key hole.
Once he twisted it and struggled with the handle, while Ayato simply watched, he managed to open the door and the stench of dust flew up Kencho's nostrils, making him sneeze. The sneeze made an echo, and Kencho saw the cobwebs in the corners, he was positive bugs where infesting the entire building and he shrieked when a spider drop onto his designed shoes. "Get it off! Get it- Off!" Kencho scream, at the top of his lungs and guards rush to his side, one of them used a stick to knock the insect of and finished the job by stomping on it.
"My designer shoes! Where did you get that disgusting stick from, I'm going to have to get new ones now!" He complains, ripping the shoe off his feet and chucking it into the grass, he waddle to his limousine going down and up due to one of his feet abscense of a shoe, "Ayat- Ayano! Hurry up and do whatever you need to do then your dismissed, till later on!" Kencho shouts from the car, before pressing a button and pulling the car window up.
Ayano, got to work immediately pulling the bin bags into the building and positioning them exactly where he needs them, the building is suffocatingly dusty but it will do the job. It's also extremely dark, the only reason he can traverse this place is due to the flashlight on his phone. His light illuminated a sign, reading 'announcement room'. The room has several computers on desks, various other pieces of technology and office supplies are around. Also, five chairs surround a desk as well, he's discovered a PA system, where he can project his voice throughout the building.
From what he can tell this building is a school, maybe he can use this to his advantage...
He had to quickly change out of his disguise, wiping off all the make-up and gently placing the wig onto a stand, while brushing up his hair to a reasonable standard. Kencho, had provided him with a late pass for school so the teacher's can't give him a day suspension. He makes his way to Info-chan's window, tapping on the purchase he wants to make.
He waits patiently underneath Info-chan's window, he looks up from his phone to see the smoke bomb nestled in the grass below his feet. He picks it up stuffing it into his pocket, they costed 100 info points meaning he had to take a lot of... Panty pics. It's disgusting, why would Info-chan even need them, the only panty pics he would want are Y/n's... Not these.
He looks on his phone and taps onto the weather forecast, it's going to be raining in the evening, exactly when he's trying to stop Y/n from leaving him. He's just going to have to try using the rain as an asset. He scrolls through the pictures on his phone, Y/n is the center of all off them. She's too pure for this world, she needs to be protected by him.
Y/n folds the last piece of clothing she'll need and zips up her suitcase, Megamo waits outside of her door to take the suitcase down the stairs for her, "Thank you Megamo, for everything. I'm also thankful for your family for letting me stay in your home, even though you did kidnap me... I'll never forget you Megamo." Y/n says, with a smile on her face, that she's trying to hold but ultimately she reveals a frown on her face, "I don't want to go but I've caused enough trouble as it is. Maybe, it's for the best, I hope I'll see you again soon."
Mrs Saikou watches them from a distance, she smiles, witnessing the ice melt from her son's formerly cold interior. She feels content that her son as found someone that will love him just as much as he loves her.
Megamo's face flushes pink, a similar pink to the cherry blossoms and he pulls her into a hug, which she excepts immediately. "Don't be foolish, Y/n. You should not be speaking like that, like- You'll never see me again." He whispers into her ear, she pulls away to look into his eyes, tears well up inside them, threatening to spill.
Once they do spill, he wipes them away, "You shouldn't leave Japan with a frown on your face. Even with everything that's happened to you, there are still good memories and good people. We will meet again, Y/n." Megamo says, their hands are connected and Y/n feels safe, for once. His face leans closer to hers, he closes his eyes and she closes hers.
Their lips are so close but they both draw away when they hear Mr Saikou's cough, "It was a pleasure having you with us Y/n. It's a shame to see you go, I wish you a safe journey." He says coldly, in his usual tone, Y/n turns away from Megamo and into Mr Saikou's direction, she bows as a sign of her respect and thankfulness. "Thank you Mr Saikou, if you don't mind could you tell Mrs Saikou thanks as well." Y/n speaks, Mr Saikou nods, openings the door for Y/n and her father that's just come down the stairs with two suitcases, looking disheveled and untidy.
Y/n doesn't pay him any mind, "Megamo, how about you accompany your companion to the airport, as you both are quite...'Close.' Mr Saikou spoke, Megamo nods as soon as the words leave his mouth. The rainfall is progressively getting worse so he offers her his umbrella,"Would you like to... Share an umbrella? You wouldn't want to catch a cold when you're about to leave Japan." He questions her, feeling slightly more bold towards Y/n.
"I'd like that." Y/n grins, Megamo feels warm knowing he caused her to smile like that. He doesn't see her smile like that often, after all she's been through and rightfully so but she looks ethereal in the moon's spotlight with a grin as bright as the stars itself. He walks alongside Y/n to the limousine, and they sit at the back.
Mr Ronshaku, sits up front and Megamo and Y/n are at the back of the limousine; Mr Saikou has order a car full of bodyguards to reside in front of their car, to guide them to the airport. After some final goodbye's, the car's are off and they are on the road, which is clear as day due to it being cleared just so they could avoid traffic. They have to take the longer route to suit the route they have planned in advance but Y/n didn't mind, as long as she got to speak to Megamo in person a little while longer. The clouds shoot bullets down onto the two cars and pitter-patters of the rain crashing onto the car's surface are heard throughout the journey.
Y/n lies her head against the cool window, observing the car that's in front of theirs, she really is going to miss Japan, her friends and Megamo. She'll miss the times they spent together and she's sorry she can't use her voice to speak up against a demon like Ayato. She's so caught up in her thoughts that she doesn't even notice the thick cloud of smoke covering the road up ahead.
The driver in the first car, panics, crashing into a street lamp they couldn't have seen due to the white smoke.
She's pulled out of her thoughts by the bang she heard from the impact of the car ahead.
Shortly after, they crash into it.
Her head smashed into her father's seat and her mind goes blank.
The smell of smoke floats up her nose, she's suffocating.
Her lungs feel as if they are being burnt from the inside and her throat is too.
She opens her eyes and they water up, it hurts to even look around as the car is trapped emerged in smoke. Her head spins and she can't focus, she unfastens her seat belt and looks to her right to see an unconscious Megamo beside her. His seatbelt clicks as it's been undone and she forces the car door open, it releases toxic smelling fumes into the night sky and she drags him onto the wet road. His clothes are dampened by rain and so are hers but she doesn't care in the moment. He lies there, unresponsive without any movement and she fears the worst.
She rushes back to the car, opening the driver's side, getting the driver out the car and moving them away from the smoke along with her father as well. All three of them lay still on the floor and she falls to her knees, placing her ear against Megamo's heart.
It's still beating.
She checked her father and the other drivers pulse, it's slow but their alive.
She would cry in relief but no one would be able to tell due to the rainfall. Her eyes land on the car that was in front of theirs-
Boom.
The car bursts into flame, and red embers dance on top of the vehicle battling against the heavy rainfall. She pats her pocket, remembering her phone, she can't use it in this weather so she has to seek shelter in that worn down building. She has to call an ambulance and the police! She runs inside, tugging the door to the building open, she can't help but think of horror movies where she'd shout at the screen when the character was obviously walking into danger and only survived due to the fact that their a main character.
Her clothes drip droplets of water onto the smooth surface of the floor, her back is facing the door and she's not focused on her surroundings. All that matters is typing in the digits for an ambulance.
1.
1.
9.
Her phone is shaking as she presses the digits into the phone, she looks down at her hands to see them trembling in fear. Nothing will happen to her. Nothing will happen. She replays those words in her mind like a broken record while the phone screens light blinds her due to the drastic contrast of the almost pitch black environment around her. The only other source of light is the door she left ajar, to provide her with some moonlight.
Nothing will happen to her-
Suddenly, a masked figure with the same red faced demon from the drama performance appears next to her, snatching her phone out her hand with a great force and throwing it to the ground. It all happened so quickly, especially when the masked culprit goes back out her exit and locks the door, trapping her in darkness.
Is that Ayato?
She can't believe it.
She will be his next victim and he gets to carry on his life, after finally getting rid of the most persistent person trying to get him behind bars. What will he do once he's done with her? Live out the life she's always envisioned for herself? Get his dream job, maybe have a family or travel the world, after robbing so many people's future from them.
Her inner monologue is interupted by the lights above her head flashing with light, some of the lights flickered but it was better than being in the darkness. "Hello Y/n." A voice begins, through a speaker she sees, this voice is familiar and putting the pieces together shows that it's clearly Ayato. "My condolences for your hopefully dead 'friend' Megamo and your father... The crook. The only way you'll ever be able to make it out those doors is by obeying my words." Ayato laughs at the end, it echoes through the building and it brings a shiver up her spine knowing he's somewhere in the building. He clearly finds this amusing and she's not interested in playing his sick game, to taunt her yet again, "Throughout this entire building you'll need to find...Parts. If you search through these parts thoroughly you may find a key, to free your precious Budo Matsuda. Around his neck is a key to your escape. See, Y/n? I'm not this villain you paint me out to be. I'm helping you, I'm protecting you, even when you constantly push me away I still remain loyal to you, Y/n." Ayato says calmly, Y/n ignores him, she doesn't have time to for Ayato trying to get into her head.
She walks down the hallways, familiarizing herself with the layout of the building that appears to have formerly been an up and running school. She slides open a door, seeing a cabinet on the wall where one of those 'parts' Ayato was talking about could possibly be. She twists the handle, opening it up and she lets out a scream.
Beruma's head lands with a thud, blood oozing out the cabinet after being released (some of the blood got onto her hand) and it rolled to her feet. She feels the vomit rising in her throat, the look a tear frozen on Beruma's face forever. She doesn't want to look, she can't even look away and she notices a slip of paper, laying on her tongue, 'You've found one out of six parts <3'. Y/n stumbled over her own feet, backing away from the head, "Why so scared Y/n? I thought you'd be use to all this by now, it seems their is infact no key in her mouth either. Why don't you check behind her eye?" Ayato questions, Y/n is sickened by the thought of even doing such a thing, she hears him cackling again, "I'm not being serious, Y/n. The fear in your face is adorable, I can't wait to have you all to myself. I've waited so long..." Ayato trails off, Y/n uses the desk beside her to regain her balance, what the hell is he on about?
"What the hell are you talking about? All your doing is taunting me and then you'll get rid off me just like everyone else! Kokona, my sister, Saki and the rest! It was all you!" Y/n shouts, with a dazed yet furious expression on her face, she couldn't even describe the emotions rushing through her right now. He was playing with her as if she was food on a plate and she was being strung along the entire time. "Did Horuda finally crack and tell you? I suppose you can't keep much a secret when you simply just... Snap." Ayato says, he's talking like this is your every day average conversation while she's scared out of her mind. How did he even know that?
"How would you even know I went to see her?" Y/n questions, scrambling to her feet, she's not sure if he can hear her well but she noticed the security camera's she passed in the hallway. Her objective is to find where Budo is being held captive and getting a weapon like a crowbar to pry the door open instead off getting scarred for life. "I know your every movement, everyone you talk to, every person you even glance at even if it was just for a second and I know exactly where you are right now." He answers, Y/n feels goosebumps forming all over her skin, not just because of him but the coldness of the building.
She doesn't say anything in reply, she squeezes her eyes shut when she opens a lone locker she found in the hallway and she feels the daunting pressure knowing she'll eventually have to open her eyes. The locker clicks open and out falls Frueddo's... Head. She wants to throw up and the worst thing is she had to turn it around with her foot and she still didn't find any key, not in the mouth or ear.
She's beginning to believe this key thing is a lie or she might have to take his words seriously and start looking behind their eye. She'd rather believe the key is a lie than do that. She's dragging her legs at this point and they are beginning to burn from walking up and down, to take her mind off the pain there's something she just needs to know, "Why are you doing this? Did you plan on keeping me alive just so you could do this! So, you could finally kill me!?" She questioned, through a shaky voice, she was answered by silence till he spoke up.
"Kill you? No, I'm protecting you." Ayato responds, she just knows he's smiling, she can tell by his cheery tone. How has he worked out in his mind that this is protecting someone? Why would she need protecting? Why her? "Protecting? If anything I need protection from you!" Y/n shouts, she feels the weights of everyone she's lost shouting with her.
"Don't be like that Y/n...Think about the toxic people around you, Y/n. That bitch Beruma was going to ruin your life even more, she's so convinced it was you that she jumped at the chance to come to my house to rant about you. Saying, that your a 'danger' a 'threat'." Ayato explained, Y/n couldn't help but feel hurt that Beruma felt that confident that she was a killer and died with a lie on her lips. "It's not like Frueddo was any better, he gave in so fast when things got tough and he resorted to stabbing you in the back. So, I stabbed him in the back, he survived and we had a nice chat in my basement. Don't you see? Throughout these... Let's say eleven weeks, these people have tried getting between us."
Y/n contemplates his words as she made her way to the workshop she found, conveniently she found a crowbar and her eyes shine brighter than anything in this dark building could. She grips the cold metal in her hand and for once she feels like she's holding true power. Is this how Ayato felt when he had a weapon in hand? The sensation of blood and a cool metal against her hand unnerved her, this feeling definitely felt natural to Ayato.
She has to kill him.
It's either her or him.
She begins walking at a quicker pace, with the thuds of her steps matching the beats of her thumping heart. Her breath was raggedy and she pushed through the pain even though she wanted to give up so bad,"Us? There is no us? There will never be an us? You've taken everything from me! You've ruined my life!" Y/n yelled, she rethinks his words as they highlight something important. 'These people where getting between us.'
"Ruined your life? Oh, naïve Y/n, you are so oblivious to all their true nature's, that's why you need to be with me. Osana was nothing but a grown childish brat; Amao thought he could get in your head through pastries and whatnot; Kizano thought the world revolved around him, making him a self-centered and selfish, he could never care for you like I do."Ayato begins to list off, the hatred in his tone was prevalent and the distaste on his face when they were around makes sense now.
"Oko is a stalker that I saved you from ; Aso really thought he could help you, when all you need is me ; don't even get me started on those perverts praying down on your weakened mental state. Osorō is a violent, deranged walking time bomb that could of seriously hurt you; Hanakō is just some silly, stubborn child. Did you think Megamo wanted to protect you out of the kindness of his heart? He is doing it because of his family's history with mine, you are nothing to him." Ayato spat, Y/n has a feeling in her gut that she is close to Budo as Ayato's words are getting louder, meaning she's near him.
"You have to come to terms with your errors, I have and so should you. I thought that empty living vessel Taeko could truly make me feel anything. But, I have to give credit where it's due and say she did help me in a way get to you! You are the person who will save me Y/n. Like how I've been saving you." Ayato states, there is a sharpness to his tone, the way he speaks about Taeko is horrible but how can she possibly save a mad man?
Her ear is rested against a door, she hears a muffled noise behind the door, he has to be there. He is her only chance to escape, every window is based up and she can't even use the crowbar on some of the doors.
"Y/n Aishi, it sounds so perfect...Don't you think?" He asks, Y/n assumes it's rhetorical because he doesn't give her time to answer, "Afterall, I've been by your side all along, I was the one sending you those gifts, I was the one who got Yua for you, I comforted you and I actually stayed with you! Unlike the rest of them. Musume, Kokona and Saki left you, your own sister treats you horribly; you think your so called friends are any better? Leading your mind to some cliff waiting for you to jump off with them. Tell me Y/n, would you jump with them?"
"Of course I would you stupid- Bitch!" Y/n prys the door open using a credit card to slide it through the latch, it opens with such force that it hits the wall, her eyes land on a very alert Budo with his light blue fabric used as a gag. Didn't Frueddo have something similar to that around his neck? "Budo! I'll get you out of here!" Y/n lunges at the rope that blinded him to the chair.
Creak.
"Mhm mhhm!" Budo's words are muffled, she pauses staring into his eyes looking from her to something else, her eyes glance to the crowbar she placed onto the floor next to her. She snatches it up with such haste, turning around to be met with cold doll-like eyes, "Tch, tch, tch Y/n. That's cheating. You always were so eger to bend the rules, so resistant yet so malleable... You will learn to listen and you will learn to love me."
Y/n swings the crowbar with the intent to kill, only for Ayato to catch it just as it was about to connect with his head, "You'd really try hurting me after all I've done for you?" He says in a mocking mixed with a sad tone. "Mhm!" Budo let's out, directing her gaze to the syringe inside of his hand. "Quiet, Budo. Me and Y/n are just talking." Ayato responds, letting go off the crowbar and walking towards her, she knows he's trying to back her up into a corner but if she remains still he could just jab her with the needle.
She does the first thing that comes to mind, which is to sway her crowbar again.
He has it in his grasp yet again and sweat drips off her forehead as it is clear this is the end for her.
He notices that she makes no attempt to try hitting him again, her shoulders are slumped and he's only a few steps in front off her, "Self defense class from Budo paid off, isn't that right Budo?" He laughs, shortening the distance between him and Y/n, taking her hand and making her drop the weapon, "See? Isn't it so much easier when you're, obedient? I'm nothing without you and you are nothing with me, Y/n. You complete me." He smiles, the blush on his face is clear despite the flickering lights in the room. The syringe is in his right hand, etching closer to her neck but in one swell stab a screwdriver cuts digs deep into the flesh in his skin.
He lets out an ear-splitting scream and Y/n takes her chance to push him away.
The door!
Come on she's so close-
Her hair just had to ruin everything.
A sharp tug pulls her back and she finds herself falling to the floor, her head thuds against the floor and the pain was already intense and now it's even worse. "You just had to make things-" Ayato pauses, gritted his teeth to rip the screwdriver out, "Difficult!"
She feels a sharp pinch in her neck, everything is blurry, "Don't worry everything will make sense when we're finally together, forever." He laughs, as her vision fades to black.
Today is the long awaited court trial, and the whole nation is at home ready to watch this spectacle. He's arrived in the exact suit he wore for Musume's funeral, alongside a bandage to stop blood from gushing out of his stab wound. Horuda is standing beside him and the loud murmurs of the crowd grew progressively.
The fact that the news headline, 'Coincident or an Underlying Occurrence' has been trending throughout social media during the days off the upcoming trial. His mother's words come to mind 'People will always have their doubts.' He checked his watch and it was safe to say there was no Plaintiff in sight. There was no one to accuse him off a crime, since Y/n is well... In safe hands and Saki has gone up in flames-
The doors creak open and silence covers the courtroom.
In the flesh, Saki herself, accompanied bandages over presumably third degree burns and the worse thing off all...She's alive.
