~~~An hour after the gala~~~~
~~~Violet POV~~~
I laid on the hood of the car smoking 2 cigarettes. At the same time, I let the smoke surround me all over; I heard the engines roared around me. I also smelled burned rubber tires against the roads, I could taste almost oil in the air and heard the different metals clanging.
I took a deep breath It's good to be back
"2 cigarettes in your mouth at once?" Diggy scoffed " how lady like."
I sat up right to look at Diggy. Diggy's mouth fell open, he took a step back, and he lifted his finger while trembling.
"What is going on with your eyes?" he said while his voice held echoes of shock.
I took a long drag out my cigarettes and blew into the air and I looked at him" what you don't like my new eyes?" I betted my eyelashes and gave him a smirk.
"It looks scary like you are soulless. But at the same time hypnotizing. I can't look away at the same time" Diggy was looking into my eyes, while I furrowed her brows,
I chuckled "then don't." I jumped of the hood of the car and started walking away
"You know, I've been feeling your absence, right?" I heard his voice behind me. So I turned around while slowly walking backwards. I started to Turl my hair.
"oh really. Then why you let Zurie organize Branson's first race." he raised his brow at me. At my words
"Hey there, don't you dare ask me how I know? Because you can't hold secrets around here, especially not from someone as charming as ME." I winked flirtatiously
Diggy rubbed his jaw but responded ""Darling, you're as timeless as success itself. You know, business waits for no one." I rolled my eyes at his words. I turned around, made way to the vendor.
" I would like hotdog and sprite. His paying." I said without looking at him for conformation.
I just saw Diggy put money down and then he kissed my cheek "but you know I can't run this without you ." he whispered
"Whatever ." I picked up my food . "Oh can you please give. Me couple extra sugar packets." I asked the sever and he tossed it to me. I began to stroll away. I took a look back just to see if he was still following me.
Diggy teased, a playful smirk dancing on his lips as he raised an eyebrow. "Where you going? Thought we were having a heart-to-heart?" He cocked his head slightly, his eyes lingering on me with a mix of curiosity and amusement, one hand gesturing towards the space between you as if drawing an invisible connection that shouldn't be broken.
I chuckled "you will see soon enough." I played with the sugar packet, between my fingers. I turned around to look him in the eyes "make sure you don't put money down on your champ."
The wind was kissing my shoulders .and I heard the cracking . under my shoes.
my crisp white tank top that contrasts sharply against the backdrop of the abandoned warehouse. The fabric clings to my torso. My denim shorts, a faded shade of blue, hug my hips comfortably.
I looked around for Branson and I couldn't see him or his car.
"How did we get here?" I tuned around to see Zurie.
I shrugged my shoulders "what?" I turned away to look at Zurie's sharp eyes, a mix of betrayal and hurt reflecting in them.
"We use to be friends in kindergarten." She took a breath "You stabbed me in the back, for Sydney. They cheated on me and you chose her." She took a swig of her drink. I really didn't care about her words. I kept looking around, for Branson.
Then I saw him pull up to the racing ground. Then I turned my back and rolled my eyes "Now is not the time." I kept walking "forget the old days, it will never be the same."
"I should of known." I heard her groggy voice " you know I thought you might have change after getting dragged and battered around like that."
I froze I turned around, to look at her . The atmosphere grew heavier, the unspoken words resonating louder than our heated exchange. My tongue felt like a serpent and my mouth was a cage. Trying to contain it.
She stook a step forward, her voice was icy "what is going on with your eyes?.... why your eyes yellow"
A bitter smile grew on my lips.
She took another sip of her cup. "your facade crumbling . And I see your true colors." Zurie gave a laughter was devoid of warmth.
"Take those colors and paint your room. I don't care what you see." My voice cut through her like knives. I knew that by how she jerked.
I stride away from her, because this argument was reaching it's climax. I took a bite out of my hot dog. And took a gulp of my sprite
"Come back you coward!" Zurie called out.
I just ignored her made my way to Branson. He was busy getting dapped up by his racing peers. I finished off the hot dog and stood right in front of him. I still had my sprite, in my hand.
"Ah look who it is?" Branson smirked " Shouldn't you be resting up ?" The people chuckled around us.
"Well, hello there, Branson. I see you're still as charming as ever." I raised my eyebrow and flashed him a mocked smile. I felt someone place their hand on my shoulder
Álvaro's eyes sparkled mischievously as he spoke, his tone dripping with playful sarcasm. "Well look who it is?" he exclaimed, his arms open wide in mock surprise, as if he had stumbled upon a rare spectacle. "The great Violet who brought Branson out of retirement!" His grin widened, punctuating the sentence with an exaggerated wink, teasing me with his words and gestures.
"What is going on with your eyes..."Branson blurted out .Alvaro just froze and looked at my eyes.
"What do you mean. YOU don't like it." I winked at him
"It's different?" Alvaro said
I turned my head to look at Branson's new ride. I ran a hand all over the hood. "You did good with this." I flicked my hands as if I touched something hot.
"yeah Branson won the last race with... Hey I bet you made a pretty damn penny?" Alvaro crossed his arms and look at Branson.
Branson gave a bitter chuckle and then he muttered "well I didn't get my first bag? as a form of payback."
"All of it?" I gasped. He just nodded his head.
"Don't worry. Maybe you will luck out tonight?" Alvaro shrugged
He Tightly pressed his lips "so who am I racing with. I really need the money to pay back Sydney."
Alvaro crunched his brows together "shouldn't you pay your sister's hospital."
"Don't get me started." Branson turned to look at me
"It's a 5 man race. go to the front desk to check in." I smirked.
Alvaro eyes widened, "A five man race? You really, know how to put on a show." Alvaro exclaimed
"Well I'll give you the show you want." Branson said while put
I just smiled. Branson started to walk away, shaking his head.
I watched as he disappeared. I walked towards his car. And pick opened the fuel tank. I poured the sugar packet into the gas tank, a sly grin played on my lips. The sound of the granules hitting the metal echoed in the tense air. Alvaro, engrossed in the conversation, hadn't noticed my covert actions.
Branson's silhouette disappeared around the corner, leaving the scene to unfold in a suspenseful hush. The dim light cast ominous shadows as I closed the gas tank with a barely audible click.
Alvaro's voice cut through the silence, "What are you doing?"
I turned to him, a mischievous glint in my eyes, "Just adding a little sweetness to the race. Let's see how Branson handles it." The smirk on my face hinted at the impending chaos, as the echoes of my daring act lingered in the air, setting the stage for a dramatic turn of events.
Alvaro's eyes widened in disbelief, caught between curiosity and concern. "Sweetness to the race? Are you serious?"
I chuckled, enjoying the thrill of the impending mischief. "Oh, absolutely. Branson wants a show, and I aim to deliver."
Just as the words left my lips, Branson reappeared, his confident stride contrasting with the unknowing danger brewing under the hood of his racing machine.
Alvaro, torn between loyalty and a hint of amusement, shot me a sidelong glance. "You're playing a dangerous game."
I winked, "Isn't that what makes it interesting?"
Alvaro phone started to ring. His eyes nearly jumped out his head ""HE-Hey, what's up." he walked away.
"Hey Branson." I said while batting my lashes
he was on his way to get in his car but froze to looked at me. I walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. " Good luck."
The same one Judas gave to Jesus.
He pulled away from me so quick. "What was that for?"
I just winked and walked away. I just stood proudly at the sidelines watching. They were all getting ready for the race. Branson got in the car.
As the engines roared to life on the racetrack, the anticipation in the air was palpable. Branson revved his engine, the sweetened fuel coursing through the car's veins, ready to unleash chaos on the asphalt.
The race began, tires screeching as the cars sped away. Branson's car, initially leading, started sputtering and slowing down, the sugary interference taking its toll. A mix of confusion and frustration played across Branson's face.
My eyes gleaming, with the satisfaction of a well-executed plan.
As Branson's car came to a stuttering halt, he shot a bewildered glance in my direction. I met his gaze with a nonchalant shrug, a silent declaration that the race had indeed become the show he asked for, just not in the way he expected.
That's what you, get for leaving me at the station
I glanced back at the racetrack, where chaos had replaced competition. With a satisfied grin, I vanished into the night, leaving behind the echoes of a race that had become much more than anyone had bargained for.
My phone started buzz
Did you like how Sydney was wearing your blood- Fortune teller
Then it me like a ton of bricks. I remembered when I laid lifeless on the ground
I felt a prick on my arm. I turn my head to see what is going on it was, extracting blood out my body with a syringe
Then I remembered Sydney's words
I have to wear it
I remember her bloody white dress. So it was my blood of the dress
I felt disgusted, so exposed but I made my home. On foot into the total darkness, totally scared.
