Aru's pov
Aru and Aiden stayed up till 6 am packing some food for the trip. Aru reached inside her bag to get her phone but instead came in contact with paper. She pulled it out seeing it was the envelope from earlier.
"What's that?" Aiden asked.
"An envelope I found in your wrecked house" Aru replied, tearing it open. She took her phone out of her bag, put it on flashlight and held it up to read the note.
My dear, dear Aru.
Aru, Aru, Aru.
What have you done?
By living with your friends you put them in danger.
It took a couple wrecked houses and maybe more.
But I will get you back.
It's time for a family reunion.
-The Sleeper
She dropped the note.
"What's wrong?" Aiden asked.
She took a deep breath. "I know who the person is"
"What person?"
"Who wrecked our apartments. Read this note"
Aiden read the note. "So they want you. But we're not going to let them get you. I'm not going to let them. Is that what you're worried about?"
"No it's" Aru pointed at the sign. "It's that part because I know exactly who it is and I really don't want to believe it"
"Who is it?"
"My father. Suyodhana Shah. And that's his gang name. The Sleeper."
"He was in a gang?"
"Yeah. Now I remember"
Flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aru stayed plastered to the wall. She was only 4 and she was being a ninja.
"Suyodhana! That's illegal!"
"So what? It's for our family"
"No, tell them you want to quit"
"Kara is sick! She'll die, she's only 5!"
"We'll get the money in a legal way! Not working in a gang!"
"I can't quit anyway! I'm their leader!"
"So what? Disband or something! Are you going to keep doing illegal stuff under the name of the Sleeper? Then leave."
Silence.
"Fine then"
Flashback end-
Aru didn't understand most of the words that they said. She heard 'The Sleeper' and 'Leader'. But him and Kara left the next day.
She felt arms wrap around her and she felt the tears stain his shirt. It meant that she was putting her friends in danger. So maybe-
"No" Aiden said firmly. "I know what you're thinking. No. You are not leaving for our safety"
"But then-"
"Aru, I said no!"
"Fine"
Aru got up.
"I'll wake up Rudy."
She woke up Rudy. He got up from the couch and threw the blankets off. Aru shrieked.
"Why don't you have a shirt?"
"It was hot okay, calm down"
"What's the noise in here?" A voice asked. Mini walked in, rubbing her eyes. And then her eyes went wide open.
"What-huh-Aru?" She stuttered. Aru was turned the other way and had her eyes squeezed shut while Aiden looked through his suitcase to find something for Rudy. He threw a black shirt at him and Rudy put it on.
"Are you fully clothed?" Aru asked, turning around.
"Fully clothed" Rudy confirmed. "Hey Aiden, why do you have a shirt on? Didn't you feel hot?"
"I didn't sleep"
"Oh. Why's Aru here?"
"I didn't sleep"
"Oh. Wait, Mini's here. Oh gods, she saw me shirtless?"
"I did" Mini confirmed. Rudy jumped onto the couch and hid under the covers.
"Rudy, get out of there" Aru called, recovering from the sight. "We're having breakfast and then heading out"
"Ugh. Who's driving first?"
"You" Aiden and Aru responded at the same time.
"NO!" Rudy groaned. "Oh. Because you didn't sleep?"
"Yeah" Aiden replied. "And then whoever wakes up first out of me and Aru drives next"
"Okay. 4 hours each? And then the two hours left over could be the one who wakes up first"
"Okay"
"Wow. That was some quick planning" Mini complemented. "My flight leaves in an hour, so I'll stay here"
"Okay. See you at Christmas"
"Wait, you might want to say bye to Brynne and Hira. I'll wake them up"
Two minutes later, Brynne and Hira came.
"Bye. We're leaving now" Aru said, walking toward them. They hugged and Aru pulled Mini in.
"Ugh, they always hug. Girls, am I right?" Aru heard Rudy say behind them.
"No. Let them do their thing." Aiden replied.
And then they left.
"I call backseat!" Aru claimed.
"Ugh no! I don't want to sleep in the shotgun" Aiden scowled.
"Too bad" Aru opened the backseat door and took a blanket and pillow from her bag. She set it up and made her self comfortable.
"Wait" Aiden said. "When are you going to tell them about the thing?"
Aru got up and ran back to the house. She'd left the note there! They'd think the wrong thing!
She knocked and they opened the door.
"Aru? I found this note-" Hira said.
"I know who wrecked our things"
She explained it to them.
"This is...this is so much" Brynne said, running her hand through her hair. "It means so much"
"Yeah"
"So now what?" Mini asked. "We have to hide you. And where are we going to stay after break? Hira's place isn't an option because it's a matter of time before he finds out about her"
"We can't be in Boo's place can we?" Aru said. "He's too much of a risk"
"Speaking of Boo" Brynne said. "Do you think we might be able to find stuff in his place? Boo was a friend of your father right?"
"Oh!" Aru said, snapping her fingers. "You know, that might just be the smartest thing you've ever said"
"Hey!" Brynne smiled and thumped her on her back. A little too hard because Aru's knees buckled.
"So we ask Boo if we can live there to find out some stuff?" Mini asked, rubbing her temples worriedly. "That's a little risky. If he really is still associated with your dad, I mean."
"It is" Aru agreed. "We'll stay there for a week and then leave without telling him. If we can't find anything in that week, we'll stay for a little longer"
"Okay. Now go"
Aru came back to the car and saw Aiden sleeping in the shotgun. She climbed on to the back seat and told Rudy to drive.
And for the second time, her sleep was full of darkness.
Okay. Cool.
I don't really like how this chapter turned out. I'm not going to lie.
But I had to hurry with the plot a little.
Anyway, I've decided something. There's gonna be five epilogues.
Yes. Five.
1 for each ship and then 1 for Drew and then 1 for all of them.
What do you think of the chapter?
