The war in Reslania/Yelovsk rages on in South-West of the Varikan Empire. Caught in a crossfire of La Ferdina, Varika and in some cases Esterria, it proved destructive and costly in terms of manpower and materiel such as self-propelled carriages... at least to them.
The Free State of Reslania and its 'army', the Reslanian People's Front against all odd, achieved staggering victories against the supposed Gestraen superpower and and one of the great powers. Because of this, Reslanis started to revolt seemingly everywhere, further adding to the bottleneck of La Ferdina and Varika.
Reslania could only thank the Commonwealth of Esterria and the Federal Republic of Flashia for making this possible, but the revolution has only started, and their goal is far from achieved.
...
FIIA Headquarters, Fresserik, Tilenogtyve, Flashia, 30/08/2017 The Federal Investigative & Intelligence Agency is the one that Flashia turns to when it comes to federal-level cases within the country and collecting intelligence from abroad. Headquartered in the city of Fresserik, their offices have been loaded with works to do on a daily basis ever since the transfer happened.
Every 7 days each week, FIIA agents come by and work with a lot of things, such as intelligence regarding potentially and outright hostile nations, in this case it's anyone except for Esterria, Naeslagtland and the Free State of Reslania, and domestic investigations.
In recent times however, the offices are being loaded with Reslania-related things, as Flashia had moved in to support the RPF with all the information it could gather. In the meantime however, there has also been cases of mysterious disappearance of citizens in Flashia, particularly in Nexucia, none of which left much of a trace.
"Fucking hell man, why is there so much work to do?"
"You've been having that same old complaint ever since we ended up in god knows where now, it won't get you anywhere with the work"
"Oh, and Zoran, mind doing this for me?"
While most indulges themselves to providing intel to the Reslanians, some focused more to the disappearances with the only common link being that they all happened near the coastal area.
"I don't like the sound of this..."
"What do you mean?"
"Too many people disappeared on too short of a timeline spaced out too far for a single person to do this"
Indeed, 30 people had disappeared in a wide variety of areas in a span of 3 hours, it had to be a group behind this.
"So you think they were kidnapped?"
"Yep, can't find any other explanation for those"
"Who do you think did this?"
"I don't know, some gangs or any organized criminals maybe?"
"But there's nothing that leads to any of that"
"...Well shit, you're right"
The agent groaned as he seemed hopeless in cracking the case, with his head descending down to his table. The other just stood there seemingly trying to think this through. And then... there was something in his minds.
"All these are happening in coastal area yes?"
The FIIA agent turns his face to his colleague, head still down.
"Yeah? What about it?"
The guy said nothing, just standing still looking at him as if he's trying to imply something.
"No... you're telling me they've been nicking them from the sea?"
"Took you long enough"
"Fucking hell man..."
An obvious answer was right in front of him this whole time. As he sat up then facepalming to quite an embarrassing moment to him. At least he found the most possible universal answer to all the missing cases, even if how they found it was quite ridiculous to say the least.
"...My only question is how the hell did they get past the Coast Guard, let alone the Navy?"
...
Ever since the whole rebellion happened, Varikan troops and their La Ferdinan part has been dealing with insurgencies popping out of everywhere day and night. While most were not much of a problem, precious resources and manpower were spent for each that arose and quashed.
This, coupled with the threat of the Reslanian People's Front, meant that costs exceeded expectation, with more troops being dedicated to the whole war. In recent times however, they were able to drag Gošbania and Saogaulia into their war to directly support them with their own soldiers.
30/08/1702 In the former case, they focus their effort in helping their Varikan counterparts in Eastern Yelovsk, which has an even longer border with Esterria. Compared to the ones near South-West and La Ferdinan territory, however, it seems awfully quiet...
"It's too quiet don't you think?" commented a Gošbanian soldier.
"Yes, but I rather this than fighting whatever the Reslanian People's Front is..." replied the other one.
"Same for me... but think about it, what if it's a sign for something worse?"
"Oh Jakov, my friend, you're just overthinking things"
Indeed, there were much less rebellions starting as a result of the Varikan-La Ferdinan failures to stop the RPF from expanding to other places and quash them. They had the chance to do so, but as it seems, this rebellion is beyond anyone's thinking.
It is perhaps for this reason that the troops here are relaxed, and morale starts to gradually recover for the Varikan troops, even if tensions also ran high with Esterria.
It also does have an economic benefit for Varika, so basically the Reslanians had shot themselves in the foot for not focusing much on their Eastern side of things, but the sense of unease is still there for most.
"Hey, you hear that?" spoke the soldier, Jakov again.
"Hear what?"
"Is it me or is there a faint roaring in the air?"
That faint roaring Jakov talked about had came out of nowhere, and as more notice it as time goes on, one could wonder what it could be. It became louder and louder by the second, not as loud though, and then a resounding whistle before an extremely short silence.
KABOOM
A big explosion erupted at a fortress they were stationed, turning much of it into rubbles within a few seconds. Before they had realized it, A large number of the soldiers there had already perished...
KABOOM
...As another mysterious projectile strikes the fort again.
...
"Confirmed hits on the fortress, it's a goner now"
Jonnik, Esterria A battery of multiple rocket launcher of the Flash Army sits comfortably behind the border while they hit the Varikans from far away. It would've been an unfair fight, but since when war has been fair?
For them, it's another day dominating with their centuries ahead tech.
These MLRS, designated the A-Raketstyr 84, are being used to hit targets deep across the border, and it's only possible because of the artillery system immense range compared to other artillery system. It's also quite accurate too as it uses GMLRS rockets.
Accuracy isn't quite there yet though. While inertial navigation system doesn't need any satellites, it wouldn't be as accurate as when the rockets are paired with GPS, a capability that Flashia hasn't 100% restored for the time being.
Because of this, this battery enacts a double-tap policy, meaning they shoot twice under the impression that if the first shot doesn't hit, the second might. Drones would also be deployed to aid their activities.
"Did the word of us bombarding from across the border get sent over to the Reslanian boys?"
"FIIA already took care of that"
"Of course it's the fucking FIIA..."
"Speaking of which, how are the Zetas doing over there?"
The Land Army isn't actually alone however, as the Heerschaar (Esterrian Royal Army) also moved in with their own artillery systems. Howitzers, both light and heavy, 105 and 155, are pulled by trucks to the border between the Eastern border of Esterria and Varika.
"Seems we're late to the party eh?"
"It seems so"
As they hauled their howitzers around the MLRS started to fire rockets at the Varikans again while their Esterrian counterparts get closer. The truck's brakes were slammed, and in a few seconds it would fully stop.
The artillerists would get off the truck from 2 sides: left from the cabin, back from the truck bed. All of them would run and regroup at their howitzer, getting it off the truck and begin setting the artillery up as the truck begins moving away as to not interfere with the process.
The howitzer is now aiming at the Varikan territory, trails are dug into the soil, and the barrel is in the process of aiming up according to the distance to the target.
"Hey mind checking that coordinates again?"
"Yep, uh... 41-Quill-Essence-Inter-Terra-Light-163429*"
"You heard him boys!"
The Esterrians began to compensate for the repeated coordinates from its first position, moving a bit to the right, and slightly lowering the barrel. After that, all was set up, now the only job is to load the shell in.
A few guys would be the loaders, two would handle the ammunition and the explosive charge, and one responsible for ramming them in. The lever is pulled to open the breech, the shell quickly shoved in, then the charge which would also be rammed into battery.
"Ready..."
With the breech closed, and the firing solution all set, all they had to do now is...
"FIRE!"
BANG
...
3km across the border, Eastern Yelovsk, Varikan Empire "What's happening out there?!"
What is unfolding in front of the Varikan and Gošbanian troops right at this time is explosion erupting at almost all their outposts near their border. Magic Detectors aren't showing anything, and no one could see who attacked them.
"Where are these bar-"
KABOOM
The troops knows how bad they're having it in this situation. To many, this is the wrath of one of the gods, who to be specific? Who knows? To some, it's the Esterrians across the border that is behind this, but if it was then the detectors should pick up something.
Plus, the magic cannons wouldn't be this accurate at this range...
This attack on the KUG troops is of that of impossibilities. Even worse, the forts they were sent from isn't even responding to their cry for help.
"What do you mean they aren't answering back?!"
"I tried everything but I don't hear anything from them!"
"TRY HARDER THEN!"
Even then, the other fortresses are simply still not responding to their cries, so the only thing the troops out there could do now, is hopelessly watch their positions being bombarded.
"What do you mean those Reslanis are advancing?!"
...
Trucks with improvised up-armoring consisting of plates slapped onto them, spreading out an entire fields are heading to the Eastern occupied area of what was once Reslania. Each of these trucks either have HMGs or not, but all of them carries infantry along with them.
The road is a bit bumpy, but it could've been worse if this Reslanian People's Front contingents decided to use carriages instead. Explosions started to land near the advancing trucks, meaning they have been spotted by their enemy and the fight now begins here.
"Spread out further, don't go into a straight line and don't let them predict where you're going!"
Machine guns started to open up in short bursts while aim is constantly thrown off by the vehicle going up and down every now and then, only made worse with the trucks maneuvering. But hey, anything to force their head down right?
Projectiles from the magic cannons of KUG troops are still aiming for them, but the accuracy is now extremely wild now that the RPF took measure to evade the fire, it also helps that the trucks were quite fast as well.
Speaking of being fast, they were closing distance to the enemy troops, so while they still can't get a good aim at them, the risks are getting higher by the second, and one would be bound to be hit... had they not change directions.
"Flank around, get 'em on two sides"
The group of trucks split up into two, further complicating the battle for the Varikan and Gošbanian troops defending the area. However, it also made the MG's life harder, at least in getting on target as they now also have to compensate for the constantly deviating targets.
After they did this however, they seem to be no incoming fire from the KUG soldiers, which are quite strange for the RPF fighters on these vehicles. One of them grabs a radio, with questions winning over him.
"Can someone check their positions?"
"Give me a little bit of time, I'll check with our Flashian counterparts"
In the beginning, Flashia has supported the Reslanian rebels in one way or another. Coupled with the fact it is a fellow republic, the country became desirable for the RPF. They became even closer to them with the news of their military bombarding the Imperialist fortresses from the Esterrian border, but the support still remains mostly intelligence.
Despite this, it's still extremely valuable, as Kramovskiy needs every information on their enemies they could get their hands on as the war progresses.
"They confirmed they're still there, they're apparently having troubles getting the cannons on us"
Just as the transmission was sent, the trucks began to stop, with the fighters grabbing what they need before they dismount the trucks.
"Thanks a lot, we'll take it from here" as the radioman grabs his underfolding M70 while at the same time putting the radio away. Everyone on the bed of the trucks, save for the heavy machine gunner if they have one, jumped onto the ground before proceeding with the attack.
From here onwards, the infantry would take care the rest while the trucks took a supporting role. They would cover their on-foot counterparts until they inevitably reach their location, storming the KUG's positions and beginning to wipe them out one-by-one.
Explosions were heard in the background, but as far as everyone, at least in the RPF knows, it's Flashia and Esterria doing their thing. Gunshots became sporadic and frequent, with the start of a broader offensive into the East marked here.
...
5 hours later
Blokovič, Nexusija In the coastal town of Nexusija, at night, while things are quieting down, a certain vehicle with a certain group stays awake, pretending to sleep while the others take their slumbers. Members of the FIIA is here in Blokovič, waiting for a certain something to happen.
"So when do you think they're going to show up?"
"Anytime now"
They weren't alone as it turned out later, as some opted to not go to bed and went out for a walk like the one visible out the window here. As they waited there, boredom would also starts to kick in, and they needed something to entertain themselves.
"Hey Astrid"
"Hmm?"
"You're Gladahjulish right?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I just want to know how would you piss off a Tilenogtyvean, they seemed pretty chill even if I cursed them into oblivion"
"My friend Mladen... why cursing when you can just call them 'Southern Gladahjulish?'"
"I heard you over the fucking radio you Northern Tilenogtyvean!"
"Pffftt"
While they are both united as one, the rivalry between Tilenogtyvean and Gladahjulish remains undeniable. This stems from the fact that Tilenogtyve and Gladahjul has a tendency of breaking treaties with each other and even some military conflicts throughout history.
Even their Home Guards clashed with each other at some point before the bigger Land Army had to step in during the early days of the United Kingdoms.
"Hey, hey, hey, I see something" said one of the FIIA agents who is behind the steering wheels.
"What is it this time?"
"Just look" as he pointed to front left of the vehicle.
Out the window, a group of cloaked figures approached an average Flash civilian who is just on a stroll. They got closer and closer to the man, before something unexplainable happened. When they got really close, one of the figures reached out their right hand at the man and he almost instantly freezes up, literally.
"Whoa shit, that's magic?"
"How else they're doing it then?" as one un-holsters his pistol, pulling on the slide a bit, checking the chamber "But let's not hang around any further, we got them red-handed and right where we want them"
All four of the FIIA agents exited the black SUV they were on, and began to approach the cloaked figures who are in the process of grabbing the 'frozen' man. They walked for a bit before the leading agent spoke up at them at a distance.
"Oi! What do you think you're fucking doing eh?"
There was no vocal reply, but instead an action. One of them to the right quickly pulled out a flintlock and fired at him. It missed.
"SHOTS FIRED! SHOTS FIRED!"
BANG-BANG-BANG-BANG
With 4 consecutive shots, the shooter were brought down in an almost instantaneous moment. The loud shots could have woken up the entire town of Blokovič, but that also scared the living hell of the kidnappers that are still up.
The rest of the 3 agents pulled out their pistols, trained on the figures.
"GET DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW!"
All of them immediately complied, lying face down to the ground. The agents got to them, and zip-tied their hands behind their backs. Their job here is now done.
"We got 4 apprehended here, 7 Bay Street, 1 is also down so we need an EMS here ASAP"
"Copy that, we're moving into your position. Notifying dispatch for a request for EMS"
The rest of things would be taken care of by the other FIIA team who are also in this together, all they had to do, is to just wait.
"That was some scary shit man"
"Yeah... I got all that on body camera. Good shit though"
"Yeah, good job on our part"
...
Eastern Yelovsk, Varikan Empire In a mountainous area in a region that recently got attacked by the Reslanian rebels, stood contingents of troops stationed here. They're here to stop the advancing rebels from taking any more of the land, as a significant strip was taken away from there.
The only thing that challenges their occupation here is harassing attacks. Normally that would be extremely minor and trivial. But the war already broke the conventions at the start. For every attack, many would perish with no one that could realize where they were shot from before the rebels ran away.
It kept these troops up and awake as high alert was raised, but the morale is going like piss for them. A cowardly tactic they're facing, perhaps, but it somehow works wonder to devastate their will to fight.
"Hey, how are you doing?" a Varikan soldier checked up on his Gošbanian equivalent.
"I'm fine... just missing home"
"We all do, don't worry..." as the Varikan sat down next to his Gošbanian counterpart "Life is bad back home, but nothing compares to this..."
"Well those bastards just keep killing one of us every now and then so obviously it's worse here, I want to kill just one but I couldn't!"
Silence followed, uneasy feeling still remains constant. In the mountainous night of chirping, a sigh was exhaled, before another words were spitted out from the Varikan.
"You know, I have a feeling our monarchs might not care if we die here at all"
"What do you mean?"
"Think of it... if the Kingdoms Union Gestrae Northern Expedition was said to be withdrawn from the Flashian island, why did they do it out of nowhere, and why aren't they even seen anywhere?"
The Gošbanian looked up into the skies afterwards, with his thoughts being allowed to move around his head before opening his mouth once more.
"As much as I don't want to believe it, you... do have a point..."
The troops of the ill-fated KUGNE wasn't found anywhere in the words of their media in any way as they didn't march in a welcoming parade as standard nor was there any reason to 'withdraw' found to begin with. And believe it or not, there is an increasing number of people, especially within the military that noticed this.
"I wonder where they had gone..." pondered the Varikan trooper.
As they sat there together though, a strange air-chopping noise is increasingly overwhelming the natural chirping of the dark skies. Later on they heard the familiar reports of gunshots, what's unfamiliar is that this one is constant and in multiple.
"What is happening?"
"I don't know, but I feel danger is coming fast, and it's obscenely great..."
...
"If you ask me, I'm not quite sure about this decision..."
Einskirka, Esterria, an hour earlier Queen Marie III is in an impromptu meeting with her Prime Minister and her General of the Army, Belink
"I know Esterria is all for our Reslanian friends" she continued "However, in my honest opinion, this could be too much and is more trouble than it is worth"
"Your Majesty, I can understand what you think about this" the General replied "However, I do not think just simply send in the wyvern corps is enough, I-I mean our aids do help but I believe it's not sufficient, and the only option we could change that is taking the fight to them"
The young Queen looked to her minister, Gessel, who is standing right next to her as they exchanged glances at each other. She then look down to the ground, before letting out a sigh.
"It is true that our support in its current form might not be enough" she acknowledged "But... tell us more reasons why, and I might actually authorize it"
"The thing is as you might have already guessed, it's to ensure that Reslania achieves their desired success. The second is so that our solidarity will not go to waste. And thirdly, experience"
Upon hearing that, Gessel raised an eyebrow before then joining into the conversation:
"Elaborate on the last part please?"
"Well, outside of trainings and exercises with Flashia, most of our troops that weren't sent to Havenklein don't have much experience. If we were to send in our soldiers to Varika, we could gain valuable experiences and lessons for the Royal Army. Oh and I forgot to mention... this would also drastically improve relations with Reslania, or at least I hope so, as well as serving as our little bit of revenge for their meddling in our war"
The Prime turns his eyes to the queen, and seemingly noticing some uncertainty in her, probably from her eyes.
"I will leave it to you, Your Majesty, the choice is yours"
The Queen returned her glance before then thinking through the whole thing. Then before anyone knew it, an answer.
"Fine, I will allow such movement of Royal Army troops"
Something is worth mentioning is that despite the generals being the one doing the hard work, the Queen of Esterria still holds the position of Commander-in-Chief along with the Minister. With the approval of the Queen secured, the general nodded in acknowledgement.
"Thank you, Your Majesty"
...
Eastern Yelovsk Mountains, Varikan Empire A mix of equipment of the Royal Army is seen hanging around on the rotating winfs of Flashia. As they listen to an unfamiliar but still a great tune of a classic rock, they await their eventual landing as their Flash counterparts let loose the mounted machine guns, their sound intimidating yet so familiar.
Donning both old and new equipment, the Esterrian soldiers had nothing to do but just sit around and listen to the things happening around them... including the music of course.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4irXQhgMqg
After a bit, the soldiers feel they're slowing down, which should be telling them that they're nearing their destination. And indeed, as the door gunners gradually stops firing, the helicopter starts descending to the ground.
"Alright boys" the pilot of the green helicopter spoke through the intercom "We'll going to get you off this chopper in 10 seconds and DON'T FUCKING MAKE IT 10 MINUTES!"
The sudden yelling of the pilot definitely awaken all of the occupants. Normally this would have been considered extremely rude to the Esterrians, and they still do find it as such, but at this point they might as well get used to Flash informality that is characteristic of them, regardless if they're Kiralsian or Svarheran.
About 10 seconds later, the helicopter would touch down on the ground like what the pilot had said, and soldiers poured out of both sides of the helicopter. Soldiers brought out their weapons, either their standard Geweer 2, the older Geweer 1 and the usual MG team.
Soldiers of both sides near simultaneously got to a prone position as the helicopter began to lift off again, its rotor still blowing gushes of wind onto the dark green uniform of the Royal Army troops who are shielding their eyes from the resulting dusts, whether it be with their hands or goggles they were given with.
The air still chops, but the sound would fade away in time, as the chopper would get further and further away from the soldiers on foot. While everyone knows what they were in for, but many still couldn't help but at awe about the aircraft's apparently ability of not needing an entire runway to land. In fact, the place they were dropped off had little space as the surrounding area was covered in trees.
"Quite an amazing contraption..." mumbled a soldier who looked upon the helicopter one last time before then getting orders off his mind "Soldiers, onward!"
His squad proceeded to stand up on his feet then start moving with the leader in between the spread out formation carrying a carbine version of the Geweer 2. The other one would do the same, going to an opposite direction
The weapon was once designated the KM86, and it still referred as such, with the weapon still not having an official designation in the hands of the Esterrians, unofficially though it has been called Geweer 2 Type 2. It doesn't have as much range, but it is still viable for hitting someone quite far away and is generally easier to handle in smaller spaces.
The squad moved into the trees, where it became harder for them to see much of the things in this time around. And so they stood close to each other, keeping track of who is who using any means, including the usage of their issued radio.
"Alpine-1 here, just letting you know we will head North, anyone other than your men that you find on your path likely aren't friendly"
"Alpine-2, acknowledged"
The Esterrian soldiers moved forward with the attack on the Eastern Yelovsk, passing trees after trees until...
"Halt-Halt-Halt!" shouted the squad leader as his eyes pick up something in the tree lines, prompting everyone to stop, crouching or standing, behind something or out in the open. The lead puts away his gun, slinging it to his chest and pulled out the new binocular given to him.
According to the logistical corps, this one is an oldie. How old one might ask? Well, just for reference, this one dates back to 1942, while Flashia is at 2017 according to their calendar. But thing is, old Flash equipment have proved themselves to be overqualified for their job despite their age, at least on Gestrae, so this one might as well do more good than bad.
He looks through the lens of the Global War-era binocular, and there they were. Despite being dark here, he can still make out the uniforms and the weapons of the unknowns. They're definitely not Reslanians nor their own.
"Varikans direct front" the leader called out as he puts away the binocular, storing it in one of the pouches to the side before bringing up his carbine once again. With a flick of a thumb, the fire selector went from safe to semi then shouldering the stock, aiming at the Varikan troops who were looking around.
"OPEN FIRE!" he fired the first shots, followed by an entire messy orchestra of gunshots. 5.56s and 7.62 alike flew towards the still-in-the-1700s troops, and they in return were not able to get their guns up at them.
Many Varikans were shot down in a moment's notice, and the rest surviving decided to take cover from the sudden flow of bullets.
"One, do whatever you can to keep their heads down! Two, flank around on my lead!"
As a fireteam would flank right while the other team keeps on firing at the Varikan troops, still unable to fire any shots from cover. The SL would be leading the fireteam as he ran across trees and trees, tracers going parallel to his team's direction of movement.
He ran and ran, gradually slowing down due to his stamina running out and the equipment weighing him down. After awhile running to the other side with his fireteam, he would be facing the Varikan troops directly as they're still having their attention directed at Team One.
The leader raised his carbine up, flashlight on the right side turned on, flicking his fire selector to full-auto in a short succession. The directed light would clearly illuminate the Varikan troops out in the open for him, and it was too late for them.
A burst of full auto fire reverberated the forest of the partially hilly Eastern Yelovsk, with the Esterrian riflemen also opening up at them. The confused, poor Varikan troops were gunned down in a second. This time they managed to fire a shot, but that bullet went nowhere as it hit a tree-branch to the left.
"Fireteam One cease fire!"
After all that, Fireteam Two decided to stay around a bit to scan the area. They would be there for a minute before confirming there's no additional forces in the area.
"One regroup on Two, we'll continue moving"
The Esterrian troops are in small numbers so the main effort is still on the RPF. However despite this, they'd still be a great help for the Reslanians. You know why? Because these guys are more experienced and more well-trained, as well as being well-equipped.
Gunshots would continue to ring out in the Eastern Yelovsk as a company-sized Esterrian formations spread out to their respective objectives in the beginning of the Esterrian Intervention in Reslania/Yelovsk.
...
Western Jonnik, Esterria While all of the firefights directly involving Esterrian troops at the Eastern border, a special kind of La Ferdinan troops slowly approaches their target here in Western Jonnik. Known as the Assassin Troops, they do Jefermais' dirty jobs that even the bravest regular wouldn't partake in, often fed with high quality intel and weaponry, mostly from Verdecana.
As their name suggests, they're mainly used for killing off anyone of high value, such as military generals and even head of states should opportunity arises and the situation calls for it with the weapons they use backing them up. But that's not their sole purpose.
In Western Jonnik where they were sent, a platoon-sized element of assassins are here for one job, sabotage the Esterrian support to the RPF. For this task, they're armed with lever-action rifles and they come with 3 carriages, each with a machine gun on top of them.
The assassins stealthily moves further into the region of Jonnik, slowly and carefully just to minimize noise and in turn, keep their profile as low as possible in the night. And it has worked so far apparently, as they did not encounter any resistance here in the region.
They may have gone unnoticed by the Esterrians, but that did little to help with the fact some Assassins were feeling uneasy about the whole thing.
"I don't know why but I feel like we're being watched" whispered one of them to the other one.
"Oh come on, it's just the feeling, nothing is truly out there!"
The two assassins, along with the other 28 and 3 self-propelled carriages would continue to their objectives slowly but surely. Five minutes have passed but nothing bad has happened to them, with the only noise being the chirping of crickets.
"See? I told you it's just the-"
And suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, a crack puts the guy into a permanent sleep as something went through his head. The feeling, turns out not just a feeling. Fight or flight response was activated among all the other assassins, as the air let out more loud cracks.
"LEFT SIDE! GUNFIRE!" yelled one of the Assassins as tracers flew through their heads "SINCE WHEN DID THEY GET REPEATERS?!"
The 3 carriages began to maneuver in such a way that would allow the machine gun on top of them to fire, as they're only mounted at the front. Soon enough they would open up at the unseen enemy, giving their foot counterpart the much needed support.
But then, something happened...
...
"Coming fire!"
"And away!"
BANG
A recoilless rifle sends out a really big bullet at the front carriage along with a backblast that would turn anyone within 60x82 meters area behind the gun into toast. The round in bright yellow would find its mark, sending the carriage into a big explosion.
This is happening as the entire squad of the Flash Army is in prone position, in defilade, firing at the contacts that came to Jonnik. Rifles in semi-auto and machine guns in controlled burst sent round after rounds at them as the skirmish is now ongoing.
"That's an entire platoon out there!" shouted one soldier tapping a fresh mag to ensure proper seating.
"We're only a squad here damn it!"
As they took shots at the La Ferdinan assassins, bullets also cracked over the heads of a few men in green as they engage hostiles with a longer effective range to work with.
"Fuck, man, that almost got me"
"And I really though we would be only dealing with smoothbore muskets"
"This world is truly weird isn't it?"
While they have the optics on their weapons, and the fact they do have the upper hand in terms of firepower, we have to remind ourselves is that this is in the night and it would be really hard to see anything in the first place, even with NODs.
Because of that, locating the enemies had been reliant on finding the muzzle flash, and there were less of them as time goes on, even the opposing machine guns had to quiet down, making spotting targets even harder as time goes on.
"2-1, you're shooting at the trees, you idiot! The Ferds are more to the right!"
But that won't stop them from continuing to engage the Assassins with their rifles, and a recoiless rifle
"Ready!" yelled the Christian Faltskög gunner
"Shot's coming!"
"SHOT'S COMING!"
BANG went the recoilless rifle again, this time, the explosive projectile had hot the carriage at the back of the assassin's line as it too went up in an impressive display of explosion. Oh any by the way, they made sure there was no one behind the rifle.
"Ervin, Bajnok, Laszlo, forward!"
Half of the squad would then stand up and start flanking them. Three of them, including the leader, have the rifles while one got his support automatic weapon on him, would split from the formation and flank the enemies.
"Support! Support!"
The half that remained would provide supporting fire while they did this, with rifles and the machine gun continuing to go off at the La Ferdinan assassins, now holed up in their positions, having most of their capabilities stripped off by this point.
...
A La Ferdinan assassin is panting heavily, as he holds his rifle tightly to his body. Surrounding him is the 2 burning carriages and bodies around him. While some are still in the fight, many were either dead, or wounded.
He wants to get the injured ones into safety, but couldn't, for he and his group of Assassins are pinned down by quite a lot of fire from their mysterious foes. He had no choice but to watch them bleeding and dying, and there wasn't he could do about it.
Those who were not hurt in anyway kept shooting at the opposing forces in vain. They brought a lot of bullets for this one, but not enough to last long in this grueling firefight. Each of them has a reserve count reduced to a single digit and none of them could hit the forces that rained more bullets upon them.
The sounds seemingly have been muffled to the assassin, as he could not hear his comrades' shouting as clearly as before. This firefight has taken a toll on this one as the chaos continue to unfold right in front of his eyes.
He then hears sets of footsteps, that doesn't sound like one of them, and others would later notice this anomaly. All the ones that were still fighting took cover and looked to the left where it came from.
What happens next is beyond their imagination.
A figure turns to a corner, already had his weapon out trained at them, and then the trigger was pulled. The rapid semi-auto fire of the figure lit them up, and even if they had their weapons up again, the assassins didn't stand much chance.
Most of them would be dead, while the rest swiftly dropped their weapons and raised their hands immediately after, shouting some form of "I SURRENDER!" in ICL, hoping that their foes they're giving in to understands them.
The fight was now over, the elite troops had lost to a smaller-sized regular army soldiers of the red bend flag who too ceased fire, processing their new prisoners.

The coastal town in the Far Northern Naeslagtland is sleeping at this moment, as it is 2 in the morning at this time around. The town often known for its fresh salmons had put its nets away, as the men on boats went home to get their well-deserved break.
Its residents may have gone to sleep, but in the midst of shadows, lurks unfamiliar attires of grey and tans with the short guns, all with a tubular device that conceals their audio profile combined with subsonic bullets.
The men in grey and tan helmet and armor walked in a small formation, moving slowly and carefully as to not arouse any attention to them in this town. They would find their way to a 2-storey house. It's seemingly innocent, appearing to be just another house in Hvadaal, but these men might know something that others don't.
"This the place?" enquired one of the operative.
"Looks like it" as the other one puts away the tablet that led them to here.
The case of disappearing people all traced back to here, way outside their lands. And so, the FIIA sent out their top special forces unit, the Special Group Zeta or SGZ to do their work.
Born as a result of the merger between the Investigation Agency and the Intelligence Service in 1996, until 2014, they operated from abroad while nobody even knows their name. Possibly responsible for the Hatemean coup that led to the end of the Reunification War, they also partakes in VIP protection and in this case, hostage rescue.
The squad of geared operatives would position themselves in various entry points, preparing themselves for the uninvited door-knocking.
"Would we get in so much trouble with this?"
"What do you mean? Command sent us here, we're not rogue agents or something"
"I mean we're on Naeslagtlandic soil and all..."
"Ah, gotcha. But no, I've heard they notified Naeslagtland about this in advance already"
"Okay, good"
They made sure no one is out and nearby, before moving onto the plan. They made sure their weapons are loaded and ready to rock for the last time, while some did an additional prayers for this one to go well.
"...Hope this Blackout is quiet enough..."

Aveland, Naeslagtland, 4 hours earlier Madsen IV had quite a long day as the King of Naeslagtland. With the whole crisis surrounding the whole region of Yelovsk and Eastern La Ferdina, it's no doubt that the events had been circulating within the country ever since the first one hit the capital, Aveland.
The news spread like wildfires. In every corners of Naeslagtland, they will be at least one person that will bring it up to discussion. Speaking of discussion, this one had been quite a controversial ones, especially up in the Royal Government.
This, along with the other political shenanigans happening, has been wearing the Madsen IV out as his days were made longer with him having to make a lot more statements regarding Reslania. The King had his tiring days, but this is downright the worst for him as he walked along the hallway of his palace to get some good night sleep for the day.
When he got near to his room, someone was outside the door, clearly waiting for him.
"Ah, Your Majesty" said the one who waited "I'm here to give you a message"
Madsen recognized this guy as one of his servants, and although he didn't do as much as others, he's still worth of trust to the King. But as mentioned before, he's quite tired himself, and the monarch has no interest in the message at all.
"Save it for tomorrow, I need a good rest for the night" as his hand reaches for the doorknob.
"But Your Majesty, this is urgent! It's from Flashia!"
Madsen paused for a second before he turns to the man.
"Excuse me?"
The King was surprised to say the least, an urgent message from Flashia at this time around? Something must have gone bad from his perspective.
"...You need to read this" as he handed out the paper, to which the King puts his fingers on it and start reading, skimming and scanning the content.
'Disappearances of 20 Flash citizens... leads to the town of Hvadaal... requesting permission to conduct an operation there' as he moved his eyes quickly on the paper 'So they do care about their citizens, just like Geschnokea'
Madsen nodded and gave the paper back.
"Tell them that they are granted to do whatever they please there"
"Yes Your Majesty" as he would turn back and walked away from the vicinity, as the Naeslagt monarch did a little sigh before proceedings to his room. The rest is then history.
