Somewhere off the coast of Naeslagtland A ship without any insignia whatsoever is seen chasing a ship with a Naeslagtlandic one.
"They can run, but they will die trying!" shouted the captain of the ensign-less ship "Come on lads! Get them!"
It should be noted that this particular ship is sailing faster than the Naeslagtlandic ship, meaning that they will reach their target in no time. As they closed distance, the pirates had some "nice" words to say about the other ship while at the same time, getting themselves ready for the boarding.
And that is when a chopping sound appeared, slowly but surely pushing the sound of the waves crashing to the side much to pretty much everyone's confusion. The pirates on the deck turned towards the source of such sound, and it turns out there is something in shades of grey and green with something spinning over its head.
The object was clearly heading towards them, being nearer and nearer before it began to slow down upon getting close enough.
"This is the Esterrrian Royal Army!" a voice echoes out from the bird, louder and clearer than the chopping itself "You are to stop and surrender immediately or face consequences!"
The captain of the ship scoffed at the now known ERA bird.
"What toy they got there..." mumbled the captain "Just fire a shot at them"
A pirate sailor then brought out his trusty musket, shoving a bullet into the bore with a rod before putting said rod back to its position under the barrel. The hammer is cocked and he took aim at the thing while trying to fight back the blowing wind caused by the spinning blades.
BANG
A pull of a trigger propelled a ball at the object, only for it to bounce off the body that would make a rather metallic sound upon impact. The flying object would stay there, not saying anything, giving some pirates some chill as they pick up some omminous feelings...
KABOOM
The ship was suddenly hit on its starboard side, source of the shot unknown to all of them, sowing even further confusion and fear amongst them.
"What in the gods' names was that?!"
"I don't know, it came out of nowhere!"
"Where was it?!?"
While the crews panicked, the bird spoke again.
"I warned you"
The shot didn't do much damage against any vital parts of the pirate ship, but it was enough to send everyone into a frenzy. The captain tried everything he could to rally up his men, but the morale is just too low for anything to work. He then turned to the spinning wing object, in horrors and in realization what he found himself into.
"I SURRENDER!" shouted the captain "PLEASE I SURRENDER! I BEG YOU NOT TO SINK MY DEAR SHIP!"
A pirate attack has ended prematurely without much resistance and without anything lost to Naeslagtland and Esterria. After a while, a grey ship then appears in his eyes, approaching them while having its front gun facing the starboard of the ship, that must be the source of shot, he thought.
It was apparently lightly armed, but the pirate captain simply chose not to challenge it. He figured if it made such a hit from that far away and without being seen, then his fate would have been sealed before a meaningful resistance was ever formed.

"The Naeslagtlandic Government has officially announced they will be conducting a joint military operation with the Esterrian Royal Armed Forces and the Flash Defense Forces over its coastal area. This announcement comes as pirate attacks against merchant ships have been increasing in recent times.
For this operation, Esterria has sent over a fleet of helicopters and its flotilla of ship including its flagship, Marie van den Ulsens operating in conjuction with the Flash Navy's Amphibious Assault Fleet along with another flotilla consisting of frigates and destroyers while Naeslagtland mobilized its Naval Forces to patrol the coastline.
According to the Naeslagtlandic Government, the operation is intended to protect commercial shipping between them, Esterria and Flashia and deter future wrongdoers from doing so. In addition to this, while not officially part of the operation, the Reslanian Confederation has offered its support to the three countries' effort, saying that pirates have been the bane of the newly-established Northern Pact, and it has now come the time that they put an end to it." - Esterrian Voice of News.
Gevaka, Flashia The RIDET trio came out adorning the green uniforms of the Flash Home Guard. Aside from being disgusting in terms of looks for the leader, it is rather quite comfortable compared to their own military uniforms.
"So what do you think?" said the soldier who's been waiting for them this whole time.
"I think it's great!" replied one of the members "It's just easy to move around with, although I believe it doesn't look that great"
"...That's because it wasn't designed to look good in the first place..."
"Oh..."
"Let's just set that aside and just go to the range shall we?"
"Mmhmm"
The soldier would then lead the three back down to the hallway, now destined for the range where they will get to try Flashia's weapon for the first time.
"So what kind of weapons do you all use?" questioned the junior member of the RIDET.
"Well, you know, we have guns, grenades, shovels..."
"What about swords or dagger?"
"We don't use them anymore"
"Why is that such a case?"
"Because for a century now, we have been fighting like 100 to 300 meters out, way beyond the range of those..."
He does not understand what meter is, but he just assume that's really far if he's going by the context.
"...And also because of recent body armor development that made giving out concussion with a shovel more desirable than having your blade not going through and get yourself shit on moments later"
"How advanced is your body armor I may ask?"
"Well, if I remember correctly, enough to stop a repeater round"
A little bit of shock befell on his face from that alone.
"Y-Your armor is that strong?
"Well, by your standard, yeah, one of ours took like 32 musket shots to the chest and yet he's still going, I should probably note that it's quite light too"
"I see... so you do not use even a knife anymore?"
"Oh, no, we still use bayonets"
"Why?"
"Just want someone to think twice before charging at us"
Research has found out that opposing combatants is less likely to lunge themselves at someone with a literal knife sticking out in front the barrel in fear of 'fucking around and finding out'. That's why despite apparent obselescence from many roles, bayonets can still be found on the rifles of Home Guards, Mariner and Land Army alike.
"I see then..."
All 4 of them continued down the hallway after the small talk, now looking forward to send some rounds downrange.
...
Greater Jefermai, La Ferdina The Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Army stood at the window of his office in the capital city. While he looks out on the city scenery, he can't help letting out a long breath.
Knock-Knock
A knock to the door would then grab his attention as he turned around.
"Come in" which prompt the one who knocked to open the door.
"Sir, we just now have received a report from the pirates we paid them" said the staff coming into his office as he then close the door with a document on his hand "It's all in this document"
"Very well then" said the Commander-in-Chief "Just put it on the table, I'll read through it later"
The man nodded walking over to his table, and gently put the document on the side of the table.
"I may come out as rude but..." spoke the man again "I must ask, are you fine? You seemed a bit tired"
That question caught the man in charge of the whole military off-guard at first. Nevertheless, he then provided an answer.
"I'm fine just like every other day"
"Are you really sure about that?"
"As much as I appreciate your concern, yes I am, I just some nightmare, that's all..."
"Oh, then in that case, I might have to warn you, it does not look good at all"
The commander then nodded in acknowledgment.
"Very well then, you may leave the office"
"...Oh, umm, right..."
The staff then turned around to the door behind him, reaching for the doorknob, swinging it open to get to the other side before then shutting it close. Now alone again, the Commander-in-Chief turned his face back to the window, first having his eyes on the city's ground then to the skies.
Looking upon the cloudy skies, thoughts raced through his head, most of them about the aforementioned nightmare he had. He does not remember the exact details, but the one he can distinctly recall is 11 wolves tearing up his beloved country.
"...Who are those wolves...?" he mumbled to himself "...And why us...?"
...
An Esterrian helicopter is now in the process of landing on an 'Amphibious Assault' ship of the Flash Navy, the pilot making as much micro-management as possible to counteract the ship's exhaust, carefully guiding the bird to right above the deck.
On said deck, a sailor in bright colors would give out a hand signals that would tell him where to go to get it in line with where they're supposed to land.
"A little bit more to the left..."
They're also using their radio set on the same frequency as their Flash counterpart, and with ton of adjustment later, the helicopter hovered above the LZ for a little bit before lowering itself down to the deck.
"Touch down! Good work!"
The pilot breathed a sigh of relief, as he then turned off the engine among other things of the chopper. He then waits for it to stop the rotor in its entirety, as it visibly slows down.
The pilot and his co-pilot then gets off their aircraft, then as they head towards the superstructure a Flash personnel approached him while others rushed over to the heli.
"For an Esterrian noble you did good" commented the personnel "Honestly, I didn't think someone from the 18th century would be able to pull it off"
"Well I did learn from the best didn't I?" replied the Esterrian pilot.
"You sure did. Anyways, is there something we should know of?"
"The helicopter?" he looked over to his aircraft "Yes, it probably needs some repainting considering that those pirates already shot at it 6 times already"
"Of course... We'll take it from here, just get some rest alright, Hark?"
The pilot nodded before receiving a pat to the shoulder by the sailor as he walked past and they continuing their way.
"Well that's a bit rude isn't it?" said Hark's co-pilot, referring to the pat to the shoulder as normally, as one should not touch a noble like that.
"Be fair to them, my boy" spoke the noble "That's just what they do all the time, even to their superior. Besides, Flashia is a republic after all"
"Ah" as the co-pilot then nodded as both of them continued walking back to the superstructure where they would stay inside while the Flash crews got to work.
...
All of the post-Reslania War resistance have all been squashed to its last, but that doesn't mean Reslania can rest easy just yet.
Eastern Reslania, near the border with Varika CRACK-CRACK CRACK
"CONTACT!"
A joint patrol of Esterrian and Reslanian troops had just received some bullets flying over their heads. Judging by the sound of the air cracks, it must've been the Repeater Units that they've been hearing about.
Those to the right would take cover behind a defilade which is a ditch while left caught outside hit the ground before trying to crawl back to the ditch.
"COME ON, GET IN HERE!"
"Fennec to HQ, we are under fire by Varikan forces on the other side of the border!"
"Give me your hand here!"
The ones on defilade began pulling in their comrades upon them being close enough. One by one, all would be inside, and it would not take long for a burst of full-auto from the Confederation Army side to be fired at the incoming fire.
"Copy that Fennec, what's the size of the hostile forces?"
"Standby... Hey, how many they got there?"
"Eh... give me a fuckin' minute here..."
The Esterrian troops would also open fire in semi-auto at the general direction of where the Varikan shots are coming from while a soldier scans the other side with a binocular. While now at a noticeably lesser extent, the bullets of the Varikan Repeaters still cracks around them, often causing some to flinch by instinct.
"We got a squad at least!" as the aforementioned infantryman then puts away his binocular.
"Fennec, we're dealing with at least a squad of repeaters!"
"Copy that Fennec, hold on in there, we're sending reinforcements"
With the firefight ongoing for some time, machine guns would eventually get involved. And get involved they did, this time it's the Esterrian that's sending those rounds of the MG at them, followed by the CA.
"Hé, kijk uit! Je regent hete hulzen op ons!" (Hey, watch it! You're raining hot casings on us!)
"Waarom ben je hier dan?!?" (Why are you here then?!?)
"I have no idea what they just said"
"Doesn't matter just shoot at those Variks!"
The ERA-CA patrol at the ditch continued firing shots after shots with their firepower intensifying, aiming at silencing the opposing forces and prevent them from moving anywhere else.
"Give me some cover here, I'm reloading!"
"Right after you bud!"
BANG BANG BANG BANG CLICK
"Huh- Oh shit, it's jammed!"
Some mags were changed out, and a few jammings had to be cleared off. For the latter, the Esterrian rifles are rather more bothersome than their Reslanian counterparts. The former basically have a more tedious time clearing them, while the latter only has to literally slam their rifle on the ground while pulling on the charging handle at the same time.
"What a shame to be you man"
"Hey, at least ours are lighter and easier to use!"
Minutes had already went past, and yet somehow, it felt like hours for the combatants with them increasingly becoming more worried. And then, a familiar rumble reached their ears in the midst of the firefight.
"The hell is that?"
"It's the Kanonnenolifant!"
Kannonenolifant refers to a particular tank model that was known as Pansar 55. They received the designation mainly because it looked like an elephant with its cannon as its main armament.
"Kept you waiting for long now"
"Aye"
The tank would position itself to the left of the troops formation in the ditch, the turret turning left to face the enemy forces.
"We're going to send it, stand clear!"
"STAND CLEAR!"
Everyone at the ditch got as low as they can, and after awhile, the elephant fired a shot from its cannon. In a short while, that shot slammed itself onto one of the Varikan position, ending in a big explosion with some cheers being heard from the foot soldiers.
"We'll take it from here. Fennec, move to the Ijzerwagen behind us"
"Copy that. Oi, lads let's move!"
The troops moved to the left with the others being covered by the tank climbing out the ditch. Actually all of them would climb out upon getting behind the 'Cannon Elephant' that is firing off bursts from its coaxial machine guns. The patrol then ran back from behind where an Esterrian APC would pull up and open its rear hatch for them.
Saracens of the Confederation Army would also appear as these soldiers mounted up on the Ijzerwagen. With the last man in, the hatch gradually closed up while the 2 Saracens overtakes the APC with additional Reslanian troops following behind.
"Fuck me, that was scary"
...
The trio from the Naeslagtlandic RIDET would step outside the building and to a rather vast firing range.
"This is... a lot bigger than I expected..." one of them mumbled to himself.
At the range, a group of soldiers also of the Flash Home Guard had been waiting for them with the equipment already being set up, including black guns set on the ground with their handguard supported by sandbags.
[I really can't get a good picture without the danske soldater]
"So this is it here" said the soldier who has been guiding them around "This is the range where we'll shoot some rounds here"
"Finally"
All four of them walked over to the guns, to the Home Guard group of which one would approached their guide with open arms
"Hey Toft, how's it going man?" said the soldier as both grabbed their respective right hand.
"Good so far" with both then letting go.
"Same here man"
The soldier then looked over to the RIDET trio while one of them would do a small wave.
"These are from the RIDET" said Toft again "I think you know the drill at this point"
"Yep"
Toft then turns around to leave, but not before giving a quick pat to the soldier's arms. Now being left with the trio, he would get to work, grabbing one of the guns on the ground then presenting it to the Naeslagts.
"Let me give you a rundown. This is our service rifle, or at least what us Home Guard use as standard, the Army uses a different one. Named the RM86A3, it's a select-fire gas blowback semi-automatic rifle capable of firing full auto..."
While the two tries to take in the info into their heads, one would furiously write down some notes.
"The fire selector as you can see here is set to safe" as the soldier then points out a particular switch seen on the right "Push it with your thumb so that it points here..." his finger points at the inscription 'SEMI' "...Makes it single-fire, push it all the way here..." then pointing at the obscured letters, presumably being the full-auto position "...Makes it full auto" proving their presumption correct.
"I see, but what is the process of reloading this weapon?"
"It's pretty simple actually, give me a sec..." the Home Guard then reached for something else, which is a metal box of some sort "This is a box magazine, and by the name, I'm sure you know what it does considering... well you do have those rifles"
The younger RIDET member nodded in agreement.
"So basically you put it up here" the soldier then inserts the box into the magwell "And what you have to do if there's no cartridge in it is just pull the charging rod here" tapping on the handle "All the way back"
With the trio getting the whole idea, the soldier then takes out the magazine by pressing a button also on the right just with his trigger finger.
"You release the mag with this button so don't forget that"
The trio nods again, this time with a subtle "Ah" heard in the process.
"Okay, with that all set..." the soldier then puts down the rifle back to where it was "Let's get to work shall we?"
After a little bit of a discussion, the three went to their respective positions (as agreed upon). Each of them put their bodies on the ground, then grasping their rifles and magazines in their hand. From there they... fumbled with the magazine for a bit.
"No, no, you're loading it the wrong way... there we go"
"So now the charging rod?"
"Yep"
Pulling the charging handle back as far as they again before letting go, the bolt and the handle send themselves back home with a cartridge taken into the chamber from their current magazines.
"Try to hit the target over there alright?"
"Got it"
It would not take long for the Naeslagts to pull the trigger...
"You forgot the safety"
...For the guns to not fire at all.
BANG
Except for that other one.
"Aw, damn me!"
BANG
And also that one.
Click
"...Why did I even forget such a simple thing?"
BANG
And now, finally the entire RIDET trio was sending some 5.56 down the range. To them, for a firearm, the recoil is surprisingly isn't that present. Furthermore, while the scope is something to get used to, they found themselves being able to follow up their shots at their target.
They're not too sure about accuracy at this range which according to the sign right next to the target is 150 meters though, but they might as well send them downrange first.
BANG BANG-BANG
They'll check how they did in this session later.
...
In the meantime, shots are fired somewhere else, further away from Gevaka, from one hill to another and vice versa.
Western Reslania "Hold your positions soldiers!" shouted the commander of this particular squad from the Naeslagtlandic Royal Army "Keep firing at those Ferdies!"
It's the La Ferdinan Repeaters that would be fighting the bolt-action rifle of the Naeslagts. These guys were not only sent in as part of the obligation the Kingdom has to fill as a Northern Pact member, but also to garner up some experience they desperately needed with their new equipment.
CRACK
"By the gods! That was close!"
BANG
The infantrymen took their turn firing their rifle at the general direction of where those shots been coming from. They're well aware that they're not going to hit much, but that's the least of their worries now.
"Just keep them down there enough so the Flash could arrive!" yelled the commander amidst the firefight.
Yes, they really did just call in for support from Flashia, and that's why their main objective is to force those La Ferdinans to stay there as long as possible. In the middle of the bolts cycling, gun reloading and shooting, there comes a faint chopping sound.
Much of the Naeslagt troops are confused as to what it could be while that sound gradually gets louder and louder as time goes on. Suddenly, their radio comes to life:
"Hang in there lads, Tišina coming in hot"
And then after a short while, the one that makes the chopping reveals itself in all its glory.
"Tišina got visual, firing!"
The white spinning wings of the Flash Land Army then shot off bursts of its autocannon mounted right underneath the nose, the effect on the La Ferdina as clear as day. The ground where they are exploded and cheering of relief erupted.
"That's what you get for trying to kill the King!"
...
BANG-CHAK
"Eh?"
One of the rifles that the RIDET had been firing had suddenly made a strange sound. When that member pulled the trigger again, it was mush and it refused to let off a round. He then checks the bolt, only to find it all the way back and staying at such a state.
"...D-Did I broke it?"
The Home Guard who was observing this whole time turned away, his expression seems to indicate that he's trying to hold his laughter.
"No no" the same guy quickly turned back "That's just basically the gun telling you that there's no more bullets in the magazine, it's normal"
"Ah..."
With that words of confirmation given out, the RIDET then breathed a sigh of relief, as then 2 other rifles also began to lock their bolts back with another of their Flash Home Guard counterparts providing a few further instruction.
All three of them stood up, the rifles staying there, lying on the ground as they were before.
"We'll handle the guns from here" said one Home Guard member "Feel free to check the results if you want to"
With that said, the trio then walked up on the field to their targets to check how they did after a mag each. After they got to their respective targets, they then lifted the cardboard cutout filled with holes off the stand before then gathering around.
"You see this?"
"I see it..."
"The groupings are very close"
"Indeed, I thought it was impossible at that range but alas, Flashia had some surprise waiting for us..."
The RIDET group would continue on discussing the bullet holes they made, how close every single one of them was and how accurate even a standard issue rifle for the reserves is.
[Every Home Guard member counts as a reserve personnel]
With that said, this military is more than just what most soldier uses on a regular basis, and the rest has yet to come.
...
27/9/1702 It's another day in the coast of Naeslagtland that the pirates would go out there to sail and raid some merchant ships. Yesterday was a rough one for them as 3 military started to get directly involved in this sea, but little did they know, it was only the beginning.
CRACK-CRACK-CRACK CRACK
"WHAT IN THE GODS' NAMES IS THAT FIREPOWER?!?"
The pirates on this ship like many others expected a difficult time with recent knowledge of how things have been. Commercial vessels arming themselves to the teeth was not one of them.
"HEY HELP ME HERE-"
While many bullets flew by, one would eventually hit its mark at someone's head.
"FUCK! WE LOST THE CAPTAIN!"
With their captain lying down on the ground lifeless, they basically broke apart as panic reach an all-time high among them and the bullets keep chipping off woods after woods.
...
"Keep going lads!" shouted the leader of the security forces from Flashia "Keep them away until the Marine or the ERN or the Naeslagtlandic Naval Forces arrives!"
The Naeslagts on the ship do not appreciate the very loud sound of their guns firing, what they do appreciate though, is their protection. Hired in response to the increasing attacks, Flash security firms like the one the guys with guns are from have shown themselves to be very effective in keeping those pirates at bay.
They were able to do this thanks to an arsenal of guns that are just out of this world for them. In their case, they're being defended by a black gun with a stock with open design and a distinctively curved box.
[little fun fact: Did you know the Finnish Rk 62 (not shown above, this the Rk 95) served as a basis for the Galil?]
The sailors onboard would watch the whole thing happening before them, how the Flash reloads their weapon as quickly as possible, and how they been sending projectiles with every 5 shots being tracers, allowing them to see the trajectory of such bullets.
While they can't see it clearly, as the opposing ship is far off, it's very much clear that the pirates are not having a good time, and that's why they have such delight on their faces from every aspects except for the shooting.
"FUCK OFF TO THE SHITHOLE YOU COME FROM!"
Well, maybe not ALL aspects except for the shooting.
...
The border between the Commonwealth and the Empire (La Ferdina) has been a hotspot for many, and it has been for about 2 years by now. This time, it's just got a lot hotter with the conclusion of the Reslania War and the formation of the Northern Pact.
Fighter planes and fighter jets took to the skies to patrol the airspace, tanks and other armored vehicles stayed on standby, and the soldiers of Esterria stood guard at the barriers erected as a response from recent La Ferdinan actions.
Several units of the ERA and the FLA (Flash Land Army) are stationed here, and one of them is the 217th Pansarjæger, or rather, the 217th Panserjeger Brigade as they were called back home at Agevær. 2 of them would be seen in their combat gear, walking along the border as a patrol element
"Yo Aimo, what do you think about hybrids coming into the Brigade in the coming months?" said a soldier to the other one. Aimo turned his eyes towards the guy that said it, then thinking of words to say... for quite a long while.
"...Aimo?"
The soldier would still struggle in trying to find his words to say.
"Uh..."
"What's wrong with you man?"
"Mate" said another soldier who caught up on them and happened to stumble upon this 'conversation' "There's a reason why Animaatland is called the land of the introverts"
"Oh shit, I completely forgot about that"
And yes, Aimo Saari is an Annish, the one whose ancestors moved from Animaatland to Agevær, which is how he got into this unit.
"It's funny 'cause you seem to talk a lot back in Gevaka... It's alright though, just take your time..."
"...W-What hybrids?" Aimo finally speak up.
"Ah you know, people with animal features... I've heard that one of them is a literal catgirl!"
Aimo... doesn't seem to be excited at all.
"Hmm... interesting..."
"Aw come on man, don't you want to see some fiction elements become real?
The Annish would only shrug, with the other one shaking his head in a bit of disappointment.
"...Why are Annish people so awkward?"
"I'm excited to see them in person though"
"Yeah, yeah, I know, just shut up Ronald"
"Why?"
"I know you're a fuckin' weeb and I don't want to hear more of your bull-"
"Hey what's wrong with being a weeb?!"
"Here we go again..."
'Aren't you a weeb as well...?' Aimo thought to himself.
...
"Digger, request bogey dope"
"2 Lizards, BRAA, 160 for twenty at angels 7, cold"
"Roger"
While a squadron of Gripens and the Esterrian planes with transponder specifically designed for them patrol the airspace close to the border, an AWACS aircraft stays behind with an entire crew providing survelliance for their frontline unit with their dinner plate of a radar.
"I still find it funny that the MoD agreed to use Lizard for those dragons or whatever"
"To be fair though, they're basically oversized flying lizards"
"Right"
These AWACS operators do not have an exciting job, but that job is still very important for they serve a role of watching the airspace and to also serve as an early warning asset.
"You know it's kind of weird that we're dealing with some fantasy shit instead of like fighter jets or something"
"That's just how it is man. Some god decided to move us here without anyone knowing what's going on and now we're dealing with a new kind of threat!" and then the operator noticed something on his screen "Speaking of which..."
...
"All callsigns, Lizard imminent breach! BRA, 180 for five from the border, at angels 8!"
"Roger, Eli-12 moving in to intercept. Eli-10, let's get to this guy"
"Wilco"
A flight of Gripens broke off from the other flight to head towards the border where they'd meet the wyvern with a sharp turn to the right. Upon having their nose point at the direction where they're needed, the pair throttled up, getting the much needed boost to get there even faster.
While they're getting there fast, they both would use their own radar to keep track of the wyvern that is going to go above the Esterrian territory. From there, the flight captain adjust accordingly as he and his subordinate in the other jet with him maintain a 'hot' aspect (flying towards) to the wyvern as it flew perpendicularly to the jets.
"I go to the side, you stay behind"
"Roger"
With how fast they were going, they would get to him in no time, merging into the pathline with the leader going past from above of the wyvern now over the border to his left and other staying behind, and it seems that the Ferdie here was none the wiser judging by his stead's reaction.
After the episode of a brief panic from the wyvern, the pilot established direct eye-contact with its rider. There's no way he's going to be able to talk to the guy directly, so he just stared at him.
Some time past and he throws up his right hand, the left still holding onto the joystick, pointing directly right behind where he and this Ferdie's direction. He hopes that the guy would get it, and what do you know? He did.
The wyvern rider and his stead turned around, back to where he had come from, back to La Ferdina while being escorted off until they split off at the borderline. A sigh of relief was breath, before Eli-12 spoke up on his radio again.
"This is Eli-12, the guy is now turned away"
"I saw that Eli-12, good work" said the AWACS on the radio.
"...Eli-12 to Eli-10, return to CAP, get back to our formation"
"Roger that"
...
On another field with vehicles parked in Gevaka, the trio went onboard what's known as the Pasi. The vehicle was chosen for them for its ease of operating, being more familiar to the self-propelled carriages at home.
"So except for some few elements, the vehicle is basically the same in terms of driving it?" said the leader of the three on the driver's seat
"That's correct"
"...I think we're ready now" as he nodded "Shall we?"
"Yeah, go ahead, just start up the engine" the soldier right besides him would point out the ignition for the vehicle. Shortly after that, the engine would start up "There we go"
The driver would press the accelerator with his foot, now taking off with his two other fellow members seated at the back. He would then steer the vehicle to the left by roll the steering wheels also to the left. His destination for now is the vehicle course while he go past the other Pasis and utility vehicles.
"It's not bumpy at all" said one of the RIDET members at the back "I like it"
The self-propelled carriage would've made at least some few substantial bumps even in this case, and yet the Pasi here completely threw that out the window being a lot more comfortable for all of them.
"You guys don't have suspension back in Gestrae?" questioned the Flash soldier.
"...What's a suspension?"
"Ah nevermind, I'll explain later"
The Pasi then turned to the right where it would enter the course. And with them in there turning to the left, the leader pushed harder on the pedal, now going a little faster on the dirt track.
"Here we go"
He went for a straight line until he would meet a right turn, then executing a left turn, leaning left and right for a little bit respectively. The Pasi then went over a small bump before the wide 180 turn, briefly having a wheel going off-track at the end before the RIDET recovered it into the track.
"Be careful now, don't go too fast"
Another sharp left turn before the Pasi has to turn around again, now the APC just went straight for some time while it went over a few more bumps.
"You know our might not even be able to handle this as easily as this vehicle does"
"That is for sure!"
After the straight path comes a right turn, and before anyone know it, the driving RIDET sees the entrance to the track, signifying he had completed a lap with the 6-wheeled vehicle.
"Well not bad for a first timer"
It was a short one, but nonetheless it was fun while it lasted. With the overall operation and comfort from the Pasi been proven, one question remains.
"Now what about those suspensions you mentioned?"
"Oh yeah, right... let's just get off the APC first, I'll show you"
...
A pirate ship meets an Esterrian warship side-by-side. With a big hole in its left wing- cough I mean the port side, the pirates onboard are carried off over to the Marie van den Ulsens with the sailors of the Esterrian Royal Navy pushing them over the plank.
"What are you, turtles?" taunted one of the sailors as he watched over them with a submachine gun in his hand "Heh, no wonder why you all end up like this!"
The pirates-turned-prisoners are clearly not happy with this outcome, but they couldn't care less. Mendejerik, the captain of the warship can be seen taking a sip from his flask as he just watch by.
"No matter how much I clean it..." mumbled the Esterrian captain "It always tastes like swamp water..."
With the last man of the pirate ship taken into the Marie van den Ulsens' custody, some sailors that were on the other ship would cross back into their own ship. One of them, with his battle rifle slung upside down behind his back around the waist, would approach the captain as the planks would also be pulled back.
"Sir, what shall we do with the ship?"
To which Mendejerik replies:
"...Let the others deal with it, for all we know, it might get sent to the bottom of the sea or just towed back to Naeslagtland or anywhere else really"
The sailor nodded before a "Yes, sir" spoken and him leaving soon afterwards. The captain then took another sip, his frowning face then after indicating he is really not appreciating the taste of the water inside the flask.
"...I really shouldn't have traded mine with a Flash one..." he mumbled to himself.
...
With all 4 of them having their feet outside the Pansartransporter (Pasi), they can continue onto the new impromptu segment.
"So in basic terms, the suspension for the vehicle here is like a system of spring and other parts that tone down the bouncing around as well as making sure the vehicle doesn't roll over on its side or something..."
The RIDET trio glanced at each other after the not rolling over part.
"...Yours have this issue don't they?"
"That is correct" said the middle man of the RIDET "Our carriage is rather... prone to flipping over if the road is rough or if they're on the dirt"
"I see then... Well, all you have to know is that suspension consists of spring, obviously, the shock absorbers, struts and anti-roll bars"
"So how exactly can we make those?" questioned the senior member "As in the material and such?"
"As for the material... yeah can't comment on that" the trio expressing a mix of surprise and a bit of disappointment "I'm sorry, but this is just to be safe as we really don't want the enemies to suddenly have a lot of even better equipment while we don't have time to adapt at all"
"I understand, but what about the construction? After all, you did send the Pasis along with others to Esterria am I wrong?"
"You're not wrong, Esterria probably knew how it works already, so I think you should be safe reading some public documents on how they work"
"Splendid"
The senior member is now satisfied with the answer, as he then turned towards his junior.
"...I suppose you have already taken some notes?"
"I did, yes" with a notebook on his right hand and his pen on the left.
"Excellent, and another question for you..." as he then turned back to the Flash Home Guard soldier "...Where can we find such documents?"
"You can find them in a library, but we don't have them here. After all we're not going to stay here for long, Gevaka is supposed to be a demilitarized zone"
"Then why are you- Oh wait, right, the Kingdoms Union invasion"
"Yep, it sucks but it is what it is... Anyways, you're going to have to ask the government itself for those, assuming they do allow such a thing as I'm not too sure myself"
The RIDET nodded.
"Very well then, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge about the suspension"
"Aye, no problem"
...
Aveland, Naeslagtland, 28/9/1702 "So if I'm reading this correctly, the Institution is now placing the research of 'suspension system' as its top priority?" question the King after he read over the paper given to him.
"It appears so" said Fosberg, his main assistant.
"Hmm... tell me a reason why"
"Well, according to them, the suspension as demostrated by our counterparts in Flashia have shown itself to be extremely useful for our planned upgrade of the existing fleet of the self-propelled carriages. If fitted, they would see a significantly better performance in mobility, perhaps even allowing them to go off-road if necessary"
"I see... and what have we done for this?"
"The Institution has requested a few documents on its structure, which is still pending for approval by Flashia's Federal Government"
"Ah, very well then" with Madsen IV's expression betraying a hint of delight "In that case, I shall put funding to this research, and make sure it's a top secret"
"Then it shall be done, your majesty"
