"We got really bad news today" the Forsvaret Central Command HQ have gathered up in an emergency "Alert level has been raised to Alpine as we are now dealing with another Gevaka situation.
Incursions of unknown forces have been reported up to the Northern Svarher Island, reportedly consisting of goblins and lizardmen. Estimated size is about a brigade and increasing as visual confirmation of the build up of their forces is stacking up. Invaders suspected to be from the North-East Demon State.
The 217th Pansarjæger Brigade of the Land Army stationed nearby is to provide a corridor in Gullður for evacuation of all residents with the objective of delaying the enemy's advance on the town until everyone gets out"
Northern Svarher Island, Flashia Gullður is the only town far up to the Northern edge of the island. It's a normally peaceful, sparsely populated town. But unfortunately now, it got caught in the crossfire of an ongoing invasion by the goblins and lizardmen.
"8-2, reconnaissance drone spotted a big formation coming directly to the town from the West, how copy, over?"
"6-5, same here, from the East"
"27-Actual, we copy, what's their ETA over?"
8-wheeled Pansartransporters would have their dismounting elements running out from the back with the turrets aiming left and right while the infantry get to work right at a road right outside of the town.
"Hurry up boys, demons never wait for us!"
And this is happening while civilians have been hurrying up in leaving the town as fast as possible from the opposite side of the road.
"6-5, eh... ETA for the Eastern formation is 5 minutes at least"
"8-2, 7 minutes ETA for the West"
The dismounting elements would split into two, one going to the right side while the other would cross the road. They all would go prone on the snow with machine guns also getting set up.
"Man how the fuck did they get past the defenses?" said a soldier watching the East "Shit doesn't add up"
"Well for one, satellites can only monitor so much" said another soldier next to him "So you better stop whining"
The other soldier shook his head before turning to another on his other side who was checking his magazine.
"Hey Aimo you alright? You know like your arm got shot back in Gevaka"
"I'll be fine..." said Aimo before he then smacked the back of the magazine in hand against his helmet twice "It still moves, so don't worry" he then inserts the mag back in, giving it a love tap to make sure it's seated properly in the magwell.
"Right..."
...
"Lizards, 45 for 30, at angels 7, hot"
Gripens of the Luftforsvar have been scrambled to respond to the invasion from the goblins and the lizardfolks coming from the North-East.
"10 contacts going hot towards Gullður"
And Gullður just happens to where these fighter jets would go having their nose pointed in that direction.
"Roger... Let's get these guys a welcoming party shall we?"
"Like we did with those guys back in Gevaka?"
"Yep yep"
...
BOOM
Getting back at Gullður, a Pansar 97 (Strv 122) at the Northern coast had fired off its HEAT shell at one of the wooden sail ships getting in position to lay siege to the town. The shot would result in massive damage to the said ship, with a massive hole punched into the bottom hull.
"What's the status on evacuation? We need to move fast as a lot of them will come!"
Machine gun was then fired upon the same now damaged ship, aiming for the deck where the enemy crew is seen before backing out after awhile. Another tank would get into another position, with a shell having been loaded into the breech.
"UP!" yelled the loader as he then switched off the main cannon safety now it has been loaded with a HEAT round in it.
"Ship, 30" said the TC.
"Identified!" said the gunner as his sight is now on the targeted ship.
"FIRE!"
"On the way!"
THUMP
Went the sound of the breech sent backwards while the sound of the actual firing was silenced for the buttoned up crew before it was promptly send forward again while ejecting a small piece of what remains of the shell and the safety was on again.
"TARGET! HEAT AGAIN!"
The loader would press a button to open up the ammo compartment, and upon having the door opened up for a few seconds, he quickly pulled the HEAT round out, flip it around vertically and the slamming it into the breech. Again, after the safety was switched off, he yelled:
"UP!"
Which prompted another:
"FIRE!"
"On the way!"
THUMP
"TARGET!"
Again the cannon was fired at the same ship that now have 2 big holes on the different parts of the hull.
"Driver, reverse!"
The tank would then start to move backward into the street, as one other tank would stick its cannon out from different position, aiming at the approaching fleet.
...
"Sir Verkog, we have received reports of the frontal fleet" said a lizardman on the ship as it continue sailing along the ocean in the cabin.
"What is it then?" said the ogre taking up relatively a lot of space inside.
"Our ships have found themselves in contact with the enemy of the South-West, taking many casualties"
"Already...? Let me guess, we haven't fired a shot yet?"
"Correct"
The ogre just looked at Chax, the lizardman, silent before the eyes would turn down to the ground.
"One more weird thing..." said Chax to break the quiet "Judging by the nearest magic signatures, this should not be possible as they're further away from where it had taken place. Human settlement was reported there as well"
"That's weird indeed... perhaps this enemy may have something that hide their magic signature?"
Chax simply shrugged.
"I don't know either, but we shall find out after we take that settlement for ours"
...
BRRRRRRP BRRRRRRRP BRRRP
On the other side of things, the infantry squads protecting the flanks have finally got into contact of the army of goblins and lizardmen with the rifles, machine guns of both foot soldiers and the APC opening up upon them.
"Entire group at the left!"
"Light em up!"
Everyone and everything here was at least firing at something. And it doesn't matter if it's a singular dumb goblin that happened to get caught in the open or an organized lizardmen formation, bodies were stacking up nonetheless.
Tracers went around like crazy while the snow field looked more and more like an entire mess with a lot of bodies and blood there.
"Keep firing, they won't get us if you just don't stop shooting!"
...
"FORWARD-"
The projectiles of light going right into the bodies of the lizardman alongside his nearby comrades would cut the word off while splattering a lot of blood at the same time.
This battle has been quite chaotic for the advancing DLA against this mysterious enemy who apparently has no magic signature whatsoever. It should mean that there would be no magic, but this one just perplexes them.
"WHAT IN THE LORD'S NAME IS THIS-"
In every cracks of the air and every light bouncing off the field of snow, more of the goblins and lizardmen fell down. And all the while they could not see even who did this despite the trajectory of the projectiles pinpointing their location.
"We aren't doing so well as expected isn't that right?" said a lizardman who leads this horde of the DLA in a distance.
"We sure aren't" said the one accompanying one "But as long we have the numbers, we will eventually emerge victorious"
The 2 lizardmen then looked to their left, to the North, looking for something in the clouds. And that something would take form of a group of 10 wyverns flying towards the settlement.
"There they are..." muttered the horde leader "They may have such advanced magic, but they are doomed against our wyvern-"
Immediately, a flash of yellow light and subsequent smoke struck one of their wyverns.
BOOM
Is the sound that came a second later.
"W-What?"
And this repeats not one, two, three, four, but ten times, wiping out the entire squadron as both of the lizards looked in horror. An unfamiliar roaring sound would reach the ears, and with their eyes turning towards the source, they see a harrowing sight of a few white dragons soaring the skies.
"O-Only a few d-did that?!" exclaimed the accompanying lizardman.
They looked in awe while the commander attempted to calm down by breathing in and out. While doing so, he looked down on the ground, trying to clear his mind before look up. Taking a deep breath.
"It will be fine... It's not like anything will get worse-"
CRACK
The accompanying lizard flinched with drops of blood splattered on his face, quickly bringing up his hand by reflex. Visibly trembling he slowly looked towards his superior... only to find him lying dead with blood exiting both holes in his head.
He stared into the corpse of his superior, taking a step forward.
CRACK
Something would go extremely fast past him, just behind his head as he also flinched, now getting the signal. It was a miracle for him as to how he managed to survive, but he knew there won't be a second time.
He start to run away, and it seems, more and more are following suit now that the subordinate troops are taking notice of their leader's sudden death.
...
"Missed that guy" said a soldier behind a gun with bipod deployed on a table while he's just sitting down on a chair.
"Told you to go for center mass..." said his accompanying spotter looking out the window.
"Yeah yeah..." as he pulls the bolt back.
Although they already have the drones up, the snipers still have a job to do... well maybe technically marksmen since this is the regular troops we're talking about. This particular team is set up with the rifle inside, just in front of a balcony.
"So who's next?" as the shooter drives the bolt back in to chamber a new round in.
"I don't know at this point..." the spotter looked through his binocular "Just go for anyone maybe?"
"Alright then" the shooter now looks down on his scope of the green Animaatish rifle.
"Let's go for that goblin over there..."
BANG
Went one shot going right into the chest of the goblin.
"Got him..." the bolt was worked on again "Now for the lizard..." as the shooter then gets the reticle on a lizardman with a sword.
BANG
Again, he chambers a new round by pulling the bolt back and forward after sending a bullet into the back. He then aimed his rifle at another lizardman.
"...Aaaaaaand another one"
BANG
The shooter pulled the bolt back once more.
"Looks like they're retreating" said the spotter "Western side wave is retreating"
"And that's after my last shot!" as the shooter peeked at his now empty chamber of the rifle.
"...That shot coupled with the fighter jets arrival really did numbers eh?"
"Yep..."
...
"Western and Eastern forces are retreating! Continuing firing until you can't get them no more!"
With the invaders driven to a run for their life, the Flash forces did what seemed like a warcrime but actually isn't by continuing to shoot at them. From there, they continue to lay more bodies and blood to the not so snowy fields anymore.
"LEFT SIDE!"
Tracers would continue to fly from point A to point B at the battlefield, eventually having to stop somewhere, whether it be snow or another unfortunate goblin/lizardman.
Eventually though, the acoustic chaos would also have to fade away, slowly as there would be less and less targets for the 217th grunts, factored in by the fact they're running away and the fact they cut down their number so much.
"Damn... Aimo you good? Did your arm get hit?"
"I'm fine! Don't worry about it and no!"
"Heh, I'm just messing with you"
"Voi saatana..." (Oh fucking hell...)
...
"27-Actual to all callsigns, enemy forces are backing off, but not for long. Use this breathing room to make sure everybody is out"
The Pansars of 217th is still holding on to the coastal area of the town, but even with many ships taken out of action, there's still more to go with the ammunition now not having much.
"FIRE!"
"ON THE WAY!"
THUMP
"Fuckin' piss, they keep coming!" said the TC.
"Smells bad too" said the gunner looking through "I wonder who..."
"I mean what did you expect from someone whose job is basically lifting one weight to another over and over again?"
"I know, just put a HEAT in" said the TC prompting the loader to do his job.
"Last shell!" as he viewed the opening bustle before pulling the shell out. The loader almost dropped the shell as he had it in his arms, now sluggishly loading the HEAT to the lowered breech. A little calibration later, he would then slam it forward.
"UP!" the safety was then flipped off again.
"SAIL SHIP! 350!"
"IDENTIFIED!"
"FIRE!"
THUMP
"TARGET! DRIVER REVERSE!"
While the tank reverses backward again having no High Explosive left in the bustle, a ship can be seen burning with a big hole put into the hull as with the other vessels that came before it.
"1-5, we need an updated SITREP (Situation Report) right now! Is everyone out or not?"
"This is 6-5... standby, we're on it"
...
"All callsigns, priority message: We have confirmed that all civilians have been evacuated. All personnel is to regroup with the other units out of Gullður"
"You heard the man, let's go!"
Flash infantry stood up en-masse from the snow they laid down on, now backing out from their fighting position.
"Be quick because there will be an another wave"
Some of the present Pansartransporters either did the U-turn, simply reverse back onto the road or J-turned, the stopping near the squad they were assigned to as they opened up their rear hatch.
"Aimo c'mon and hurry up!"
The troops would mount up as fast as possible with some things occassionally getting in the way while doing so.
"Out the way!"
"Stop pushing for fuck's sakes!"
The first APC would close its rear hatch and afterward was on the way out. Then came the second and third as they too set off.
"Alright everyone's in? Ronald?"
"Yep"
"Aimo?"
"...Right next to you"
"Oh what the fu-"
Tanks are also bugging out of the town, and it would not take long until all the PTRS 03s packed up with the hatch now getting closed shut and the wheels started rolling again.
Theoretically the Brigade could just hold onto the town for longer, but because of Svarher Island being Svarher Island with how far the units are spread around not to mention the Defense Forces' current state in the island, they had to retreat out of the town as per plan.
They will return, eventually...
...
"Guns, lizard!"
The battle for the Gullður on the ground may have ended, but the aerial battle still rages on for a little while. As it turned out, there weren't just 10 wyverns heading for the town, there are a whole lot of them coming.
"FOX-2!"
The Gripens would engage in a fighter both from a distance and up-close, with Sidewinders and 27mm guns used respectively.
"Splash one!"
The wyverns riders of both goblins and some kind of race with fur and the head of a boar would have a hellish time dealing with the white birds as their opponents are just too maneuverable coupled with other factors like the apparent episodes of losing controls every single time they tried tailing one of the 'Griffins'.
The Gripens' pilots on the other hand is constantly tortured by constantly experiencing 5 or more G's, at least for the ones that chose to fight up close.
"Fireballs incoming!"
With the advantage of being quite a maneuverable ones, the fighter jets of the Luftforsvar dodged fireballs after fireballs...
BRRRRRRRRRRT
...Shot down wyverns after wyverns...
"Spade-3, FOX-2!"
...And without a single scratch on their aircrafts.
"Splash!"
"Spade-2 is bingo fuel, RTB for now"
"Spade-1, ran out of ammo, bugging out"
The wyverns were sent running away, and that was just in time that the 3 fighter jets here called in a 'bingo', now returning to their base where they had taken off from.
...
"The island of Svarher is now at war. As we speak now, thousands of invading troops consisting of goblins and men with the head of lizards stepped foot onto the island from the North and is advancing towards nearby towns. As per the Federal Crisis Response Act, citizens have been evacuated from the Northern part and is also mobilized into the Land Army and the Home Guard to oppose the invasion.
At the same time, in the Northern Pact alliance, Charter 3 has been invoked as this is the first time that the mainland of a Flash state has been attacked since the transfer with Esterrian and Naeslagt troops already moving in to respond. The President of Flashia, Simon Thomasen is expected to give a speech this afternoon" - FCNN
"By the gods..."
Minvennped, Agevær Back in the outskirt of Minvennped, the hometown of the famed 217th Brigade, where the recruits of different origins and kinds been training, they have received the news of Flashia being plunged into another war up North.
"...Those demons have finally done it" said a man with features of a wolf "And they did it right in the middle of our infantry training!"
The majority of men and demi-humans here are former slaves set free by the Flash forces back in Gevaka. These particular ones can fluently if not natively speak Ageværan, or back in the continent they hail from, Naeslagtlandic which contributed to the fact they're now here under the patch of the 217th.
Another note is that this company had completed their 8 weeks of basic training, now moving on to an additional 10 weeks for 1-NF, or in layman's term, infantry.
They were having some rest after awhile doing their routine training when the TV came on about the news of the Demon invasion of Svarher Island. More specifically, it was the FCNN Agevær Channel that broadcasted the breaking news.
"Hey our boys are up there right?" said a demi-human soldier.
"They are" said a human personnel.
"Damn..."
The TV showed various scenes in the island of the Far North, ranging from civilian vehicles on the road in convoys to soldiers armored vehicles of Flash, Esterrian and Naeslagtlandic Army destined from somewhere as a news reporter acted as a narrator for the current situation.
Then came the interviews of the personnel involved.
"There was no warning" said an officer in solid green uniform, whose identity is revealed to be Captain Arnt Rosett of the Naeslagtlandic Royal Army "We were going on about our day when the alarm was sounded over the island"
"There was just confusion that time" said a certain Flash soldier with his name and unit written on a box "We were getting some things done as usual, then the next thing we know is that there were enemies on M53"
The screen then cuts to more footage of the response of the militaries involved with more narration.
"Even in the midst of confusion however, the Defense Forces still managed to evacuate towns such as Gullður in a rather orderly way without taking a single loss"
And now it cuts back to an interview of a personnel in full kit and snow camo covering.
"...I-It was quite chaotic at first" the soldier's name revealed to be PFC. Aimo Saari of the 217th Panserjeger Brigade.
"There's one of ours!" commented one of the personnel in the room.
"We were... We were trying to get people to leave at the time, and... the goblins and lizardmen came"
"So did you get the residents out?" said the reporter.
"A-All of them, yes"
"I'm not going to lie to you" commented one watching "This Aimo man seems to be quite awkward, I don't know if I could trust him in a real combat situation"
"That's only one aspect though" said someone behind him.
"...I'm sorry, but can you elaborate, cat?" he turned towards her.
The female feline folk sighed, lowering her cup a bit.
"I'm saying that it's only one aspect we see from him" she said "As for other things, we don't know yet. He could be an extremely good fighter for what we know, like he could pin you down in a blink of an eye in a sword fight for example"
The guy was flabbergasted to say the least.
"I- Uh... Fair enough" the soldier nodded as he slowly turned around
He and some few others with their attention grabbed for a while would then return back to the TV while the cat just get back and took another sip.
'Stay safe out there...' she thought to herself.
...
"Recon element has spotted a large formation advancing on the snow"
North-Western Svarher Island "They're heading towards the town, Pænkária!"
The Esterrian mechanized battalion was on their way to the North-West when those demonic species invaded the island.
"You heard them!" said the Esterrian commander on the radio "Get there as fast as possible"
The convoy was just chilling, taking their time to get up there. But now, they found themselves having to rush to the town just when they were near, with Ijzerwagens (M113) now hurrying up.
"Esterrian Battalion" said a Flash personnel on the radio "We need support in holding Pænkária while we are evacuating residents. The Defense Forces is still in the process of mobilizing local forces and we don't have much firepower for them"
"Acknowledged, we're already rushing to the town now"
It seems to them that their job here would be similar to that of their bigger Flash counterparts from Gullður.
"Get ready to dismount in 2 minutes" said the armored vehicle company commander, again over the radio "I repeat, 2 minutes until dismount!"
For now, the infantry soldiers in white would prepare themselves for the coming battle, checking their weapons to make sure they're loaded and is working properly.
"I hope we'll do good like we did back in Gestrae..." said one of the occupants.
"Same here" said another "But we just have to see how we do in the cold"
...
The ogre have now stepped foot in a typical human town with the DLA having managed to capture it. It was empty when they made it and parts of it were destroyed as a result of the Naval Army bombardment before they realized nobody was there anymore.
An achievement for now having this settlement for sure, but there is some frustration as they have wasted their shots on literally nothing with not even a single soul of the opposing forces left.
"Sir Verkog, you seem a bit angry..." said Chax, his right hand lizardman.
"Me?" said Verkog with his eyes turned towards him "Angry?"
"I mean... your face is obviously showing that... is there something wrong?"
"Oh... I... just feel that with our troops having taken such casualties, we should have a few corpses of the enemies lying here! But no, they instead chose to leave... all of them!"
"Sir Verkog, I understand how it feels, but look around you, you're now standing on the enemy territory, a town of those who had killed those 20 wyverns"
Verkog did what Chax told him to do, with his eyes meeting the sight of the Demon Lord's Army settling in the town with the goblins running around like idiots, which is rather typical of them and the lizardmen starting the process of building up some additional fortification.
"In that regard... you're right after all... plus, we are here to avenge those wyverns after all, not just to kill..."
...
"My fellow Flash citizens, as I speak to you today, the Defense Forces are mobilizing their forces in the Svarher Island alongside our allies, Esterria and Naeslagtland in response to the invasion of the island by species with the likes of goblins and lizards.
The invaders had suddenly came on the Northern part of the island when we did not have the surveillance capability at the time, with no satellite having been there around the start. To tell the truth, the opposing forces is at a much larger scale than what we have faced back in Gevaka, and is probably even bigger than what we had expected
We were caught off-guard, but it wouldn't take us long to mount up a response.
Our and allied forces in Northern Svarher have managed to delay the enemies' advances while simultaneously, we're evacuating all the civilians out. And this is while we took no casualties of our own so far.
As much as I don't want to admit it however, our current situation do not allow us to not lose some of our towns to the enemy. But I can assure this, Flashia will take back what is ours. We will not forget, nor we will forgive, and we will resolutely defeat the invaders just like we did back in Gevaka"
BANG BANG BANG
Somewhere in the middle of Northern Svarher The sound of the battle rifles firing echoed off of the snowy surrounding with flashes of light coming from the bushes behind the front treelines of a forest.
"Just shoot at anyone that isn't human!" shouted the troop commander "Make sure you kill as many as you can!"
These are the Naeslagt troops from a platoon of the sole company deployed to the island, firing upon an advancing formation from afar. And almost immediately, they are already seeing the effect.
With them having been caught off-guard, the OPFOR took a lot of casualties from the first shots fired, mostly because they weren't taught something about spacing. In response, the goblins charged at where they had came from, using their numbers to their advantage with the aim of destroying those pesky humans soldiers.
And speaking of spacing...
"Fire in the hole!"
THUMP
...The Naeslagts came prepared with rifle grenades, a tool for also teaching a little something called FAFO (Fuck Around and Find Out). The recoil is shoulder-shattering, but it guaranteed some good, rewarding effect.
KABOOM
Multiple bodies and some limbs along with a lot of blood were launched in multiple direction, taking many lives of the goblins who didn't know any better.
They repeated this with 1 grenade after another, and until they got into close range, the Naeslagt platoon outnumbered the goblins three to one with machine guns also playing a role. They are stupid, but not stupid enough to not realize that this charge had became futile.
And because of this, the goblins started running away while still being shot at by .308s, cutting their numbers down even further, until they were reduced to a mere small team.
"Now that's what we're talking about!"
...
Tap, rack, reassess. A course of three actions in that order taught by their Flash instructors to clear out the jamming and making sure it did. With the reassessing having been done with no further specific action needed, the Esterrian soldier aimed down his irons, and fired his shots against the charging enemies.
Pænkária, North-Western Svarher In the North-Eastern outskirt of the town, the Esterrian troops took cover in houses, firing their bullets out the windows at the green little guys.
"Give me another box!" shouted a machine gunner with his weapon laid on its tucked in bipod by the window sill, racking the bolt back.
"Yep!" the Esterrian rifleman then puts down his rifle on the wall, barrel pointing up then turning to the rucksack behind him. From the already opened pack, he pulled out a green box of machine gun belt and putting it next to the gunner while he is in the process of changing barrel, wearing a mitten.
The assistant gunner in the meantime retrieved his rifle, shouldered the stock, centered his sight and began firing on the demonic species again.
"Watch out for archers at their rear if you don't want a house burned down!" the radio reminded the team.
"You heard him" said the AG.
"I know, I know"
The gunner swiftly gets his NOT hot barrel, aligning it to where it supposed to be. He then shoved the barrel in fully before slapping the locking tray shut.
"I got you"
The assistant gunner seeing this then dropped his rifle again to facilitate loading the new belt to the gun with the top cover having been opened. He brought the first round of the belt onto the loading tray, aligning it up before the gunner closed it again.
It would not take long before the MG shoulder his gun and went:
BRRRRRP
Which would result in a lot of enemies being cut down in numbers as he rejoins the cadance of the Esterrian and Flash guns firing upon them.
"Lizard archers to the left!" said the AG, prompting the gunner to lean to the left to get the barrel also to the left. Then, he pulled the trigger again.
BRRRRRRRRP
"Good effect on target! Keep it up!"
...
The charge of the goblins down to the middle of the Northern part of the island have failed, but the Demon Lord's Army still have something up their sleeve. Lines of archers of the lizardmen would be formed, with their eyes facing the treeline where the enemy is at a distance.
"DRAW!" shouted the commander of the lines, going through with the archers raising their bow up, the arrow pulled back along with the string "FIRE!"
And the arrows were sent flying into the skies before gravity then pulled them back to surface once more. The hail of arrow would rain down on the known enemy position and stuck themselves onto the snow by the tip.
The commander took a closer look at where they hit, seemingly finding nothing. But all of the sudden, something had emerged, emitting a faint low roaring sound. They were some sort of self-propelled thing in green with some white thrown onto them, brandishing a stick on the front of its head.
He was confused, but not to worry as he would order the archers once more.
"AIM AT THOSE GREEN THINGS! HELL FIRE!
Slightly reluctant, the frontal archers took another arrow for each.
"DRAW!"
Then they would have the arrow attached to the string and pull it back.
"FIRE!"
And there goes a lot of arrows going straight to the green wheeled thing, the tips ignited as they flew mid-air. This and the amount used is enough to take down even the strongest asset by this region standard, but despite this, the Hell Fire Arrows all just harmlessly bounced off their bodies, most breaking in pieces much to the shock of the commander.
A moment of suspense as he stared into the advancing creatures, with its head turned towards one of the archers position.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Puffs of smokes were shot up on their left alongside some barely visible body parts at the time as the archers were completely horrified of the scene. Their next course of action is to draw another arrow...
CRACK-CRACK-CRACK-CRACK
But it seems for most, it was too late as the thing shot too many projectiles of light to count, killing the entire front in an impossibly fast pace.
"STAY IN LINE!" yelled the commander "THEY SHALL NOT PASS-"
Moments later, he would join the unfortunates by having the lights piercing his archers and into his chest, then leaving a puddle of blood on the white snow.
"THE COMMANDER IS DEAD!"
The lizardmen subordinates began to take notice, now going into full panic mode as they frantically ran away while still being merciless hunted down by whatever those things are.
...
"KILL THOSE LIZARD CUNTS!"
"By the gods, harsh words there..."
The platoon of 3 BMP-2MDs is now advancing on the demons invaders with the support of infantry after repelling the goblin charge off at the treeline and surviving the rain of arrows, although they did have some who got injured.
This is their first time getting into actual combat with their new equipment and (leased) vehicles, and it's certainly their first to fire off a few rounds of 30mm.
THUNK THUNK THUNK THUNK
...Which actually scared their own infantry soldiers at first owing to how loud they are compared to the coaxial MG they used for exercises. Oh well, at least the infantry doesn't have to do anything, just have to follow the vehicles directly from behind... almost.
"Make sure to cover the flanks! Our vehicles can only see as much!"
This is an issue that is already apparent even in the less advanced eye of the Naeslagts that went inside these things. When buttoned up (everyone inside with hatches closed), situational awareness becomes extremely limited, necessitating dismounted infantry to support them on the way.
These soldiers would have their rifles up at the ready, looking around both sides for anyone's trying to be smart as they crawled to the fleeing reptiles like predators going for the kills.
Some would even help out by shooting some that they lay eyes upon, usually taking a few shots before they go down as they only have irons for the time being.
,,,
While their counterparts bound for the middle is having a really and I meant, REALLY hard time, elements of the DLA broke off from their main formation going from the North to yet another town to go around to their side.
Consisting of lizardmen and orcs, they carefully maneuvered around the enemies, avoiding being seen in the first place. Doing this resulting into turning what was too close for comfort into still hearing them but far enough.
"They never know what will hit them..."
"I'm surprised we made it this far-"
"Shut"
The lizardmen stayed low, with the orcs also copying their stance as they go about on the snow, going to the Eastern side of the town. In a few moments, they would be facing the Eastern entrance with seemingly little to no defenders as they're focused to the North...
"We made it..." said the leading lizard "They shall pay for the price now, CHARGE-"
...Except the impression was completely wrong.
ZIP-CRACK
In a moment's notice, the leader fell lifelessly on the ground before almost immediately, the rest were being lit up by the same mysterious forces with light projectiles magic.
"WHAT IN THE LORD'S NAME-"
Blood splattered everywhere with more lives being taken away and some heads even being blown out of existence with those still alive quickly falling into disarray.
...
"Yah yeet!"
An empty ammo box would be thrown out of a G-Wagon of the Home Guard with a .50 CAL machine gun on top, with its top cover opened up and cleared off of the links that were left behind.
The gunner then reaches his hand down, grabbing a fresh box, then putting it where it would be held on the mount, with the first bullet lined up, shutting the top cover and pull the charging handle back and let go as the bolt then slammed forward, chambering a new round.
(In case you don't know, M2 Browning is a closed bolt)
"UP!" he shouted, before he pushed down on the trigger, getting the lizard and also pigs some half an inch bullets zipping through them.
As he did this, he would also see tracers of other guns ricocheting off the field as they all went for the same targets, that being the flanking elements of the still mysterious invaders to them.
"Keep it up! They won't get through with this!"
The local Home Guard forces stationed at Pænkária were the first to respond with their 4-wheeled and 6-wheeled (Pasis) vehicles, covering the flanks of the main forces consisting of Esterrian and Land Army troops that came to their assistance.
Small but relatively mighty, they would bring lead, a lot of them in fact to the fight to fire upon those who tried going around the town.
"YEAH! GET SOME MOTHERFUCKERS!"
For the defenders, it went surprisingly well for dealing with an enemy that came onto this island without any warning whatsoever. Maybe it's because they are way less advanced, but who knows?
...
"Fire!"
BANG-BANG
Further South to the town of Pænkária, a platoon of double-barreled mortar vehicle, yes you read that right, double-barreled, would stand outside to provide fire support for those in Pænkária with drones being used as their eyes in the skies.
Being literally AMVs with 2 120mm barrels with high-elevation, the vehicles of Animaatish origin would see some action for the first time ever. And no, they were not there in Gevaka when that battle went down.
"Readjust elevation a bit down..." as the crew could see the shell impact a bit too far after awhile from their drone, manually lowering the gun "Get new shells up and running..."
The loader would get the fresh shell off the rack then get it into the breech of the mortar. He would do this for another time for the other barrel.
[Correct me if I got something wrong here because I can't find much info on how AMOS reload]
"Both up!"
"Fire!"
BANG-BANG
"Standby..."
The crew would wait for a little while for the 120mm shells to come back down to Earth. Given enough time, the gravity would pull those shells back down again and with a little bit of more patience, the drone could already see the effect.
"Good effects on target!"
The mortar shells are now landing on where they're supposed to be much to the glee of the crew.
"RE-ENGAGE!"
The loader would shove another pair of mortar rounds into two adjacent breeches, before then after an 'UP', the vehicle gets pushed down to the recoil of the two 120mm's firing before bouncing back.
"Keep it up lad, they're running away..." as they could see the enemy now seemingly retreating "Adjust elevation up and re-engage!"
They would repeat the process with the only twist being that the barrel is raised back up again, ending with another two consecutive bangs and two shells leaving the two barrels in a short notice while the previous pair would go up in puffs of smoke on the snow.
"Oh geez, that's some disgusting shit..." referring to how much blood, body parts and some organs are scattered around the field in the snow.

[SITUATION REPORT] "Defense District Svarher had suddenly found themselves facing an invading forces of unprecedented scale, marking the first time ever that this island state was turned into a warzone against a foreign enemy.
The invaders came at the time when Command was blind in Svarher, at a time when we did not have any eyes on any movement there. As a result, the island of Konrusj as well as town of Gullður, Hivaheift and Kalkrim was lost as we could not build up defense in time to prevent such thing. However, the latter two towns were already empty at the time while Gullður was held for a little longer to facilitate evacuation while also dealing heavy casualties to the enemy.
An attempt at Pænkária was also made, but they were stalled by the responding Land Army and Home Guard unit as well as the Esterrian Battalion who arrived just in time, though this didn't stop them from surrounding the town on two sides. A frigate, more specifically Bisgaard would also respond to Pænkária to prevent enemy warships from sieging the town.
The invading army would also launch an offensive down to the middle, but again they were repelled, this time by the Naeslagt MEK (Mechanized Company) as they also retook some land. The Marinesoldater Overfaldseheder would also see some actions against lizardmen and unknown boar-headed species at the Eastern island of Siersjö.
In response, the Defense Forces in Svarher are activating its available armor to stage for a counteroffensive while artillery are also being set up with mortars now being used against the enemy backlines notably at aforementioned Pænkária.
On the airspace matter, despite the invaders having superior numbers of wyverns, the Luftforsvaret still holds air superiority over Svarher as they would shoot down many of the demon species' wyvern corps, if we could call it that.
Oh, and another thing, recon reported that Gullður is being built up with fortification, we suspect that the town is now being used as HQ for the enemy"

Be advised the next chapter might get more political.
